• IIS7, different ports for websites but no portnumber in the browser

  I have a windows server 2008 with IIS7 with 4 websites. In DNS I have 4 different URLs which point to the IP of the server. I configured each web site with the site bindings: website1: hostname: url1, port: 80, IP-Adresse: the adress of the server website2: hostname: url2, port: 80, IP-Adresse: the adress of the server The result is, that from the client, I can browse with all the 4 URLs to the specified web sites and everything is fine. Then I changed in IIS the port of the websites, so that website1 now uses port 8080, website2 uses port 8081, and so on. Now I have to use the browser with the url and the portnumber (like URL:8080). Is there a possibility, to configured the websites with different portnumbers but not to use the portnumbers in the browser?

• Automator apps with different icons that persist upon saving

  Automator allows to save a workflow as an application bundle. It uses an Automator specific icon for doing this. I want to change this icon (using different icons for different workflows). I can do this by going into the application bundle and change the icon with Icon Composer. The disadvantage of this solution is that if I open the application bundle in Automator and save it, it uses the default icon again. Is there a way to change the icon for good?

  If you ping google.com from different countries you will get replies from local google servers. How does that work? Can a DNS record have multiple A addresses? Could someone point me to the technology they use to do that? Update. OK, so Google's DNS server gives out a different IP based on the location. But, as Alexandre Jasmin pointed out, how do they track the location? Surely their DNS won't ever see your IP address. Is the server querying Google's DNS guaranteed to be from the location it represents?

  Hello, I'm trying to get 2 separate django projects running on the same apache server with mod_wsgi that are also under the same domain but different urls. Like www.example.com/site1/ and www.example.com/site2 What I'm trying to do is something like... <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName www.example.com <location "/site1/"> DocumentRoot "/var/www/html/site1" WSGIScriptAlias / /var/www/html/site1/django.wsgi </location> <location "/site2/"> DocumentRoot "/var/www/html/site2" WSGIScriptAlias / /var/www/html/site2/django.wsgi </location> </VirtualHost> The closes thing I've seen is this http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/howto/deployment/modpython/ but "mysite" is different for both of these cases and they're using mod_python instead of mod_wsgi. Any help with this would be great thanks!

• Run as different user on a shortcut

  How do I do this in Windows 7? On Windows XP I had the ability to mark a shortcut as being run by a different user, so that every time I ran it it would prompt me for a username/password. This let me have two shortcuts for things like SQL Server Management Studio, one for my normal account and one for my Domain Admins account which has access to production servers. I can get to the 'Run as different user' option with Shift+right-click, but I can't see an option anywhere that would let me mark the shortcut as doing this every time.

  I have a Django website where some of the URLs need to be served over HTTPS and some over a normal connection. It's running on Apache and using WSGI. • Netinstalling CentOS if the gateway is in a different subnet

  I have a KVM host (A) running a virtual machine (B). They each have their own external IP address and the networking is setup using bridging between eth0 and br0 on A. B uses eth0, with A being the gateway. The problem is that the two external IP addresses are on different subnets (different /8s in fact) so by default, B claims it cannot reach A (Network Unreachable). I can resolve this by adding a static route on B: echo "any host gateway_ip dev eth0" > /etc/sysconfig/static-routes Modifying /etc/init.d/networking to reload the gateway after applying static routes (I only added the final line before fi): if [ -f /etc/sysconfig/static-routes ]; then grep "^any" /etc/sysconfig/static-routes | while read ignore args ; do /sbin/route add -$args done route add default gw "${GATEWAY}" fi If I then restart networking, it comes online. How can I do this (or work around it some other way) prior to the system being installed, ideally inside an Anaconda kickstart file?

• My browsers won't use my full screen resolution, IE different

  My screen resolution is actually 3200x1800, but when I'm in a browser it acts like I have a smaller resolution. How do I get my browsers to use my full resolution? On Chrome it's using 1280x720, and on IE it's using 1600x900. According to whatismyscreenresolution.com, which is showing different values for different browsers. I took a screenshot of them and verified that my resolution is 3200x1800 as that is the pixels in the bitmap. I'm on a laptop with no monitor plugged in. My zoom in both browsers is at 100%. I've tried zooming out below 100% but then the text is unreadable and pixellated. I've tried restarting. Windows 8.1. I've tried the chrome extension OptiZoom and it does nothing. document.body.clientWidth gives 1247, and I want it to give 3200.

• Inconsistent DNS report results on different websites

  I am checking my server dns setting on different websites. intodns,dnssy,dnscog, but on all the websites i get different results. Some say my mail server settings are not good, some say i have no A records for my NS records. Only on dnssy everything looks to be ok. Should i just trust the website with the best results, or what should i do? How does this sort of inconsistency occur in the first place. I am new to servers and dns, and this makes it very misleading.

  Hi, I used Clonezilla to create and restore images from a master computer to other workstations with the same specs. But the problem now is there are new computers whose hardware specs are different than the ones I maintained (mostly the videocard is different). Is it possible to create a customize Windows XP installer using Nlite and integrate all potential videocard and motherboard drivers ? If I then used this NLite ISO to install to a master computer which i will later clone and restore the image to other workstations, will windows xp still pick up the correct driver set? During XP installation, does the installer transfers all the drivers to the computer's harddisk? Thanks! Ryan

  Is there a way to batch export different columns to different csv files in excel on an OSX, I'm thinking something along the lines of possibly automator, applescript or bash. I've had a look play around with automator and so far no look. The best I have accomplished export the whole sheet, then use sed to strip out what I don't need, however this is terribly inefficient.   Is it possible to have different background colors in vim (ie. one light, one dark) when dealing with files with multiple filetypes (ie. :set ft=html.php)? In PHP code with HTML embedded, it can be difficult to see one single PHP statement amongst dozens of HTML lines, see below. I'll settle for anything, be it different bg color, a marker in the margin, a second left margin (one vim plugin does this for marks), maybe highlighting the <?php tag for example (although that's less than ideal) EDIT: I don't think this is possible at the syntax level as the syntax appears to use a limited number of elements (String, Function, Identifier...). This is no doubt to allow for the easy integration with colorschemes. SyntaxAttr is a good plugin to demonstrate this. Put it over any part of the code and it will tell you what syntax group it belongs to.

• Outlook 2010 - Export of an Exchange OST to PST creates files with different sizes each time

  This is a most weird issue. I have a couple of exchange OST mailboxes, and just for security, I am exporting them using File / Import / Export to a file / Export to PST file. If I run the export consecutively, it always creates files with different file sizes, WITH NO ERROR OR WARNING that something went wrong. The files should be of the same size as you run it right after the previous backup finished. I found out that if the filesize is substantially lower, then a reboot and back up can fix this up. What's your insight into this problem? What could cause that the files have different sizes and what could have caused that there is no warning? I suspected some Windows Search issue as sometimes the backup fails with a dialog error stating that Windows Search terminated the export.

  I am trying to set up 2 virtual host entries in apache but I'm not sure how to accomplish what I want to do. I have two domain names, both pointing to the same IP Address. I need the DirectoryIndex to be different, which is pretty much the only difference in the entries. I have the following set up: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName firstdomain.com ServerAdmin [email protected] DocumentRoot "/srv/www" DirectoryIndex /portals/site/index.html </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName seconddomain.com ServerAdmin [email protected] DocumentRoot "/srv/www" DirectoryIndex /portals/site/index_fr.html </VirtualHost> Not sure what I need to do differently but the second entry doesn't work. The only real difference is I need the second domain to point to a different DirectoryIndex. If there is a better way to accomplish this, your help would be appreciated.

  I am trying to set up a computer with multiple users each with different preferred keyboard layouts. The biggest sticking point right now is allowing each to log in comfortably. GDM used to offer a way to choose keyboard layout, but I can't discover how to set this up in GDM3. All the solutions I found when Googling this problem suggest changing the keyboard layout in xorg.conf, but that only sets a different single layout and still does not seem to allow me to change the layout between multiple choices. How can I allow multiple layouts when logging in?

  I'm having troubles using SSL for 2 different websites on my IIS 7 server. Please see my setup below: website1: my.corporate.portal.com SSL certificate for website1: *.corporate.portal.com https/443 binded to my.corporate.portal.com website2: client.portal.com SSL certificate issued for: client.portal.com When I try to bind https in IIS7 with the client's certificate, I don't have an option to put host name(grayed out) and as soon as I select 'client.portal.com' cert, I'm getting the following error in IIS: At least one other site is using the same HTTPS binding and the binding is configured with a different certificate. Are you sure that you want to reuse this HTTPS binding and reassign the other site or sites to use the new certificate? If I click 'yes' my.corporate.portal.com website stops using the proper SSL cert. Could you suggest something?

  Hi everybody, not sure if what I want is possible so I´d appreciate any pointers. I have full control over the infrastructure (DNS and servers) Currently I receive mails for domain.tld. MX record for domain.tld is gw.domain.tld. gw then does some spam and virus checking and forwards the mails to the internal exchange server. GW is a Proxmox Mail Gateway Box (Free license) Now what I want is to distribute mails for different recipients to other mail servers. Basicly I only want [email protected] and [email protected] to go to the exchange as before, but all others go to a different mail server (based on linux). Any idea how I could achieve this?

• Windows Server 2008 R2 bare metal restore to different hardware

  Scenario: I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 installation whose main disk drive is now 7 years old and showing signs of age. For the last couple of months it's been displaying increased errors and requirements to run checkdisk. I have successfully created a bare metal restore (BMR) image on a separate data drive on the server, which can be seen from the Windows Recovery console; I tested it by booting to and using the Windows Server installation DVD's recovery utilities. The BMR image includes the system drive with boot partition, system state, and the D:\ drive of the server, which is where I have followed the practice of installing any program that does not require a C:\ installation path. Therefore, the BMR includes both the C:\ and D:\ drives, system state and boot partition. The C:\ drive is a 7-year old Seagate 160GB. The D:\ drive is a rather newer 120GB Western Digital. I have purchased a 128GB solid state Samsung 830 that I want to restore these partitions to, using the BMR. Questions: In the above-referenced article, Microsoft seems to be indicating that I am only able to restore to like-kind hardware, which doesn't help at all and is difficult to believe. Is this really true? I've cleaned these drives up and minimized the size of partition they require. C:\ will need about a 70GB partition, and the data on D:\ will need about 50GB. Will Windows Server backup allow me to restore the BMR to newly-created partitions on the SSD, discarding extra space? I don't need a "how-to": I just need an "is it possible".   I'm having a problem with my machine. A site that I used to be able to access is no longer being found. After running nslookup, I notice that about 9 times out of 10 it returns a specific IP which times out if I ping it, but about 1 in 10 times it returns a different IP which works when I ping it. I've even tried adding an option parameter into nslookup to hit different DNS servers (such as Google's public DNS) and am getting the same result. Any idea what would cause the IP returned by DNS lookup to change back and forth like that?

Lets assume two Wireless Access Points AP1 & AP2 with these conditions 1. both in the same 802.11 standard 2. same channel 3. using different SSIDs (just like in adjacent apartment houses). In this case, do these two Access points (and the clients associated to them) coordinate via CSMA/CA ? ie., if one of the AP's or a client station is about to transmit, does it wait & observe the other AP's & its clients' transmission before sending the frame in air ? Also, do the clients associated with these different APs coordinate via CSMA/CA ?

• Saving Proxy Settings from different networks

  I go to different clients and they all have their networks with different proxy settings. So I'm always having to change the proxy settings and saving the info in a notebook, and it becomes a pain after a while. So, any good way to save all those proxies and have them recognize the network I'm on and load up? Currently I maintain two: one in IE for clients, and none in Firefox for when I'm at home. And I think the last network I was on asked me to save the proxy and I think it went to system settings. But I don't know much about networking.
