  • MySql: Problem when using a temporary table

    - by Alex
Hi, I'm trying to use a temporary tables to store some values I need for a query. The reason of using a temporary table is that I don't want to store the data permanently so different users can modify it at the same time. That data is just stored for a second, so I think a temporary table is the best approach for this. The thing is that it seems that the way I'm trying to use it is not right (the query works if I use a permanent one). This is an example of query: CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE SearchMatches (PatternID int not null primary key, Matches int not null) INSERT INTO SearchMatches (PatternID, Matches) VALUES ('12605','1'),('12503','1'),('12587','2'),('12456','1'), ('12457','2'),('12486','2'),('12704','1'),(' 12686','1'), ('12531','2'),('12549','1'),('12604','1'),('12504','1'), ('12586','1'),('12548','1'),('12 530','1'),('12687','2'), ('12485','1'),('12705','1') SELECT pat.id, signatures.signature, products.product, versions.version, builds.build, pat.log_file, sig_types.sig_type, pat.notes, pat.kb FROM patterns AS pat INNER JOIN signatures ON pat.signature = signatures.id INNER JOIN products ON pat.product = products.id INNER JOIN versions ON pat.version = versions.id INNER JOIN builds ON pat.build = builds.id INNER JOIN sig_types ON pat.sig_type = sig_types.id, SearchMatches AS sm INNER JOIN patterns ON patterns.id = sm.PatternID WHERE sm.Matches <> 0 ORDER BY sm.Matches DESC, products.product, versions.version, builds.build LIMIT 0 , 50 Any suggestion? Thanks.

  • Old files on computer not visible after upgrade

    - by Srinivasan
I recently upgraded Ubuntu OS to 12.04.01 version by selecting the option to upgrade and preserve old files. After installation, I am not able to view my old files on the computer. Can anyone help to retrieve all the old files and make it available with the new installation? The computer hard disk shows that it still has the capacity nearly full with all my old files. Netbook Acer AOA150 model. Thanks in advance. Srinivasan

  • Entity Framework, full-text search and temporary tables

    - by markus
I have a LINQ-2-Entity query builder, nesting different kinds of Where clauses depending on a fairly complex search form. Works great so far. Now I need to use a SQL Server fulltext search index in some of my queries. Is there any chance to add the search term directly to the LINQ query, and have the score available as a selectable property? If not, I could write a stored procedure to load a list of all row IDs matching the full-text search criteria, and then use a LINQ-2-Entity query to load the detail data and evaluate other optional filter criteria in a loop per row. That would be of course a very bad idea performance-wise. Another option would be to use a stored procedure to insert all row IDs matching the full-text search into a temporary table, and then let the LINQ query join the temporary table. Question is: how to join a temporary table in a LINQ query, as it cannot be part of the entity model?

  • file acess slow after deletion of many files

    - by stefan
I recently accidentally created millions of files in one folder (rougly 5 million) and due to limitations I couldn't process them correctly (maximum argument count exceeded for wc / ls and such stuff). So I deleted them, which took quite a while, but now they're gone. I deleted the files with a regular rm. It weren't any system files. So the files are definitively deleted, but the system is very slow on file stuff now. ls, cat and auto-complete by pressing tab freezes the terminal for several seconds. Is this some sort of fragmentation issue? Is it an issue with the files beeing still somehow present?

  • ".ts " files not recognised

    - by Keith Gardner
I have some .ts files (programs recorded from my Sharp TV on USB stick) that I want to store/play on my PC. However, although they are listed on the stick when its plugged in the PC nothing will recognize the files. I have tried VLC (the "slider" moves but there's no sound or video) and changed the extension to MPEG, MP2, etc. but no joy. I have tried converting the files with file converters and demuxers but none of these recognize the files. Are the files corrupted (they play on the TV) or do Sharp have a unique file structure? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to prevent Linux from deleting temporary files on shutdown

    - by Rajorshi
Hi, I am using Ubutu 10.04. I have some apps that create a few temporary files in /tmp/<file> as part of their shutdown process. I want to inspect those files when the apps are closed in the event of a system shutdown. However, when the system comes up again I find that all temporary files have been deleted. How can I ask the system not to clear the files in /tmp/ on shutdown?

I have: CREATE temporary TABLE _temp_unique_parts_trading engine=memory AS (SELECT parts_trading.enquiryref, sellingcurrency, jobs.id AS jobID FROM parts_trading, jobs WHERE jobs.enquiryref = parts_trading.enquiryref GROUP BY parts_trading.enquiryref) But where do I define the keys?

  • rvalues and temporary objects in the FCD

    - by FredOverflow
It took me quite some time to understand the difference between an rvalue and a temporary object. But now the final committee draft states on page 75: An rvalue [...] is an xvalue, a temporary object or subobject thereof, or a value that is not associated with an object. I can't believe my eyes. This must be an error, right?

  • How do I use Group Policy on a domain to delete Temporary Internet Files?

    - by Muhammad Ali
I have a domain controller running on Windows 2008 Server R2 and users login to application servers on which Windows 2003 Server SP2 is installed. I have applied a Group Policy to clean temporary internet files on exit i.e to delete all temporary internet files when users close the browser. But the group policy doesn't seem to work as user profile size keeps on increasing and the major space is occupied by temporary internet files therefore increasing the disk usage. How can i enforce automatic deletion of temporary internet files?

Is there any other efficient way to use table variable instead of using temporary table we are using following code: -- banner location CURSOR -- DECLARE banner_location_cursor CURSOR FOR select bm.id as masterId, bm.section as masterName, bs.id as locationId, bs.sectionName as locationName from banner_master as bm inner join banner_section as bs on bm.id=bs.masterId where bm.section=sCode ; -- DECLARE banner CURSORS DECLARE banner_cursor CURSOR FOR SELECT bd.id as bannerId, bd.sectionId, bd.bannerName, bd.websiteURL, bd.paymentType, bd.status, bd.startDate, bd.endDate, bd.bannerDisplayed, bs.id, bs.sectionName from banner_detail as bd inner join banner_section as bs on bs.id=bd.sectionId where bs.id= location_id and bd.status='A' and (dates between cast(bd.startDate as DATE) and cast(bd.endDate as DATE)) order by rand(), bd.bannerDisplayed asc limit 1 ; DECLARE CONTINUE HANDLER FOR NOT FOUND SET no_more_rows = 1; SET dates = (select curdate()); -- RESULTS TABLE WHICH WILL BE RETURNED -- CREATE temporary TABLE test ( b_id INT, s_id INT, b_name varchar(128), w_url varchar(128), p_type varchar(128), st char(1), s_date datetime, e_date datetime, b_display int, sec_id int, s_name varchar(128) ); -- OPEN banner location CURSOR OPEN banner_location_cursor; the_loop: LOOP FETCH banner_location_cursor INTO master_id, master_name, location_id, location_name; IF no_more_rows THEN CLOSE banner_location_cursor; leave the_loop; END IF; OPEN banner_cursor; -- select FOUND_ROWS(); the_loop2: LOOP FETCH banner_cursor INTO banner_id, section_id, banner_name, website_url, payment, status, start_date, end_date, banner_displayed, sec_id, section_name; IF no_more_rows THEN set no_more_rows = 0; CLOSE banner_cursor; leave the_loop2; END IF; INSERT INTO test ( b_id, s_id, b_name , w_url, p_type, st, s_date, e_date, b_display, sec_id, s_name ) VALUES ( banner_id, section_id, banner_name, website_url, payment, status, start_date, end_date, banner_displayed, sec_id, section_name ); UPDATE banner_detail set bannerDisplayed = (banner_displayed+1) where id = banner_id; END LOOP the_loop2; END LOOP the_loop; -- RETURN result SELECT * FROM test; -- DROP RESULTS TABLE DROP TABLE test; END

  • Delete temporary files from batch script in xp

    - by Keith Bentrup
I'm looking for a good batch script that would quickly find & clean all the known safe temporary folders/files from Windows (as many variants as possible) machines (e.g. the windows temp folder, all users IE temp folders, etc.). I'm fond of UI tools like CCleaner (over Cleanmgr.exe), but when I'm trying to clean several computers quickly and/or with minimal involvement, it would be nice to have a script. Plus with a script, I could chain several scripts together. Maybe one to then fire up various antivirus and/or malware detectors. Anyone have a good one or can point to a good resource?

  • Conflicts with MS Office temporary files when using Offline Folders on Vista

    - by Tambet
We are using Offline Folders feature of Windows Vista to make files on network shares available when out of office. Mostly it is working, but every time I do a sync I get a lot of such errors: D500E7B8.tmp - A file was deleted on this computer and changed on the server while this computer was offline. There are hundreds of them. I always select all of them and choose resolution "Delete from both locations". But what is causing this and how can I avoid it? I suspect the reason is that we are using Debian and Samba (3.4.7) on our file server. I've been looking for some Samba options that would cure this, but with no success. I learned that probably the cause is, that both Word and Excel are using specific pattern to change files - they never change the original file, but instead always write a new temporary file and rename it to original file, when you click Save. This is documented here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/211632/?FR=1.

  • Slow to sync music files?

    - by pst007x
I have created a folder in the Ubuntu One sync folder and called it music. I have added various albums and the folder has started to sync. However the files were added back in October and still only the folders have synced and no music files. I tested this service before and added a single music file directly into the Ubuntu One folder (no sub folders) and within a few days it synced, however it seems anything in sub folders seem to stall or take a very long time. My ubuntu One program always says syncing and the progression bar creeps, but still no files synced. I know there are issues with speed but a month and going to sync? I recently tested the same files with Dropbox and it took 9 hours. I have port forwarded the https (443) port both in the software firewall and in my router, I tried disabling both firewalls too, either way it makes no difference. I have also tried both from home and the office on different Ubuntu systems. Is there anything anyone has done to improve this service? I am trying to integrate Ubuntu One service into the office to share project files but the syncing is taking to long. I am using the latest Ubuntu 10.10 (fully updated, fresh install), I love Ubuntu and wish to continue to support it anyway I can, so a solution would be good :-) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Paul

  • How to Banish Duplicate Photos with VisiPic

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
You meant well, you intended to be a good file custodian, but somewhere along the way things got out of hand and you’ve got duplicate photos galore. Don’t be afraid to delete them and lose important photos, read on as we show you how to clean safely. Deleting duplicate files, especially important ones like personal photos, makes a lot of people quite anxious (and rightfully so). Nobody wants to be the one to realize that they deleted all the photos of their child’s first birthday party during a hard drive purge gone wrong. In this tutorial we’re going to show you how to go beyond the limited reach of  tools which simply compare file names and file sizes. Instead we’ll be using a program that combines that kind of comparison with actual image analysis to help you weed out not just perfect 1:1 file duplicates but also those piles of resized for email images, cropped images, and other modified images that might be cluttering up your hard drive. • Is there any ways to extend the search (find-in-files) capability of WinRAR?

    - by akjain
WinRAR is good at searching for a string in text files(java, xml, txt etc.) within an archive and it supports multiple archive formats. (rar, 7zip, winzip etc) Is there some way to extend this feature (by means of plug-ins etc) to search within Pdf & office files (doc, ppt), Or any other similar unzip tool which has this feature? (Extracting the entire archive & searching using Windows search is always one option)

  • SQL Server, temporary tables with truncate vs table variable with delete

    - by Richard
I have a stored procedure inside which I create a temporary table that typically contains between 1 and 10 rows. This table is truncated and filled many times during the stored procedure. It is truncated as this is faster than delete. Do I get any performance increase by replacing this temporary table with a table variable when I suffer a penalty for using delete (truncate does not work on table variables) Whilst table variables are mainly in memory and are generally faster than temp tables do I loose any benefit by having to delete rather than truncate?

  • Turning temporary stringstream to c_str() in single statement

    - by AshleysBrain
Consider the following function: void f(const char* str); Suppose I want to generate a string using stringstream and pass it to this function. If I want to do it in one statement, I might try: f((std::ostringstream() << "Value: " << 5).str().c_str()); // error This gives an error: 'str()' is not a member of 'basic_ostream'. OK, so operator<< is returning ostream instead of ostringstream - how about casting it back to an ostringstream? 1) Is this cast safe? f(static_cast<std::ostringstream&>(std::ostringstream() << "Value: " << 5).str().c_str()); // incorrect output Now with this, it turns out for the operator<<("Value: ") call, it's actually calling ostream's operator<<(void*) and printing a hex address. This is wrong, I want the text. 2) Why does operator<< on the temporary std::ostringstream() call the ostream operator? Surely the temporary has a type of 'ostringstream' not 'ostream'? I can cast the temporary to force the correct operator call too! f(static_cast<std::ostringstream&>(static_cast<std::ostringstream&>(std::ostringstream()) << "Value: " << 5).str().c_str()); This appears to work and passes "Value: 5" to f(). 3) Am I relying on undefined behavior now? The casts look unusual. I'm aware the best alternative is something like this: std::ostringstream ss; ss << "Value: " << 5; f(ss.str().c_str()); ...but I'm interested in the behavior of doing it in one line. Suppose someone wanted to make a (dubious) macro: #define make_temporary_cstr(x) (static_cast<std::ostringstream&>(static_cast<std::ostringstream&>(std::ostringstream()) << x).str().c_str()) // ... f(make_temporary_cstr("Value: " << 5)); Would this function as expected?
