  • Creating Wildcard Certificates with makecert.exe

    - by Shawn Cicoria
    Be nice to be able to make wildcard certificates for use in development with makecert – turns out, it’s real easy.  Just ensure that your CN=  is the wildcard string to use. The following sequence generates a CA cert, then the public/private key pair for a wildcard certificate REM make the CA makecert -pe -n "CN=*.contosotest.com" -a sha1 -len 2048 -sky exchange -eku 1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.1 -ic CA.cer -iv CA.pvk -sp "Microsoft RSA SChannel Cryptographic Provider" -sy 12 -sv wildcard.pvk wildcard.cer pvk2pfx -pvk wildcard.pvk -spc wildcard.cer -pfx wildcard.pfx REM now make the server wildcard cert makecert -pe -n "CN=*.contosotest.com" -a sha1 -len 2048 -sky exchange -eku 1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.1 -ic CA.cer -iv CA.pvk -sp "Microsoft RSA SChannel Cryptographic Provider" -sy 12 -sv wildcard.pvk wildcard.cer pvk2pfx -pvk wildcard.pvk -spc wildcard.cer -pfx wildcard.pfx

  • Platformer Collision Error [closed]

    - by Connor
    I am currently working on a relatively simple platform game that has an odd bug.You start the game by falling onto the ground (you spawn a few blocks above the ground), but when you land your feet get stuck INSIDE the world and you can't move until you jump. Here's what I mean: The player's feet are a few pixels below the ground level. However, this problem only occurs in 3 places throughout the map and only in those 3 select places. I'm assuming that the problem lies within my collision detection code but I'm not entirely sure, as I don't get an error when it happens. public boolean isCollidingWithBlock(Point pt1, Point pt2) { //Checks x for(int x = (int) (this.x / Tile.tileSize); x < (int) (this.x / Tile.tileSize + 4); x++) { //Checks y for(int y = (int) (this.y / Tile.tileSize); y < (int) (this.y / Tile.tileSize + 4); y++) { if(x >= 0 && y >= 0 && x < Component.dungeon.block.length && y < Component.dungeon.block[0].length) { //If the block is not air if(Component.dungeon.block[x][y].id != Tile.air) { //If the player is in contact with point one or two on the block if(Component.dungeon.block[x][y].contains(pt1) || Component.dungeon.block[x][y].contains(pt2)) { //Checks for specific blocks if(Component.dungeon.block[x][y].id == Tile.portalBlock) { Component.isLevelDone = true; } if(Component.dungeon.block[x][y].id == Tile.spike) { Health.health -= 1; Component.isJumping = true; if(Health.health == 0) { Component.isDead = true; } } return true; } } } } } return false; } What I'm asking is how I would fix the problem. I've looked over my code for quite a while and I'm not sure what's wrong with it. Also, if there's a more efficient way to do my collision checking then please let me know! I hope that is enough information, if it's not just tell me what you need and I'll be sure to add it. Thank you! [EDIT] Jump code: if(!isJumping && !isCollidingWithBlock(new Point((int) x + 2, (int) (y + height)), new Point((int) (x + width + 2), (int) (y + height)))) { y += fallSpeed; //sY is the screen's Y. The game is a side-scroller Component.sY += fallSpeed; } else { if(Component.isJumping) { isJumping = true; } } if(isJumping) { if(!isCollidingWithBlock(new Point((int) x + 2, (int) y), new Point((int) (x + width + 2), (int) y))) { if(jumpCount >= jumpHeight) { isJumping = false; jumpCount = 0; } else { y -= jumpSpeed; Component.sY -= jumpSpeed; jumpCount += 1; } } else { isJumping = false; jumpCount = 0; } }

  • weird performance in C++ (VC 2010)

    - by raicuandi
    Hello, I have this loop written in C++, that compiled with MSVC2010 takes a long time to run. (300ms) for (int i=0; i<h; i++) { for (int j=0; j<w; j++) { if (buf[i*w+j] > 0) { const int sy = max(0, i - hr); const int ey = min(h, i + hr + 1); const int sx = max(0, j - hr); const int ex = min(w, j + hr + 1); float val = 0; for (int k=sy; k < ey; k++) { for (int m=sx; m < ex; m++) { val += original[k*w + m] * ds[k - i + hr][m - j + hr]; } } heat_map[i*w + j] = val; } } } It seemed a bit strange to me, so I did some tests then changed a few bits to inline assembly: (specifically, the code that sums "val") for (int i=0; i<h; i++) { for (int j=0; j<w; j++) { if (buf[i*w+j] > 0) { const int sy = max(0, i - hr); const int ey = min(h, i + hr + 1); const int sx = max(0, j - hr); const int ex = min(w, j + hr + 1); __asm { fldz } for (int k=sy; k < ey; k++) { for (int m=sx; m < ex; m++) { float val = original[k*w + m] * ds[k - i + hr][m - j + hr]; __asm { fld val fadd } } } float val1; __asm { fstp val1 } heat_map[i*w + j] = val1; } } } Now it runs in half the time, 150ms. It does exactly the same thing, but why is it twice as quick? In both cases it was run in Release mode with optimizations on. Am I doing anything wrong in my original C++ code?

  • Where's my memory?! Nginx + PHP-FPM front end webserver slows to a crawl...

    - by incredimike
    I'm not sure if I have a problem with a memory leak (as my hosting company suggests), or if we both need to read http://linuxatemyram.com. Maybe you clever people can help us out? This is a front-end webserver VM running essentially only nginx & php-fpm on RHEL 5.5. This server is powering Magento, a PHP eCommerce thinggy. The server is running in a shared environment, but we're changing that soon. Anyway.. after a reboot the server runs just fine, but within a day it will grind itself into nothingness. Pages will take literally 2 minutes to load, CPU spikes like crazy, etc.. The console is even sluggish when I SSH in. It's like my whole server is being brought to its knees. I've also been monitoring the DB server via top and tcpdumping incoming traffic. The DB stays idle for a good portion of that "slow" load time. When i start seeing queries coming from the front-end server, the page loads soon afterward. Here are some stats after me logging in during a slow-down, after restarting php-fpm: [mike@front01 ~]$ free -m total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 5963 5217 745 0 192 314 -/+ buffers/cache: 4711 1252 Swap: 4047 4 4042 [mike@front01 ~]$ top top - 11:38:55 up 2 days, 1:01, 3 users, load average: 0.06, 0.17, 0.21 Tasks: 131 total, 1 running, 130 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie Cpu0 : 0.0%us, 0.3%sy, 0.0%ni, 99.3%id, 0.3%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.0%st Cpu1 : 0.3%us, 0.0%sy, 0.0%ni, 99.7%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.0%st Cpu2 : 0.0%us, 0.0%sy, 0.0%ni,100.0%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.0%st Cpu3 : 0.0%us, 0.0%sy, 0.0%ni,100.0%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.0%st Mem: 6106800k total, 5361288k used, 745512k free, 199960k buffers Swap: 4144728k total, 4976k used, 4139752k free, 328480k cached PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 31806 apache 15 0 601m 120m 37m S 0.0 2.0 0:22.23 php-fpm 31805 apache 15 0 549m 66m 31m S 0.0 1.1 0:14.54 php-fpm 31809 apache 16 0 547m 65m 32m S 0.0 1.1 0:12.84 php-fpm 32285 apache 15 0 546m 63m 33m S 0.0 1.1 0:09.22 php-fpm 32373 apache 15 0 546m 62m 32m S 0.0 1.1 0:09.66 php-fpm 31808 apache 16 0 543m 60m 35m S 0.0 1.0 0:18.93 php-fpm 31807 apache 16 0 533m 49m 30m S 0.0 0.8 0:08.93 php-fpm 32092 apache 15 0 535m 48m 27m S 0.0 0.8 0:06.67 php-fpm 4392 root 18 0 194m 10m 7184 S 0.0 0.2 0:06.96 cvd 4064 root 15 0 154m 8304 4220 S 0.0 0.1 3:55.57 snmpd 4394 root 15 0 119m 5660 2944 S 0.0 0.1 0:02.84 EvMgrC 31804 root 15 0 519m 5180 932 S 0.0 0.1 0:00.46 php-fpm 4138 ntp 15 0 23396 5032 3904 S 0.0 0.1 0:02.38 ntpd 643 nginx 15 0 95276 4408 1524 S 0.0 0.1 0:01.15 nginx 5131 root 16 0 90128 3340 2600 S 0.0 0.1 0:01.41 sshd 28467 root 15 0 90128 3340 2600 S 0.0 0.1 0:00.35 sshd 32602 root 16 0 90128 3332 2600 S 0.0 0.1 0:00.36 sshd 1614 root 16 0 90128 3308 2588 S 0.0 0.1 0:00.02 sshd 2817 root 5 -10 7216 3140 1724 S 0.0 0.1 0:03.80 iscsid 4161 root 15 0 66948 2340 800 S 0.0 0.0 0:10.35 sendmail 1617 nicole 17 0 53876 2000 1516 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.02 sftp-server ...     Hi I am trying to write a code that will show an acceleration wheel. as long as the user press 'a' the wheel should accelerate counterclock wize. the thing is that it turn in the right direction but it doesn't accelerate. This is the code I am using . PTB-3 windows XP. img=imread('c:\images.jpg'); [yimg,ximg,z]=size(img); rot_spd = 1; larrow = KbName('a'); % modify this for Windows rarrow = KbName('b'); [w,rect]=Screen('OpenWindow',0,[0 0 0]); sx = 400; % desired x-size of image (pixels) sy = yimg*sx/ximg; % desired y-size--keep proportional t = Screen('MakeTexture',w,img); bdown=0; th = 0; % initial rotation angle (degrees) HideCursor while(~any(bdown)) % exit loop if mouse button is pressed [x,y,bdown]=GetMouse; [keyisdown,secs,keycode] = KbCheck; if(keycode(larrow)) th = th - rot_spd-1; % accelerate counterclockwise th end if(keycode(rarrow)) th = th + rot_spd+1; % accelerate clockwise th end destrect=[x-sx/2,y-sy/2,x+sx/2,y+sy/2]; Screen('DrawTexture',w,t,[],destrect,th); Screen('Flip',w); end Screen('Close',w) ShowCursor If anyone has an odea why it doesn't accelerate I'd appriciate it very much.   • Vmstat indicates memory is disappearing

    - by jimbotron
    I wanted to profile the memory usage of a script. Here's the output before it was running: procs -----------memory---------- ---swap-- -----io---- -system-- ----cpu---- r b swpd free buff cache si so bi bo in cs us sy id wa 0 0 15624 186660 39460 439052 0 0 0 2 1 1 0 0 100 0 Here's the output while the script is running, at the point where free memory was at its lowest value: procs -----------memory---------- ---swap-- -----io---- -system-- ----cpu---- r b swpd free buff cache si so bi bo in cs us sy id wa 0 0 15624 11464 40312 473524 0 0 0 2 1 1 0 0 100 0 So free memory dropped by about 175 MB, and I expected that buff would increase by that amount. But it seems the other columns changed by relatively negligible amounts - how is this possible? Am I interpreting this wrong, or is some memory just not being accounted for in this output?

  • Mapping A Sphere To A Cube

    - by petrocket
    There is a special way of mapping a cube to a sphere described here: http://mathproofs.blogspot.com/2005/07/mapping-cube-to-sphere.html It is not your basic "normalize the point and your done" approach and gives a much more evenly spaced mapping. I've tried to do the inverse of the mapping going from sphere coords to cube coords and have been unable to come up the working equations. It's a rather complex system of equations with lots of square roots. Any math geniuses want to take a crack at it? Here's the equations in c++ code: sx = x * sqrtf(1.0f - y * y * 0.5f - z * z * 0.5f + y * y * z * z / 3.0f); sy = y * sqrtf(1.0f - z * z * 0.5f - x * x * 0.5f + z * z * x * x / 3.0f); sz = z * sqrtf(1.0f - x * x * 0.5f - y * y * 0.5f + x * x * y * y / 3.0f); sx,sy,sz are the sphere coords and x,y,z are the cube coords.

  • Getting SIGILL in float to fixed conversion

    - by foliveira
    I'm receiving a SIGILL after running the following code. I can't really figure what's wrong with it. The target platform is ARM, and I'm trying to port a known library (in which this code is contained) void convertFloatToFixed(float nX, float nY, unsigned int &nFixed) { short sx = (short) (nX * 32); short sy = (short) (nY * 32); unsigned short *ux = (unsigned short*) &sx; unsigned short *uy = (unsigned short*) &sy; nFixed = (*ux << 16) | *uy; } Any help on it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

  • Proper Translation of equation to C#

    - by Shykin
    I am trying to replicate this equation: Slope(b) = (NSXY - (SX)(SY)) / (NSX2 - (SX)2) in C# but I'm getting the following issue: If I make the average of X = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 and the average Y = 5 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 it gives me a positive slope even though it is clearly counting down. If I place the same numbers into this calculator: http://www.easycalculation.com/statistics/regression.php It gives me a negative slope in the linked calculator with the same data. I'm trying to narrow down the reasons so is the following a proper translation from equation to C# code: Slope(b) = (NSXY - (SX)(SY)) / (NSX2 - (SX)2) to Slope (m) = ((x * avgX * avgY) - (avgX * avgY)) / ((x * Math.Pow(avgX, 2)) - Math.Pow(avgX, 2));

  • How do I randomly generate a top-down 2D level with separate sections and is infinite?

    - by Bagofsheep
    I've read many other questions/answers about random level generation but most of them deal with either randomly/proceduraly generating 2D levels viewed from the side or 3D levels. What I'm trying to achieve is sort of like you were looking straight down on a Minecraft map. There is no height, but the borders of each "biome" or "section" of the map are random and varied. I already have basic code that can generate a perfectly square level with the same tileset (randomly picking segments from the tileset image), but I've encountered a major issue for wanting the level to be infinite: Beyond a certain point, the tiles' positions become negative on one or both of the axis. The code I use to only draw tiles the player can see relies on taking the tiles position and converting it to the index number that represents it in the array. As you well know, arrays cannot have a negative index. Here is some of my code: This generates the square (or rectangle) of tiles: //Scale is in tiles public void Generate(int sX, int sY) { scaleX = sX; scaleY = sY; for (int y = 0; y <= scaleY; y++) { tiles.Add(new List<Tile>()); for (int x = 0; x <= scaleX; x++) { tiles[tiles.Count - 1].Add(tileset.randomTile(x * tileset.TileSize, y * tileset.TileSize)); } } } Before I changed the code after realizing an array index couldn't be negative my for loops looked something like this to center the map around (0, 0): for (int y = -scaleY / 2; y <= scaleY / 2; y++) for (int x = -scaleX / 2; x <= scaleX / 2; x++) Here is the code that draws the tiles: int startX = (int)Math.Floor((player.Position.X - (graphics.Viewport.Width) - tileset.TileSize) / tileset.TileSize); int endX = (int)Math.Ceiling((player.Position.X + (graphics.Viewport.Width) + tileset.TileSize) / tileset.TileSize); int startY = (int)Math.Floor((player.Position.Y - (graphics.Viewport.Height) - tileset.TileSize) / tileset.TileSize); int endY = (int)Math.Ceiling((player.Position.Y + (graphics.Viewport.Height) + tileset.TileSize) / tileset.TileSize); for (int y = startY; y < endY; y++) { for (int x = startX; x < endX; x++) { if (x >= 0 && y >= 0 && x <= scaleX && y <= scaleY) tiles[y][x].Draw(spriteBatch); } } So to summarize what I'm asking: First, how do I randomly generate a top-down 2D map with different sections (not chunks per se, but areas with different tile sets) and second, how do I get past this negative array index issue?

  • High load average, low CPU and IO (Centos 5.7)

    - by Ben
    A Drupal 7 site with CiviCRM, after running smoothly for a year on a 1&1 VPS suddenly became unresponsive. Now pages eventually load, but can take more than a minute. Looking at resource use in Virtuozzo, the load average carries a warning, and has remained above 1. While I understand this isn't particularly high, this is a change from when the site was working. Here is a typical snapshot of top: top - 03:10:32 up 3:21, 1 user, load average: 1.16, 1.22, 1.30 Tasks: 43 total, 1 running, 42 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie Cpu(s): 0.1%us, 0.1%sy, 0.1%ni, 99.7%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.0%st Mem: 2097152k total, 1015112k used, 1082040k free, 0k buffers Swap: 0k total, 0k used, 0k free, 0k cached CPU idle level never seems to go much below 70%. wa is virtually always at 0. There appears to be lots of free memory. And here is some vmstat output, again showign wa at 0, plenty of free memory, and an idle CPU: procs -----------memory---------- ---swap-- -----io---- --system-- -----cpu------ r b swpd free buff cache si so bi bo in cs us sy id wa st 2 0 0 1100872 0 0 0 0 2783 23672 0 538 1 0 99 0 0 1 0 0 1100872 0 0 0 0 0 16 0 101754 0 0 100 0 0 0 0 0 1100872 0 0 0 0 0 17 0 103133 0 0 100 0 0 0 0 0 1100872 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 102080 0 0 100 0 0 1 0 0 1100872 0 0 0 0 0 6 0 99881 0 0 100 0 0 0 0 0 1100872 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 105187 0 0 100 0 0 I've spoken to 1&1 but they don't have any ideas as to what could be causing the high load average. Instead they suggested an upgrade :) I've looked for processes that might be causing this, examined MySQL showprocesslist, and restarted the container with no result. Does anyone have more troubleshooting suggestions or insights?

  • load average in top and procs in vmstat

    - by Mingfei.hua
    As far as I know, the load average in top is the numbers of precess(threads) in running or uninterrupted sleep status, So it should be equal to (procs-r +1 )+ procs-b in vmstat, but in practice, this two number always have big gap. • No clue for high load average on top

    We have several machines on Amazon (ec2) of the type c1.xlarge with 16 cpus, running the Amazon AMI. Details on the machine: 7 GB of memory 20 EC2 Compute Units (8 virtual cores with 2.5 EC2 Compute Units each) 1690 GB of instance storage 64-bit platform I/O Performance: High API name: c1.xlarge One out of the several machines is showing a high load average, since we have run the last yum upgrade a couple of weeks a go. We did not yet update the other machines, and everything looks normal on them. The strange thing is that the top command not showing any hint for the cause of the load. • MySQL query, 2 similar servers, 2 minute difference in execution times

    - by mr12086
    I had a similar question on stack overflow, but it seems to be more server/mysql setup related than coding. The queries below all execute instantly on our development server where as they can take upto 2 minutes 20 seconds. The query execution time seems to be affected by home ambiguous the LIKE string's are. If they closely match a country that has few matches it will take less time, and if you use something like 'ge' for germany - it will take longer to execute. But this doesn't always work out like that, at times its quite erratic. Sending data appears to be the culprit but why and what does that mean. • Mysqld increases the load on the CPU and drops after flush-tables

    - by mirage
    Help please advice on the issue. Normal load on the cpu 20-30% us + sy. After restoring the database files from the slave server (same version) began a periodic problem. mysql starts to load the cpu at 100% (us + sy grows proportionally). The queue is growing, everything slows down. But with mysqladmin flush-tables are normalized for a few hours. Dedicated linux server running mysql 2 x E5506 24Gb RAM, database size 50Gb.
