How to create a NSAutoreleasePool without Objective-C?

I have multiplatform game written in C++. In the mac version, even though I do not have any obj-c code, one of the libraries I use seems to be auto-releasing stuff, and I get memory leaks for that, since I did not create a NSAutoreleasePool. What I want is to be able to create (and destroy) a NSAutoreleasePool without using obj-c code, so I don't need to create a .m file, and change my build scripts just for that. Is that possible? How can that be done? OBS: Tagged C and C++, because a solution in any of those languages will do.

Win XP cannot connect (or see) my wifi network, but can see others

since yesterday I have a strange wifi problem with my pc. I have a wireless linksys router setup that worked fine for many months, now since yesterday my pc won't connect to the wifi signal anymore. The strange thing is, my macbook pro still connects fine. SSID is broadcasting, but my windows XP doens't see it, I have all signal modes set to "auto". Windows XP sees all my neighbours wifi networks, so the wifi card isn't broken or anything. Any idea what can be wrong here?

I had created a new table named USERLOG with two fields from a previous VIEW. The table already consist of about 9000 records. The two fields taken from the VIEW, i.e. weblog_views consist of IP (consists of IP address), and WEB_LINK (consists of URL). This is the code I used, CREATE TABLE USERLOG AS SELECT C_IP, WEB_LINK FROM weblog_views; I want to add another column to this table called the USER_ID, which would consists of a sequence starting with 1 to 9000 records to create a unique id for each existing rows. I need help with this part. I'm using Oracle SQL Developer: ODMiner version 3.0.04. I tried using the AUTO-INCREMENT option, ALTER TABLE USERLOG ADD USER_ID INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT; But I get an error with this, Error report: SQL Error: ORA-01735: invalid ALTER TABLE option 01735. 00000 - "invalid ALTER TABLE option" So, I would really appreciate any help that I can get!

Sliding "pull-down" navigation - what do I use? How do I implement? jQuery?

I'm new to Javascript and jQuery, but I'm learning. Here is what I'd like to accomplish: I have a row of navigation "pull-down" tabs that I'd like to animate. Some sliders will have text links to sub-pages and some will not. The bottom portion of the tab should be clickable to go to the main page. Then the sub-page, text links should also be clickable. Here is a graphic example that should make sense of what I'd like to do: http://lionheart.net/downloads/nav-example.png Mouse over, would slide it down. I hava a simple program about video recording . I use the surfaceView to show the preview screen. and I also want to put some buttons on the screen. I put all the component mentioned above into a XML file which is "ipcam.xml" I use MediaRecorder , SurfaceView , SurfaceHolder to complete this program because the preview screen does not orientate correctly when I rotate my phone. so I use "setRequestedOrientation(ActivityInfo.SCREEN_ORIENTATION_LANDSCAPE);" but , the button in the program is always in LANDSCAPE direction . it will not auto change direction when I rotate my phone , but the preview is ok!! so is there anyway to solve this problem. My site has a messaging feature where one user may message another. The messages support threading - a parent message may have any number of children but only one level deep. The messages table looks like this: Messages - Id (PK, Auto-increment int) - UserId (FK, Users.Id) - FromUserId (FK, Users.Id) - ParentMessageId (FK to Messages.Id) - MessageText (varchar 200) I'd like to show messages on a page with each 'parent' message followed by a collapsed view of the children messages. Can I use the GROUP BY clause or similar construct to retrieve parent messages and children messages all in one query? Right now I am retrieving parent messages only, then looping through them and performing another query for each to get all related children messages. I need to automate this whole process since i have approx 2000 HTML files which should be read and should be entered in a form in PHP. Hibernate and Child Objects (add versus clear)

Lets say I have domain model with Automobile and Wheels. Wheels is a List of Wheels Wheels has a many-to-one relationship to Automobile. If I get an object back from Hibernate and it has 4 wheels. I take that object remove the 4 wheels and add 4. And then Save. If I ask Hibernate for the object again and it returns an auto with 8 wheels... what are we doing wrong? I don't have access to the source for a few days but want to give our Java devs a push in the right direction. Thanks.

SQL 2008 GUID column is all 0's

I'm hoping this is a simple goof I did on my end ... I have a table in my database set up like so: column name: widget_guid data type: uniqueidentifier allow nulls: false default value: newid() identity: false row guid: true When records are created (via LINQ to SQL) that the values in this field are formatted as a GUID but contain all 0's My assumption was that when a new record was created, that a guid would be autogenerated for that column, much like an auto-incrementing row id. Is this not true? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

handling broadcast reciver

Hi, I have an app which has MainActivity(without gui.. please just flow with it:) ) now this MainActivity running a service, this service using sendBroadcast() in order to comunnicate with the MainActivity.. now ofcourse i need to registerReceiver in the onResume() of the MainActivity. but i also need to add unregisterReceiver(receiver) in the onDestroy() of the MainActivity. problem is: when i first start that app i need it to up the service, and i dont want the user to lose focus, so i press finish() after i`am starting the service.. but then auto invoked also unregisterReceiver(receiver).. and this is not good for me.. i get error it's said it couldnt find any registerd reciver. so i fixed it by delete this line.. but i am sure its going to 'revenege' me in the future, when/where could i have problem if i wont use unregisterReceiver(receiver).. at the onDestroy() thanks, ray.

Hi, I have a problem with the memory management in Objective-C. Say I have a method that allocates an object and stores the reference to this object as a member of the class. If I run through the same function a second time, I need to release this first object before creating a new one to replace it. Supposing that the first line of the function is: NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; This means that a different auto-release pool will be in place. The code to allocate the object is as follows: if (m_object != nil) [m_object release]; m_object = [[MyClass alloc] init]; [m_object retain]; The problem is that the program crashes when running the last line of the method: [pool release]; What am I doing wrong ? The typical way to remove this scrollbar (if not needed), is to add this to your css: HTML { height: 100%; overflow: auto; } I'm trying to do the same thing in javascript (without requiring that in my CSS), but i can't seem to find a way to get access to the html element. I know i can access the body element with document.body, but that doesn't seem to be sufficient, i need the wrapping html element. Any tips?

FTP/SFTP module for .NET

I am designing an auto downloader using .NET and C#. I was wondering if there is a decent/robust FTP/SFTP module out there that I can use, preferably free of charge. EDIT: I probably should've noted that I am looking for answer from somebody who tried several and found one that works very well. I currently use .NET wrapper for libcurl for FTP and it does not behave right. For example when I connect to FTP site with Filezilla and provide a path, it finds directory just fine. With libcurl, i get a header for 404 page saying path cannot be found. I am guessing that Filezilla gets 'home' directory correctly, and libcurl puts me to the root (i tried no path, and i had no permissions to access that directory). But anyways, I just don't know enough about FTP itself, so I would like something that just works. Thanks!
