    My internal Windows 2008 AD network is 172.20.xxx.xxx My Apple Wireless base stations only allows DHCP 172.16.xxx.xxx Private IP address ranges: 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255 The problem: The internet works from my IPad that has a 172.16.xxx.xxx address, but I can't access (browse) my tools server that is 172.20.xxx.xxx that host my Filemaker database. Is it possible to add 172.16.xxx.xxx range somewhere in DHCP or DNS on my Windows domain server so I can access tools? Or is there another way to make this connection work? Thanks

  • Cross platform KVM over ethernet

    I'm not sure if this exists, but this is what I'd like to do. I have a laptop and a desktop that I work on about equally. The laptop runs windows 7 and the desktop is on kubuntu 10.04. What I want to be able to do is be able to drag my mouse accross my screen and have it act like my laptop is a second monitor. Whereby I can use my desktop mouse, drag it say to the left off of my desktop monitor, and use it on my laptop (I don't care about the keyboard, just the mouse). Is that possible? Are there any other solutions that exist? I'd prefer not to have a physical kvm switch.

  • Getting a Cross-Section from Two CSV Files

    I have two CSV files that I am working with. One is massive, with about 200,000 rows. The other is much smaller, having about 12,000 rows. Both fit the same format of names, and email addresses (everything is legit here, no worries). Basically I'm trying to get only a subset of the second list by removing all values that presently exist in the larger file. So, List A has ~200k rows, and List B has ~12k. These lists overlap a bit, and I'd like to remove all entries from List B if they also exist in List A, leaving me with new and unique values only in List B. I've got a few tooks at my disposal that I can use. Open Office is loaded on this machine, along with MySQL (queries are alright). What's the easiest way to create a third CSV with the intersection of data?

  • Cross-platform centralized desktop password manager

    I have been using KeePass as a desktop password manager on Windows for many years. Love it! However, I am now needing to work on different platforms much of my day (Windows 7, Windows XP, Mac OS X, Ubuntu, and OpenSUSE.) I'm looking for a password manager I can share across all these platforms. My ideal solution would: Run natively (not in a virtual machine) on all platforms. Store the "official" copy of the password data on a local network so I can get to it from any and all machines. It is OK if it locks (or becomes read-only) when one client is accessing it. Keep a local cached copy (read-only is fine) so I can still get to my passwords when disconnected from the network. Does any such beast exist?

  • Looped jQuery slideshow with smooth cross-fades

    I'm trying to do a simple rotating image on the home page. Under the hood I'm reading a directory and then populating urls for the images into an array. What I want to do is cross-fade the images. If it was just a matter of showing the next one, it's easy, but since I need to cross-fade, it's a bit harder. I think what I want to do is do the fades by calling animate() on the opacity value of the <img> tag, and in between swapping out the css background-image property of the enclosing <div>. But the results are not that great. I've used tools for more full featured slideshows, but I don't want the overhead of adding a plugin if I can avoid it, and a simple crossfade seems like it should be easier.     Hi. I'm looking for cross-platform scripting (language) for windows, Linux, MacOS X. I'm tired of .bat / bash . I would like to do things like for example ,,lock workstation'' at automatic login (I had this in X-Window but the solution was pretty ugly; now, I would like that on MS Windows and not that ugly :-) ). Generally: automate tasks. Or would I be better off with Windows Scripting Host? PowerShell also comes to mind, but that's seems to Windows-only for my taste. Can languages like Python, Ruby, (Java?) interact (elegantly? sensibly?) with WSH? Also things like DBUS, DCOM, etc come to mind as part of the picture. Currently I use a mixture of Java, .bat, bash, Ruby, Scala; some VBA for Excel. Which sometimes gets pretty ugly. I would like a cross-platform general solution with/using ,,native'' parts close to OS-specifics. Like e.g. Ruby driving some Windows-specific stuff (just a guess). What do You use? TIA

  • Calling ASP.NET Web API using JQuery ajax - cross site scripting issue

    I have a Web API which I am calling using the JQuery ajax function. When I test the service directly (using the Chrome RESTEasy extension) it works fine, however when I call it using the JQuery ajax function I get an error. I'm calling it on port 81: $.ajax({ url: "http://127.0.0.1:81/api/people", data: JSON.stringify(personToCreate), type: "POST", contentType: "application/json;charset=utf-8", statusCode: { 201: function (newPerson) { callback(newPerson); } }, success: function (newPerson) { alert("New person created with an Id of " + newPerson.Id); }, error: function (jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown) { alert('Error. '+textStatus+'. '+errorThrown); } }); ...but when I trace it using FireBug Lite the response comes from port 82: {"Message":"No HTTP resource was found that matches the request URI 'http://127.0.0.1:82/api/people'.","MessageDetail":"No action was found on the controller 'People' that matches the request."} I think the error is, effectively, due to cross-site scripting being blocked, but I'm not actually cross-site scripting, if you see what I mean. Has anyone else come across this and been able to fix it? Edit: Routing config (global.asax.vb) is: RouteTable.Routes.MapHttpRoute(name:="DefaultApi", routeTemplate:="api/{controller}/{id}", defaults:=New With {Key .id = System.Web.Http.RouteParameter.Optional}) Controller: Public Function PostValue(ByVal departmentid As Integer, ByVal emailaddress As String, ByVal firstname As String, ByVal lastname As String) As Guid Dim context As New WSMModelDataContext Dim bllPeople As New PeopleBLL(context) Return bllPeople.Create(firstname, lastname, emailaddress, departmentid) End Function When I debug it, it doesn't get as far as running the controller, although when calling it through RESTEasy it routes correctly and the controller executes successfully. The only difference seemes to be that wen called through RESTEasy it is (correctly) using http://127.0.0.1:81 but for some reason when called via JQuery/ajax it seems to be using http://127.0.0.1:82.

    Hoping someone can explain what is probably fairly obvious...but confuses me. Imagine two users with admin privileges on our server (Mac OS X Server 10.5). Call them joe & bob. both users are members of these groups: Staff Group ID: 20 Workgroup Group ID: 1025 Shared folder "devfolder" has sharing set as so: POSIX: Owner: joe read & write Group: admin read & write Other no access ACL: Workgroup Allow Read & write Question is why when looking at same folder does the ownership appear to change depending on who's doing the looking?!?     Let's say I have a table with usernames: Id | Name ----------- 1 | Bobby 20 | Bob 90 | Bob 100 | Joe-Bob 630 | Bobberino 820 | Bob Junior I want to return a list of n matches on name for 'Bob' where the resulting set first contains exact matches followed by similar matches. I thought something like this might work SELECT TOP 4 a.* FROM ( SELECT * from Usernames WHERE Name = 'Bob' UNION SELECT * from Usernames WHERE Name LIKE '%Bob%' ) AS a but there are two problems: It's an inefficient query since the sub-select could return many rows (looking at the execution plan shows a join happening before top) (Almost) more importantly, the exact match(es) will not appear first in the results since the resulting set appears to be ordered by primary key. I am looking for a query that will return (for TOP 4) Id | Name --------- 20 | Bob 90 | Bob (and then 2 results from the LIKE query, e.g. 1 Bobby and 100 Joe-Bob) Is this possible in a single query?

    I realized that IE8 does not allow links from cross domains to be displayed in IFrame. It seems like there are only two Header options that Microsoft allows to modify. X-FRAME-OPTIONS : "DENY" (This does not display any IFrame content ) X-FRAME-OPTIONS : "SAMEORIGIN" (Displays content from the same domain) Is there a work around to allow content from other domains to be displayed?     Hi Folks, I know about ajax cross-domain policy. So I can't just call "http://www.google.com" over a ajax HTTP request and display the results somewhere on my site. I tried it with dataType "jsonp", that actually would work, but I get a syntax error (obviously because the received data is not json formated) Is there any other possiblity to receive/display data from a foreign domain ? iFrames follow the same policy?
