    I'm (we're) in New York, a week of vacation. (Growing list of photos can be found here.) A week in Brooklyn, and around, flea markets, book stores, museums, music. One of several highlights will be seeing "Death of a Salesman" with Philip Seymour Hoffman in the main role, tomorrow. However, mentally, at least partly, I'm in Moscow, at JavaOne Moscow, 17 & 18 April. http://www.oracle.com/javaone/ru-en/index.html I'm doing two items there, thankfully on the first day, I always think the sooner the better: Tuesday 12:30 - 13:15 -- Unlocking the Java EE 6 Platform (in the Keynote Hall) Tuesday 16:30 - 18:15 -- Rapid Corporate Desktop Development (in HOL Room) Several speakers I'm looking forward to seeing there include Bert Ertman who will be talking about Spring/Java EE 6 migration, Dalibor Topic talking about Lambda expressions in JDK 8, Arun Gupta with his Java EE 6 HOL (appears to be a partial overlap with my session), and various others. And I hope I will make it to Angela Caicedo's HOL on JavaFX. The whole program, which is available via the link above, indicates that many (dare I say "most"?) of the sessions will be using NetBeans in one way or another. Looks like it will be a great conference.

  • How to Install WebLogic 12c ZIP on Linux

    I knew that WebLogic had this small ZIP distribution, of only 184M, but what I didn't know was that it is so easy to install it on Linux machines, specially for development purposes, that I thought I had to blog about it. You may want to check this blog, where I found the missing part on this how to, but I'm blogging this again because I wanted to put it in a simpler way, straight to the point. And if you are looking for a how to for Mac, check Arun Gupta's post.  So, here's the step-by-step: 1 - Download the ZIP distribution (don't worry if your system is x86_64)Don't forget to accept the OTN Free Developer License Agreement! 2 - Choose where to install your WebLogic server and your domain, and set as your MW_HOME environment variableI will use /opt/middleware/weblogic for this how to export MW_HOME=/opt/middleware/weblogicMake sure this path exists in your system. 'mydomains' will be used to keep your WebLogic domain. mkdir -p $MW_HOME/mydomain 3 - If you don't have your JAVA_HOME environment variable still configured, do it. Point it to where your JDK is installed. export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/default-java 4 - Unzip the downloaded file into MW_HOME unzip wls1211_dev.zip -d $MW_HOME 5 - Go to that directory and run configure.sh cd $MW_HOME ./configure.sh 6 - Call the setEnvs.sh script . $MW_HOME/wlserver/server/bin/setWLSEnv.sh7 - Create your development domain. It will ask you for username and password.   • ArrayCollection versus Vector Objects in FLEX

  • C++11 support in GNU automake

    I'm trying to port buildsystem of my project to GNU autotools. The code need to be compiled with -std=c++11 or -std=c++0x flag. I want my configure script to check if compiler supports C++11 or not. I tried adding AX_CHECK_COMPILE_FLAG([-std=c++0x], [CXXFLAGS="$CXXFLAGS -std=c++0x"]) to configure.ac file but configure fails with this error: ... ./configure: line 2732: syntax error near unexpected token `-std=c++0x,' ./configure: line 2732: `AX_CHECK_COMPILE_FLAG(-std=c++0x, CXXFLAGS="$CXXFLAGS -std=c++0x")'

    I'm attempting to use the new Graph API Facebook recently released, but I can't seem to get it to work correctly. I've gone through the steps, and after the /authorize call, I receive an access_token: access_token=109002049121898|nhKwSTJVPbUZ5JYyIH3opCBQMf8. When I attempt to use that token I get: { "error": { "type": "QueryParseException", "message": "An active access token must be used to query information about the current user." } } I'm stumped as too why... -AC

    Would it be possible to integrate Python (and/or Perl) and Ruby with some degree of transparency? I've looked at http://www.goto.info.waseda.ac.jp/~fukusima/ruby/python/doc/ and http://code.google.com/p/ruby-perl/ , but they both seem rather outdated. Perhaps this is not an appropriate approach, but would it be possible to generate a Ruby interface for Python's C API?

    I am using festival TTS c++ API in my program.I have downloaded all files from http://www.cstr.ed.ac.uk/downloads/festival/2.0.95/ and install festival and speech_tools successfully on my UBUNTU 10.04 now when compile my c++ programme gcc gives error: g++ -L/usr/lib -L/home/peeyush/Desktop/festival/src/lib -L/home/peeyush/Desktop/speech_tools/lib -o"peeyush" ./src/peeyush.o -llibeststring.a -llibestbase.a -llibestools.a -llibFestival.a /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -llibeststring.a collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [peeyush] Error 1 so please help me to sort out this error. -Thanks Peeyush Chandel(INDIA)

    There's a line A-B and C at the center between A and B. It forms a circle as in the figure. If we assume A-B line as a diameter of the circle and then C is it's center. My problem is I have no idea how to draw another three lines (in blue) each 45 degree away from AC or AB.     All, I have a main window that contains two custom objects (AnimatedCharacter). These objects are nothing but images. These images might contain transparent portions. One of these objects slightly overlaps the other object. The hit test in the second function (CheckSubHitItems) never gets called. There are definitely items (DependencyObjects of the type AnimatedCharacter) in the hitResultSub, but no matter what, the second hit test will not fire. I can walk the for loop fine, but when that line is hit, I get the following console statement. Step into: Stepping over non-user code 'System.MulticastDelegate.CtorClosed' No exceptions are thrown. Any help is appreciated.

  • Regex with all optional parts but at least one required

    I need to write a regex that matches strings like "abc", "ab", "ac", "bc", "a", "b", "c". Order is important and it shouldn't match multiple appearances of the same part. a?b?c? almost does the trick. Except it matches empty strings too. Is there any way to prevent it from matching empty strings or maybe a different way to write a regex for the task.

    Python's itertools module provides a lots of goodies with respect to processing an iterable/iterator by use of generators. For example, permutations(range(3)) --> 012 021 102 120 201 210 combinations('ABCD', 2) --> AB AC AD BC BD CD [list(g) for k, g in groupby('AAAABBBCCD')] --> AAAA BBB CC D What are the equivalent in Ruby? By equivalent, I mean fast and memory efficient (Python's itertools module is written in C).
