• MonoTouch and CoreBluetooth Low Energy Required?

  We are making MFi hardware and an iOS app. We will want to have the BT device notify our app even if we are not running periodically when certain events happen. I know the CoreBluetooth API is the one to use, but can't tell for sure if that API only works with BT Low Energy devices or if it will also work with regular (MFi of course) BT 2.1 and higher devices. So my question is: Does the CoreBluetooth API only work with Bluetooth Low Energy devices or will it also work with 2.1 devices?

  I've created a SQL fiddle here. Basically, I have 3 tables BaseTable, Files, and a LinkingTable. The Files table has 3 columns: PK, BaseTableId, RecursiveId (ChildId). What I want to do is find all the children given a BaseTableId (i.e., ParentId). The tricky part is that the way the children are found works like this: Take ParentId 1 and use that to look up a FileId in the Files table, then use that FileId to look for a ChildId in the LinkingTable, if that record exists then use the RecursiveId in the LinkingTable to look for the next FileId in the Files table and so on.   I have to solve the following constructor for a BinaryTree class in java: BinaryTree(GeneralTree<T> aTree) This method should create a BinaryTree (bt) from a General Tree (gt) as follows: Every Vertex from gt will be represented as a leaf in bt. If gt is a leaf, then bt will be a leaf with the same value as gt If gt is not a leaf, then bt will be constructed as an empty root, a left subTree (lt) and a right subTree (lr). Lt is a stric binary tree created from the oldest subtree of gt (the left-most subtree) and lr is a stric binary tree created from gt without its left-most subtree. The frist part is trivial enough, but the second one is giving me some trouble. My home network has a number of internet devices (PCs, game consoles, ipod touch etc) Is there anyway to get monthly internet usage stats from the router? The ISP (BT) will not give you these stats, they will only tell you when you go over your limit.

  My exim4 don't send any message. The logs says 2011-03-09 15:59:57 1PxKrl-00038i-BT malware acl condition: clamd: ClamAV returned /var/spool/exim4/scan/1PxKrl-00038i-BT: lstat() failed: Permission denied. ERROR I supose that clamav (running clamd) does'nt have access rights on the mentioned file, but clamav is in the same group as Debian-exim (running exim4). Even changing the folder permissions to a+rwx has no effect. Any idea where to look for failure reason ?

• Wirelss card not being detected in backtrack 5

  I just installed backtrack 5 and I am unable to detect my wireless card. iwconfig doesn't list my interface. I can see that the hardware is present in lspci -vnn (see below) but I can't get the interface detected. I have tried to reinstall the compat-wireless package but I get errors during the build (see below) I have done a ton of researching and I keep hitting a brick wall, mostly because the wiki for backtrack is down and I can't find any good resources. Does anyone know how to fix the issue? Also, does anyone no how I can scan the hardware to determine what NIC is assigning my interface? If I can figure out the interface name I think I can set it up manually by putting up the link and using wireless-tools to manually configure the connection, this is what I had to do in arch on my mac. As stated the wiki for backtrack is down and I can't find any help on the issue. I tried to do the full kernel upgrade suggested in my software update but after the update was complete and I logged back in I had a new log in manager and the only thing I was able to log into was window managers. However, after this update my wireless was working fine. Please help I am new to Linux and the wiki is down, I have nowhere else to turn. Forgot to mention I am using the KDE version, not Gnome. Thanks in advance for any help or support. • Regex matching very slow

  I am trying to parse a PDF to extract the text from it (please don't suggest any libraries to do this, as this is part of learning the format). I have already handled deflating it to put it in the alphanumeric format. I now need to extract the text from the text blocks. So, my current pattern is "BT.*?((.*?)).*?ET" (with DOTMATCHALL set) to match something like: BT /F13 12 Tf 288 720 Td (ABC) Tj ET The only bit I want is the text ABC in the brackets. The above pattern works, but is really slow, I assume it is because the regex library is failing to match the pattern that matches the text between BT and the (ABC) many times. The regex is pre-compiled in an attempt to speed it up, but it seems negligible. How may I speed this up?

  Hi there, I am looking for an alternative to using an object/variable in global scope -- I would like to associate key/value pairs with specific DOM elements (eg, a DIV), so that I can use them as input for logic that processes other elements (eg, child elements of said DIV). I tried something naive like: $('[foo=bar]').key='value' , and $('[foo=bar]')[key]='value', but it puked. Doing something like: var foobar = $('[foo=bar]'); foobar.key = 'value' -- works, but the new property/value only affects the new object (ie, foobar, not $('[foo=bar]')) Most likely there's something terribly basic I am overlooking. • jQuery .eq(x) returns different element in IE than in FF/Chrome

  I am using the .eq() method to select a specific child element of a known element. It appears that the element indices are different in IE and in Chrome/FF, as .eq(2) returns different values depending on browser. (The element I'm looking for shows up as .eq(2) in FF/Chrome, but .eq(3) in IE) For example, alert($(this).parent().children().eq(2).text()); shows different results depending on the browser. Is there a better way of doing this?

• How to use the AWUS036H on MacBook Pro with Lion and Backtrack in VM?

  I have the AWUS036H USB WiFi adapter and have recently upgraded the OSX to Lion. The thing is, there are no drivers for Lion for the AWUS036H, and I would have to boot into 32bit mode every time I want to launch the adapter as per instructions here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9_HAGi1ce0 I also want to install BackTrack as I deal in networks a lot for my company. While this would be a simple matter on any other laptop, the company issued Macbook does not allow booting into any OS other than MacOSX or Windows with Bootcamp. Now, since dual booting into BT is not an option, I would like Backtrack to run in VM inside my MacOSX Lion - and this it does. It works like a charm inside VirtualBox. But since there are no 64bit drivers for the wifi adapter, Lion doesn't recognize it and cannot install it. This, in turn, means that Backtrack cannot see it even though AWUS036H usually works flawlessly with BT. How can I make my VM-based BT see the wifi adapter even if the parent OS doesn't see it, if at all? Is there a way, or am I better off buying a new WiFi adapter that supports OSX 10.7 such as the AWUS036NHR?

• Networking - intermittent, slow speeds

  Hi all I'm a novice when it comes to networking. I live in a large two storey building that used to be a school and we have an internet connection with BT (british telecoms provider), the connection speed is 12Mb.. Basically our connection is slow and very intermittent and I was wondering if anybody here could provide some help or ideas. There are about 11 people in the building who could be online at any time. We have a router on the ground floor which is bog standard supplied by BT. To provide Broadband access to the 1st and 2nd floors, we used an old switch that the school left, we have a cable running from the router on the first floor to the switch which connects to a wireless router which is configured as a bridge on the 2nd floor supplying broadband access to the 1st and 2nd floors. Additionally we have 3 computers that are connected via the switch through the ethernet sockets left by the school on the ground floor. The router we use on the 2nd floor came in a pack of 2 and cost about £15 (bought by another person). Sometimes the connection is perfectly fine, i.e. early hours of the morning or when everybody is out, we have rang BT who say that the connection cannot cope with the numbers of people online, plus I'm not sure whether each person is streaming etc. Can anybody offer any advice?

  I have a Macbook pro Quad core (2.2/8gb ram/750gb hdd). I have went through tons of forums on the Internet, but none of them seemed to be updated for the current Backtrack 5R1, or the question of getting it to correctly work on the MBP. Can anyone help? I don’t have a USB Dongle, and I want to be able to use the internal airport extreme wireless of the MBP to use BT 5R1. I have downloaded Backtrack 5R1 onto VMWare Fusion, and got it up and running, but to no avail. It keeps recognizing my card as a Ethernet connection. Kismac wont recognize the card either. So what I am asking for is this: The proper “download method.” for Backtrack 5R1 to my MacBook Pro. (YES I AM WILLING TO RE-DOWNLOAD BT 5R1). The Complete process from start to finish, UP TO DATE, from someone who has done this using an MBP Running Lion OSX. The proper tweaks, settings, or commands to get my airport extreme wireless card to work (it is BROADCOM 4331 I think). The wireless connection I need to use the tools on both Backtrack 5R1 and Kismac. I mainly need to test WEP cracking on my network for security. The difference between running BT 5R1 on VMWARE Fusion and running from downloading it directly to the MBP, if there is, How to download it directly to the MBP?

• SBS 2008 - DNS Forwarders timing out.

  Hello, We have an SBS 2008 server that keeps losing connection to the internet approx 2-3 times a day. It's a simple setup, BT Business Broadband ADSL to a Wireless Zyxel router to the server. Clients connect via WiFi from their laptops. Plugging ethernet in makes no difference, only a reboot of the router seems to bring everything back again. I'm looking at the forwarders on the DNS properties page and they're timing out when trying to resolve the IPs. Currently there are two IPs in there, 194.72.9.34 which has timed out and 194.72.9.38 which has finally resolved to ns8.bt.net We've been in there and replaced all media, installed a PCI NIC, have changed the router three times. There are no errors in the DNS event logs pertaining to what's going on. We've also been on to BT who are adamant that it's not their end. Could someone shed some light on what could be going on or where else to look in the configuration of the server? Thank you.

  I have setuped an Exim4 server on my debian wheezy server. This mail server only sends mail coming from localhost. The purpose is sending mail for my website. I have cron tasks and other services generating mails for root user. These mails are not stored in /var/mail as before, but sent by exim to [email protected]. I try to make exim send mails for root to [email protected] rather than [email protected]. I tried adding a .forward in /root with [email protected] as content. I tried also changing /etc/aliases with root: [email protected].
