  We are hosting our website (http://www.redappleapartments.com) with a hosting company in Sweden. And we are using godaddy as our email provider. So, our smtp servers are smtp.europe.secureserver.net mailstore1.europe.secureserver.net Our website sends plenty of emails to our customers and we are sending via godaddy (using SMTP authentication). Some of the emails are never delivered to the recipients. And sometimes we see such warning: The hostname in the SMTP greeting does not match the reverse DNS (PTR) Can somebody out there suggest how we can solve this problem?

  The program evince complains that it can't find libfreetype.so.6; however I clearly have the file and its included in my LD_LIBRARY_PATH; furthermore I have another program which uses libfreetype6 and is able to run just fine. • PTR record not valid for all domains

  We have an issue sending emails to certain domains, namely Time Warner and Cox. Last week, we decommissioned our Exchange 2003 server and now our Exchange 2010 server is doing all of the transport for our domain. We run our own authoritative name servers, so we are in charge of the DNS and have modified our PTR record to reflect the new server. All mailflow is working except for these 2 domains. When I telnet on port 25 to the mail servers for Cox and Time Warner I am receiving errors. For Cox the error is: 554... rejected - no rDNS And when I telnet to port 25 to the Time Warner mail server we get this: 554 5.7.1 - Connection refused. IP name lookup failed for x.x.x.x I have run through the outbound SMTP test on Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer and get 100% completely successful results. MXToolbox comes up with all successful tests on SMTP as well, showing correct reverse banner check, and no blacklisting. DNSQueries.com shows a valid reverse DNS entry as well for us. Outbound emails to these 2 domains continue to sit in the queue. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

• My Reverse DNS PTR record seems to be right, but I'm still getting bouncing email

  Hello, I have a service (statusme.com) where I let people know (for example) that their kid's soccer games are cancelled because of bad weather. We send out emails to the people who have registered. I have a second server as a backup, (vps.statusme.com) and I've set up the application to send some of the email through the second server. But I'm getting complaints from various recipient SMTP servers that the email is considered spam. So I did some investigating, and it appears that they think my reverse DNS record isn't correct.   Hi, I've set up a shared email account at Exchange, which several users have access to, as a secondary mailbox (along with their personal mailbox) I would like to know if the following is possible all replies and/or mail created when "in" the shared account, is sent from the shared account all sent mail end up in the sent mail folder of the shared account, not the individual users sent mail folders users can set custom signatures when sending mail from the shared account Is this possible to accomplish with Exchange 2007/Outlook, using server and/or clientside rules? • Blogging platform for shared hosting?

  First of all, this is not for flame wars. So, please do not bash some blogging platform :P I have a shared hosting account. I want to setup a blog on it. Now, the thing is that as it is shared hosting, I do not have as much bandwidth as some expensive hosting. I have tried using Wordpress with the caching plugins configured. It still does not seem to speed it much. Also if I create a simple PHP website, the speed is fine. Can someone suggest me some lightweight platform?

• wordpress sites are slow on shared hosting but plain html/css sites are fast

  ive got a shared hosting account, unlimited sites, unlimited gb, unlimited bandwidth ect ect. Of course because its shared and a cheap one at that theres too many sites on each server and it all runs slow due to lack of ram. What ive found is that my plain html/css/js sites run an awful lot faster than my wordpress sites on this hosting and i was trying to work out why. Im not exactly sure how a browser sends a request for a page and the full process of request and delivery, but are my html sites running faster as they are just serving code to the browser, where as the wordpress sites are having to make calculations from the database to make each page before its delivered .. is that correct, or am i completly off course ?

  Hello, Experts. I've successfully installed VMware tools for Ubuntu. Everything seems to work fine, but shared folders were not mounted automatically. How do I get them to work? If I run vmware-hgfsclient in terminal, I get the list of shared folders, but ls -l /mnt/hgfs is empty. Actually there's no hgfs dir in /mnt. I know I should probably use the vmware-hgfsclient tool, but I realy don't know how. P.S. I wouldn't ask if I could understand the vmware-hgfsclient help I've read. Any suggestions?

• Can't access Ubuntu's shared folders from Windows 7

  In Ubuntu Maverick, I've shared some folders using the Nautilus "Sharing Options" GUI. I can see them from Windows 7, but when I try to access them (from Windows) it asks for a username and password. No matter what I enter, it won't let me in. How do I configure this to share normally? Update: I've found that some of the shared folders let me in, but others don't. Of the ones that do, some of their subfolders do, others don't, etc. How can I investigate what's causing this?

  I have a shared hosting account with a 20GB monthly bandwidth limit. I have exceeded my monthly limit and according to my host my counter is never reset, they say they use a continuous 30 day counter. So for example, I make payment on the 1st of each month, say I use 20GB in the last week of the month. My bandwidth counter is not reset on the 1st of the new month and my bandwidth will only become available in the last week of the new month. Is this common practice by shared hosting companies? Sounds a bit shady to me. Surely my counters should be reset on the 1st of every month when I make payment and 20GB of bandwidth should be available from the day payment is made?

• Error loading shared libraries

  Hi, I'm running eclipse on Ubuntu using a g++ compiler and I'm trying to run a sample program that utilizes xerces. The build produced no errors however, when i attempted to run the program, I would receive this error: "error while loading shared libraries: libxerces-c-3.1.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" libxerces-c-3.1.so is in the directory /opt/lib which I have included as a library in eclipse. The file is there when I checked the folder. When I perform an 'echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH', /opt/lib is also listed. Any ideas into where the problem lies? Thanks.   I tried to create a shared folder to my Ubuntu 12.04.3 VM using VMware 5 from my Mac but I don't see the folder anywhere. I've tried to use some commands as suggested here and here, but nothing is still showing... I just get the error: Error: cannot canonicalize mount point: No such file or directory So I make the folder I'm trying to mount to or just try to mount directly to my home folder and get this error now: Error: cannot mount filesystem: No such device Any help is appreciated.

  I've got a BaseDataClass with shared fields and functions Protected Shared dbase as SqlDatabase Protected Shared dbCommand as DBCommand ... //also have a sync object used by the derived classes for Synclock'ing Protected Shared ReadOnly syncObj As Object = New Object() Protected Shared Sub Init() //initializes fields, sets connections Protected Shared Sub CleanAll() //closes connections, disposes, etc. I have several classes that derive from this base class. The derived classes have all Shared functions that can be called directly from the BLL with no instantiation. The functions in these derived classes call the base Init(), call their specific stored procs, call the base CleanAll() and then return the results. So if I have 5 derived classes with 10 functions each, totaling 50 possible function calls, since they are all Shared, the CLR only calls one at a time, right? All calls are queued to wait until each Shared function completes. Is there a better design with having Shared functions in your DAL and still have base class functions? Or since I have a base class, is it better to move towards instance methods within the DAL?

  I have Ubuntu 10 as the guest OS on a Windows 7 machine. I have been trying to setup shares through VirtualBox, but nothing is working. First, I create the share in VirtualBox and point it to a Windows folder. Then I try to mount the drive in Linux, but I keep getting /sbin/mount.vboxsf: mounting failed with the error: Protocol error I have read so many solutions to this, but none seem to work. I have tried: Using the mount.vboxsf syntax Reinstalling VBox additions Rebooting Enabling and trying as root account I made a share called "Test" in VBox Shared folders. Then I made a directory in ubuntu named "test2". Then I tried to execute this command: sudo mount -t vboxsf Test /mnt/test2 Any other ideas?

  I have set up ubuntu server on virtual box on my mac. I created a shared folder which appears to be saved and visible in the configuration section on virtual box for the ubuntu server machine. My only issue is I don't know where this is or how to access it from inside ubuntu server. Does it get it's own directory or do I have to create some sort of a sym-link? If I do need to manually tell it to look in the mac for the file how do I reference the mac machine?

However it doesn't work if I use tabs (from an open terminal `CTRL+SHIFT+T) rather than new windows. Why this difference in behaviour? How can I share the bash history also among various tabs?

  I have an external hard drive connected to my Airport Extreme. I keep my photo and music files on it and can access them from both a Mac PowerPC and a Windows XP machine. For some reason I can find, much less connect to, it on my Ubuntu 10.10 machine. I can see my router in the "network" folder but can't seem to find and connect to the shared drive.   I'm looking to setup a simple online text processing tool similar to the Clang demo. The processing program itself is a C++ program which I can modify to provide the desired output I need. Since I use Linux+Perl daily and have used Apache in the past, I'd like to get this working locally first. My two questions are: Is it possible to do this with only Apache and Perl? I've looked into frameworks for doing this and quickly ran into The Paradox Of Choice. Will I be able to easily transfer a working local site to a shared hosting service? I want to administer as little as possible. My understanding is since this needs to run a C++ program that CGI is a requirement and thus I need to administer the httpd server. Hopefully this doesn't mean a VPS. Thanks

  I use VMware Fusion under Mac, and I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7 as virtual machine. Under Ubuntu, by "shared folder", I used to manage a common folder with Mac via /mnt/hgfs/myfolder. Under Windows, I have set up so that this folder is also accessible. But today I cann't find myfolder anymore under /mnt/hgfs in Ubuntu, while it is still accessible via Windows (and Mac of cause). I tried to restart the machine, reset the sharing settings, it still does not work. Could anyone help?
