    I am using MTS datacard. I have usb_modeswitch installed and have configured the wvdial.conf file. When I do sudo wvdial cdma, the IPs and DNS addresses are also allocated but I still cant access internet. And this one is an excerpt from wikipedia about bit. In computing parlance, bit is the abbreviation for a single binary digit, represented by a 0 or a 1. How could I represent 1.625 by 0 or a 1?     I am on my way to Europe for 20 days with the wife and teenage kids. Among us, we have 3 iPhones, 1 Blackberry, 2 iPad 3G and 2 Macbook Pro laptops. Each has Skype. I am very concerned about AT&T data charges, and I am looking for a sensible alternative. For example, the AT&T data plans for the phones and iPads are $200 EACH for 200 MB per device. That is $1,200 and does not even cover the laptops. Ouch!!! I am thinking about a prepaid data plan from a European cell system of some sort combined with a GSM data modem and a Cradlepoint router, such as the CTR500. So, questions: 1) Anyone know of a GSM data source in Europe where I can buy a GSM Modem compatible with the CTR500 at a reasonable prepaid rate? 2) Experience with the CTR500?

  • Huawei b260a gsm modem not forwarding gre for pptp tunnel

    I have a huawei gsm modem that does not want to let gre through. The goal is to connect into a pptp server thats behind the huawei. In the modems port forwarding settings theres a ready made profile for pptp (1723). After activating that the MS pptp test tools show that connection is being initiated but no gre packets make it to the server. After taking a closer look into the modems iptables rules theres nothing in there about gre. So I tried making gre rules manualy into forward and preroute chains without any success what so ever. As far as I can tell theres no ip_gre module present on the device is that needed for gre forwarding? Thats what I'm afraid of that it doesn't support gre in NAT but how would I turn it into a bridge? The wan interface is ppp0 so bridging it with eth0 would not work right? Is there some iptables rule I could use to make the modem let all the traffic just straight through?

    I have a system with the following setup: I use: Windows CE 6 R3 Microsoft's Bluetooth stack including all profiles Motorola H500 The Audio Gateway service is up and running (checked through services list in cmd) GSM Module is functional - I am able to set outgoing calls and to answer calls. Bluetooth is functional - the A2DP profile plays music to Motorola headphones (can't remember the model right now) I want to hold a conversation using a headset device. I have included all Bluetooth components in the catalog. I pair the device using the Control Panel applet. When I press the button on the Motorla device to answer a call I get a print by the Audio Gateway: BTAGSVC: ConnectionEvent. BTAGSVC: SCOListenThread_Int - Connection Event. BTAGSVC: ConnectionEvent. BTAGSVC: SCOListenThread_Int - Connection Event. BTAGSVC: ConnectionEvent. BTAGSVC: A Bluetooth peer device has connected to the Audio Gateway. BTAGSVC: Could not open registry key for BT Addr: 2. BTAGSVC: The peer device was not accepted since the user has never confirmed it as a device to be used. So my questions are as follows: What do I need to do to pair the device with the Audio Gateway? Once my device is paired, do I need to set anything else up? (except for the GSM module of course)

    I am currently writing some pretty gnarly C#/C++/Cli code to interface with Telecommunication equipement and GSM Mobile Networks for a couple of the major telecom here and abroad. GSM networks primarily use SS7 Signaling using a protocol called TCAP to send messages back and forth to Signaling Points within the network. The laws of Tcp/ip do not apply here :) I am very interested in hearing from others in this space specifically individuals using the .NET framework most likely using C# / C++. I have not come across any .NET libraries or tools to assist in this sort of development. Most of the software in this industry is "C" / Java based, as a result I have written tons of infrastructure .NET code using C# where possible and C++ / CLI to interface with hardware. Is anyone aware of any .NET language tools for this niche industry?

I want to do this in php, but I'm really not sure how. I'm pretty good with PHP and I'm assuming you need some kind of GSM modem attached to the web server to accept the incoming phone calls, but that's really as far as I can get.     I am developing an application that relies heavily on sending SMS programmatically. I followed the examples released after 1.6 that demonstrate how to use an abstract class to implement sending for 1.5 and 1.6+. I started getting complaints from some users about how it appears as though SMS should be sent but they are in fact not. It took be a while to realize what was going on, the one 1.5 test device I have is GSM. Of course it must be because the Sprint Hero is CDMA (running 1.5). Regardless of message size I use the general form of: divideMessage() and sendMultipartTextMessage(destinationAddress, null, parts, null, null) How can I successfully send an SMS in this case? Can I call sendTextMessage() a number of times? Also, I tried unsuccessfully to find the source for the Hero's Messenger/Conversations package or equivalent, if anyone knows where to find that that would be great.
