  • Numerical Pattern Matching

    A project I'm researching requires some numerical pattern matching. My searches haven't turned up many relevant hits since most results tend to be around text pattern matching. The idea is we'll have certain wave patterns we'll need to be watching for and trying to match incoming data vs the wave database we will be building. Here is and example of one of the wave patterns we'll need to be matching against. There is clearly a pattern there, but the peaks will not have the exact same values, but the overall shape of the wave iterations will be very similar. Does anyone have any advice on how to go about storing and later matching these patterns, and / or other search terms I can use to find more information on the subject of pattern matching?     I'm trying to display a photo on my facebook connected website. From Facebook's documentation you just need to use valid XFBML and a fb:photo tag as such: <div id="myPhoto"> <fb:photo pid="12345"></fb:photo> </div> My problem is that doesn't render anything when I call: FB.XFBML.Host.parseDomElement(document.getElementById("myPhoto")); If I call the same XFBML on a regular facebook page, it displays without problem, the bug is only on a separated website using facebook connect. Also, I don't get any JS errors. Any help would be appreciated

    Hello, I need to open photo library from my iPhone app just like standard iPhone Camera application does. Is it possible? I don't want picking-style interface of UIImagePickerController - it has unnecessary controls like "Use" and "Cancel" buttons and does not have full photo library viewing functionality - zooming and sliding between photos etc. My goal is to navigate user to the photo library for viewing photos (with full functionality of viewing photos) and - when user has finished - return to my app - just like standard Camera application does when you preview last-taken photos.

    I am looking for a photo solution for our home network. We have several computers, running windows and OS X. I would like to store all of our photos in a central location, and have them be accessible from any machine. Most of our photos are currently in an iPhoto library, and ideally there would still be a way to import photos from the server to iPhoto easily. This can run really on any operating system, but it must be easily accessible for anybody. A gallery type view would be good, but also must allow direct file access and transfers. Anybody have a solution that works for them, or any ideas of what I could do?

    hello, i'm currently learning lua. regarding pattern-matching in lua i found the following sentence in the lua documentation on lua.org: Nevertheless, pattern matching in Lua is a powerful tool and includes some features that are difficult to match with standard POSIX implementations. as i'm familiar with posix regular expressions i would like to know if there are any common samples where lua pattern matching is "better" compared to regular expression -- or did i misinterpret the sentence? and if there are any common examples: why is any of pattern-matching vs. regular expressions better suited? thanks very much, harald

    i want to know the string matching algorithms used by Apache Lucene. i have been going through the index file format used by lucene given here. it seems that lucene stores all words occurring in the text as is with their frequency of occurrence in each document. but as far as i know that for efficient string matching it would need to preprocess the words occurring in the Documents. example: search for "iamrohitbanga is a user of stackoverflow" (use fuzzy matching) in some documents. it is possible that there is a document containing the string "rohit banga" to find that the substrings rohit and banga are present in the search string, it would use some efficient substring matching. i want to know which algorithm it is. also if it does some preprocessing which function call in the java api triggers it.

  • "Open file location" is broken for Win Live Photo Gallery and Chrome

    Symptoms: Windows Live Photo Gallery: Right clicking on an image (.jpg, .png) and selecting the context menu item "Open file location" should open the containing folder in explorer. Instead, I get an error dialog stating "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel." Chrome: After downloading a file (of any type), clicking the down arrow on the download status bar at the bottom and clicking "Show in folder" results in the same error dialog mentioned above. I'm using Windows 7. I'm pretty sure this is a registry entry gone bad but I've been unable to locate any information about this specific problem. It's not a file type association problem as I am not trying to open the files concerned, I'm trying to open an explorer window at the location for the file. I've found a similar issue that somebody had with explorer itself. However, the suggested registry fixes here for "Folder", "Directory" and "Drive" did not solve the problem. Also, If I use the searchbar in explorer to do a search, right click on a file and choose "Open file location", explorer jumps to that location without any trouble. I have not yet identified other programs with this issue.

    Hi, Is there a way I can delete an image that is loaded into my app from a UIImagePickerController? I want to be able to delete the image from the user's photo library when the user performs a specific action. I am prompting the user to choose a image from their library, then it gets loaded into my app at which point the app does some shnazzy animation, then actually deletes the image. Please help!

    Is the pattern matching logic used by this API exposed for reuse somewhere in the .Net Framework? Something of the form FilePatternMatch( string searchPattern, stringfileNameToTest ) is what I'm looking for. I'm implementing a temporary workaround for WP7 not filtering the results for this overload and I'd like the solution to both provide a consistent experience and avoid reinventing this functionality if it is exposed. If the behaviour is not exposed for reuse, a regular expression solution (like glob pattern matching in .NET) will suffice and would save me spending the time to test the fine details of what the behaviour should be. Perhaps one of the answers posted in the thread linked above is correct. Since I haven't confirmed the exact behaviour as yet, I wasn't able to determine this at a glance. Feel free to point me to one of those answers if you know it is behaviouraly an exact match to the API referenced in the question title. I could assume the pattern matching is consistent with how DOS handled * and ? in 8.3 file names (I'm familiar with behavioural nuances of that implementation), but it's reasonable to assume Microsoft has evolved pattern matching behaviour for file names in the decade+ since so I thought I would check before proceeding on that assumption.

  • Approximate string matching with a letter confusion matrix?

    I'm trying to model a phonetic recognizer that has to isolate instances of words (strings of phones) out of a long stream of phones that doesn't have gaps between each word. The stream of phones may have been poorly recognized, with letter substitutions/insertions/deletions, so I will have to do approximate string matching. However, I want the matching to be phonetically-motivated, e.g. "m" and "n" are phonetically similar, so the substitution cost of "m" for "n" should be small, compared to say, "m" and "k". So, if I'm searching for [mein] "main", it would match the letter sequence [meim] "maim" with, say, cost 0.1, whereas it would match the letter sequence [meik] "make" with, say, cost 0.7. Similarly, there are differing costs for inserting or deleting each letter. I can supply a confusion matrix that, for each letter pair (x,y), gives the cost of substituting x with y, where x and y are any letter or the empty string. I know that there are tools available that do approximate matching such as agrep, but as far as I can tell, they do not take a confusion matrix as input. That is, the cost of any insertion/substitution/deletion = 1. My question is, are there any open-source tools already available that can do approximate matching with confusion matrices, and if not, what is a good algorithm that I can implement to accomplish this?

  • Display a Photo Gallery using Asp.Net and SQL

    I have recently added photos to my SQL database and have displayed them on an *.aspx page using Asp:Image. The ImageUrl for this control stored in a separate *.aspx page. It works great for profile pictures. I have a new issue at hand. I need each user to be able to have their own photo gallery page. I want the photos to be stored in the sql database. Storing the photos is not difficult. The issue is displaying the photos. I want the photos to be stored in a thumbnail grid fashion, when the user clicks on the photo, it should bring up the photo on a separate page. What is the best way to do this. Obviously it is not to use Asp:Image. I am curious if I should use a Gridview. If so, how do I do that and should their be a thumbnail size stored in the database for this? Once the picture is click on how does the other page look so that it displays the correct image. I would think it is not correct to send the photoId through the url.   • TabBar Support of Three20 iPhone Photo Gallery

    Hi all, I wend through this tutorial and created a photo gallery for the iPhone. Now I want to add it to my TabBar project. I already heard, that Three20 doesn't support XIB, so I changed my whole tab bar setup to programmatically. I think I am not too far from a final solution. I was able to get the photo gallery working in one tab but without functions (click on a pic -- it opens, etc). There is no navigation on top of the page that leads you to the detail image page. I faced this when I removed this from didFinishLaunchingWithOptions-method in app delegate: // Override point for customization after application launch TTNavigator* navigator = [TTNavigator navigator]; TTURLMap* map = navigator.URLMap; [map from:@"demo://album" toViewController: [AlbumController class]]; [navigator openURLAction:[TTURLAction actionWithURLPath:@"demo://album"]]; return YES; I had to remove it because otherwise the whole tab bar is not shown. The photo gallery uses the whole screen. I am not sure if it is just not shown, or not loaded. I also tried: tabbar.hidesBottomBarWhenPushed = NO; But that did not work at all. I tried to add the TTNavigator-code to loadView(), viewDidLoad() and init() in the AlbumController itself without a result. Does anyone know where I have to put this in order to get it working?   • Aligning music notes using String matching algorithms or Dynamic Programming

    Hi I need to compare 2 sets of musical pieces (i.e. a playing-taken in MIDI format-note details extracted and saved in a database table, against sheet music-taken into XML format). When evaluating playing against sheet music (i.e.note details-pitch, duration, rhythm), note alignment needs to be done - to identify missed/extra/incorrect/swapped notes that from the reference (sheet music) notes. I have like 1800-2500 notes in one piece approx (can even be more-with polyphonic, right now I'm doing for monophonic). So will I have to have all these into an array? Will it be memory overloading or stack overflow? There are string matching algorithms like KMP, Boyce-Moore. But note alignment can also be done through Dynamic Programming. How can I use Dynamic Programming to approach this? What are the available algorithms? Is it about approximate string matching? Which approach is much productive? String matching algos like Boyce-Moore, or dynamic programming? How can I assess which is more effective? Greatly appreciate any insight or suggestions Thanks in advance

I changed the text area into a data field to upload photos and everything is working. Now i have to display the uploaded pictures and i simply can't do it.
