  • How can I make my Video play as soon as the page loads

    - by bill
im lost here, need some help for something probably very simple: I have embedded a swf object to play an flv file. i want the video to play as soon as the page loads rather than requiring the viewer/user to have to click the play button to see the video. I'm not sure if it is the swf file, the script or the javascipt file that has to be edited, and with what code. thanks

  • Launching an external application from within a NPAPI Plugin

    - by Adam Cobb
I am trying to work out why an NPAPI plugin I have written, which works fine in terms of performing operations triggered via Javascipt calls, cannot use CreateProcess() or ShellExecute() to launch an application from a path specified via the Javascript call. I can seemingly use either of these methods and they return success, i.e. no error code. But the application just does not launch. I have tried modifying the parameters used when calling them, to create new process group etc. But seemingly with no effect. I know this may seem like a bit of a security risk, but for the very specific purpose we wish to use it for it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks.

  • What's the easiest/fast way to get my website up and running on the web?

    - by ggfan
This is probably a really really beginner's question, but I would like to know what's the fastest way to get my site on the web so that people can start using it. I'm learning everything about programming out of books and at home so I don't have much experience. --Before I go to like godaddy.com or such site to get a domain name, is there any free sites that would allow me to upload my site so users can use it? I have html, css, php, mysql, javascipt in my scripts so I don't think many sites allow free uploads with such languages. --If I can't find a free site, is there any good places to get a domain name and web hosting that supports most languages at a low price? (doesn't have to be professional hosting because I am still a beginner) --If I go to say godaddy.com and get their webhosting and domain name, would I be allowed to run php, mysql, python, java on it? (I looked at some hosting sites and most only allow php/mysql)

  • Get the selected value from a Select box and check that value against an array in the same form

    - by Rob Allen
I'm new to JSTL/EL and JSP and can't seem to find a reference which covers the following scenario: I have an array of values in JavaScipt: var Countries = ('US', 'CA'); I then need to check to see if the currently selected value of a standard HTML select box is in that array. This is what I have so far: <select id="shippingCountry"> <option value="AT">Austria</option> <option value="CA">Canada</option> <option value="DE">Germany</option> //... <option value="US">United States</option> </select> <c:choose> <c:when test=" "> // I don't know what to put in the 'test' case <span class="required">*</span> </c:when> </c:choose>

  • using javascript setTimeout to see if div has loaded

    - by Matt
I'm loading remote data using dynamic script tags and JSON. the remote page that I'm displaying on my website has a div in it that I use to load content into. The problem is the javascript functions do not see the div as the page loads because it is remote data. if I set a timeout of about 300 it usually works and my javascipt can see the div. But sometimes it takes longer and it breaks the javascript. I'm tring this: function load_content() { if(document.getElementById('remote_div')==null) { setTimeout('load_content()', 300); } else { document.getElementById('remote_div').innerHTML = 'Content goes here' } } but it just doesn't seem to work... what is wrong with it?

  • Is Jquery $(this) broken by jqgrid gridunload method?

    - by chohi
I expect the following code to unload a javascipt jqgrid, then load another grid with different options, including different columns //onload (function($) $.fn.myGridFn = function(options){ $(this).jqGrid('GridUnload'); $(this).jqGrid(options.gridoptions); //.... $('#select').change(function(){ switch($(this).val()) { case 'grid1': $('#grid').myGridFn({gridoptions:{/*grid1 options*/}}); break; case 'grid2': $('#grid').myGridFn({gridoptions:{/*grid2 options*/}}); break; } }); })(jQuery); //... <table id="grid"></table> What I get is the grid unloading, then I have to change the selection in the select element and back again to load the new grid. Updated: If I replace the $(this) in the plugin with the actual element selector $('#grid') - it works just fine, I cant do this in my real app because the plugin is used by several other table elements and grids

  • Understanding configuration for parallel calling in web app (IIS + MS SQL)

    - by mmcteam.com.ua
We have an ASP.NET MVC application + IIS 7.5 + SQL Server 2008 R2. We have to load a lot of aggregate counters on the each page. We decided to use ajax and call with javascript for each counter or groups of counters and return them as JSON result. We solve the problem that user doesn't wait for page loading, page loads fast. User waits for counters loading while seeing other page content. But we thought that if we make calls from javascript - our queries will be make async, but we notice, that it is not. All our javascipt calls runs immediately, but action that they invoke are in queue. If we use Async Controller ability - all counters calculating simultaneously, but user has to wait for the longest counter calculating before page loads. The question: We want to understand what is happens if we use ajax and call two or more actions simultaneously. And how can we configuring this. (also in each action we make some queries to sql server)

  • Is there a way to embed an mp3 player in a website that isn't flash based (so that the website is iP

    - by hartleybrody
I did a lot of searching for what I thought would be a pretty common question, but I came up with nothing. If there is another thread with a similar topic, please let me know. Basically, I'm looking for a way to have an .mp3 file play in a website without relying on a flash-based player. I've searched w3 schools and every forum I can think of, but every media player I've found so far has been some sort of proprietary flash player. Doesn't HTML support some sort of native player? I've found some that rely on Windows Media Player which is close, but I want the player to work on an iPhone and something tells me WMP won't get that done... PS, as I'm thinking more about this this idea just popped into my head: a javascipt player and inside the <noscript> tag, put a flash player? I'm running a music blog (@ http://www.freshoncampus.com) so the less code per post, the better...

  • Get Classic ASP variable from posted JSON

    - by Will
I'm trying to post JSON via AJAX to a Classic ASP page, which retrieves the value, checks a database and returns JSON to the original page. I can post JSON via AJAX I can return JSON from ASP I can't retrieve the posted JSON into an ASP variable POST you use Request.Form, GET you use Request.Querystring......... what do I use for JSON? • Stack Overflow works best with JavaScript enabled banner

    - by carpenter
I am trying to mimic this site's Javascipt required banner, and have the below divs which are being hidden if javascript is allowed/enabled, but I am getting a flash/glimps of it on page load. <div id="Main_noJS">Craftystuff.com works best with JavaScript enabled</div> <div id="PartOfMain_noJS"><br /></div> CSS: #Main_noJS { width: 100%; height: 23px; font-family: Arial; font-size: 111%; color: White; font-weight: bold; background: #AE0000; text-align: center; padding-top: 4px; position: fixed; z-index: 100; } JavaScript: // hide the "Craftystuff.com works best with JavaScript enabled" banner, if JavaScript is working if ($("#Main_noJS")) { $("#Main_noJS").hide(); // hide the spacer between the main content and banner... $("#PartOfMain_noJS").hide(); } So the banner is visible to start with, and only when javascript is enabled do I hide it but javascript must take a second to get to work to hide things... I would like to try to stop the glimps of the banner, when the page first loads, any help?

  • Actual element tags are not getting captured.

    - by user323719
I am using the below piece of XSL code to construct a span tag calling a javascript function on mouseover. The input to the javascipt should be a html table. The output from the variable "showContent" gives just the text content but not along with the table tags. How can this be resolved. XSL: <xsl:variable name="aTable" as="element()*"> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <xsl:for-each select="$capturedTags"> <tr><td><xsl:value-of select="node()" /></td></tr> </xsl:for-each> </table> </xsl:variable> <xsl:variable name="start" select='concat("Tip(&#39;", "")'></xsl:variable> <xsl:variable name="end" select='concat("&#39;)", "")'></xsl:variable> <xsl:variable name="showContent"> <xsl:value-of select='concat($start,$aTable,$end)'/> </xsl:variable> <span xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" onmouseout="{$hideContent}" onmouseover="{$showContent}" id="{$textNodeId}"><xsl:value-of select="$textNode"></xsl:value-of></span> Actual Output: <span onmouseout="UnTip()" onmouseover="Tip('content1')" id="d1t14"is my </span Expected output: <span onmouseout="UnTip()" onmouseover="Tip('<table><tr><td>content1</td></tr>')" id="d1t14">is my </span> What is the change that needs to done in the above XSL for the table, tr and td tags to get passed?

  • How to use Enquire.Js?

    - by big_smile
Enquire.js is a Javascipt that re-creates CSS media queries for Javascripts. This means you can wrap your Javascripts in Media Queries. (Just like you would wrap CSS in Media Queries). I'm not quite sure how to use it. This tutorial says this: enquire.register("max-width: 960px", function() { // put your code here }); However, when I follow that, my code stops working. Here is an example of some Jquery Tabs without Enquire.JS. It works fine. Here are the same tabs, but with Enquire.JS added. Now it stops working. I've experimented with different variations of the code, but none of them work. What am I doing wrong? I think you might have place the Jquery Tab code in a separate file and then link to that file from within Enquire.Js, but I'm not sure how you would do that. (Although it would be handy to know as I'd imagine it would let you keep your scripts be more reusable). PS. This is not a criticism of Enquire.Js. I know that the problem lies squarely with my lack of proficiency in Javascript! I did spend a couple of hours searching for a solution, but couldn't find anything. Thanks for any help!

  • How bad is it to embed JavaScript into the body of HTML?

    - by Andrew
A team that I am working on has gotten into the habit of using <script> tags in random places in the body of our HTML pages. For example: <html> <head></head> <body> <div id="some-div"> <script type="text/javascript">//some javascipt here</script> </div> </body> </html> I had not seen this before. It seems to work in the few browsers that I've tested. But as far as I know, it's not valid to put script tags in places like this. Am I wrong? How bad is it that we are putting script tags within div tags like this? Are there any browser compatibility issues I should be aware of?

    Hi all! have problems with mouseover in Mozilla and Chrome after making it work in IE, for sure I can tell you that my code woked perfectly in Chrome at least, cause thats my default browser and I used it for debuging when creating the javascipt and it worked nicely... until I tried to make it work in IE too. Here I post the full code of the webpage I'm having trouble with. <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="WebbShop.aspx.cs" Inherits="FSwebportal.WebbShop" %> .prodShow{width: 100%; text-align:center;border:0; float:right; position:inherit; padding-left:310px;} prodFollow{display:block; width:100%; height:100%; position:fixed; overflow:hidden;} orderSett{display:block; position:relative; float:left; padding-top:inherit;} .ShowBig{width:290px;height:290px; padding-top:10px;} .pTb{width:50px;} .order{background-color:Transparent;margin:3px;} .txtArea{border:0;overflow:auto;width:200px;height:100px;} .prodRow{background-image:url("produktbakgrund.png"); background-repeat:repeat;} .row{background-color:Transparent;width:100%;margin: 0px auto;display:inline-table;} .col{background-color:Transparent;width:100%;margin:3px;} <div id="prodFollow"> <table id="dumbTable"> <tr> <td> <img id="sideImg" class="ShowBig" src="" alt=""/> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <h3><b>Specifikationer:</b></h3> <select name=""> </select> </td> </tr> </table> </div> <table id="itemList" class="prodShow" cellspacing="0"> <thead> <tr class="prodRow"> <th>Bild</th> <th>Förklaring</th> <th>Artikelnummer</th> <th>Pris</th> </tr> </thead> </table> <script type="text/javascript"> function appendRow() { var tbl = document.getElementById('itemList'); var len = <%= aspInfo.Count %>; var arr = new Array(len); var currIndex = 0; var imgID=0; <% for (int x = 0; x < aspInfo.Count; x++) { Response.Write("arr["+x+"]= '"+ aspInfo[x]+"';"); } %> for(row =0; row < arr.length/4;row++) { var rad = tbl.insertRow(tbl.rows.length); rad.setAttribute('class','prodRow'); for (c = 0; c < tbl.rows[row].cells.length; c++) { if(c < 1) { createCell(rad.insertCell(c), arr[currIndex], 'col',imgID); imgID++; } else { if(c < 3) { createCell(rad.insertCell(c),"<Label class=txtArea>" + arr[currIndex] + "</Label>", 'row',imgID); } else { createCell(rad.insertCell(c),"<Label class=txtArea>" + arr[currIndex] + " SKR</Label><br>Antal:<input type=text class=pTb /><input type=button width=100px value='Lägg i varukorg'></input>", 'order',imgID); } } currIndex++; } } } function createCell(cell, text, style,imgID) { if (style == 'col') { var arrLen = <% = largeImg.Count %>; var imgArr = new Array(arrLen); <% for (int x = 0; x < largeImg.Count; x++) { Response.Write("imgArr["+x+"]= '"+ largeImg[x]+"';"); } %> var div = document.createElement('div'); div.setAttribute('class', style); div.setAttribute('className', style); div.innerHTML = "<a href='#'><img id='" + imgID + "' src='" + text + "' onmouseover=javascript:onImg('" + imgArr[imgID] + "') border='0' alt='Animg' /></a>"; cell.appendChild(div); } else { var div = document.createElement('div'); div.setAttribute('class', style); div.setAttribute('className', style); div.innerHTML = text; cell.appendChild(div); } } </script> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function onImg(bigImg) { var img = document.getElementById('sideImg#'); img.src = bigImg; alert(img.src.toString()); } </script> </form> hope you guys can solve it for me, going mad! best regards David
