  • Clicking hyperlinks in Email messages becomes painfully slow

    Running Windows 7 (RC, 64 bit). Suddenly, today, after months without a problem, clicking on links has become extremely slow. I've noticed this in two places. (1) clicking hyperlinks in Outlook email messages, which launches Firefox, takes around a minute. Launching Firefox by itself is instantaneous - I have an SSD drive and a very fast CPU. (2) opening Word documents attached to Outlook email messages also takes a surprisingly long time. The only thing these two might have in common is that they use the DDE mechanism, if I'm not mistaken, to send a DDE open command to the application. Under Windows XP this problem could sometimes be fixed by unchecking the "Use DDE" checkbox in the file type mapping, however, I can't find any equivalent under Windows 7.   • Word doesn't want to open hyperlinks, and I can't find the policy setting

    So I have a Surface RT (running Windows RT 8.1), and I have some Word documents with links in them. The thing is, they don't work. When I try to activate one, this happens instead: It's kind of annoying. This is a personal device, so I am the organisation - and after much spelunking and web-searching, I still can't find the relevant policy, which means I can't change it. Is it talking about Group Policy or something else entirely? Is this a[nother] Windows RT limitation, or some obscure switch I haven't found yet, or...?

  • Replacing hyperlinks in Apache2 ProxyPass

    I am using Apache2 with mod proxy on Ubuntu 12.04 as a reverse proxy to some back-end server: <VirtualHost *:80> ProxyPass / http://somewhere.com/mysite ProxyPassReverse / http://somewhere.com/mysite ServerName www.mysite.nl ServerAlias mysite.nl *.mysite.nl </VirtualHost> However, unfortunately the back-end server has some internal links hardcoded; e.g. a link to somewhere else in the site has <a href="http://somewhere.com/mysite/something"> instead of just <a href="something.png">. Is there a way I can use Apache to replace strings in the body as served by the backend before passing it back to the client? E.g replace all instances of "http://somewhere.com/site/" with "http://mysite.nl/" ? I know nginx or so is better as a reverse proxy, but the server is hosting other stuff so port 80 needs to be Apache2.

  • Make Excel 2007 open hyperlinks in Firefox

    In Excel 2007, when I click a hyperlink, it opens in IE. I'm running XP Professional SP3. Firefox is set as my default browser. Links in Word and Outlook open in Firefox. But Excel opens them in IE. Anyone know how to fix it? Edit: Process Explorer shows the command line for IE to be "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -Embedding Thanks!

  • Outlook2010 : Sending hyperlinks containing a space, <> is not working

    Previously I used Outlook 2003 and I was able to send a hyperlink with a space by typing < before entering the hyperlink and a > after typing the hyperlink and the whole thing would become a valid clickable link. Like so <\\network share with spaces\folder We upgraded to Outlook 2010 and currently this happens <\\network share with spaces\folder or if I do nothing \\network share with spaces\folder Is there a setting in one of these ribbons somewhere to control this?

  • Hyperlinks in Windows Update window not working?!

    The actual links in the Windows Update window to open the relevant knowledge base article have stopped working. They still look like links, but they just don't do anything anymore?! This started happening (or not happening!) during the last Windows Update (around 2010-10-23). At the time I believe the first link worked OK and all subsequent links did not!? In the recent Windows Update (today) no links work. I can copy and paste the text of the link into the browser and OK. Web-like links from all other applications work OK. Dec 2010 - Windows Update links still do not work. I guess this must be something specific to my machine as I've not seen it reported anywhere else?!

    I have been using HighCharts in my PHP website by migrating it from older charts and I am very impressed by the number of graph options and functions with this library. However I am not able provide hyperlinks to the values of the x-axis(or y-axis) in order to navigate to another URI. Code of Categories in this case xAxis: { categories: [ 'Jan', 'Feb', 'Mar', 'Apr', 'May', 'Jun', 'Jul', 'Aug', 'Sep', 'Oct', 'Nov', 'Dec' ] }, Can anyone point me to an example or documentation on Highcharts if available.     I have an email script written in .Net that sends html emails. The email uses normal html hyperlinks to insert a link in the email, like this: <a href="http://www.stackoverflow.com/">StackOverflow</a> The problem is that in Entourage, a hyperlink like this always shows up for me like this: StackOverflow < http://www.stackoverflow.com/ > How can I format the hyperlink in my email so that in Entourage the text "StackOverflow" is the actual hyperlink, and the URL is not displayed after the text? Is there an html meta tag that needs to be set? Do I have to set the content-type somewhere? Or is there a different html syntax on the hyperlink itself that I should use?

I want to remove the hyperlinks, but only specific ones. e.g. I start with this: This is text <a href="link/to/somewhere">Link to Remove</a> and more text with another link <a href="/link/to/somewhere/else">Keep this link</a> I want to have: This is text and more text with another link <a href="/link/to/somewhere/else">Keep this link</a> I have this RegEx expression, <a\s[^>]*>.*?</a> ... but it matches ALL of the links. What do I need to add to that expression to match only the links with the link-text 'Remove' (for example) in it? thanks in advance.

    Hi, I have made a leaderboard table on my site, which returns the users in the MySQL database with the highest scores (score is a separate field). The fields in the leaderboard table are 'rank' 'username' and 'score'. I would like to link each username in the table to it's own profile page. The profile pages are in the format /profile.php?user=$username. How would I go about adding an <a href> within the table (which is echoed in php): echo '<tr><td>' .$a. '</td><td><a href="profile.php?user=' .$row['username']. '">' .$row['username']. '</a></td><td>'.$row['count'].'</td></tr>'; I've tried the above, but it doesn't seem to work. It shows the usernames, but they don't have any hyperlinks. Thanks

  • PDF hyperlinks on iPhone/iPad

    Hi, I've been looking around Google and SO and haven't quite found an answer to my question, or at least a more recent answer. I have a PDF with hyperlinks/hotspots in it and would like to display the PDF file in my own iPhone/iPad app. When the user clicks on a hyperlink/hotspot I would like the user to be taken to the appropriate location of the link (whether another page on the PDF or a webpage outside of the app). I have found many questions like this on here, but most dated over 6 moths ago. While that might not be so long ago, it kind of is in-spite of newer technologies and the probability of someone comping up with new code/way to do it. I looked into the QuartzDemo sample app and edited the PDF to have a hotspot and it does not work. Maybe the ability is there, but not implemented? I have found one app that DOES work great! The GoodReader app displays my PDF and allows the clicking of hotspots in my PDF. However, I'd like this implemented in my own app. So, has anyone been playing around with this? Anyone find a solution? Can anyone point others in a direction? Thanks for your time.

  • How can I stop Flash from changing indent when user Clicks on hyperlink in TextField?

    I have a TextField which I initialize by setting htmlText. The text has anchor tags (hyperlinks). When a user clicks on the hyperlink, the indentation of the second and subsequent lines in the paragraph changes. Why? How do I stop it? My html has an image at the beginning of the line, followed by the tag, followed by more text. To style the hyper links to look blue always and underlined when the mouse is over them, I do this: var css:StyleSheet = new StyleSheet(); css.parseCSS("a {color: #0000FF;} a:hover {text-decoration: underline;}"); stepText.styleSheet = css; stepText.htmlText = textToUse; stepText.visible = true; Here is a fragment of the html text (with newlines and exrta whitespace added to improve readability - originally it was one long line): <textformat indent="-37" blockindent="37" > <img src="media/interface/level-1-bullets/solid-circle.png" align="left" hspace="8" vspace="1"/> American Dental Association. Clicking on the hyper link causes this particular line to be indented. Subsequent paragraphs are not affected. ASIDE: The image is a list bullet about 37 pixels wide. (I used images instead of li tags because Flash does not allow nested lists, so I faked it using a series of images with varying amounts of whitespace to simulate three levels of indentation.) IDEA: I was thinking of changing all hyperlinks to use "event:" as the URL protocol, which causes a TextEvent.LINK event to be triggered instead of following the link. Then I would have to open the browser in a second call. I could use this event handler to set the html text to itself, which might clear the problem. (When I switch pages in my application and then come back to the page, everything is OKAY again.) PROBLEM: If I use the "event:" protocol and user tries the right-mouse button click, they will get an error, or so I am told.   • Make Firefox left-click open in current tab, and middle-click open in new tab

    I'm sick of the inconsistent behavior of clicking on links in Firefox. I want control of where they open up. If I'm done with a page and want to replace it with the link I am clicking, I left-click. If there are things I want to look at in the future, but I'm not done with this page yet, I'll middle-click. This normally works, but there are exceptions. If the website designer uses target="_blank", my left-click is overridden and the link opens in a new tab/window. If the links are javascript, a middle-click rarely works. I get an (Untitled) tab with some javascript as the URL. etc. How do I fix these things and get consistent clicking on links?

  • Opening Excel 2007 to a specific worksheet from a file:// link

    Our internal website links to Excel files on a network-mapped drive. The links specify the filename and worksheet to open, in the following format (path and link information omitted): ExcelFileName#'SheetName'!$A$1 This works fine with Excel 2003, but we're moving to Excel 2007, which won't even open the file if that extra information is present. I haven't been able to find a definitive answer on whether this feature has been removed (or the syntax changed) in 2007. Any help will be highly appreciated!
