    I see an error while using NConf interface in Generate Nagios config Error accessing or executing Nagios / Icinga binary '/usr/sbin/nagios'. Cannot run the mandatory syntax check. I checked Apache Error_log and it says: sh: /usr/sbin/nagios: Permission denied I tried changing permissions and ownership but no change. How can I fix this?   • Are email addresses mandatory for Windows 8 login names?

    I've got a computer running Windows 8 and in the user accounts I can see four accounts (they're in french, here's a rough translation): [email protected] / administrator Veronique YYY / [email protected] ASP.NET Machine Account / local account guest account / the guest account is desactivated I've got several questions but they're all related to email addresses and login names / accounts. Are email addresses mandatory for Windows 8 login names? Can you mix live and non-live user accounts on a Windows 8 system? Is it possible to have a live Windows 8 user account which is not using a @live.xx email address? Is it possible to have a non-live Windows 8 user account which is using a @live.xx email address? If the gmail.com email address of the admin is not a live Windows 8 account, does this mean I can create a "fake" email and use that as the email of a new Windows 8 account? Basically I don't understand very well why there are email addresses displayed on the login screen and why there are both @live.xx and @gmail.com email addresses on the same system and answer to the questions I asked above may help me understand a bit better what is going on (I'm coming from a Linux / OS X background. I literally haven't used Windows in more than a decade).

    I use GLib to parse some command-line options. The problem is that I want to make two of those options mandatory so that the program terminates with the help screen if the user omits them. How can I tell GLib to fail parsing if the user doesn't pass both options on the command-line? Maybe I'm just blind but I couldn't find a flag I can put into my GOptionEntry data structure to tell it to make those fields mandatory. Of course I could check if one of those variables is still -1 but then the user could just have passed this value on the command-line and I want to print a separate error message if the values are out of range.

    In OptionParser I can make an option mandatory, but if I leave out that value it will take the name of any following option as the value, screwing up the rest of the command line parsing.     Is there any logical or technical reason (with the W3C validation) for making alt as required attribute .. This is my actual problem:though my page is perfect enough with respect to W3C validation rules .. Only error I am getting is line XX column YY - Error: required attribute "ALT" not specified I know the significance of "alt" attribute and I have omitted that where it is unnecessary .. (to be more elaborate .. I have added the image to increase the beauty of my page and I don't want alt attribute to show irrelevant message to the viewer) getting rid of the error is secondary .. rather I am curious to know whether is it a flaw with validation rules .. ??     It seems like a no brainer to me. I've heard countless stories about people forgetting the WHERE clause in an UPDATE or DELETE and trashing an entire table. I know that careless people shouldn't be issuing queries directly and all that... and that there are legitimate cases where you want to affect all rows, but wouldn't it make sense to have an option on by default that requires such queries to be written like: UPDATE MyTable SET MyColumn = 0 WHERE * Or without changing the language, UPDATE MyTable SET MyColumn = 0 WHERE 1 = 1 -- tacky, I know

  • Is support for recovering purchases mandatory for consumable products?

    Apple's documentation for iOS 7 makes me think it is not, for it makes a distinction between "restored by the system" (i.e. built into iOS 7), "restored by your app" (i.e. functionality required inside app"), and "not required". The fact there being three (and not two) options and product type "consumable" being marked as "not restored" makes me think that an app that does not support restoring consumable product may still pass Apple's review process. However this popular question and answer seem to suggest that such support is required ("I read somewhere ...") But would this not amount to "consumable" taking on "restored by your app" semantics, which seems to contradict the quoted piece of Apple documentation.

    Hi, I have a strange issue in my iPhone application. I have created a UITableView with 4 Sections and 3 Rows so totally 12 Rows. But - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath The above method only gets called for 9 times instead of 12 times.why this happenning. My 4th section is not getting constructed but my 1st section gets duplicated as 4th section. Thanks for your time and help.   • Update Your NetBeans Plugin's "Supported NetBeans Versions" In The Next Two Weeks!

    For each NetBeans plugin uploaded to the NetBeans Plugin Portal, the registration page starts like this: Note how the "Supported NetBeans Versions" field is empty, i.e., no checkbox is checked, for the plugin above. As you can also see, there is a red asterisk next to this field, which means it is mandatory. It is mandatory for the latest version of the NetBeans Plugin Portal, while it wasn't mandatory before, so that several plugins were registered without their supported version being set. Therefore, since the version is now mandatory, anyone who doesn't want their plugin to be hidden for the rest of this year, and removed on 1 January 2013 if no one complains about their absence, needs to go to their plugin's registration page and set a NetBeans Version. E-mails have been sent to plugin developers of unversioned plugins already, over the last weeks. Currently there are 91 plugins that still need to have their NetBeans Version set. Probably at least 1/3 of those are my own plugins, so this is as much a reminder to myself as anyone else! Whether or not you have received an e-mail asking you to set a NetBeans Version for your plugins, please take a quick look anyway and maybe this is a good opportunity to update other information relating to your plugin. You (and I) have two weeks: on Monday 16 April, any NetBeans plugin in the Plugin Portal without a NetBeans Version will be hidden. And then removed, at the start of next year, if no one complains.

  • Java constructor with large arguments or Java bean getter/setter approach

    Hi, I can't decide which approach is better for creating objects with a large number of fields (10+) (all mandatory) the constructor approach of the getter/setter. Constructor at least you enforce that all the fields are set. Java Beans easier to see which variables are being set instead of a huge list. The builder pattern DOES NOT seem suitable here as all the fields are mandatory and the builder requires you put all mandatory parameters in the builder constructor. Thanks, D

Sure I can write some custom code to handle the filename, then pass ARGV to optparse, but maybe there's a simpler way to do it? EDIT: there's another hacky way to parse such a command line, and that is pass '--mandatory-filename ' + ARGV to optparse, then handle the --mandatory-filename option.

    Hi, I'm trying to use Lucene to query a domain that has the following structure Student 1-------* Attendance *---------1 Course The data in the domain is summarised below Course.name Attendance.mandatory Student.name ------------------------------------------------- cooking N Bob art Y Bob If I execute the query "courseName:cooking AND mandatory:Y" it returns Bob, because Bob is attending the cooking course, and Bob is also attending a mandatory course. However, what I really want to query for is "students attending a mandatory cooking course", which in this case would return nobody. Is it possible to formulate this as a Lucene query? I'm actually using Compass, rather than Lucene directly, so I can use either CompassQueryBuilder or Lucene's query language. For the sake of completeness, the domain classes themselves are shown below.   • Is it safe to enable forced ASLR via EMET on Windows?

    I'd like to enable forced ASLR for all DLLs on Windows. Is this safe? Background: ASLR is an important security mechanism that helps defend against code injection attacks. DLLs can opt into ASLR, and most do, but some DLLs have not opted into ASLR. If a program loads even a single non-ASLRized DLL, then the program doesn't get the benefit/protection of ASLR. This is a problem, because there are a non-trivial number of DLLs that haven't opted into ASLR. For instance, it was recently revealed that Dropbox injects a DLL into a bunch of processes, and the Dropbox DLL doesn't have ASLR turned on, which negates any ASLR protection they otherwise would have had. Unfortunately, there are many other widely used DLLs that haven't opted into ASLR. This is bad for system security. Microsoft provides several ways to turn on ASLR for all DLLs, even ones that haven't opted into ASLR: On Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008, you can enable "Force ASLR" in the registry. On all Windows versions, you can use Microsoft's EMET tool and enable EMET's "Mandatory ASLR" option. These methods are possible because all DLLs are compiled as position-independent code and they can be relocated to a random location even if they haven't opted into ASLR. These options will ensure that ASLR is turned on, even if the developers of the DLL forgot to opt into ASLR. Thus, forcing on ASLR systemwide may help system security. In principle, turning on forced ASLR could potentially break a poorly-written DLL, so there is some risk of breakage. I'm interested in finding out just significant this risk is. I have the suspicion that this kind of breakage might be extremely rare. Here's what I've been able to find: Microsoft has done compatibility testing with several dozen widely used applications. The only one they found where Mandatory ASLR causes problems is Windows Media Player. All the other applications continue working fine. (See pp.39-41 of this document.) I've seen some anecdotal reports that enabling "Mandatory ASLR"/"Force ASLR" is fine and unlikely to cause problems. CERT reports that AMD and ATI video drivers used to crash if you enabled forced ASLR, but their latest drivers have now fixed this problem. They don't show any other drivers with this problem. A forum post from Microsoft shows no other applications with compatibility problems if ASLR is forced on, as of 2011. A user reports that borderlands.exe, a video game by Gearbox Software, crashes if you turn on mandatory ASLR. What else should I know? Is it relatively safe to turn on Force ASLR / Mandatory ASLR systemwide to harden the secuity of my system, or will I be in for a world of pain and broken applications? How significant is the risk of compatibility problems and broken applications?

With the radio (id="questions[1][]") selected, and the text input containing content, the form element is still flagged as invalid. Suggestions...maybe a better approach? Thanks in advance.   • copy windows registry and/or other locked files

    Hi. While improving my (personal) backup system, I noticed, that I cannot copy certain locked files, like the windows registry files. Is there a way to copy such things? Or a specific solution for the registry (I know of the regedit-File-Export ,,solution'' but this is to text format and seems slow). AFAIK, On Linux the locking system is advisory and on Windows it is mandatory. Can I somehow bypass the mandatory-ness for backup purposes etc.? TIA.
