  Hi, We've got a bunch of remote admin scripts which rely on psexec and they do not appear to be working over the network on our new 2008 hosts. An error dump is below: C:\Users\<user>\Desktop\PsTools> psexec \\<host IP> -u Administrator -p <pass> <cmd> PsExec v1.97 - Execute processes remotely Copyright (C) 2001-2009 Mark Russinovich Sysinternals - www.sysinternals.com Couldn't access <host IP>: The network name cannot be found. Make sure that the default admin$ share is enabled on <host IP>. We've tried both the machine name and the IP address in with the same results. The same command has worked previously with our Win2K3 hosts - so we're presuming it is some form of security change between the 2003 and 2008R2. Anyone have any clues?

• run sfc /scannow as administrator, but I am administrator

  On my windows 2003 I have to run sfc /scannow as admin. I have tried to run it as local administrator and domain administrator, but it says I need of administrator privilege ???? I have tried runas /user:administrator cmd and then on a new shell sfc /scannow. But it does not work too. The error message is: You must be an administrator running a console session in order to use the Windows File Checker utility. the error message is in italian and should be translated in english as above. The following is the cmd's screenshot of the error. I am connected as domain administrator but I run it a runas to be local admin.

  Hi There, I have a Sharepoint 2007 web farm installation with two site collections, one is a blank site and the other is a migrated Sharepoint 2003 site collection. I want to move some specific content from the migrated 2003 collection to the 2007 collection, however I also want to change the path of where it exists, an example is that in the migrated 2003 collection HR is under Admin HR, in the 2007 collection I want HR to appear before Admin. I've looked around but haven't found a lot of information regarding how to move specific content between sites, any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

• RegLoadAppKey working fine on 32-bit OS, failing on 64-bit OS, even if both processes are 32-bit

  I'm using .NET 4 and the new RegistryKey.FromHandle call so I can take the hKey I get from opening a registry file with RegLoadAppKey and operate on it with the existing managed API. I thought at first it was just a matter of a busted DllImport and my call had an invalid type in the params or a missing MarshalAs or whatever, but looking at other registry functions and their DllImport declarations (for instance, on pinvoke.net), I don't see what else to try (I've had hKey returned as both int and IntPtr, both worked on 32-bit OS and fail on 64-bit OS) I've got it down to as simple a repro case as I can - it just tries to create a 'random' subkey then write a value to it. It works fine on my Win7 x86 box and fails on Win7 x64 and 2008 R2 x64, even when it's still a 32-bit process, even run from a 32-bit cmd prompt.   I enabled HTTPS on the Apache server (2.2.15) Windows 7 Enterprise by uncommenting: Include /private/etc/apache2/extra/httpd-ssl.conf in C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\conf\httpd.conf and modifying C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\conf\httpd-ssl.conf to include: DocumentRoot "C:/Program Files (x86)/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/htdocs" ServerName myserver.com:443 ServerAdmin [email protected] ... I tried using oldcert.pem and oldkey.pem on the same server and it works fine. Is there anything that I missed?

I have searched the net but I have never come accross a solution which meets the following: Must handle at least 4GB volume If possible, fully portable (no install required required) Does not require admin rights in order to access/write encrypted files on the flash drive Does not corrupt data should the flash drive is removed from a USB port and the data is in a 'unencrypted' status Data is automatically encrypted if the flash drive is removed from a USB port and the data is in a 'unencrypted' status Portable apps must be able to run from the 'unencrypted' volume (in non-admin mode) PLEASE do not mention TrueCrypt as I am not considering (especially for wish list #3) Many thanks!   Hi, I am trying to deploy an ear file to JBOSS AS (defalut server). The application is the mavenised version of examples of SeamInAction book. When I copy the file to $JBOSS_HOME/server/default/deploy, I don't get any exception but the application doesn't respond, after some time trying to access the application from the browser gives following in the log... • Adding UIViewController.view to another view causes orientation problems

  Short version: I'm alloc/init/retaining a new UIViewController in one UIViewControllers viewDidLoad method, adding the new View to self.view. This usually works, but it seems to mess up orientation change handling of my iPad app. Longer version: I'm building a fairly complex iPad application, involving a lot of views and viewcontrollers. After running into some difficulties adjusting to the device orientation, I made a simple XCode project to figure out what the problem is. Firstly, I have read the Apple Docs on this subject (a small document called "Why won't my UIViewController rotate with the device?"), and while I do believe it has something to do with one of the reasons listed there, I'm not really sure how to fix it. In my test project I have an appDelegate, a rootViewController, and a UISplitViewController with two custom viewControllers. I use a button on the rootViewController to switch to the splitViewController, and from there I can use a button to switch back to the rootViewController. So far everything is great, i.e. all views adjust to the device orientation. However, in the right viewController of the splitViewController, I use the viewDidLoad method to initialize some other viewControllers, and add their views to its own view: self.newViewController = [[UIViewController new] autorelease]; [newViewController.view setBackgroundColor:[UIColor yellowColor]]; [self.view addSubview:newViewController.view]; This is where things go wrong. Somehow, after adding this view, adjusting to device orientation is messy. On startup everything is fine, after I switch to the splitViewController everything is still fine, but as soon as I switch back to the rootViewController it's all over. I have tried (almost) everything regarding retaining and releasing the viewcontroller, but nothing seems to fix it. As you can see from the code above, I have declared the newViewController as a property, but the same happens if I don't. Shouldn't I be adding a ViewController's view to my own view at all? That would really mess up my project, as I have a lot of viewControllers doing all sorts of things. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated...

• Token replacement

  Hey, I currently have a system on my website whereby I can put something like "[cfe]" anywhere in the site and, when the page is rendered, it will replace it with the root to the customer front end (same for "[afe]" and admin front end - so in the admin front end I can put "[cfe]/Default.aspx" to link to the homepage on the customer front end. This is in place as I have a development version of the site, then a test and a live version too. All 3 may have different roots to each section (for example the way the website is set up, the root to the admin front end in test is "/test/Administration/", but in live and development it is just "/Administration/"). Which version it is depends on the URL - all my development sites are in a folder called "development", whereas test is in a folder called "test" and any live urls do not contain either of these. There are also 3 different databases - one for each. All 3, obviously, require a different connection string. I also have a string replacement function in place which can change, for example, "[Product:Cards]" to point to the Cards catalogue page. Problem is that for this I go through all the products and do a replacement on "[Product:" & Product.Name() & "]". However I would like to take this further. I would like to pick up these custom strings when the page is rendered so it picks up "[Product:Cards]" and then goes off to find product "Cards" and replaces the string with a link to the Cards page, rather than looping through all the products and doing a replace just on the off chance that there are any replacements to make. One use for this, which I may start using in the future if I can figure out how to do this, is like on Wikipedia where you put the title of the page you want to point to, then a divider (think its a pipe from memory) then the link text. I would like to apply this to the above situation. This way broken links can also be picked up, and reported to admin (a major advantage as they can then locate them and remove the link or add the product / page that it refers to). I would like to take this to the stage where content of entire pages can be rearranged (kinda like web parts, but not as advanced as that). I mean like so you can put [layout type="3columnImageTopRight" image="imageurl"]Content here[/layout]. This will display, as specified, an image in the top right (with padding at the left and bottom) and 3 columns - maybe with the image spanning one or two columns). The imageurl can be specified as another token: maybe like [Image:imagename.gif] or something. This replaces it with the root to the image folder and then the specified filename. I have not really looked into how I am going to split the content into 3 columns yet, but this would be something to look at for my dissertation and then implement after my project deadline at least. Does anyone have any ideas or pointers which could help me with this? Also if this is not strictly token replacement then please point me to what it is, so I can further develop this. • Django rewrites URL as IP address in browser - why?

When I access my site with a URL (e.g., http://www.foo.com/) what appears in my browser address is the IP address with admin appended (e.g., http://123.45.67.890/admin/). When I access the site by IP, it is redirected as expected by django's urls.py (e.g., http://123.45.67.890/ - http://123.45.67.890/accounts/login/?next=/) I would like to have the name URL act the same way as the IP. That is, if the URL goes to a new view, the host in the browser address should remain the same and not change to the IP address. Where should I be looking to fix this? • disallow anonymous bind in openldap

  Folks, I have followed the instructions here http://tuxnetworks.blogspot.com/2010/06/howto-ldap-server-on-1004-lucid-lynx.html to setup my OpenLdap and its working just fine, except an anonymous user can bind to my server and see the whole user/group structure. LDAP is running over SSL. I have read online that i can add disallow bind_anon and require authc in the slapd.conf file and it will be disabled but there is no slapd.conf file to begin with and since this doesn't use slapd.conf for its configuration as i understand OpenLdap has moved to a cn=config setup so it wont read that file even if i create one. i have looked online without any luck.   Hello, I am using PLESK 9.2.3 with CentOS 5. I recently tried to change some things in the php.ini files, but i ended up clearing both files. stupid mistake! Is there a possibility i can get the content of both files back.   I'm implementing live video capture through DirectShow for live processing and display. (Augmented Reality app). I can access the pixels easily enough, but it seems I can't get the SampleGrabber to provide RGB data. The device (an iSight -- running VC++ Express in VMWare) only reports MEDIASUBTYPE_YUY2. After extensive Googling, I still can't figure out whether DirectShow is supposed to provide built-in color space conversion for this sort of thing. Some sites report that there is no YUV<-RGB conversion built in, others report that you just have to call SetMediaType on your ISampleGrabber with an RGB subtype. Any advice is greatly appreciated, I'm going nuts on this one. Code provided below. • Continuing permissions issues - ASP.net, IIS 7, Server 2008 - 0x80070005 (http 500.19) error

  I created an ASP.net MVC developed web application and I am trying to set up IIS. The Error: Http error 500.19, error code 0x80070005, Cannot read configuration file due to insufficient permissions, config file: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\BudgetManagerMain\BudgetManager\web.config If I set the AppPool to use 'administrator' i have no problems and can access the site just fine. If i set to NETWORK SERVICE (or anything else including self-created admin or non-admin user accounts), i get the above error. Things I have tried: identity for Application pool named 'test' is 'NetworkService' Set full access privs for wwwroot and all children files/folders verified effective permissions and NETWORK SERVICE has full access. Exchange administrators can enforce password policy across devices But while I'm using N1 with 2.2 and try to connect to my company exchange server it didn't enforce me to set a password, although connecting to the same server from Windows Mobile 6 device enforce this. • Windows 2008R2 blocks outbound LDAP for non-admins?

  I've got a Windows 2008R2 terminal server with ~30 users on it. It's joined to a Samba-based domain. During the login script, we connect directly to the LDAP server to pull out certain profile information. This used to work just fine. Now, it doesn't, but only for non-local-admin accounts. Local admins work fine. As a non-local-admin: Connection to ports 389 or 636 just terminate (wireshark on the LDAP server reveals no connection attempt) Connection to other ports on the same server work fine Same thing on multiple LDAP servers Windows firewall is disabled Can't find any other rules/policies that may block this I suspect since this used to work, it came down during an update, but for the life of me, I can't find what. EDIT: I just ran Wireshark on the machine and didn't see anything when connecting to the LDAP server in question (or any LDAP server for that matter). I can, however, see traffic when I connect to that server on another port.

• Can't connect to a share.

  Hello, I have a laptop with a Windows XP Tablet Edition installed. I have several users setup on the laptop (mostly me and my kids). When I try to connect to its administrative share via \DadLaptop\c$ from a Windows 2000 Professional machine, it prompts me for a user name and password. However, after I enter it, it always tells me "incorrect password or unknown username". As a test I setup another share, called "test" and tried to connect to that. It worked fine, didn't even ask me for a password, just connected to it and that's that. All the networking is wireless. I am connecting with an admin account (admin on the target computer). What am I missing? Why can't I connect to an administrative share?

  I had to move a computer account from one OU to another OU for the settings to be same as with other computers in the OU. After the computer account was moved to other domain, i reset the computer account. Now there is no domain access to this computer even using domain admin acccount. The error message is that windows cannot connect to domain because your computer account was not found.I reset the computer account again and that didnt make any difference. Local admin access was possilbe and i tried to change the computer to workgroup to join back to domain, but workgroup changing option is greyed out. Is there any way I can solve this issue. • With the Supermicro Embeded BMC, is it possible to connect to Serial Over Lan via SSH?

  I have several dozen Supermicro servers which use the Supermicro Embedded BMC. The documentation on that page suggests that I can access the Serial Over LAN (Serial Console) over SSH: SMASH and CLP support SSH based SOL Power control of the server But when I ssh into my BMC, all I see is a Busybox implementation, with no clear ability to connect to the SOL: # ssh 192.168.100.100 -l ADMIN [email protected]'s password: BusyBox v1.1.3 (2011.02.12-01:48+0000) Built-in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands. # show -sh: show: not found # smash -sh: smash: not found Supermicro support is giving me inconsistent answers. • CUPS basic auth error through web interface

  I'm trying to configure CUPS to allow remote administration through the web interface. There's enough documentation out there that I can figure out what to change in my cupsd.conf (changing Listen localhost:631 to Port 631, and adding Allow @LOCAL to the /, /admin and /admin/conf sections). I'm now at the point where I can see the CUPS interface from another machine on the same network. The trouble is, when I try to Add Printer, I'm asked for a username and password, but my response is rejected even when I know I've gotten it right (I assume it's asking for the username and password of someone in the lpadmin group on the server machine; I've sshed in with credentials its rejecting, and the user I'm using has been added to the lpadmin group). If I disable auth outright, by changing DefaultAuthType Basic to DefaultAuthType None, I get an "Unauthorized" error instead of a password request when I try to Add Printer. What am I doing wrong? Is there a way of letting users from the local network to administer the print server through the CUPS web interface?
