• Passenger: RailsBaseURI case sensitive?

  I used Passenger to deploy a RoR app to a sub URI on my domain. The problem I'm facing is that the sub URI seems to be case sensitive. Navigating to http://mydomain.com/RailsApp resolves fine. However, if I go to http://mydomain.com/railsapp, http://mydomain.com/railsApp, or any other variation, I get a 404 error. How can these requests using different casings get resolved correctly? Here is my Apache configuration file: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName mydomain.com ServerAlias www.mydomain.com DocumentRoot /www/mydomain/public <Directory "/www/mydomain/public"> RailsEnv "production" Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> RailsBaseURI /RailsApp <Directory "/www/RailsApp/public"> RailsEnv "development" Options -MultiViews </Directory> </VirtualHost> Any help is much appreciated.   I have defined alias that looks like this: Alias /pictures/sm/ /var/www/my_site/data/_active_thumbnails/ Later in the VirtualHost section have: DocumentRoot /var/www/my_site/sites/www.my_site.com/htdocs RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^/thumbnails/(.*)\.(jpg|JPG) /images/stg-list-img.png [PT,L] What I'm trying to do is to display /images/stg-list-img.png placeholder image only if the original image does not exist on the drive. Right now it's replacing all the images from /thumbnails/. It looks like the RewriteCond is not aware about the Alias. Is there the way to overcome it? Thanks

• Passenger apache default page error

  Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question. I asked it a couple of days ago on Server Fault but am getting no love. (It is sort of related to rails development...) The Question I just installed Passenger and the Passenger Pref Pane on OSX. However, when I try to browse to one of my Rails applications I just get the default Apache "it works!" page. I've checked the vhost definitions and they seem ok so I can't seem to figure out whats wrong... I've tried reinstalling passenger and the pref pane and restarting apache but to no avail. Anyone know how to fix this? My vhost definition looks like this: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName boilinghot.local DocumentRoot "/Users/ganesh/Code/boilinghot/public" RailsEnv development <Directory "/Users/ganesh/Code/boilinghot/public"> Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost>

• Troubles configuring SSL for an Apache host

  I configured it on Friday night and all worked well. Today for some reason it stopped working and I can't figure out why. When you goto the secure page it's acting like I have a self-signed certificate and I don't. • How to deploy code using git

  I have a bare repository initialize on my webserver. I code on my workstation and I'm able to push/pull/commit changes to it. Now, I want to deploy this code on the webserver but into my apache directory (/var/www/html). If I wanted to track the changes (only pull no push) from this directory, should I clone the repo first? This way I can make changes locally, then commit and push to "central repo" and then pull from the documentroot folder to see the changes in "prod."

  Hi guys, I decided to learn HTML so I installed apache on windows vista. Everything seems to work fine; when I go to http://localhost:8080 the sample webpage installed by apache shows. Apache is configured at port 8080. So far so good. Since my DocumentRoot is c:\pub, I made another folder inside, e.g., c:\pub\test. What I'm trying to figure out is why the page at http://localhost/test:8080 cannot load? It has index.html and apache is working fine. Any ideas?

I want to run apache on sever A to do name based vhost that connects to many tomcat servers. I can run mod_proxy_ajp, only if apache and tomcat are on the same server. I'm trying to install redmine and it works with the webrick test server, but when I tried to use passenger (mod_rails) to host and go to the address I specified when in the virtualhost part of my apache config file nothing happens.   Hey, i'm trying to get a project to work, but i am having trouble with the rewrite module. I'm running Wamp over Windows XP. I changed httpd.conf to change the root of localhost to: DocumentRoot "C:/wamp/www/project/docroot/" I have htaccess RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / my Apache has the rewrite module Activated. my base_url() in config.php is 'http://localhost/' in routes.php i have: $route['default_controller'] = "home"; $route['our-recipes'] = "recipes"; and more pairs when i point the browser to http://localhost/ i get the homepage of my site, but when i click on any internal link like to 'our-recipes' it loads but i get the same homepage, with the new url on the location bar. if i try to access 'http://localhost/recipes' i get the same result. this is my folder structure: Can anyone please solve this for me??

• Zend Framework on a Shared Host

  I am trying to push my first ZF project to my shared hosting provider. I have done a lot of testing on my home server and everything is working great. My issue is that I do not know how to set up my .htaccess files on the shared hosting provider to make it work correctly. The ZF documentation says to configure my Apache config VirtualServer DocumentRoot to /whatever/path/project-folder/public, but I don't have that kind of access. How do I get around this? I have seen http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1115547/zend-framework-on-shared-hosting but none of those solutions have worked for me. My application path looks like this / - .htaccess - /application ... - /public -- .htaccess -- index.php -- ... ...   Hi, I need to configure two name-based virtual hosts in my ubuntu pc. If I type the address "http://mypage1" in browser, it should display my first customized html page and if I type the address "http://mypage2", it should display my second customized html page. I tried out the following: 1. installed apache 2. created a file mypage1 inside sites-available with the contents as follows: VirtualHost *:80 ServerName mypage1 ServerAlias http://mypage1 DocumentRoot /var/www/mypage1/html /VirtualHost 3. created a similar file mypage2 inside sites-available 4. ran the commands "a2ensite mypage1" and "a2ensite mypage2" to generate soft links inside sites-enabled. 5. restarted apache using "sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart" After doing the above steps, when I type mypage1 in firefox, I get dns_unresolved_hostname error. Kindly help me how to resolve this problem.

  I'm using Debian 7 Wheezy and Apache 2.2.22, and I'm setting up Virtual Hosts for a number of websites on my VPS. I've successfully configured the VirtualHost directives for one of the sites, but the second one continually gives "Problem Loading Page" in Firefox. I've run configtest and it has verified all my syntax is correct, and I've checked all the permissions. I've been reading that I'll need to basically just mimic the directives for listening on port 80, only on port 443, and make sure mod_ssl is enabled? EDIT: I just ran apache2 -t to test the config files that way, and got the error: apache2: bad user name ${APACHE_RUN_USER}. However, apachectl configtest returns Syntax OK. There are no other mentions of errors with the mutex anywhere else, however. I was pretty sure if there was an error with the user apache was supposed to run under, the server wouldn't start at all... EDIT 2: Restarting apache fixed the bad user name error.

• Write Local File using Adobe Air Iframe

  This is driving me mad. I am creating an AIR application and everything is working great. However I would really like to have a form inside an Iframe that when the user clicks submit saves the file to local application storage directory. Right now I am able to do this and save the file with no problems when I just access the HTML page not inside an Iframe. However if I wrap the page in an iframe and hit submit the file does not save. Any code examples would be very much appreciated. • Rails + Passenger CSS problem

  I'm trying to deploy my first Rails app. At first, I was getting the following error: ActionView::TemplateError (Permission denied) I set the permissions of the stylesheets folder to 777 (just for now until I work out what's going wrong) and the application started to work. However, it is not picking up any of the stylesheets (everything is displayed in plain text). If I view the source code and click the CSS links, I just get a blank page. Javascripts however, seem to be working just fine.   Is it possible to have Apache htaccess rewrites take effect before it hits django? For example so I can redirect iPhone users to a completely different domain without even hitting django. • Virtualhost subdomain Internal Server Error

  I am trying to set up user generated sub domains for my PHP application. When I go to sub.domain.com and if I upload an index.html file it works fine, however if I use index.php it gives me a "Internal Server Error 500" message I have done the steps below to get subdomains working STEP 1: Edited my DNZ zone file and appended *.domain.com. IN A 91.111.111.111 STEP 2: Appended to httpd.conf the following: <VirtualHost 91.111.111.111:80> ServerName domain.com ServerAlias *.domain.com DocumentRoot /home/domain/public_html/sub <Directory "/home/domain/public_html/sub"> Options -Indexes Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride All </Directory> </VirtualHost> Step 3: Tested by uploading an index.html file to the document directory in step 2, and works fine. Tried with an index.php gives a internal server error and then I looked into Apache error log and shows error for a redirect loop more than 10 times Update: getting this error: No user or group set - set suPHP_UserGroup Any ideas why I can not use any .php file in the directory?
