  • Web services, J2EE, Spring, DB integration project ideas - maybe data mining related?

    I am a graduate Computer Science student (Data Mining and Machine Learning) and have good exposure to core Java (3 years). I have read up on a bunch of stuff on the following topics: Design patterns, J2EE Web services (SOAP and REST), Spring, and Hibernate Java Concurrency - advanced features like Task and Executors. I would now like to do a project combining this stuff -- over my free time of course -- to get a better understanding of these things and to kind of make an end to end software (to learn the best design principles etc + SVN, maven). Any good project ideas would be really appreciated. I just want to build this stuff to learn, so I don't really mind re-inventing the wheel. Also, anything related to data mining would be an added bonus as it fits with my research but is absolutely not necessary since this project is more to learn to do large scale software development.

  • Lost HDD partition to clean command, testdisk unresponsive

    I accidentally cleaned my external HDD by the clean command in Diskpart and got a full sized heart attack after that. I did some research and I have tried a number of tools already. To name a few: Testdisk Recuva Partition Find and mount Eassos Recovery I have even tried some other dumb sounding tools, but none of them could find the lost partition. They just show "no partition found". Testdisk shows Partition sector doesn't have the endmark 0xAA55. The file recovery softwares list the files, but none of them seem to be able to restore the lost partition. I need to recover the disk as it was. Any help would be much appreciated!

    I want to write nginx rewrite rules for clean URLs. Everytime the user hits http://domain.com/abc/12/16/abc-def-ghi I need to execute domain.com/abc.php?a=12&b=16&c=abc-def-ghi. Now my regex is right as per rubular: ^\/abc\/(\d+)\/(\d+)\/(\w+\S+)$ http://rubular.com/regexes/11063 and rule is if (!-e $request_filename) { rewrite ^\/abc\/(\d+)\/(\d+)\/(\w+\S+)$ abc.php?a=$1&b=$2&c=$3 last; } But it is giving "No input File specified". I cant find what the problem is?

  • Is programming too easy if compared to other fields?

    I have been programming since some years and I won't say its a piece of cake but in this field, you know how to do things. You can always google up resources, tutorials. There are tons of already written code to help you with - frameworks, libraries but if you compare it to other innovation fields like "Electronics". Its not too easy to get started with, the community might not be too large on the internet, getting the things right plus lets not forget there is nothing to tell you where the error might be. I have wanted many times but not be able to get into, like, building some kind of robot because I don't know how to start. So my question is that, does programming tends to be easy compared rest of the fields or is it just my intrest that makes it easy?

    I am using php-fpm. I recently recompiled php for including imap functions.   • Are proofs worth the effort?

    I bought the de-facto book for learning about data structures and algorithms (CLRS). The book is though quite good but the singularity is in the proofs. The book is filled with Lemmas, theorems, peculiar symbols and unimaginable recurrence relations which are very hard to understand. I am able to somehow get the algorithms but the discrete mathematics just not for me. So should I leave them out and just concentrate on algorithims?

  • Troubleshoot telnet connection from Windows 7 to UNIX

    I am trying to connect to an Asterisk server in USA. I am using telnet < IP Address 5038 from India to USA. The person in USA is able to telnet to the IP address and port from USA , but I am not able to do it from India. We are on different networks. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate, and have enabled the Telnet client. I have also used Putty without any success. Can someone suggest me what can be the problem and how can this be resolved.

They told me in the interview that the work will be use Java technology. But this is not the case. I dont want to lose my previous Java experience. And moreover, in my current company , I am working on a language which is not used anywhere. I want to change again.     This script uses a cookie.txt in the same folder chmoded to 777... The problem i am facing is i hav many accounts to login... Say if i hav 5 accounts...i created cookie1.txt,cookie2.txt an so on.. then the script worked..with the post data But i want this to be always logged in and post data.. Can anyone tell me how to do this????? For example, with this SDK we can catch a click on a button and do something on the click. This programming can be done either VB or C#. This can also be used to create new fields on the pre-existing form. We have developed a specific application which allows users to store the definition required for new field in a database table and the fields are created at the run time. So far, this is good. What we require now is that the user should be able to store the validation code for the field in the database and the same should be executed on the run time.     I am new to OpenCV, and trying to capture an image, and then save it to a file. I am posting the code for your reference, below. I have tried the above code in both XP and Vista - the result is a black image on both. Please let me know what I am missing out.

    I am trying to run an ANT script through a small Java program and I keep on encountering the following error: build: Exception in thread "main" build.xml:7: Problem: failed to create task or type eclipse.refreshLocal Cause: The name is undefined. Action: Check the spelling. Action: Check that any custom tasks/types have been declared. Action: Check that any <presetdef>/<macrodef> declarations have taken place. at org.apache.tools.ant.UnknownElement.getNotFoundException(UnknownElement.java:487) at org.apache.tools.ant.UnknownElement.makeObject(UnknownElement.java:419) at org.apache.tools.ant.UnknownElement.maybeConfigure(UnknownElement.java:163) I used to get this problem when I used to execute the build file manually. All I had to do to make Eclipse run this build was to go to Run External Tools External Tools Configuration JRE and select "Run in the same JRE as the workspace" and then attempt to execute. But I have no idea how to achieve the same effect through my code. Any suggestion would really be appreciated. Note that this has reference to a previous question that I asked over here

    I'm trying to work with a non-editable JTextArea added to a JScrollPane. I want a line to be highlighted when the user clicks on that specific line.   • FF extension: displaying an array of string elements in a sidebar

    I am developing a ff extension which displays a list of elements from an array (dynamic) in the sidebar. The array is dynamic and needs to be constructed in a function everytime the sidebar is opened (or any other event handler). Later, i will need to implement link functionality on parts of the string. What is the best way to go about this? I have created an empty sidebar and just know the label element as of now. menu, and menuitem dont work. What other elements can i use to display text in a good way which supports dynamic contruction. Is there some good tutorial/sample extension which i can see and learn?

  • How to recover bitlocker encrypted partition that is now 'unallocated'/'free space'?

    My hard drive had 5 partitions(including 1(some 4-5GB) bit locker encrypted one). When I used disk mgmt I could view 2 partitions(24.4GB and 8.94GB) in green colour labeled Empty space. So, I wanted to merge them and I used minitool partition wizard for the purpose. I don't know, what that software did, but all I was left with 2 partitions and lots of green free space. I recovered 2 partitions using EaseUS partition master, but the bitlocker encrypted partition cannot be searched by it(and also minitool partition recovery). Now, the disk mgmt shows 2 free space partitions of 28.36GB and 8.94GB respectively. Here is a screenshot http://s14.postimage.org/4tvij041t/Screen_Shot003.jpg Please, tell me a way to recover the bitlocker encrypted partition that is showing as a free space in disk management. P.S. - It contains very important data.
