    I noticed that if I had Safari open in say, Space 1, I would be sent back to Space 1 if I tried to open Safari in any other space. Now I know that I can open multiple windows of Safari in Space 1 and then just move the windows manually, but is there an easy way to open an already opened program in a new Space?

  • Enforce "spaces" or "tabs" only in python files ?

    In Python, is there a mean to enforce the use of spaces or tabs indentation with a per file basis ? Well, perhaps "enforce" is too strong, its more like "recommands". I keep getting files with mixed indentation and this is annoying... (to say the least) Python itself can tell when there is a problem, but I am searching something to do that at the editor level, like it exists for the charset.

I found a webpage that suggests it's possible (http://www.texteditors.info/notepad-replacements-compared.php) but I couldn't find any information about how to do it. I like to be able to do that because some web forms don't respect code with tabs in it.

Having printed the String to test the "read-in" code, there is an additional space between every character. As I am using the String to generate character bigrams, the spaces are making the sample text useless.     Below is an example of a question given on my last test in a Computer Engineering course. Anyone mind explaining to me how to get the start/end addresses of each? I have listed the correct answers at the bottom... The MSP430F2410 device has an address space of 64 KB (the basic MSP430 architecture). Fill in the table below if we know the following. The first 16 bytes of the address space (starting at the address 0x0000) is reserved for special function registers (IE1, IE2, IFG1, IFG2, etc.), the next 240 bytes is reserved for 8-bit peripheral devices, and the next 256 bytes is reserved for 16-bit peripheral devices.     I've looked over several questions on Stack Overflow for how to convert spaces to tabs without finding what I need. There seem to be more questions about how to convert tabs to spaces, but I'm trying to do the opposite. In Vim I've tried :retab and :retab! without luck, but I believe those are actually for going from tabs to spaces anyways. I tried both expand and unexpand at the command prompt without any luck.     My site's pages are in multiple languages whereby each language version shares its media (images) with the other language versions. I place all versions and the media in a single directory with the same name. E.g. pages mypage-en.html, mypage-fr.html etc. will sit in directory mypage. The directory path suffices to reference a page: h t t p : //....../mypage/ is good enough, there is no need for h t t p : //....../mypage/mypage-en/html A rewrite with RewriteRule ^(.*)/([a-zA-Z0-9]+)/?$ /$1/$2/$2-en.html lets me use the shorter form. But what if the name mypage contains spaces (which some do) ? I want h t t p : //....../my page/ to lead to h t t p : //....../my page/my page.html Using RewriteRule ^(.*)/([a-zA-Z0-9|\s]+)/?$ /$1/$2/$2-en.html did not work. Any hints welcome. (please do not ask me why I want to do this, nor tell me I should not use spaces in file names)

    I'm primarily a Linux user but my main home PC is a Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard. The concept of "Spaces" in a Mac is extremely important to how I utilize my development environments and I use this feature on Linux all the time. I use Compiz Manager for Ubuntu which allows me to "Desktop Switch" and navigate all desktops using the Ctrl+Alt+Arrow keys to a particular desktop. On a Mac, the process is similar, however, you're only given 3 non-customizable short-cuts: Option+Arrow, Ctrl+Arrow, and Alt+Arrow. How can I change the keyboard shortcut to take Ctrl+Option? The keys would then fit my working style and it won't feel awkward to remember two sets of keyboard shortcuts. Thanks! Mahmoud

    With Windows 8 Storage Spaces, you can lump many hard disks of varying types, speeds and sizes together to use as a single storage space / logical drive. How does Windows decide what to place where? For example will it move files about depending on frequency of access? Maybe splitting files frequently accessed together between hard disks etc. What does it optimize for? Speed, reliability, etc? If the above is asking too much, can I easily see where the files are physically (on which physical disk)?

    Hi All, I want to find out whether there is a way in Microsoft Groove to find out which spaces a user is in (and conversely which spaces the user is not in). We run a free script called Personal Backup for Groove for our backups. The script dumps out all the groove spaces that our "backup user" is a member of. However, if someone creates a new space and doesn't invite the backup user, that space will never get backed up. We're trying to find a way to audit the "backup user" membership so that we can ensure that it's invited to all spaces. Thanks!
