• Is there a way to open an "extra" temporary workspace (via terminal, preferably)?

  [Running Ubuntu 14.04, Unity] So, I have workspaces enabled and all that jazz. I know one can set some option so that Ubuntu defaults to more than four workspaces—but that's not what I want. Currently, I'd like a fifth workspace, but only temporarily (that is, I don't want it to be the default that five open. I just want it for today, and possibly w/e other day I need it). Is there a way to do this?

  In cleaning up an answer today, I noted the following: LTS desktops get updates for three years LTS servers get updates for five years An Ubuntu desktop is (essentially) a superset of server packages. So in the fourth and fifth year, if LTS Server gets Kernel updates*, are these also provided for LTS Desktop? What about other core-system stuff? I realise the Kernel is a little special because there is a -server variant but are updates pushed for -generic (et al) too?

• iPhone:Tabbar hides when pushing from TableView to UIViewController

  Hello all, I have four Tab bar items in a Tab bar which is being bottom of the view where i have the TableView. I am adding Tab bar and items programmatically (Refer below code) not through I.B. Click on first three Tab bar items, will show the data in the same TableView itself. But clicking on last Tab bar items will push to another UIViewcontroller and show the data there. The problem here is, when i push to the viewController when clicking on last Tab bar item, main "Tab bar" is getting removed.   Hi, I'm writing an android application that is supposed to get the html from a php page and use the parsed data from thepage. I've searched for this issue on here, and ended up using some code from an example another poster put up. Whenever I run this code, it prints out the first first message, but then prints out the error error message and then finally the end end message. • Often "running in low-graphics mode” with NVidia GeForce GT 430

  Often (every fifth time perhaps) when I turn on my system, I'm greeted with the "running in low-graphics mode” window. Sometimes all I have to do is reboot and the system will start correctly, sometimes there can be a longer series of failed starts. If I go to the terminal and log in, I can run startx and my desktop will appear without problems. At the end of /var/log/Xorg.1.log I see this: [ 77.459] (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration. [ 77.459] Fatal server error: [ 77.459] no screens found [ 77.459] Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support at http://wiki.x.org Is the NVidia creating the appropriate XOrg configuration dynamically on every boot, or what could explain that the configuration error above only occurs sometimes?

• How do I fix gnome shell themes?

  This is my fifth full format and install of Ubuntu in under a month. I finally have my Gnome 3 desktop working again, but again, the Gnome shell themes is not select-able. I have asked the question of how to fix this common issue before, but I have seen no positive resolution. Does anybody know of a simple fix? This is a common issue and I have seen hundreds of postings related to it, but other users only seem to get half-way answers also and it goes unresolved. Would it be advisable to completely purge Gnome desktop and reinstall? If so how would I do this? I cannot use any extensions if the shell is not working, so I am desperately seeking resolution for the issue. Thanks in advance.

• If all variables are a subset of the superkey, is the database design 5NF? [migrated]

  I have a table called LogMessages, which has the following columns: Level A numeric value which represents Trace, Debug, Info, Warning, Error or Fatal Time A UTC time Message Foreign key to a Messages table Source Foreign key to a Sources table User Foreign key to a Users table From what I can see, all of these columns are a part of the super key; if any single value differs to an existing row, a new row can be created. My question is, does this design comply to fifth normal form? I am unsure as some groups of data will be repeating, however I don't believe this violates 5NF? (correct me if I'm wrong)
