  • WPF performance : Converters vs. Triggers

    - by Joachim Kerschbaumer
hi there, i´m currently facing a problem where i have to set properties on a bunch of framework elements depending on some other properties. i wonder how triggers and converters compare when it comes to performance. Especially MultiTriggers and IMultiValueConverters. Is there any difference? google wasn't helpful so i thought maybe some of the guys over here at SO could bring in some light. thanks, j.

  • Building ARM assembler vorbis decoder lib 'Tremolo' for iPhone

    - by Joachim Bengtsson
I'm trying to compile Tremolo for iPhone. I've pulled in the files bitwise.c bitwiseARM.s codebook.c dpen.s dsp.c floor0.c floor1.c floor1ARM.s floor_lookup.c framing.c info.c mapping0.c mdct.c mdctARM.s misc.c res012.c into a new target, added the following custom settings: GCC_PREPROCESSOR_DEFINITIONS = _ARM_ASSEM_ GCC_C_LANGUAGE_STANDARD = gnu99 GCC_THUMB_SUPPORT = YES ... but as soon as xcode reaches the first assembler file, bitwiseARM.s, I get errors like these: /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:3:Unknown pseudo-op: .global /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:3:Rest of line ignored. 1st junk character valued 111 (o). /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:4:Unknown pseudo-op: .global /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:4:Rest of line ignored. 1st junk character valued 111 (o). /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:5:Unknown pseudo-op: .global /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:5:Rest of line ignored. 1st junk character valued 111 (o). /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:6:Unknown pseudo-op: .global /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:6:Rest of line ignored. 1st junk character valued 111 (o). /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:11:bad instruction `STMFD r13!,{r10,r11,r14}' /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:12:bad instruction `LDMIA r0,{r2,r3,r12}' /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:16:bad instruction `SUBS r2,r2,r1' /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:17:bad instruction `BLT look_slow' /tremolo/bitwiseARM.s:19:bad instruction `LDR r10,[r3]' The first error I could google, and changing .global to .globl fixed the first errors, but I still get the bad instructions, and I don't get why. Googling for the ARM instruction set, the above instructions look valid to me. I've tried toggling thumb support, and building for just armv7 instead of armv6, but neither helped.

  • how can I check my rsa passphrase?

    - by joachim
I think I've forgotten my RSA passphrase again. Is there a way to have my local command line prompt me for it so I can check if I at least what I remember it as is correct, so I don't needlessly change it? Next time I'm writing it on a post-it ;)

  • Why can't I use the return from an insertAfter as a regular jQuery object?

    - by joachim
I'm trying to insert a link after form elements to clear them. This demo code with headings doesn't work: h2 = $('h2'); clickytest = $('click me').insertAfter(h2).click(function() { $(this).append('foo'); }); But this does: clickytest = $('click me').insertAfter(h2); $('a.clicky').click(function() { $(this).append('foo'); }); The only difference is I've gone back and re-selected the new elements, rather than use what insertAfter returns. If on the other hand there is only one H2 in the whole document, then the first version works. What's going on? I've tried playing with each() but I'm not sure exactly what jQuery is doing here.

  • ASP.NET Membership for high security scenarios?

    - by Joachim Kerschbaumer
Hi there, Is the asp.net membership system used over wcf (transport security turned on) enough for high security internet scenarios with thousands of clients spread all over the internet? I'm just evaluating possible solutions and wanted to know if this might fit in this category. If not, what would be the best method to provide high security access over wcf for internet scenarios?

    - by Joachim Kerschbaumer
hi there, i`m using sql server ce together with sync framework. however, sync framework creates some system tables when calling the CreateSchema() method of the SqlCeClientSyncProvider. • Creating webpage on form submit?

    - by Joachim Mcdonald
How is it possible to allow a user to create a webpage containing some html, based on their entries in a form? ie. I would want them to be able to input a name and when the button is clicked, a webpage called that name would be created. I imagine that this must be possible in php, but what functions/code would I be using? Thank you!

  • New VS2012 Book: Pro Application Lifecycle Management with Visual Studio 2012

    - by Jakob Ehn
During the spring/summer I have been involved with reviewing a new book about Visual Studio 2012 ALM from Apress called “Pro Application Lifecycle Management with Visual Studio 2012” The book is written by a fellow Visual Studio ALM MVP Mathias Olausson and his colleague Joachim Rossberg. It is a very comprehensive book that covers both all aspects of ALM in general and also how to implement these practices with Visual Studio 2012. The book also has several chapters dedicated to measuring your improvements by using ALM assessments and metrics. Read more about the book here on Mathias blog: http://msmvps.com/blogs/molausson/archive/2012/07/17/book-project-pro-application-lifecycle-management-with-visual-studio-2012-completed.aspx You can pre-order the book here at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Application-Lifecycle-Management-Visual-Professional/dp/1430243449/ Check it out!

  • WCF and streaming requests and responses

    - by Cheeso
Is it correct that in WCF, I cannot have a service write to a stream that is received by the client? My understanding is that streaming is supported in WCF for requests, responses, or both. Is it true that in all cases, the receiver of the stream must invoke Read ? I would like to support a scenario where the receiver of the stream can Write on it. Is this supported? Let me show it this way. The simplest example of Streaming in WCF is the service returning a FileStream to a client. This is a streamed response. The server code is like this: [ServiceContract] public interface IStreamService { [OperationContract] Stream GetData(string fileName); } public class StreamService : IStreamService { public Stream GetData(string filename) { FileStream fs = new FileStream(filename, FileMode.Open) return fs; } } And the client code is like this: StreamDemo.StreamServiceClient client = new WcfStreamDemoClient.StreamDemo.StreamServiceClient(); Stream str = client.GetData(@"c:\path\to\myfile.dat"); do { b = str.ReadByte(); //read next byte from stream ... } while (b != -1); (example taken from http://blog.joachim.at/?p=33) Clear, right? The server returns the Stream to the client, and the client invokes Read on it. Is it possible for the client to provide a Stream, and the server to invoke Write on it? In other words, rather than a pull model - where the client pulls data from the server - it is a push model, where the client provides the "sink" stream and the server writes into it. Is this possible in WCF, and if so, how? What are the config settings required for the binding, interface, etc? The analogy is the Response.OutputStream from an ASP.NET request. In ASPNET, any page can invoke Write on the output stream, and the content is received by the client. Can I do something similar in WCF? Thanks.
