  • ant ftp doesn't download files in subdirectories

    - by Kristof Neirynck
    Hello, I'm trying to download files in subdirectories from an ftp server with ant. The exact set of files is known. Some of them are in subdirectories. Ant only seems to download the ones in the root directory. It does work if I download all files without listing them. The first ftp action should do the exact same thing as the second. Instead it complains about "Hidden files" and seems to prefix the paths with "\\". Does anyone know what's wrong here? Is this a bug in commons-net? build.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <project name="example" default="example" basedir="."> <taskdef name="ftp" classname="org.apache.tools.ant.taskdefs.optional.net.FTP" /> <target name="example"> <!-- 2 files retrieved --> <ftp action="get" verbose="true" server="localhost" userid="example" password="example"> <fileset dir="downloads" casesensitive="false" includes="root1.txt,root2.txt,a/a.txt,a/b/ab.txt,c/c.txt" /> </ftp> <!-- 5 files retrieved --> <ftp action="get" verbose="true" server="localhost" userid="example" password="example"> <fileset dir="downloads" casesensitive="false" includes="**/*" /> </ftp> </target> </project> run_ant.bat @ECHO OFF PUSHD %~dp0 SET CLASSPATH= SET ANT_HOME=C:\apache-ant-1.8.0 SET ant=%ANT_HOME%\bin\ant.bat SET antoptions=-nouserlib -noclasspath -d SET ftpjars=^ -lib lib\jakarta-oro-2.0.8.jar ^ -lib lib\commons-net-2.0.jar CALL %ant% %antoptions% %ftpjars% > output.txt POPD output.txt Unable to locate tools.jar.   • Cannot FTP without simultaneous SSH connection?

    - by Lucas
I'm trying to set up an old box as a backup server (running 10.04.4 LTS). I intend to use 3rd party software on my PC to periodically connect to my server via FTP(S) and to mirror certain files. For some reason, all FTP connection attempts fail UNLESS I'm simultaneously connected via SSH. For example, if I use putty to test the connection to port 21, the system hangs and times out. I get: 220 Connected to LeServer USER lucas 331 Please specify the password. PASS [password] <cursor> However, when I'm simultaneously logged in (in another session) everything works: 220 Connected to LeServer USER lucas 331 Please specify the password. PASS [password] 230 Login successful. Basically, this means that my software will never be able to connect on its own, as intended. I know that the correct port is open because it works (sometimes) and nmap gives me: Starting Nmap 5.00 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2012-03-20 16:15 CDT Interesting ports on xx.xxx.xx.x: Not shown: 995 closed ports PORT STATE SERVICE 21/tcp open ftp 22/tcp open ssh 53/tcp open domain 139/tcp open netbios-ssn 445/tcp open microsoft-ds Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.15 seconds My only hypothesis is that this has something to do with iptables. Maybe it's allowing only established connections? I don't think that's how I set it up, but maybe? Here's my iptables rules for INPUT: lucas@rearden:~$ sudo iptables -L INPUT Chain INPUT (policy DROP) target prot opt source destination fail2ban-ssh tcp -- anywhere anywhere multiport dports ssh ufw-before-logging-input all -- anywhere anywhere ufw-before-input all -- anywhere anywhere ufw-after-input all -- anywhere anywhere ufw-after-logging-input all -- anywhere anywhere ufw-reject-input all -- anywhere anywhere ufw-track-input all -- anywhere anywhere ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:ftp I'm using vsftpd. Any thoughts/resources on how I could fix this? L

  • FTP Server vsftpd change ftp:nogroup

    - by pygorex1
I'm running vsftpd using the Debian Lenny package. ftp:nogroup is the user/group that uploads files and owns uploaded files. However, a problem is arising - another process is also writing files to the FTP directory as myprocess:mygroup with restrictive file permissions, preventing vsftpd from overwriting the myprocess authored files. Is it possible to tell vsftpd to use a different user/group for uploading files? (preferably as myprocess:mygroup or ftp:mygroup)

  • How to FTP transfer files to /var/www?

    - by jc.yin
I'm new to linux and I've set up a web server with Ubuntu Desktop edition so I can practice with the GUI a bit before transitioning to Ubuntu Server. I've already set up a LAMP stack as well as FTP. Now I just need to know how to transfer my web files to the /var/www folder in Ubuntu. Previously I've worked on Mac OS and there's a central server for all the web files where I can FTP to. Anyone able to help me understand how do I FTP to the /var/www folder in Ubuntu? Thanks

  • Problem with connect to server using FTP(with login)

    - by Sourav Chattopadhyay
I am unable connect to my remote account using Ubuntu's "Connect to Server" option after moving on to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. In Ubuntu 10.10 I used to connect to my FTP server by going to Places-Connect to server-FTP (with login) After giving the userid and password the remote folder would mount immediately but now it is showing a busy icon at top until I close the window after some time. I have also tried to connect using Ctrl + L from a Nautilus window using sftp://user@server but result is the same. Even though I could connect to my FTP server using gFTP, the default one from Nautilus is a better option to me.

  • Adding FTP publishing to IIS Website: cannot connect

    - by user46250
I used the wizard to add ftp publishing with anonymous access and mydomain.com as binding (I followed this tut: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/IIS-FTP-Publishing-Service-Part2.html ) When I try to connect with filezilla with anonymous user I get "EAI_NODATA - No address associated with nodename". The tutorial on IIS never mentions anything like this so how to fix this ? Should I use ftp.mydomain.com instead ? If yes should I do something (add A record in dns ?)

  • active-to-passive ftp solution

    - by Joris
I have an ftp client (.NET app I don't have the source to) that only does active mode that needs to push data to an appliances ftp-server that only speaks passive. There is nothing I can do to modify the software on either end; but everything in between is fair game. (routing, windows or linux software, firewall tricks, ...) Is there some kind of ftp proxy software? Or some kind of solution I could try?

  • FTP server (open source?) with paid support

    - by edmicman
Corporate has asked us to look for an FTP server solution with paid support. Our team has a preference for open source, and would normally support it ourselves. But the guys at the top want that secure feeling of paying someone to CYA. Soooooo....what kind of options are out there for FTP server that supports FTP, FTPS, SFTP, plus has a web-based front end so people could transfer files that way...that also has the option of paid support? Any recommendations?

  • Windows 2003 IIS FTP Server Migration w/ User Accounts

    - by Brad
I'm trying to figure out the best way to migrate an FTP server from old hardware to new hardware. The server is on a domain, but not all the users setup on the server (to use FTP) are domain accounts, some are local to the server. For example, I have users both ways: domain\username machinename\username The new machine name will be different. So I need to copy all the files with permissions in tact from the old server to the new server. Then I need to convert all the user accounts from the old server to the new server. Then I need to change the file permissions so that they are no longer oldserver\username but newserver\username. Can this be accomplished all with CALCS? Is there an easy way that perhaps I'm missing?

  • Publish Maven artifacts on FTP with Hudson FTP Publisher Plugin

    - by jaguard
I'm building a number of artefacts (zip files for different environments: test, dev) using the maven-assembly-plugin using a specialized Maven profile. These artefacts I want to copy/collect on on a FTP server keeping the version (01.07.10.16.Wed-1626) as a folder, so I need to copy from test/build/01.07.10.16.Wed-1626/ to ftp://my-ftp-server:21/projects/myserver-1.7/01.07.10.16.Wed-1626/ The layout for the Maven output is this: target/ build/ 01.07.10.16.Wed-1626/ my-server-01.07.10.16.Wed-1626-dev.zip my-server-01.07.10.16.Wed-1626-test.zip For copying the artefacts I'm using FTP Publisher Plugin but it seams I miss something since that even the build is OK and the artefacts are build without problem but the job is finishing without copying the artefacts, and in the console there is no log info about copying the artefacts My FTP publisher config (FTP repository hosts) is: Hostname: my-ftp-server Port: 21 Timeout: 10000 Root Repository Path: projects User Name: my-user Password: my-pass My Hudson job FTP publisher config (Publish artifacts to FTP) is: FTP site: my-ftp-server Files to upload Source: target/build/** Destination: myserver-1.7 1: There is any log to check if there are any FTP copy errors ? 2: There is any problem with the file pattern (source) or with the dest ?

  • FTP into a server using specific usernames

    I am trying to ftp into a server, once I'm there, I want to get a file, then put it back after sleeping for 5 minutes. I am having trouble connecting though. When I input the username t14pb, it still goes to the the first if statement, as if I said t14pmds. here is the code: #!/usr/bin/perl use Net::FTP; $host = "fd00p02"; $username = "$ARGV[0]"; $ftpdir = "/"; $file = "$ARGV[1]"; print "$username\n"; print "$file\n"; if ($username == t14pmds) { $password = "test1"; $ftp = Net::FTP->new($host) or die "Error connecting to $host: $!"; $ftp->login($username, $password) or die "Login failed: $!"; $ftp->cwd($ftpdir) or die "Can't go to $ftpdir: $!"; $ftp->get($file) or die "Can't get $file: $!"; sleep 5; $ftp->put($file) or die "Can't put $file: $!"; $ftp->quit or die "Error closing ftp connection: $!"; } if ($username == t14pb) { $password = "test2"; $ftp = Net::FTP->new($host) or die "Error connecting to $host: $!"; $ftp->login($username, $password) or die "Login failed: $!"; $ftp->cwd($ftpdir) or die "Can't go to $ftpdir: $!"; $ftp->get($file) or die "Can't get $file: $!"; sleep 5; $ftp->put($file) or die "Can't put $file: $!"; $ftp->quit or die "Error closing ftp connection: $!"; } if ($username == t14pmds_out) { $password = "test3"; $ftp = Net::FTP->new($host) or die "Error connecting to $host: $!"; $ftp->login($username, $password) or die "Login failed: $!"; $ftp->cwd($ftpdir) or die "Can't go to $ftpdir: $!"; $ftp->get($file) or die "Can't get $file: $!"; sleep 5; $ftp->put($file) or die "Can't put $file: $!"; $ftp->quit or die "Error closing ftp connection: $!"; } if ($username == t14fiserv) { $password = "test4"; $ftp = Net::FTP->new($host) or die "Error connecting to $host: $!"; $ftp->login($username, $password) or die "Login failed: $!"; $ftp->cwd($ftpdir) or die "Can't go to $ftpdir: $!"; $ftp->get($file) or die "Can't get $file: $!"; sleep 5; $ftp->put($file) or die "Can't put $file: $!"; $ftp->quit or die "Error closing ftp connection: $!"; }

  • outbound ftp on server 2008 r2 stalls

    - by Scott Kramer
the built in command line ftp client in server 2008 does not support passive mode so I've used these commands to allow outbound ftp (it stalls without this) 1) Open port 21 on the firewall netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="FTP (no SSL)" action=allow protocol=TCP dir=in localport=21 2) Activate firewall application filter for FTP (aka Stateful FTP) that will dynamically open ports for data connections netsh advfirewall set global StatefulFtp enable however in server 2008 r2, these commands seem to work, but it does not affect the outbound ftp, it stalls I do not want to use an alt client

  • Combining AD permissions with FTP

    - by user64204
We're using Windows Server 2008 with Active Directory controlling access to a network share. We've setup FTP so that people can access that share from outside (we used to use the PPTP VPN but for various reasons we need to switch to FTP). So far here is what we've managed to implement on the FTP: -The network share is used as the FTP root (defined as a UNC) and that is working fine. -AD authentication is working fine (wrong password and you stay out, good password you're in, password management in AD correctly synched with the FTP). -AD permissions are failing: the AD permissions on the content of the FTP root are ignored: it's either a user only has read or write access, but this applies to the whole FTP root, which obviously isn't suitable since that FTP root is initially our network share and files/folders have different AD permissions depending on people's groups... Whether we set the permissions through the share OR the FTP management interface, AD permissions are never enforced. Q1: Is that normal? Q2: If so what solutions exist to combine AD permissions with FTP on MS server 2008? Q3: If not, where should I look to fix the configuration?

  • Filezilla FTP Server - Security Implications of its usage on Windos Server 2003

    - by Brian Webster
I'm running Filezilla server on my dedicated windows 2003 server. It uses its own user-access control system. The Filezilla server service itself is running under the System user. When I setup users within the FTP Server Administrator Interface, I do not need to setup equivalent users, or adjust permissions on folders to allow users to login. Example: I setup TestFTP user with password 'p' I set the home directoy of TestFTP user to be e:/website I verify that e:/website only has permission for the System and Admin accounts (right click - security in windows explorer) TestFTP is able to login to the server just fine. I'm OK with this (perhaps due to ignorance?). Is it generally frounded upon to utilize a FTP Server such as FileZilla Server that bypasses the built-in UAC in this method? If I wasn't clear enough, please let me know.

  • Recommendations for good FTP server for Win 2008 x64

    - by sfhtimssf1970
I spent a bunch of time learning/configuring the "all new and better" FTP feature for IIS7. In my opinion, it still fails hard: In order to have multiple FTP sites on the same machine, you have to use host|user usernames (like domain.com|jason) for every account. Using IIS Manager auth doesn't seem to work at all. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what the hell it is. I've read all the official articles on it and configured it a hundred different ways. Doesn't play well with passive connection types. That has to be disabled on the client in order for it to work. Doesn't have any way to allow one user to see multiple sites no matter what binding they are connected to. For instance, if "jason" connects to ftp.domain.com, he should be able to see domain2.com, domain3.com without seeing domain4.com and domain5.com. It takes an act of God to set this up with IIS7. So I'm wanting to install a third party FTP server instead. I've looked at FileZilla both ZFTPServer. Anyone know of any pros/cons on these? Any other recommendations?

  • SQL Authority News – Download Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Feature Pack and Microsoft SQL Server Developer’s Edition

    - by Pinal Dave
Yesterday I attended the SQL Server Community Launch in Bangalore and presented on Performing an effective Presentation. It was a fun presentation and people very well received it. No matter on what subject, I present, I always end up talking about SQL. Here are two of the questions I had received during the event. Q1) I want to install SQL Server on my development server, where can we get it for free or at an economical price (I do not have MSDN)? A1) If you are not going to use your server in a production environment, you can just get SQL Server Developer’s Edition and you can read more about it over here. Here is another favorite question which I keep on receiving it during the event. Q2) I already have SQL Server installed on my machine, what are different feature pack should I install and where can I get them from. A2) Just download and install Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Service Pack. Here is the link for downloading it. The Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Feature Pack is a collection of stand-alone packages which provide additional value for Microsoft SQL Server. It includes tool and components for Microsoft SQL Server 2014 and add-on providers for Microsoft SQL Server 2014. • Basic Ubuntu FTP Server

    - by JPrescottSanders
I would like to setup a basic FTP server on my Ubuntu Server install. I have been playing with VSFTPD, but am having issues getting the server to allow me to create directories and copy files. I have set the system to allow local users, but it appears that doesn't mean I get access to create directories. This may be an instance where I need to be better grounded in Unbuntu server setup in order to configure this FTP server adequately. The end goal is to be able to move files from my local dev folder into my www folder for deployment. Directories need to be able to move as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • SQL SERVER – Resolving SQL Server Connection Errors – SQL in Sixty Seconds #030 – Video

    - by pinaldave
One of the most famous errors related to SQL Server is about connecting to SQL Server itself. Here is how it goes, most of the time developers have worked with SQL Server and knows pretty much every error which they face during development language. However, hardly they install fresh SQL Server. As the installation of the SQL Server is a rare occasion unless you are DBA who is responsible for such an instance – the error faced during installations are pretty rare as well. I have earlier written an article about this which describes how to resolve the errors which are related to SQL Server connection. Even though the step by step directions are pretty simple there are many first time IT Professional who are not able to figure out how to resolve this error. I have quickly built a video which is covering most of the solutions related to resolving the connection error. In the Fix SQL Server Connection Error article following workarounds are described: SQL Server Services TCP/IP Settings Firewall Settings Enable Remote Connection Browser Services Firewall exception of sqlbrowser.exe Recreating Alias Related Tips in SQL in Sixty Seconds: SQL SERVER – FIX : ERROR : (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 – Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: ) SQL SERVER – Could not connect to TCP error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it SQL SERVER – Connecting to Server Using Windows Authentication by SQLCMD SQL SERVER – Fix : Error: 15372 Failed to generate a ser instance od SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. • FTP GoDaddy Issues

    - by Brian McCarthy
Is there a special port for godaddy servers? Do I have to call them to enable ftp support? I can login w the username and password on the control panel on godaddy.com but not on ftp. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I tried using Filezilla and CuteFTP Pro using port 21 but w/ no luck. Go Daddy's Instructions are: 1.FTP Address or Hostname: Your Domain Name 2.FTP Username & Password: You selected both of these during account creation 3.Start Directory: You should leave this blank or include a single forward slash (i.e. /) 4.FTP Port: You should enter Standard, or 21. •FTP Client. ( ?Filezilla, ?WS-FTP, ?CuteFTP Pro, ?AceFTP ) Thanks!
