  • Restrict movement within a radius

    I asked a similar question recently but now I think I know more about what I really want to know. I can answer my own question if I get to understand this bit. I have a situation where a sprite's center point needs to be constrained within a certain boundary in 2d space. The boundary is circular so the sprite is constrained within a radius. This radius is defined as a distance from the center of a certain point. I know the position of the center point and I can track the center position of the sprite. This is the code to detect the distance: float distance = Vector2.Distance(centerPosition, spritePosition)); if (distance > allowedDistance) { } The positions can be wherever on the grid, they are not described as in between -1 or 1. So basically the detecting code works, it only prints when the sprite is outside of it's boundary I just don't know what to do when it oversteps. Please explain any math used as I really want to understand what you're thinking to be able to elaborate on it myself.

  • Restrict user to folder (not root) on VSFTPD in Ubuntu

    I am a new Linux (Ubuntu) user and have a VPS where I am setting up a backup FTP service. I have followed this guide, which I have managed to do correctly and it works. I have two users (user1 and user2) with the same directory /home/users/test. user1 can read/write and user2 can only read. This works OK. When the users log in, they go straight into the correct directory /home/users/test, but they can navigate back down to the home directory, which I do not want to happen. I cannot seem to find out how to not allow this, and have them not be able to navigate back to the /home/ or /home/test/ directories.

  • Restrict IPMI access on Dell BMC and iDRAC to an allowed IP range

    I'm trying to secure the iDRAC's and BMC's on some of my Dell servers (R210, R410, R510). I want to restrict access to IPMI commands to only a few IP addresses. I've successfully restricted access to the iDrac using the instructions from http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/software/smdrac3/idrac/idrac10mono/en/ug/html/racugc2d.htm#wp1181529 , but the IP restrictions do not affect IPMI. A separate management network is not practical at this time because of lack or ports and some Dell BMC's don't offer a separate port. I'm told by my networking group that our switches don't support trunking, so using the vlan tagging is not an option either. Is there a way restrict the IPMI access to a list of allowed addresses? FYI, for various reasons, I have a mix of Dell servers with BMC's, iDrac Express and iDrac enterprise management features.

    We currently have one WLAN that only domain users can connect to. We will be adding a guest WLAN and would like all non-domain machines to use this, even if a user has a domain account. We have set up NPS and can log in against it, but we can not restrict the connection option to be a domain computer AND a domain account. As a network policy it states that it moves along through each policy until it finds one that it accepts or runs out. For connection request policies Domain Computers is not an option. This is where I thought I may be able to stop it. Has anyone been able to successfully restrict this without manually adding MACs to the WLAN Controller?

  • OpenVPN / iptables restrict some access

    I want to create an openvpn service on a dedicated server I have, for some friends so that they are able to play online games faster. Is there an easy way to restrict which traffic I allow them with iptables ? It seems iptable is not very easy to maintain and we can easily get kicked out of our own server. Rebooting on a rescue mode every time I would get kicked out because of bad iptable rules would just be a pain. As far as I understand, the tun interface would be providing the access. Which kind of rule in iptables would I have to implement to restrict their access to only 1 ip ? Also, I don't want this vpn to be the default gateway for all the traffic. I guess I should go with the option of pushing a route to the clients so that they connect to the IP of the game server through the VPN and use their regular routes through their ISP for all the other traffic ? As a side not, it seems Openvpn AS is not very robust. Is there some other (commercial is ok) product that would give me the same administration options through a web interface ? Is Webmin the only other solution ? Thanks !

But can I restrict the set of possible categories to only a subset of all categories?     I have not found much information about this. We have company owned iPhone and iPads. We would like our employees to be able to message but require all messaging traffic to go through our local mountain lion osx server (not setup yet). How would the phones and server need to be configured to accomplish this. Specifically is it possible to restrict the user from adding additional accounts? How about another app that would use the server? Do you know of any good documentation on setting up this service on osx server and iPhone? I know there is no built-in firewall and everyone recommends placing an ESXi machine behind a firewall, but when this is not an option...     I'd like to restrict a range of udp ports to a single application (or a user). What I'd like to achieve is not simply blocking a bind() from other uids, but also remove the range from a pool that can be auto-assigned. For example, if someone tries to explicitly bind 12345, but doesn't run the specified app, they should get EPERM. If someone tries to bind an unspecified port, they should never try to bind 12345 at random. Is there any system that can help here? I tried browsing apparmor / selinux docs, but they seem to do the blocking part only.
