  • Lucene (.NET) Document stucture and performance suggestions.

    Hello, I am indexing about 100M documents that consist of a few string identifiers and a hundred or so numaric terms.. I won't be doing range queries, so I haven't dugg too deep into Numaric Field but I'm not thinking its the right choose here. My problem is that the query performance degrades quickly when I start adding OR criteria to my query.. All my queries are on specific numaric terms.. So a document looks like StringField:[someString] and N DataField:[someNumber].. I then query it with something like DataField:((+1 +(2 3)) (+75 +(3 5 52)) (+99 +88 +(102 155 199))). Currently these queries take about 7 to 16 seconds to run on my laptop.. I would like to make sure thats really the best they can do.. I am open to suggestions on field structure and query structure :-). Thanks Josh PS: I have already read over all the other lucene performance discussions on here, and on the Lucene wiki and at lucid imiagination... I'm a bit further down the rabbit hole then that...

    Hello, I have form, where some fields are looks like rows, so I can add/delete them using JS. For example: Field with ID=1 (existing row) <input id="id[1]" type="text" name="id[1]" value="1" /> <input id="name[1]" type="text" name="name[1]" value="100" /> Field with ID=2 (existing row) <input id="name[2]" type="text" name="name[2]" value="200" /> <input id="name[2]" type="text" name="name[2]" value="200" /> new row created by default (to allow add one more row to existing rows) <input id="id[n0]" type="text" name="id[n0]" value="" /> <input id="name[n0]" type="text" name="name[n0]" value="" /> new row created by JS <input id="id[n1]" type="text" name="id[n1]" value="" /> <input id="name[n1]" type="text" name="name[n1]" value="" /> So than we will proceed form, we will know what rows to update and what to add (if index starts with "n" - new, if index is number - existent element). I tried subforms... but do I have to create subform for each field? If I use following code: $subForm = new Zend_Form_SubForm(); $subForm->addElement('Text', 'n0'); $this->addSubForm($subForm, 'pid'); $subForm = new Zend_Form_SubForm(); $subForm->addElement('Text', 'n0'); $this->addSubForm($subForm, 'name'); What is the best way for this? 1) Use subforms? 2) Extend Zend/Form/Decorator/ViewHelper.php to use names like name[nX]? 3) Other solutions?     With the Zend Framework, I am trying to build routes for a REST api on resources organized in the following pattern: http://example.org/users/ http://example.org/users/234 http://example.org/users/234/items http://example.org/users/234/items/34 How do I set up this with Zend_Rest_Route? Here is how I have setup the route for the users resource (users/:id) in my bootstrap.php file: $this->bootstrap('frontController'); $frontController = Zend_Controller_Front::getInstance(); $restRoute = new Zend_Rest_Route($frontController); $frontController->getRouter()->addRoute('default', $restRoute); [As far as I understand, this is a catch all route so users/324/items/34 would results in parameters set as id=324 and items=34 and everything would be mapped to the Users (front module) Model. From there I guess I could just test for the items parameter and retrieve the item #34 for user #324 on a get request.]<=== I just checked it and it doesn't seems to work like that: Acessing /users/234/items/43 and var_dump($this->_getAllParams()); in the get action of the rest controller results in the following output: array(4) { ["controller"]=> string(5) "users" ["action"]=> string(3) "get" [2]=> string(5) "items" ["module"]=> string(7) "default"] } Somehow both ids got lost... Anyone?

    Hello, I am having an incredibly difficult time to decorate a Zend form the way I need to. This is the HTML structure I am in need of: <table> <thead><tr><th>one</th><th>two</th><th>three</th><th>four</th></thead> <tbody> <tr> <td><input type='checkbox' id='something'/></td> <td><img src='src'/></td> <td><input type='text' id='something'/></td> <td><input type='radio' group='justonegroup'/></td> </tr> <tr> <td><input type='checkbox' id='something'/></td> <td><img src='src'/></td> <td><input type='text' id='something'/></td> <td><input type='radio' group='justonegroup'/></td> </tr> </tbody> </table> The number of rows in the body is determined by my looping structure inside my form class. All ids will be unique of course. All radio buttons in the form belongs to one group. My issue really is that I am unsure how to create and then style the object Zend_Form_Element_MultiCheckbox and Zend_Form_Element_Radio inside my table. Where/how would I apply the appropriate decoraters to the checkboxes and radio buttons to have a form structure like above?     Hi. I've got a very annoying problem with my Zend studio. I have a zend framework project I am working on. The actual zend framework code is inside my project (in library folder) and then ZS seems to reference to its own version of zend framework. As the result, I get 2 versions of the same function/class in my intellisense which is annoying to say the least. Today I had the last drop of patience with zend studio when I showed 4 copies of the same class (imagine what's its like looking at a large namespace times 4!). So, how do I remove all references inside ZS to its own version of ZF? Thanks!

    I’ve playing around with Lucene.NET and trying to get a feeling of what was required to develop and implement a full business application using it. As you would imagine, many things are required for you to implement a robust solution for indexing content and searching it afterwards. Lucene is a great and robust solution for indexing content. It offers fast and performance enhanced search engine library available in Java and .NET. You will want to use this library in many particular scenarios: In Windows Azure, to support Full Text Search (a functionality not currently supported by SQL Azure) When storing files outside or not managed by your database (like in large document storage solutions that uses File System) When Full Text Search is not really what you need Lucene is more than a Full Text Search solution. It has several analyzers that let you process and search content in different ways (decomposing sentences, deriving words, removing articles, etc.). When deciding to implement indexing using Lucene, you will need to take into account the following: How content is to be indexed by Lucene and when. Using a service that runs after a specific interval Immediately when content changes When content is to available for searching / Availability of indexed content (as in real time content search) Immediately when content changes = near real time searching After a few minutes.. Ease of maintainability and development Some Technical Concerns.. When indexing content, indexes are locked for writing operations by the Index Writer. This means that Lucene is best designed to index content using single writer approach. When searching, Index Readers take a snapshot of indexes. This has the following implications: Setting up an index reader is a costly task. Your are not supposed to create one for each query or search. A good practice is to create readers and reuse them for several searches. The latter means that even when the content gets updated, you wont be able to see the changes. You will need to recycle the reader. In the second part of this post we will review some alternatives and design considerations.

    Say my requirement is "search for all users by name, who are over 18" If i were using SQL, i might write something like: Select * from [Users] Where ([firstname] like '%' + @searchTerm + '%' OR [lastname] like '%' + @searchTerm + '%') AND [age] >= 18 However, im having difficulty translating this into lucene.net. This is what i have so far: var parser = new MultiFieldQueryParser({ "firstname", "lastname"}, new StandardAnalyser()); var luceneQuery = parser.Parse(searchterm) var query = FullTextSession.CreateFullTextQuery(luceneQuery, typeof(User)); var results = query.List<User>(); How do i add in the "where age = 18" bit? I've heard about .SetFilter(), but this only accepts LuceneQueries, and not IQueries. If SetFilter is the right thing to use, how do I make the appropriate filter? If not, what do I use and how do i do it? Thanks! P.S. This is a vastly simplified version of what I'm trying to do for clarity, my WHERE clause is actually a lot more complicated than shown here. In reality i need to check if ids exist in subqueries and check a number of unindexed properties. Any solutions given need to support this. Thanks

Is there any way to do this as one select? Or should I perform 3 selects and combine the results (alot more overhead?)? P.S. The parameter $like that is past is sanitized so don't need to wory about user input in the code above!

  • Lucene raise document score if sibling entity matches query

    I have the following design situation. I use hibernate search (lucene in the back). Tha application manages ITEMs which have title, description and tags. These are full text indexed. On the other hand, we have COLLECTION of ITEMs. The user can create a COLLECTION and add as many ITEMs as she wants. ITEMs can also belong to many COLLECTIONs. I have a boosted query so that search terms that appear in the tags are more important than in the title, and lastly in the description. But I need an additional matching criteria: for a given ITEM, it whould rank better if other documents in some COLLECTION where the ITEM belongs, also match the query. This is like to say: the title/tags/description of "fellow" items (i.e. items in some shared collection) make the item rank better. I was thinking that adding an ITEM to a COLLECTION would add something like "extra tags" to every other ITEM in the collection, being these extra tags the elements to match in the added ITEM. I feel a more clever solution lucene-wise should exists. Any ideas/pointers are welcome. Thanks.

  • Zend Studio Debugger returns Application Error

    When I run debug for my public/index.php I got an application error as output. I've seen that it occurs at this line: foreach($feed->findFeedEntries($entriesLimit) as $entry) If I put a breakpoint before this, all works as expected, I mean, the error is after the line above. If I remove findFeedEntries() method, I can perform debugging without erros.   • How can I search in transcluded categories?

    I want to add functionality to a MediaWiki wiki to search in specific categories: Platform 1 Platform 2 etc. So I created a template which, based on a certain field, assigns pages to those categories. The template was already included on most of these pages. So now most pages are in either: Category:Platform 1 or Category:Platform 2 Then I thought I just need to add incategory to the search and I'm done, as described on the Wikipedia page. But then I reread it and to my horror discovered: incategory: – using the incategory: parameter returns pages in a given category (as long as the pages are directly categorized, and not transcluded through templates). Eeeek! Is there any other way to search even in transcluded templates? Or any other way of resolving this?

    Problems: One of my colleague is having a wired issue today with Search Service Application in SharePoint2010.After he created the Search Service Application, he could not browse to the Search Administration (http://ybbest:5555/searchadministration.aspx?appid=6508b5cc-e19a-4bdc-89b3-05d984999e3c) ,he got 404 page not found every time he browse to the page. Analysis After some basic trouble-shooting, it turns out we can browse to any other page in the search application ,e.g. Manage Content Sources(/_admin/search/listcontentsources.aspx) or Manage Crawl Rules(/_admin/search/managecrawlrules.aspx).After some more research , we think some of the web parts in the Search Administration page might cause the problem. Solution You need to activate a hidden feature using #Enable-SPFeature SearchAdminWebParts -url <central admin URL> Enable-SPFeature SearchAdminWebParts -url http://ybbest:5555 If the feature is already enabled, you need to disable the feature first and then enable it. How can I do a search that orders results by CreationDate? All the documentation I see is for old Lucene versions that use now-deprecated APIs.

  • Unable to Access Zend Server 5 CE after installation

    I have previously installed WAMP on my windows, and now I am trying to install Zend Server 5 CE 5.3.1 Win x86. During the installation of Zend Server, there is a step asking about: web server port : 80 zend server interface port : 10081 I kept to the default. After the installation, I tried to access http://localhost,and is able to see zend test page. But I am unable to access http://localhost:10081/ZendServer, it was stated as page not found. Is it a conflict of my WAMP and the Zend Server? I remembered stopping the apache for WAMP, before trying to access ZS. Could anyone please advise me how to fix it? Thank you.

  • Is Zend Framework a total waste of my time?

    Ok, I'm about 50% done with the "30 minute" quickstart guide from Zend. I must be missing something, because this seems like a total waste of time. The point of this quickguide is to create a guestbook, something I could do in 5 minutes with regular naked non-framework php. Here's my path to zend framework: c:/program files/wamp/www/_zend/ Here's my path to my quickstart project: c:/program files/wamp/www/_zend/bin/quickstart/ I have a number of questions at this point: http://framework.zend.com/docs/quickstart/create-a-model-and-database-table 1: I'm running the command line to run my database loading script. I get an error stating the it can't find the Zend/AutoLoader.php becuase my path to the zend library is wrong. I followed all of the steps. I defined the path to my zend library in the main config file, but for some reason, its defined again in my db loader. In all of these scripts that they have me load, it points the relative path to the zend library as being /../library Problem is, there's nothing in that folder. To get to my actual zend folder, you'd need to be (relatively) /../../../../library Which brings me to my 2nd question: 2: Where the #$#$ is the main Zend files supposed to be? The install directions were basically "put it wherever you want", when the real answer (after a bunch of errors and wasted time was) was "put it somewhere so that its really easy to type the full path a thousand times in command line" and "it also better be in a runnable place on your webserver since its going to create your quickstart application in a subdirectory within zend". Which brings us to the third question 3: Am I supposed to have this libary in both the parent core Zend (wamp/_zend/library) AND my application (quickstart/library)? 4: If that is the case, it seems like a ton of wasted files to be uploading. I'd like to use Zend to create products that my customers will download. 5 megs of overhead seems like a bit much. Zend claims you can use these library components separately, but it looks to me like I'm going to have to upload them every time. Which leads to the next question: 5: It appears that perhaps Zend is more for a single application that is not supposed to be distributed. Is this not the case? 6: According to their default file structure everything but my /public folder would be above public_html on my server if I wanted this to rest on my TLD. I would need to rename every reference of /public/ to /public_html/, or am I missing something else?

  • Attempting to set up xampp and zend server on the same machine

    I am attempting to set up the zend server and xampp on the same machine but I am running into problems. I came across documentation on the zend site that said you cannot do this. However the folks over at apachefriends said you can. I have since discovered that I can run some of the zendframework examples within xampp by downloading the zendframework2 library and the skeleton app from git and I am doing this right now. However, I would like to know how to set them both up without having any conflicts both for the apache2 server and phpmyadmin. (One of the frustrating things is trying to load phpmyadmin in the deployment dialog by using the zpk tool in Zend). What I did in trying to set up both servers on windows 7 is as follows: First I have tried to set up the httpd conf files separately for each server, xampp running on port 8082 , and zend running on port 8088. At the time xampp would work, but zend server would not. This is after setting up the virtual host files separately for each server. Question 1: Where are the zend server error logs? Earlier, I was able to get both of them running configuring the xampp server httpd-conf file alone, however, I experienced problems with phpmyadmin even after configuring phpmyadmin on xampp to work on a different port other than 3306. Second question here: how to set up the two mysql phpmyadmin instances so they do not conflict with each other? I also have the java sdk running on this machine with tomcat and apache and I have no conflicts- too bad this is not the case for zend server and xampp Thanks umbre gachoong

  • Installing Apache Lucene for LAMP server

    I have Ubuntu running for LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) server. To provide better search capability one of my friend recommended to install "Apache Lucene". While reading about it I came to know that "Apache Lucene" required tomcat and java to run. Please let me know if it be feasible to have it or there are other better alternates for LAMP stack. I am looking for some proven solution. Thanks :)
