• Determine Click-thru Percentage With PHP

  Hi all, I am currently working on a small sponsorship application(PHP/MySql) for my personal blog, and am almost finish, but I am stuck on how to calculate the click-thru rate of my sponsors campaigns. I was always terrible with working out percentages, so any practical help would be appreciated. The data is stored in the DB as simple numbers.. So as expected, when a page refreshes, or a sponsors ad is clicked, the data updates with an incrementation of 1. So using these values...say $clicks and $impressions, how would I determine the click-thru rate? What would be the sum I would use to calculate? An example function would really be appreciated. • Where and how to reference composite MVP components?

  I am learning about the MVP (Model-View-Presenter) Passive View flavour of MVC. I intend to expose events from view interfaces rather than using the observer pattern to remove explicit coupling with presenter. Context: Windows Forms / Client-Side JavaScript. I am led to believe that the MVP (or indeed MVC in general) pattern can be applied at various levels of a user interface ranging from the main "Window" to an embedded "Text Field". For instance, the model to the text field is probably just a string whereas the model to the "Window" contains application specific view state (like a persons name which resides within the contained text field). Given a more complex scenario: Documentation viewer which contains: TOC navigation pane Document view Search pane Since each of these 4 user interface items are complex and can be reused elsewhere it makes sense to design these using MVP. Given that each of these user interface items comprises of 3 components; which component should be nested? where? who instantiates them? • Trouble with UV Mapping Blender => Unity 3

  For some reason I am getting nasty grey edges around the edges of rendered 3D models that are not present in Blender. I seem to be able to solve the problem by reducing the size of the UV coordinates within the part of the texture that is to be mapped. But this means that: I am wasting valuable texture space Loss of accuracy in drawn UV maps Could I be doing something wrong, perhaps a setting in Unity that needs changing? I have watched countless tutorials which demonstrate Blender default generated UV coordinates with "Texture Paint" which are perfectly aligned in Unity.   Possible Duplicate: How to find web hosting that meets my requirements? I am working on a project that will be released as open source in the latter part of the year. I am starting to think about how the accompanying website will be hosted and would greatly appreciate some advice. Requirements: Domain #1 Information about the project itself (just pages and pictures). Documentation / Wiki Forums Download of project source (approx 3MB archive) Download of various themes and community contributed content (est. sizes 10KB ~ 512KB). Domain #2 Primary company website that offers products and services. This will be primarily pictures and pages. What kind of web hosting would be best for a project like this. I am working on a very tight budget and can only afford to spend up to £250 per year for hosting this. I was considering using some sort of VPS hosting. I found the following companies which seem to offer around this price range, but they have very mixed reviews. http://www.webhosting.uk.com/ http://www.eukhost.com/ Godaddy UK uk2 . net My company is based in the UK, how important is it for me to use UK based hosting? • When using Zoom, cursor disappears

  In Ubuntu 12.04 Unity, when I use the Compiz Zoom feature, the mouse cursor disappears. This did not happen in 10.04, it worked great until I installed 12.04. In 12.04 zoom was disabled by default, so I re-enabled it to use Super+scroll wheel as it was before. The only thing different now is that the shortcut listing appears while zooming, zooming is not as smooth, and I have no mouse cursor. How can I get the cursor to remain visible while zoomed in?

• Should you charge clients hours spent on the wrong track?

  I took up a small CSS challenge to solve for a client and I'm going to be paid on a hourly rate. I eventually solved it, it took 4 hours but I spent roughly 30% of the time in the wrong track, trying a CSS3 solution that only worked in recent browsers and finally discovering that no fallback is possible via JS (like I originally thought). Should I charge the client that 30%? More details: I didn't provide an estimate, I liked the challenge per se, so I started working on it before giving an estimate (but I have worked with him before, so I know he's not one of those people that have unrealistic expectations). At the very worst I will have spent 4 unpaid hours on an intriguing CSS challenge. And I will give the fairest possible estimate for both of us, since I will have already done the work. :)

• How to transform mesh components?

  I am attempting to transform the components of a mesh directly using a 4x4 matrix. This is working for the vertex positions, but it is not working for the normals (and probably not the tangents either). Here is what I have: // Transform vertex positions - Works like a charm! vertices = mesh.vertices; for (int i = 0; i < vertices.Length; ++i) vertices[i] = transform.MultiplyPoint(vertices[i]); // Does not work, lighting is messed up on mesh normals = mesh.normals; for (int i = 0; i < normals.Length; ++i) normals[i] = transform.MultiplyVector(normals[i]); Note: The input matrix converts from local to world space and is needed to combine multiple meshes together.

What is the difference between each of the two approaches? It seems to work fine (sends and receives mail as expected).

• Why might changes be populated from one NSManagedObjectContext to another without an explicit merge?

  I'm working on an object import feature that utilizes multiple threads/NSManagedObjectContexts, using http://www.mac-developer-network.com/columns/coredata/may2009/ as my guide (note that I am developing for iPhone). For some reason, when I save one of my contexts the other is immediately updated with the changes, even though I have commented out my calls to mergeChangesFromContextDidSaveNotification. Are there any reasons the contexts might be merging into one another without an explicit call? Here a log of what's going on: // 1.) Main context is saved with "Peter Gabriel" // 2.) Test context is created, begins with same contents as main context // 3.) Main context is inserted with "Spoon" // 4.) Test context is inserted with "Phoenix" // Contents at this point: CoreTest[4341:903] Artists in main context: ( "Peter Gabriel", "Spoon" ) CoreTest[4341:903] Artists in test context: ( "Peter Gabriel", "Phoenix" ) // 5.) testContext is saved // New contents of contexts: CoreTest[4341:903] Artists in main context: ( "Peter Gabriel", "Phoenix", "Spoon" ) CoreTest[4341:903] Artists in test context: ( "Peter Gabriel", "Phoenix" ) As you can see, the test context is saved midway through, and the main context suddenly has the new objects from the test context, even though I haven't performed the whole NSManagedObjectContextDidSaveNotification/mergeChangesFromContext combo. My understanding is that no changes will ever be merged unless done so explicitly... does anyone know what's going on here?

  So I purchased a computer recently and have been trying to customise the display. Radeon HD 6800 series Ubuntu 10.10. I have three 22inch 1080P lcd monitors that are mounted together. Everything is working smooth. How do I get the 'big-desktop' display where I have one enormous display across all monitors? Linux - ATI Catalyst Control Center 11.2 does not give me an option to 'group' my profiles like the pictures on their site show with Windows. I have been searching all over for help. • PHP: form action on same page, still show same until refresh

  Yes, Im having a little edit profile page, index.php?mode=profile. Lets take the username in the editprofile form as example. The username is already in the username-field. So i changed from "Peter" to "Tom" and press save. The action is ?mode=profile&edit=true. So now when i have pressed save it has updated the column in the db from Peter to Tom. But this field keeps having the value "Peter" until if i do press refresh (or f5), then "Tom" will appear. Like it hasnt updated in the database anything, although it did but it still shows Peter until next refresh.. like it caches, but it shouldnt cache nothing? Any help on this? Is it because its on the same "page" / file? what can i do

Is there a way to search both columns with only one input box? • MS Sql Full-text search vs. LIKE expression

  Hi. I'm currently looking for a way to search a big database (500MB - 10GB or more on 10 tables) with a lot of different fields(nvarchars and bigints). Many of the fields, that should be searched are not in the same table. An example: A search for '5124 Peter' should return all items, that ... have an ID with 5124 in it, have 'Peter' in the title or description have item type id with 5124 in it created by a user named 'peter' or a user whose id has 5124 in it created by a user with '5124' or 'peter' in his street address. How should i do the search? I read that the full-text search of MS-Sql is a lot more performant than a query with the LIKE keyword and i think the syntax is more clear, but i think it cant search on bigint(id) values and i read it has performance problems with indexing and therefore slows down inserts to the DB. In my project there will be more inserting than reading, so this could be a matter. Thanks in advance, Marks

  Friends, I have these tables: Contestant Table: Winner Peter Group Table: Id Name Score Union 1 Bryan 3 77 2 Mary 1 20 3 Peter 5 77 4 Joseph 2 25 5 John 6 77 I want to give additional score of 5 to Peter on Group Table. So, I came up with this query. UPDATE Group SET Score = Score+5 FROM Contestant, Group WHERE Contestant.Winner = Group.Name Now, I want also to give additional score of 5 to the same Union as Peter which is 77. How can I integrate it as one query to my existing query?

• Ubuntu Server Installer does not detect usb device

  For some time now I am struggling with the 12.04 Ubuntu Server installer. I am trying to execute a clean, CD based install with the mentioned version onto an SD card. For the sake of the simplicity I have taken out the HDD. However, I had to recognise that the "disk detection" phase simply can not find the SDCARD. It says "No disk drive was detected. If you know the name of the driver needed by your disk drive, you can select from the list." What is really strange that I have tried the older Ubuntu Server installer (11.04) and this is simply recognising the sdcard... Does anyone have any idea? Many thanks, Peter

• Creating a game engine in C++ and Python - Where do I start? [closed]

  Yes, you read correctly, how does humble ole Peter here make an engine using the 2 languages he's proficient in to an extent. I have more than enough time and wish not to use any 3rd party "stuffs" (engine parts like methods, classes etc etc, fully from scratch). If anyone could PLEASE explain how this is done then i will love you forever. Thanks for reading, hoping for some productive answers. Thankyou very much.
