• ETPS/" Elantech Touchpad fails detecting single finger

  I have a new laptop with an "ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad". A single finger is only detected, if it is held in such a way that a big area touches the pad. If one touches the pad only with the fingertip, it wil not be detected, both for clicking and for moving the pointer. Strangley, two-finger gestures are detected even if the pad is only touched with the fingertips. On ubuntuusers.de I found that Elantech touchpads require to reload the psmouse-module by: sudo modprobe -r psmouse sudo modprobe psmouse proto=imps If I do this, one finger finally gets detected as it should, but all two or more finger gestures stop working. Also grep -B 5 mouse /proc/bus/input/devices tells that the touchpad now is identified as a mouse, while before the changes it was identified correctly as ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad.

  Having asked about touchpad not only once but twice. I have again come back to same topic :D. Basically I have a working two finger scrolling after adding the following line in /etc/profile after I enabled two finger scrolling in touchpad section of mouse. xinput set-int-prop "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Synaptics Two-Finger Pressure" 32 40 But my touchpad sensitivity quite irritates me as it jumps around sometimes and also behaves scrolling as well as right click on single finger sometimes. Anyone can suggest me any tips to minimize this if not avoid ? Anyone know if I could use pinch zoom(Finally got the right term:)) as my touchpad says it supports such activity as well?   Whenever I have an application running (Visual Studio 2008, Notepad, etc.) under "Run as Administrator", I cannot drag and drop files from Windows Explorer into the application. I've tried running Windows Explorer as administrator, but to no avail. Is there a way to get drag and drop to work when my applications are under "Run as Administrator"?

  While I don't really miss the annoyances that go with working on Windows, one thing I do wish I had in Gnome is the ability to hold the right-mouse button down on a file and drag it to get the context menu asking if I want to move or copy the file. I realise the default tries to be sensible (like in Windows - defaults to move if on the same volume, or copy if on different) and that it can be overridden with <ctrl> or <shift> - but i'm still used to the right-mouse drag option and keep getting frustrated when it doesn't work...

• Drag and Drop in Silverlight with F# and Asynchronous Workflows

  Hello everyone! I'm trying to implement drag and drop in Silverlight using F# and asynchronous workflows. I'm simply trying to drag around a rectangle on the canvas, using two loops for the the two states (waiting and dragging), an idea I got from Tomas Petricek's book "Real-world Functional Programming", but I ran into a problem: Unlike WPF or WinForms, Silverlight's MouseEventArgs do not carry information about the button state, so I can't return from the drag-loop by checking if the left mouse button is no longer pressed. I only managed to solve this by introducing a mutable flag. Would anyone have a solution for this, that does not involve mutable state? • Your finger prints may unlock your iPhone and it’s digital wallets

  The next version of iPhone is going to have a biometric sensor which may allow your finger prints to authenticate and authorize – unlock the device, sign in to an account, authorize a credit card transaction, etc . The iOS 7 beta 4 released couple of days ago had many traces of biometric software libraries embedded in the OS and they make it pretty clear that Apple is preparing a new iPhone with finger sensor. Biometric sensors are not something new in digital devices. Most of us have been already using them on your laptops to unlock the computers as well as to launch applications. Though these sensors are available in many devices, they are hardly reliable. My personal laptop has a biometric sensor and half of the time either it does not work or it does not recognize my finger prints. When works, it works like a charm and very easy to unlock my device. But Apple is known for delivering great products by nailing down technical challenges and blending technology with beautiful user interfaces.  They had been doing when Steve Jobs was leading the pack and hope his legacy will be carried forward by Tim Cook by delivering amazing products in coming months.  I expect iPhone finger sensors to work flawlessly. • Where to start on creating finger swipe navigation in an collection of items

  Lets say I want to make a control to select any integer number by dragging on a "bar" with numbers: (156 is selected) Mousedown on "159" and dragging towards the left and then doing mouseup changes the control to this: (160 is selected) I've been experimenting for the past 3 hours but I'm inexperienced in Silverlight so I'm having problems getting started. My current guess is I should seperate this into 2 steps: Step 1: Build this control without swiping behavior. Just 2 buttons to go up a number or go down a number Step 2: Replace the buttons by handling mouse events. With my limited knowledge I think I would manage building a crappy control that does this, with very messy xaml and c# and lots of headaches when trying to apply styling and fancy state transitions, but I was hoping some xaml wizards could get me started with the basic approach?   Recently, I have upgraded from 13.04 to 13.10. First, I found problem in edge scrolling. After surfing in net about the problem I came to know that Ubuntu 13.10 has default two-finger scroll option enabled in Mouse and Touchpad setting. After unchecking two-finger scroll edge scrolling was enabled. In windows, I have used both feature. How can I use both two finger scrolling and edge scrolling in Ubuntu 13.10 permanently so that the setting won't reset even after I restart, shutdown or suspend my laptop.

• How do I make Nautilus windows stick for drag & drop?

  When you drag and drop a folder with nautilus, you must carefully set both windows on non overlapping areas of your screen, otherwise selecting one folder will bring the windows to the front, hiding the second one. On Windows, doing so will stick the explorer.exe windows to the back and let you drag and drop the folder. I suppose it detect a long click to decide whether or not bring the window to the front. Is that possible with Ubuntu? Now I know that Nautilus now has split panels by pressing F3, but that not handy. Most of the time, you open a folder, THEN decide to copy. With split panel, you must decide, THEN split the panel and go to the right folder.

  Hello I would like to be able to cancel a drag operation with the Escape key. The following did not work so far: calling stopDrag() on the component -- nothing happens calling DragManager.acceptDragDrop(null) -- nothing happens calling mx_internal function DragManager.endDrag() -- drag partly stops, the drag proxy image disappears but now the drop indicator shows at row 0, and also there's a null error when finally releasing the mouse Anybody else had any luck with this? • Vista Remote Desktop Mouse Drag Not Working

  I've been using Remote Desktop to connect from a Windows Vista machine to a Windows XP machine. Everything used to work fine, but a few weeks ago I found that I could not drag things with my mouse. I can click on things just fine, but I cannot move or resize windows or select text with the mouse. I did some experimenting, and it seems that the remote machine behaves as though it gets a mouse up event shortly after it gets the mouse down event, even though I am still holding the button down. On both machines, things work fine outside of Remote Desktop. I did reinstall the OS and software on my Windows Vista machine a couple of months ago, and that might have been about the same time that this problem appeared. I don't frequently use Remote Desktop, so I can't be sure. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  I'm running 14.04 on a Lenovo Y500. I want to get multi-touch gestures running, specifically a three-finger swipe to switch desktops. I would like to keep using the Unity interface, so I can't use touchegg, and I have a buttonless touchpad, so easystroke is not a good candidate either. Is there another third party program that will allow me to use buttonless three finger gestures, or some config hack that will accomplish the same thing?

  I'm trying to use drag-n-drop with an embedded SWT Browser, so that my application can drag hyperlinks from the Browser to another Control. I've been able to set up the destination to receive data from an external browser, but the internal does not seem to participate in the drag-n-drop. Any ideas? I would guess that I need something like a selection listener to track when something is grabbed in the browser, or some way to ask the browser what is currently selected, perhaps using javascript. • jQuery table drag and drop plugin within iFrame

  I am using the latest version (0.5) of Table Drag and Drop plugin (http://www.isocra.com/2008/02/table-drag-and-drop-jquery-plugin/) for jQuery. I have a problem when the table with the draggable rows is inside an iframe. When I drag a row and take it to the top, the page will not scroll (even after explicitly setting scrollAmount to a positive value). Scrolling works on the same table if it is not inside an iframe. Has anyone faced this problem? Has anyone figured out a solution for this?

  I'm trying to implement drag/drop support to a propertygrid in C# using VS2005 (.NET 2.0). The propertygrid can handle the dragenter etc. events, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get the griditem under the pointer during a drag event. The best I've been able to get so far is to use the selectedgriditem property to retrieve a custom propertydescriptor and set the value, but this requires a grid item to already be selected before starting the drag/drop operation. Has anyone had any luck with implementing this? Thanks :-)

• How can I drag and drop files into the Ubuntu One bookmark in Nautilus?

  I have a bookmark to my Ubuntu-One folder in the sidebar of Nautilus, it would seem logical that it would be possible to drag and drop files and folders on top of this bookmark and have the dropped items copied to the Ubuntu-One folder to be synced to the cloud. However this does not happen, I can drop files and folders onto the shortcuts underneath "Computer" in the Nautilus sidebar but not onto anything that is a bookmark. Is it possible to change this behaviour so that it is possible? Or failing that are there any possible workarounds to get a similar result?

  I need to create a drag and drop system in swing where an image of the thing being dragged is attached to the cursor during the drag. In theory this is achieveable with public Icon getVisualRepresentation(Transferable t) but there appears to be a long standing bug (here) that means this method is never called. I know I can do it by implementing my own DnD system with DragSource etc., but does anyone know of an easier workround that will get me what I need?

• WPF drag distance threshold

  I have a program with two WPF treeviews that allow dragging and dropping between the two. The problem is, it can be annoying to open / close items on the treeviews because moving the mouse just one pixel while holding the left mouse button triggers the drag / drop functionality. Is there some way to specify how far the mouse should move before it's considered a drag / drop? Thanks!
