    Is there a way to somehow verify that the googlebot finds the headings and the content, for example by word count? I'm asking this because I tried a program called Screaming Frog, which fails to even fetch the first h1 on a validated page - for about 1/3 of all the pages(!) - and got insecure. Even though the site looks hunky dory in Webmaster Tools, I'd like to know what a googlebot-like content crawler finds on my page and in what order. Any tips on such tools is appreciated. This is not about keyword count.

  • How to handle activity life cycle involving sockets in Android?

    Hello all, I have an Android activity which in turn starts a thread. In the thread I open a persistent TCP socket connection. When the socket connects to the server dynamic data is downloaded. The thread sends messages using Handler-class to the activity when data has been received. Now if the user happens to switch from portrait to landscape mode the activity gets an onDestroy call. At this moment I close the socket and stop the thread. When Android has switched landscape mode it calls onCreate yet again and I have to do a socket re-connect. Also, all of the data the activity received needs to be downloaded once more because the server does not have the ability to know what has been sent before, i.e. there is no "resume" feature. Thus the problem is that there is alot of data which is resent all the time when landscape mode is changed. What are my options here? Should I create a service which handles the socket traffic towards the server thus I always got all the data which the server has sent in the service. Or should I disable landscape mode all together perhaps? Or would my best bet be to rewrite my server which is a VERY BIG job :-) All input is welcome :-) / Henrik

  • Sharepoint 2010, 404 error after installation

    Running Windows Server 2008 Standard R2, SQL Server 2008 Enterprise, Team Foundation Server 2010, I installed Sharepoint Server 2010 (single server). It installed correctly, and the wizard configured it without errors. When accessing the sharepoint server through http://localhost/ I get a 404 error. I also get a 404 when trying to access the admin interface on port 42620. Sharepoint, TFS and Reporting services are the only application on my IIS. NOT sharing the same port, so that can't be the error. Do you have any ideas what the problem can be? Is there some way that I can debug this?

  • ADFS 2.1 proxy trust establishment error

    I'm trying to install an ADFS proxy. In our intranet we have a ADFS 2.1 server running on Windows 2012 which is working fine. Now we're trying to deploy a proxy to this one for internet access, using Windows 2012 R2's Web Application Proxy. I'm getting the following error on the proxy server, event ID 393: Message : An error occurred while attempting to establish a trust relationship with the Federation Server. An error occurred when attempting to establish a trust relationship with the federation service. Error: Forbidden Context : DeploymentTask Status : Error I'm not getting any errors on the ADFS server. I've tried with different credentials. The ADFS service account, a domain administrator who is a member of the local administrators group on the ADFs server, and the local administrator account on the ADFS server. Same error message. Both port 80 and 443 is accessible from the proxy server to the internal ADFS server, and I can access the ADFS metadata endpoint from the proxy server. I'm using the same trusted SSL certificate (wildcard) on both machines. Do you have any ideas that can help me troubleshoot this problem?

  • IIS 7 rewriting subdomain to point at a specific port

    Having installed Team Foundation Server 2010 on Windows Server 2008, I need an easy URL for our developers to access their repositories. The default URL for the TFS repositories is http://localhost:8080/tfs Now I want the subdomain domain tfs.server.domain.com to point at http://localhost:8080/tfs. And when you access tfs.server.domain.com/repos_name it should redirect to http://localhost:8080/tfs/repos_name. How can I do this in IIS7? I already tried using the following rule, but it does not work. I get a 404. <rewrite> <globalRules> <rule name="TFS" stopProcessing="true"> <match url="^(?:tfs/)?(.*)" /> <conditions> <add input="{HTTP_HOST}" pattern="^tfs.server.domain.com$" /> </conditions> <action type="Rewrite" url="http://localhost:8080/tfs/{R:1}" /> </rule> </globalRules> </rewrite> EDIT I actually got this working by adding a binding for the site on port 80 with host name tfs.server.domain.com. But using tfs.server.domain.com, I can't authenticate using Windows Authentication. Is there something that I need to configure for Windows Authentication? Now, shouldn't I be able to access the virtual directory through: http://tfs.server.mydomain.com/tfs That is not working. However, I can access it through: http://tfs.server.mydomain.com:8080/tfs But, it won't let me authenticate using a Windows account (Server\Username). A windows account that I can authenticate with, when accessing the site through http://localhost:8080/tfs. What am I missing here?

  • Win 2008 single server development environment (architecture)

    I have a few questions about a test development environment that I’m setting up on this server: Intel Core i7-920 Quadcode incl. Hyper Threading 8 GB DDR3 RAM 2x 750 GB SATA-II (probably software RAID 1) The server is going to support max 5 users, maybe 10 when stressed. I was hoping that I could run all the following products on the same server: Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 w/ IIS SQL Server 2008 x64 (R2 when released) Team Foundation Server 2010 Sharepoint Foundation 2010 I know this sounds overkill, but remember that this is for development purpose and testing. This is not a production environment. My question if this will be possible at all? Should I run it all on one Windows 2008 installation, or should I run it in multiple virtual environments using Hyper-V? What do you think?

  • Best 2x 4GB RAM for a Thinkpad X200s

    Hi, I need 2x 4GB RAM, a total of 8GB, in my upcoming Thinkpad X200s laptop. Before buying, I would like your advice on which modules to choose. I've been looking at Corsair's Value Select (P/N: CM3X4GSD1066) RAM, because in my experience they produce good RAM modules. However, Corsair lists 7 clock cycles for their modules while Lenovo lists 5 clock cycles. What do you think? Is Lenovo modules the best choice? Are they the fastest/most stable, or is it the Corsair modules? Or modules from a third vendor? Thanks in advance!

  • Dualbooting Win7 and Gentoo, error

    Hello I'm trying to setup a dualboot with Gentoo Linux and Windows 7. Heres my partitions: /dev/sda1 /boot partition, ext2 /dev/sda2 win7 partition, ntfs /dev/sda3 swap partition, linux swap /dev/sda4 root partition, btrfs Using Grub, I can boot into Gentoo, but when I'm choosing to boot Windows 7, nothing happens. It just writes the Grub options for that choice, and then it hangs. grub.conf: default 0 timeout 30 title Gentoo root (hd0,0) kernel /boot/kernel-x86_64-2.6.31 root=/dev/sda4 title Windows rootnoverify (hd0,1) makeactive chainloader +1 Any ideas? Help will be much appreciated!

  • Synchronize Active Directory to Database

    We are in a situation where we would like to offer our customers to be able to manage their users themselves. It is around 300 customers with up to a total of 10.000 users. Besides creating, updating and removing users, they will very often read information about users for statics and other useful informations available. All this functionality, should be available from an Intranet web page (.NET Framework 4) that the users will access through Citrix or similar. Now the problem is that we would really like the users not to query AD directly for each request, but rather make them hit a database that is synchronized with AD. It would be sufficient to run this synchronization a few time each day (maybe every 5. hour). When they create a user, it should not be available right away, but reviewed and then created within two days (the next step would be to remove this manual review, but that's out of scope for this question). What do you think about this synchronization of AD? Does anyone have any experience with it and is it something that is done in other organizations, where you will have lots of requests which is better handled by a database than AD (I presume)? Are there any techniques out there for writing such a script that synchronizes AD with database tables? My primary concern is the groups/members relations which can be rather complicated. Or are there software that synchronizes AD with a database? Any comments will be much appreciated. Thank you.

I have tried doing this from the command line using appcmd: appcmd start site "my website" However, this only works if I start the console window by choosing "Run as Administrator", so it won't work out-of-the-box from NAnt etc. How do I script appcmd to be run with elevated privileges (or am I going about this in the wrong way)?     I've played around with a certificate based VPN (normally I don't do hardware) we've manged to setup the connection and the tunnel between the routers is working correctly. We now need the last step. There's no connection to the computers on the other end. What could we have forgotten? (we're testing with two standard configured Win7 machines) EDIT: Just to clarify the tunnel is working I can ping the router on the other end. I can't access the computers on the other side of that router and vice versa. (It's also possible to access the remotemangement console of the remote router on the LAN IP)

    Hi, Is it possible to split a large file into smaller files on Windows 2003 using a tool provided/supported/sanctioned by Microsoft? I see that there are a lot of freeware tools (various zip tools) for this task, but I need to move files off of a production server, thus would like to avoid tools I don't know if I can trust. I would much prefer some tool included in the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools or something along those lines. Does such a tool exist? Thank you.

  • Is there a way to force the monitor to power off in Windows 8?

    I have googled this a bit and looked at powrprof.dll and PsShutdown but I haven't found a way to do exactly what I want to do. You know that power save option that lets Windows turn off your monitor(s) if you haven't touched the system for x amount of time? Well, I have a PC that needs to be on most of the day (and night), and I have to watch it much of the time, so I can't have a short timeout for automatically turning off the monitor. However, once I leave it for a few hours (happens at varying times of the day), I would like to be able to issue a command that puts the computer in this mode. Not sleep mode, not hibernate mode. Monitor off, that is all. I realize of course I could just turn the physical monitor off. That is not what I want. This Dell monitor takes forever to display a picture from a cold state. If it is turned off by the computer not sending a signal - not so bad. Is there any way for me to do this? As mentioned, the OS can do it, so I would find it really useful if I could do it too. :)

    I just installed SharePoint 2010 on my Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 server with SQL Server 2008. Everything is installed on this single server, and I configured SharePoint 2010 as described here: http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/blogs/fromthefield/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=112 Everything installed correct, and the SQL databases were created.     Hello, I'm running a few unit tests that requires a connection to the database. When my test project get initialized, a snapshot of the database is created, and when tests are done the database gets restored back to the snapshot. Here is the implementation: [TestClass] public static class AssemblyInitializer { [AssemblyInitialize()] public static void AssemblyInit(TestContext context) { var dbss = new DatabaseSnapshot(...); dbss.CreateSnapshot(); } [AssemblyCleanup()] public static void AssemblyCleanup() { var dbss = new DatabaseSnapshot(...); dbss.RevertDatabase(); } } Now this all works, but my problem arise when I have a failing test or some exception. The AssemblyCleanup is of course not invoked, so how can I solve this problem? No matter what happens, the snapshot has to be restored. Is this possible?

  • How to implement a .net 3-tier architecture using Winforms

    I have for some time build n-tier Applications using a database server as the data tier, Winforms as the presentation tier and an ASP.NET asmx webservice in the middle to send back and forth untyped Datasets. While this approach has worked for me so far, it certainly does feel outdated today. What technologies should I use if I were to create a similar architectured application today? .net 4.0 technology is welcome. I still want a database server as the datatier and the asmx webservices should probably be replaced by WCF. I would still like to have the presentation tier running as a desktop application (Winforms or WPF) so ignore ASP.net for this question. My main question really comes down to what to use as business objects. I want something that is easier to bind to the interface than untyped Datasets and strongly-typed datasets feels very heavy. I also need something that can track changes to make sure users do not override each other's changes in the database. Will the Entity Framework 4 be usable for a scenario like this? Are there any thorough guides available?
