Advice needed: ADSL and VPN for a small company

Hi. I need advice on purchasing an ADSL modem/router for a small company. At the moment, we are using the iBurst Wireless service for internet connectivity. I have the iBurst desktop modem, which connects to my Netgear WNR2000 router via ethernet. I am using the Netgear WNR2000 to deploy a wireless network as well. I have also set up a VPN using Windows Server 2003, and enabled the VPN Passthrough settings on the Netgear router. I am able to connect to the office network remotely without difficulty. However the problem that I've read is that the Netgear WNR2000 only supports VPN passthrough for a single session. This is simply not good enough. I need to be able to support at least 3 concurrent VPN connections immediately, and up to 5 in the near future. Now I am cancelling my iBurst Wireless service and have just got my ADSL line installed. I have to purchase an ADSL modem, and now is a good time to think of future proofing my investment. I need a good ADSL modem, that will allow me to support at least 5 concurrent VPN connections, or more, without breaking the bank. My budget is about 150-200 USD. I believe that my current Netgear WNR2000 router will be useless, except maybe to extend my wireless network in the future by a bit. Is there a solution where I can still use my Netgear WNR2000 for WiFi, for e.g., by connecting a cheaper non-WiFi ADSL modem to the Netgear router? If not, then which WiFi-enabled ADSL modem/router that supports at least 5 VPN passthroughs can you recommend? To sum it up, I need an ADSL modem/router that is: ADSL & ADSL2+ compatible has built-in 802.11n 270/300mbps WiFi (if having this feature doesn't push the price up too much) supports at least 5 VPN connections using VPN passthrough EDIT: Answer 2.10 in the following FAQ has me a bit worried - What is VPN/multiple VPN Pass-through?

remote telnet and email

This issue has been occupying my work for the last few days and I will be understating when I say its driven me up the blasted walls. Essentially, I can ping and tracert the domain jnrcs.org and the subdomains mail.jnrcs.org and mail.jordanredcrescent.org. All three mentioned point to ip address 212.38.147.97. About 4 days ago, when we registered the domain "jnrcs.org" suddenly all external connection to the mail server from outside was lost. Not just mail, but other http based port-forwarded or natted services (such as camera surveillance and pbx services). How to copy text from Java program?

I am using one Java program called JDownloader v0.9.581 and want to copy full file and link list from main scrolling window. JDownloader is not having any way to save full list as text file. I am already trying all programs from Is there any way a user can view or copy non-editable GUI controls' contents at runtime? and Read the contents of a ComboBox (or any other windows control) and also many other programs from Google like GetWindowText. But nothing is allowing me to copy full text from a Java program like this. Someone is telling me - do printscreen and OCR - but that is not good way for me. How I can copy full text from JDownloader?

Linux clients and Windows Servers can connect but not windows clients

This is driving me insane because I can't make head or tails of it. We have two DCs (W2K3 SP1) and I'v tried this once on each machine as a sanity check. DHCP is being served by either one of the machines and all machines get an address no problem. The servers can connect/ping/browse to the www and so can all our linux clients. But NONE of our windows clients (all windows 7). I can do anything within the network, I can even ping the firewall/router but nothing from the windows clients is leaving the confines of our subnet. I don't get it. The linux and windows clients are both served from the same DHCP server, the gateway is the same, everything is the same. Anyone care to take a shot at how to resolve this? I tried adding explicit routes at the clients, but still no go. TIA SMIM

HTTP-DAV on IIS 7.0

I wan't to integrate .NET Application Updater Component in my application for auto update of client application. It says The .NET Application Updater component uses HTTP-DAV to download the application update and thus requires a Web server that supports HTTP-DAV. IIS 5.0 that comes with Windows 2000 and newer operating systems support HTTP-DAV. My server is a Windows 2008 Server and runs IIS 7.0. Does IIS 7.0 support "HTTP-DAV"? And if yes how can I enable it?

adding or routing additional domain email addresses

We have exchange 2007 and we bought a new domain name and we're still keeping the old one so that we can wean everyone off of the old emails. Now, I'm wondering how to go about this. I need to add the new domain as accepted and authoritative by the exchange server. Emails on the new domain need to get routed to the inbox and ditto the old emails, however, I want to be able to change the reply-to in the header to the new email address automatically. I also want to set the new email addresses as the defaults. Ideally, I'd like to be able to add a message at the bottom of every externally outgoing email saying that the new email is [email protected]. But this is a nice to have, certainly not a must have. I've added the new domain as authoritative, and managed to change the primary smtp email addresses to the new one, but sent emails are not being routed to them and neither are the old email addresses! Now how the heck would I go about fixing all of that? I'm completely stumped! TIA

Assigning security groups different ranges

Is it possible to assign a security group in windows 2008 a specific DHCP scope? Meaning, let's say we have 2 groups, employees and managers in the superscope Company. Assuming that each user is distinctly in either group and there are no overlaps, would it be possible to assign members of the security group employees a dhcp address in the range 192.168.1.0/24 and managers 192.168.2.0/24 ? The DHCP server is the same server. This is on Windows SBS 2008 if it makes any difference If it is possible, how do you go about setting it up. TIA

Loading and unloading ISO files in Windows 8

I saw on one site that the new Windows 8 could load ISO images without the help of other programs. Is Windows 8 creating a new drive for every ISO? Or does it have one fake drive to load all ISOS in? How can I know if a file is really an ISO inside? Some PCs use UltraISO to open ISOs. If I just enter the ISO name in DOS, it is loading in UltraISO. How can I load the ISO only in Windows 8 on all PCs, whether they have UltraISO or not? How can I unload ISOs?

Syncronizing multiple exchange servers 2007

We're introducing a new exchange server for several reasons. After the introduction of the new server, and synchronizing it with the old one (mailboxes, contacts, rules, the whole shebang) we're going to be formatting the old machine, install XenServer 5.5 on it, and create a slices, one of which will have Exchange server, which again will need to be synchronized. Then, we'll have 2 different routes to the mail servers (mx1, mx2) so that if there is an outage on one, the other should be available. So now, I'm wondering how to synch? I can move a mailbox from one server to the other, and I'm sure that can be done in bulk, but that's not what I'm looking for. I'm looking to make both Servers equal, the first time so I can make a backup of the original, and the second time so that they can be made into peers. This is with Exchange 2007 on Windows 2008 R2 (x64) Suggestions? TIA

Moving MS Exchange 2007 to another machine

We have a machine that has been chugging along with the burden of both Exchange and DC and DNS all with SBS 2008. We have a better machine now and I'd like to move Exchange 2007 to that machine and take it off of this machine. In fact, I'm planning on formatting the old machine and get rid of SBS all together because it is making the machine SLOW. How would I go about making the move? I've read on previous versions of Exchange (2000), that all you do is install Exchange on the new machine and then start moving mailboxes one after the other. Well, what about all the different rules we have in place? How do those get moved? How do we de-commission the old exchange and set up the new exchange as the primary one? Come to think of it, how do we have both exchanges recognize each other on the same domain? TIA

I have sent the following question to stackoverflow website I have installed Windows server 2008 r2 on a virtual machine, Can I install Active directory with domain controller + IIS + SQL server on the same machine? I want to make web application and this web application will authenticate users from Active Directory, the web application should be published on the server IIS and the users should access it remotely from their home using domain name of my machine, Someone tell me that its very wrong to have IIS and Active directory on the same machine I got the following Answer You can't use ActiveDirectory over the internet. At least not without something like a VPN as a middle man. Their home computers will not be joined to the domain, so there is no pass-through authentication. Yes, it's a bad idea to put AD on the web server. Why is too complex to get into in an answer here. Suffice it to say that even if you did do this, it's probably would not work the way you are thinking it should. It's not impossible to do this. For instance, many of the Microsoft "Small Businesss" products put IIS, AD, and SQL Server on the same server. But, you kind of have to know what you're doing to configure it securely. Then I add the following comment Thanks for ur reply.so what you think about the best way to do this as I didn't do anything like that before should I install active directory on a machine and IIS on another machine ? and what about SQL should I add it to the same server of active directory ? I didn't mentioned also that it will be Microsoft dynamics server that will access some information about work and i have to read data from axapta also ? also what is VPN and how can I use it to let users access my web application anywhere ? "pull" process/job into the background

I know of terminating a command with & and then moving it into the background by pressing Ctrl-Z and then bg [pid], and I also know of nohup. But say you started a process that turned out to take much longer than one expected, is there a way of pulling, so to speak, this process from another terminal screen into the background so that even if I log off from the server the process would continue?

Using IDataErrorInfo i could successfully bind the field to a class property and with the help of styles display meaningful information about the error to users.About the submit button i use the MultiDataTrigger with conditions (Based on a post here on stackoverflow).All went well. Now i need to do the same for the passwordbox and apparently it's not as straight forward.I found on wpftutorial an article and gave it a try but for some reason it wasn't working. i've tried another one from functionalfun. WPF data validation is overriding theme on the interface

How to make Flash 'play well with others'?

What up fam. So this isn't a question asking about memory management schemes; for those of you who may not know, the Flash Virtual Machine relies on garbage collection by using reference counting and mark and sweep (for good coverage of these topics, check out Grant Skinner's article and presentation). And yes, Flash also provides the "delete" operator, which can (unfortunately only) be used to remove the properties of dynamic objects. What I want to know is how to make it so that Flash programs don't continue to consume CPU and memory while running in the background (save loading content or communicating remotely, for example). The motivation for this question comes in part from Apple's ban on cross compiled applications (in its SDK 4) on the grounds that they do not behave as predicted with the multitasking feature central to iPhone OS 4. My intention is not only to make Flash programs that will 'pass muster' as far as multitasking in iPhone OS 4, but also to simply make better (behaving) Flash programs. Put another way, how might a Flash application mimic the multitasking feature of iPhone OS 4? Does the Flash API provide the means for a developer to put their applications to 'sleep' while other programs run, and then to 'awaken' them just as quickly? Hello Good people! I'm building an WPF application that connect to web services for its operations.Things that i needed to be working are so far fine.Now i'll like to improve use experience by adding features like username editable combobox, sign me in when skype start and start when computer start. I have a fair idea about each feature but very small knowledge about their implementation. Question 1 username combobox : i use a combobox with isEditable set to true but i think it doesnt have the previous username, would that mean that i have to store every successful login username in a sqlite for example? Question 2 sign me in when skype start : i think about using sqlite after all to store the credentials and store the value (as in true or false) if autologin has to be performed. Question 3 start when computer start : i know it's about having is as service.but the process of using it as a service and removing its service when checkbox is checked or unckecked is a bit confusing to me. Question 4 Please wait(signing in) of skype if i want to do things like please wait at login(login is over webservice) in a WPF application should i use a animated gif in a grid that i can show when hiding the login combobox and passwordbox grid or i should use an animated object(for which i have no knowledge about for now) ? This post in mainly for you experts to either point me to the right resource and tell me what is done as best practice. things like dos and dons.Thanks for reading this and please let me have a clair idea about how to start implementing those features. thanks again

Hello Experts!!! I've been facing a deployment problem.I've built a WPF application with visual studio 2008 and created an installer(msi) which works fine.But then it's pain to add automatic update to it. i've seen this article at windowsclient.net but it seems to be pretty old but could have been the perfect thing for me.Then i looked at the .Net Application updater block v2.0 which uses enterprise library june 2005 and for some reason it's not installing on my machine. I thought i will need to use a more recent Enterprise library so i installed and compiled Enterprise 4.1(october 2008) but nothing better happened.To i decided to give a try to CLickonce deployment.After struggling with it, it was almost perfect.I realized that when i was testing the updates provided by the clickonce on my machine which is XP i didn't notice the need of having sqlite dll in the GAC. surely it was already there.I noticed it when i moved to vista that there is a problem.After checking the net i know it's impossible to add a dll to the Global Assembly Cache. Now i'm stuck, i think i've hit a wall.Can any one share some of his experience? I'm willing to try the updater block if i can get help. Thanks for reading this!!

If you've noticed i commented a portion of the xaml code. with that i could bind(with ease) the id to the tag.But it won't work and the MenuItem.ItemContainerStyle is the one working but then i'm lost: Question 1 : how do i create a handler method for a click event of a submenu that has the names of the groups? problem in multiple asynchronous calls on webservice method in wpf application

Hello Experts! i'm trying to create an application which connects to internet and consume web services for every of it's operation.As far as i'm concerned i'll like to useasync method which i'm using already to get a collection of Contacts.I've realized that when i'm doing the same for groups (meaning getting groups async) i'm having errors in the calls , but when using normal call there ins't.So i did some research online and find that a lot of people has the same problem. Some of them are asked to use WCF (for which i don't know jack).I'll like to know if there is another way to overcome this. if not can somebody point me to reliable resource online and help me get through it? thanks for reading and helping
