  • Restrict Apache to only allow access using SSL for some directories

    I have an Apache 2.2 server with an SSL certificate hosting several services that should be only access using SSL. ie: https://myserver.com/topsecret/ should be allowed while http://myserver.com/topsecret/ should be either denied or, ideally, redirected to https. http://myserver.com/public should not have this restriction, and should work using either http or https. The decision to allow/deny http is made at the top level directory, and affects all content underneath it. Is there a directive that can be placed in the Apache config to retrict access in this manner?

  • How to restrict windows service to X cores?

    I'm currently trying ot figure out a decent/nice way of determening what core(s) a single service should run on, in Windows Server 2008. I'm aware that for procceses there is two ways to do it: set affinity through task manager after proccess is launched. use "start /AFFINITY 0x1" or similar bitmask However this does not seem to work very well with services. When i try to launch the exe that the service will also run (the one that needs restriction) it just spawns a new commandline (and starts the process) but the process terminates shortly after. Does anyone here know how to do a similar trick for services? It is not important what core it is running on, it just needs to be restricted to only one. And preferably it should be something that can be automated, so we do not have to interfere when there is a server restart.

  • Restrict subversion to only allow certain functions

    I'm in a bit of a situation. We have our private subversion server that we use for development, but one of our government clients is requesting access to our commit logs so that they can get an up-to-date picture of what we've been doing on the system. I don't have a problem with them reading our commit logs, but what I do have a problem with is them having access to our source code - they can't have read or write. The obvious solution is to do an svn log ourselves and give them an export, but they want direct SVN access as they apparently have an auditing solution that will import the svn log command automagically. So, is there a way I can set up access to a subversion repo and deny them access to everything except svn log? I don't care if I have to set up a virtualhost just for this, but it has to be done over http(s). We're also using LDAP for authentication if that makes any difference.

But I want to restrict the columns to grow beyond a certain value. There is a MinimumWidth Property ... but unfortunately no MaximumWidth Property. Any ideas how to solve this?     I need to configure an anonymous ftp with upload. Given this requirement I try to lock this server down to the bear minimum. One of the restrictions I wish to impose is to enable the upload of only a given set of file-names. I tried to disallow write permission to the upload folder, and put in it some empty files with write permission: /var/ftp/ [root.root] [drwxr-xr-x] |-- upload/ [root.root] [drwxr-xr-x] | |-- upfile1 [ftp.ftp] [--w-------] | `-- upfile2 [ftp.ftp] [--w-------] `-- download/ [root.root] [drwxr-xr-x] `-- ... But this approach didn't work because when I tried to upload upfile1, it tried to delete and create a new file in its' place, and there is no permissions for that. Is there a way to make this work, or perhaps use a different approach like abusing the deny_file option?
