  • Insert Into Two SQL Tables From XML Maintaining Relationship

    - by Thx
    I am looking to insert records from xml into two different tables. For example <Root> <A> <AValue>1</AValue> <Children> <B> <BValue>2</BValue> </B> </Children> </A> </Root> Would insert a record into table A AID AValue # 1 also insert a record into table B BID AID BValue # #(Same as AID Above) 2 I have this DECLARE @idoc INT DECLARE @doc NVARCHAR(MAX) SET @doc = ' <Root> <A> <AValue>1</AValue> <Children> <B> <BValue>2</BValue> </B> </Children> </A> </Root> ' EXEC sp_xml_preparedocument @idoc OUTPUT, @doc CREATE TABLE #A ( AID INT IDENTITY(1, 1) , AValue INT ) INSERT INTO #A SELECT * FROM OPENXML (@idoc, '/Root/A',2) WITH (AValue INT ) CREATE TABLE #B ( BID INT IDENTITY(1, 1) , AID INT , BValue INT ) INSERT INTO #B SELECT * FROM OPENXML (@idoc, '/Root/A/Children/B',2) WITH ( AID INT, BValue INT ) SELECT * FROM #A SELECT * FROM #B DROP TABLE #A DROP TABLE #B Thanks!

  • PHP, what is the better choice for removing a known string?

    - by Brook Julias
I am looking to search for and replace a known string from within another string. Should I use str_replace() or ereg_replace()? The string to be replaced would be something similar to [+qStr+], [+bqID+], or [+aID+] and it would be being searched for in a code chunk similar to this: <li> [+qStr+] <ol class="mcAlpha"> <li><input type="radio" name="[+bqID+]" id="[+bqID+]_[+aID+]" value="[+aID+]" /><label for="[+bqID+]_[+aID+]">[+aStr+]</label></li> </ol> </li> I would be replacing the strings with the results from a MySQL query, and be performing this action or similar up to 200 times at a time. Which function str_replace() or ereg_replace() would be the easiest and/or quickest method to take.

  • MySQL - Join as zero if record Not IN

    - by Zurahn
To explain by example, take two tables, A and B Table A id foo 1 x 2 y 3 z Table B id aid bar 1 3 50 2 1 100 An example join SELECT foo, bar FROM a, b WHERE a.id = b.aid; Garners a result of foo bar z 50 x 100 What I would like to do is get all values of foo and for any instances where there isn't a corresponding bar value, return 0 for that column. My best guess was something along the lines of SELECT foo, bar AS br FROM a, b WHERE a.id = b.aid OR a.id NOT IN (SELECT aid FROM b); But that returns duplicates and non-zero values for bar. Possible?

  • sql combine two subqueries

    - by Claudiu
    I have two tables. Table A has an id column. Table B has an Aid column and a type column. Example data: A: id -- 1 2 B: Aid | type ----+----- 1 | 1 1 | 1 1 | 3 1 | 1 1 | 4 1 | 5 1 | 4 2 | 2 2 | 4 2 | 3 I want to get all the IDs from table A where there is a certain amount of type 1 and type 3 actions. My query looks like this: SELECT id FROM A WHERE (SELECT COUNT(type) FROM B WHERE B.Aid = A.id AND B.type = 1) = 3 AND (SELECT COUNT(type) FROM B WHERE B.Aid = A.id AND B.type = 3) = 1 so on the data above, just the id 1 should be returned. Can I combine the 2 subqueries somehow?

  • How to retain a row which is foreign key in another table and remove other duplicate rows?

    - by Mithril
I have two table: A: id code 1 A1 2 A1 3 B1 4 B1 5 C1 6 C1 ===================== B: id Aid 1 1 2 4 (B doesn't contain the Aid which link to code C1) Let me explain the overall flow: I want to make each row in table A have different code(by delete duplicate),and I want to retain the Aid which I can find in table B.If Aid which not be saved in table B,I retain the id bigger one. so I can not just do something as below: DELETE FROM A WHERE id NOT IN (SELECT MAX(id) FROM A GROUP BY code, ) I can get each duplicate_code_groups by below sql statement: SELECT code FROM A GROUP BY code HAVING COUNT(*) > 1 Is there some code in sql like for (var ids in duplicate_code_groups){ for (var id in ids) { if (id in B){ return id } } return max(ids) } and put the return id into a idtable?? I just don't know how to write such code in sql. then I can do DELETE FROM A WHERE id NOT IN idtable

  • How do I recover files from my Windows 7 VirtualBox partition?

    - by Kool Caveen Gmail
I have Windows Vista Installed on my laptop. I ran and created a virtual OS from VMware. Inside that OS, I created 2 partitions and stored the files on the second drive. Now my Windows 7 installed in VirtualBox has been corrupted and needs to be repaired. VirtualBox itself is not corrupted, but the Windows 7 that runs in VirtualBox is. Instead of repairing, I only want to get my data from this second partition. Is it possible?

  • Traditional ASP.Net WebForms vs ASP.Net MVC

    - by Pankaj Upadhyay
ASP.Net MVC has been around for some time now. The latest one, i.e MVC3 comes with Razor View Engine. My question: How long is traditional ASP.Net here to stay. Does Microsoft have any plans to eliminate it in aid of ASP.Net MVC in the future and will the next release of VS incorporate it? Also, I would like to know if there is any merit of traditional over ASP.Net MVC, other than the controls-aid?

  • Walking to the North Pole to raise money to protect children from cruelty.

    - by jessica.ebbelaar
Hi, my name is Luca. I joined Oracle in 2005 and I am currently working as a Dell EMEA Channel Manager UK, Ireland and Iberia and I am responsible for the Oracle Dell relationship for the above 3 countries. On the 31st of March 2011 I will set out to complete the ultimate challenge. I will walk and ski across the frozen Arctic to the Top of The World: the GEOGRAPHIC North Pole. While dragging all my supplies over 60 Nautical miles of moving sea ice, in temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius. I will spend 8 to 10 days preparing, working, living and travelling to the North Pole to 90 degree north. In November I spent a full week of training for this trip.( watch my video). This gave me the opportunity to meet the rest of the team, testing all the gear and carrying an 18inch tyre around the country side for 8 hours per day. I am honored to embark this challenging journey to support the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC). The NSPCC helped more than 750,000 young people to speak out for the first time about abuse they had suffered. I am a firm believer that in order to build a stronger, healthier and wiser society we need to support and help future generations from the beginning of their life journey. This is why cruelty to children must stop. FULL STOP.   Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to NSPCC. Virgin Money Giving is a non-profit organization and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. If you are a UK tax payer please don't forget to select Gift Aid. Gift Aid is great because it means charities get extra money added to their donations at no extra cost to the donor. For every £1 donated, the charity currently receives £1.28 when you add Gift Aid. Anyone who would like to find out more can visit my Facebook page ‘Luca North Pole charity fundraising trip’ I really appreciate all your support and thank you for supporting the NSPCC. • Randomised objects are assigning themselves to more than one array location

    - by Thaddeus Aid
    this.size = 9; this.populationSize = 10; Random rand = new Random(); Integer[][] easy1 = new Integer[size][size]; easy1 = this.initializeEasy1(easy1); this.sudokuArray = new Sudoku[this.populationSize]; for (int i = 0; i < this.sudokuArray.length; i++){ long seed = rand.nextLong(); System.out.println("" + seed); this.sudokuArray[i] = new Sudoku(easy1, this.size, seed); } I am building an evolutionary sudoku solver and I am having a problem where the last Sudoku object is overwriting all the other objects in the array. Where in the code did I mess up? /edit here is the constructor of the class public Sudoku(Integer[][] givensGrid, int s, long seed){ this.size = s; this.givens = givensGrid; this.grid = this.givens.clone(); Random rand = new Random(seed); System.out.println("Random " + rand.nextInt()); // step though each row of the grid for (int i = 0; i < size; i++){ ArrayList<Integer> numbers = new ArrayList<Integer>(); numbers = this.makeNumbers(numbers); // step through each column to find the givens and remove from numbers for (int j = 0; j < size; j++){ if (this.grid[i][j] != 0){ numbers.remove(this.grid[i][j]); } } // go back through the row and assign the numbers randomly for (int j = 0; j < size; j++){ if (this.grid[i][j] == 0){ int r = rand.nextInt(numbers.size()); this.grid[i][j] = numbers.get(r); numbers.remove(r); } } } System.out.println("============="); System.out.println(this.toString()); }

  • XSL(like) declarative language as MVC view over strongtyped model?

    - by Martin Kool
As a huge XSL fan, I am very happy to use xsl as the view in our proprietary MVC framework on ASP.NET. Objects in the model are serialized under the hood using .NET's xml serializer, and we use quite atomic xsl templates to declare how each object or property should transform. For example: <xsl:template match="/Article"> <html> <body> <div class="article"> <xsl:apply-templates /> </div> </body> </html> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="Article/Title"> <h1> <xsl:apply-templates /> </h1> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="@*|text()"> <xsl:copy /> </xsl:template> This mechanism allows us to quickly override default matching templates, like having a template matching on the last item in a list, or the selected one, etc. Also, xsl extension objects in .NET allow us just the bit of extra grip that we need. Common shared templates can be split up and included. However Even though I can ignore the verbosity downside of xsl (because Visual Studio schema intellisense + snippets really is slick, praise to the VS-team), the downside of not having intellisense over strongtyped objects in the model is really something that's bugging me. I've seen ASP.NET MVC + user controls in action and really starting to love it, but I wonder; Is there a way of getting some sort of intellisense over XML that we're iterating over, or do you know of a language that offers the freedom and declarativeness of XSL but has the strongtype/intellisense benefits of say webforms/usercontrols/asp.net.mvc-view? (I probably know the answer: "no", and I'll find myself using Phil Haack's utterly cool mvc shizzle soon...)

  • How to efficiently get all instances from deeper level in Cocoa model?

    - by Johan Kool
In my Cocoa Mac app I have an instance A which contains an unordered set of instances B which in turn has an ordered set of instances C. An instance of C can only be in one instance B and B only in one A.   I would like to have an unordered set of all instances C available on instance A. I could enumerate over all instances B each time, but that seems expensive for something I need to do often. However, I am a bit worried that keeping track of instances C in A could become cumbersome and be the cause of  inconsistencies, for example if an instance C gets removed from B but not from A.  Solution 1 Use a NSMutableSet in A and add or remove C instances whenever I do the same operation in B.  Solution 2 Use a weak referenced NSHashTable in A. When deleting a C from B, it should disappear for A as well.  Solution 3 Use key value observing in A to keep track of changes in B, and update a NSMutableSet in A accordingly.  Solution 4 Simply iterate over all instances B to create the set whenever I need it.   Which way is best? Are there any other approaches that I missed?  NB I don't and won't use CoreData for this app.

  • Hibernate Query for a List of Objects that matches a List of Objects' ids

    - by sal
Given a classes Foo, Bar which have hibernate mappings to tables Foo, A, B and C public class Foo { Integer aid; Integer bid; Integer cid; ...; } public class Bar { A a; B b; C c; ...; } I build a List fooList of an arbitrary size and I would like to use hibernate to fetch List where the resulting list will look something like this: Bar[1] = [X1,Y2,ZA,...] Bar[2] = [X1,Y2,ZB,...] Bar[3] = [X1,Y2,ZC,...] Bar[4] = [X1,Y3,ZD,...] Bar[5] = [X2,Y4,ZE,...] Bar[6] = [X2,Y4,ZF,...] Bar[7] = [X2,Y5,ZG,...] Bar[8] = ... Where each Xi, Yi and Zi represents a unique object. I know I can iterate fooList and fetch each List and call barList.addAll(...) to build the result list with something like this: List<bar> barList.addAll(s.createQuery("from Bar bar where bar.aid = :aid and ... ") .setEntity("aid", foo.getAid()) .setEntity("bid", foo.getBid()) .setEntity("cid", foo.getCid()) .list(); ); Is there any easier way, ideally one that makes better use of hibernate and make a minimal number of database calls? Am I missing something? Is hibernate not the right tool for this?

  • How to perform a many-to-many Linq query with Include in the EF.

    - by despart
    Hi, I don't know how to perform this query using Linq and the EF. Imagine I have three tables A, B and C. A and B have a many-to-many relationship. B and C have a 1-to-many relationship. I want to obtain records from B including C but filtering from A's Id. I can get easily the records from B: var b = Context.A.Where(x => x.Id.Equals(aId)).SelectMany(x => x.B); but when I try to include C I don't know how to do it: //This doesn't work var b = Context.A.Where(x => x.Id.Equals(aId)).SelectMany(x => x.B.Include("C")); Also I've tried this with no luck (it is equivalent to the above): //Not working var b = (from a in Context.A.Where(x => x.Id.Equals(aId)) from b in a.B.Include("C") select b); Thanks for your help.

  • Using Full-Text Search in SQL Server 2005 across multiple tables, columns

    - by crisgomez
Hi, I have a problem, I created a full text search query which return a record(s), in which the paramater I have supplied match(es) in every fields(full-text indexed) of multiple tables. The problem is , when the user.id is equal to ceritification.AId it returns a records eventhough it was not satisfied with the parameter supplied. For this example I supplied a value "xandrick" which return an Id=184, but the problem is it returns two ids which is 184 and 154.What is the best way to return an ID(s) that satisfied of the supplied given value? • Convert PHP array into Key => Value Array

    - by Feature
Total PHP Noob and I couldn't find an answer to this specific problem. Hope someone can help! $myvar is an array that looks like this: Array ( [aid] = Array ( [0] = 2 [1] = 1 ) [oid] = Array( [0] = 2 [1] = 1 ) ) And I need to set a new variable (called $attributes) to something that looks like this: $attributes = array($myvar['aid'][0] => $myvar['oid'][0], $myvar['aid'][1] => $myvar['oid'][1], etc...); And, of course, $myvar may contain many more items... How do I iterate through $myvar and build the $attributes variable?

What I have done is to enclose the original query like this SELECT * FROM (<original query text>) Results group by QID,AID Is there a better way to go about this? The original query uses multiple joins and unions and what not, So I would prefer not to touch it unless its absolutely necesary

  • Some Adsense domain's ads are causing document.write() statements that remove the html from the page

    - by er1234
All that is output on the page is the domain name of the advertiser, for example 'www.solar-aid.org'. The rest of the content is stripped, I believe because of a document.write() statement. I'd like to know if this is a common issue or something wrong with our setup. There are three domains causing the issue, which we've blocked from Adsense as a result. solar-aid.org kiva.org grameenfoundation.org Given the type of organizations I think they may be within the default group of 'public service ads' within the Backup Ads setting. If the issue doesn't completely resolve itself soon (one customer of ours complained today, even though I blocked them 5+ days ago), I'll disable public service ads and select the 'fill space with a solid color' option.

  • Functional Adaptation

    - by Charles Courchaine
In real life and OO programming we’re often faced with using adapters, DVI to VGA, 1/4” to 1/8” audio connections, 110V to 220V, wrapping an incompatible interface with a new one, and so on.  Where the adapter pattern is generally considered for interfaces and classes a similar technique can be applied to method signatures.  To be fair, this adaptation is generally used to reduce the number of parameters but I’m sure there are other clever possibilities to be had.  As Jan questioned in the last post, how can we use a common method to execute an action if the action has a differing number of parameters, going back to the greeting example it was suggested having an AddName method that takes a first and last name as parameters.  This is exactly what we’ll address in this post. Let’s set the stage with some review and some code changes.  First, our method that handles the setup/tear-down infrastructure for our WCF service: 1: private static TResult ExecuteGreetingFunc<TResult>(Func<IGreeting, TResult> theGreetingFunc) 2: { 3: IGreeting aGreetingService = null; 4: try 5: { 6: aGreetingService = GetGreetingChannel(); 7: return theGreetingFunc(aGreetingService); 8: } 9: finally 10: { 11: CloseWCFChannel((IChannel)aGreetingService); 12: } 13: } Our original AddName method: 1: private static string AddName(string theName) 2: { 3: return ExecuteGreetingFunc<string>(theGreetingService => theGreetingService.AddName(theName)); 4: } Our new AddName method: 1: private static int AddName(string firstName, string lastName) 2: { 3: return ExecuteGreetingFunc<int>(theGreetingService => theGreetingService.AddName(firstName, lastName)); 4: } Let’s change the AddName method, just a little bit more for this example and have it take the greeting service as a parameter. 1: private static int AddName(IGreeting greetingService, string firstName, string lastName) 2: { 3: return greetingService.AddName(firstName, lastName); 4: } The new signature of AddName using the Func delegate is now Func<IGreeting, string, string, int>, which can’t be used with ExecuteGreetingFunc as is because it expects Func<IGreeting, TResult>.  Somehow we have to eliminate the two string parameters before we can use this with our existing method.  This is where we need to adapt AddName to match what ExecuteGreetingFunc expects, and we’ll do so in the following progression. 1: Func<IGreeting, string, string, int> -> Func<IGreeting, string, int> 2: Func<IGreeting, string, int> -> Func<IGreeting, int>   For the first step, we’ll create a method using the lambda syntax that will “eliminate” the last name parameter: 1: string lastNameToAdd = "Smith"; 2: //Func<IGreeting, string, string, int> -> Func<IGreeting, string, int> 3: Func<IGreeting, string, int> addName = (greetingService, firstName) => AddName(greetingService, firstName, lastNameToAdd); The new addName method gets us one step close to the signature we need.  Let’s say we’re going to call this in a loop to add several names, we’ll take the final step from Func<IGreeting, string, int> -> Func<IGreeting, int> in line as a lambda passed to ExecuteGreetingFunc like so: 1: List<string> firstNames = new List<string>() { "Bob", "John" }; 2: int aID; 3: foreach (string firstName in firstNames) 4: { 5: //Func<IGreeting, string, int> -> Func<IGreeting, int> 6: aID = ExecuteGreetingFunc<int>(greetingService => addName(greetingService, firstName)); 7: Console.WriteLine(GetGreeting(aID)); 8: } If for some reason you needed to break out the lambda on line 6 you could replace it with 1: aID = ExecuteGreetingFunc<int>(ApplyAddName(addName, firstName)); and use this method: 1: private static Func<IGreeting, int> ApplyAddName(Func<IGreeting, string, int> addName, string lastName) 2: { 3: return greetingService => addName(greetingService, lastName); 4: } Splitting out a lambda into its own method is useful both in this style of coding as well as LINQ queries to improve the debugging experience.  It is not strictly necessary to break apart the steps & functions as was shown above; the lambda in line 6 (of the foreach example) could include both the last name and first name instead of being composed of two functions.  The process demonstrated above is one of partially applying functions, this could have also been done with Currying (also see Dustin Campbell’s excellent post on Currying for the canonical curried add example).  Matthew Podwysocki also has some good posts explaining both Currying and partial application and a follow up post that further clarifies the difference between Currying and partial application.  In either technique the ultimate goal is to reduce the number of parameters passed to a function.  Currying makes it a single parameter passed at each step, where partial application allows one to use multiple parameters at a time as we’ve done here.  This technique isn’t for everyone or every problem, but can be extremely handy when you need to adapt a call to something you don’t control.

  • Types in Lisp and Scheme

    - by user2054900
I see now that Racket has types. At first glance it seems to be almost identical to Haskell typing. But is Lisp's CLOS covering some of the space Haskell types cover? Creating a very strict Haskell type and an object in any OO language seems vaguely similar. It's just that I've drunk some of the Haskell kool-aid and I'm totally paranoid that if I go down the Lisp road, I'll be screwed due to dynamic typing.

I'm able to get the full URL into a String via ExternalInterface var url:String = ExternalInterface.call("window.location.href.toString"); if (url) testField.text = url; Just unsure as how to manipulate the String to just get the 1234 and 5678 numbers. Appreciate any tips, links or help with this!
