• SQL Server Reporting Services using of pictures with dynamic links

  I have setup a SSRS 2008 and building reports. So far so good. Now there is a picture control in SSRS where you can set the picture as external link reference. There you can choose to use a link. When I use a weblink (http://anyurl/download_picture.aspx?id=123) it dont' work for me. Calling the url in the web browser (all tested IE, Safari, Chrome, FF) the pictures is delivered, Header is ok, content type, too. Does it work in general in SSRS ? Or do I have to copy the picture to a temp folder and link the url like http://anyurl/mypicture.jpg.

• Monotouch creating UIViews with using() blocks

  When i first started using monotouch i found a page with some code samples for simple and frequent tasks... but on some of those code samples i found some things like this one: var imageRect = new RectangleF(0f, 0f, 320f, 109f); using (var myImage = new UIImageView(imageRect)) { myImage.Image = UIImage.FromFile("myImage.png"); myImage.Opaque = true; view.AddSubview(myImage); } The UIImageView is created inside a using() block. I'm a .Net developer and i know what a using() does, but i dont understand why is it used on this example. So my question is if this is the best way of creating views, and what are the differences (if any) of this aproach and creating views without the using() block.

• Getting a java collection of objects in Alphabetical order

  I have a question that I dont really know where to start. So I thought i'd ask it here. Basically, I have a drop down with names in it. I want these names to be in alphabetical order. Populating the drop down happens as follows; I query a database and pull down an Id and Name, make a object called "UserList", and set the name and id variables with what I get back. I then add this object to an ArrayList. I do this over and over. I then convert this collection to an array, and pass it to my JSP page using session.setAttribute("userList", UserList); I then populate the drop down as below. <c:forEach items="${usersCompanysList}" var="c" > There probably is a simple answer but how to I sort these names?

(or its containing div or something) Thanks!

• Secure way to run other people code (sandbox) on my server?

  I want to make a web service that run other people code locally... Naturally, I want to limit their code access to certain "sandbox" directory, and that they wont be able to connect to other parts of my server (DB, main webserver, etc) Whats the best way to do it? Run VMware/Virtualbox: (+) I guess it's as secure as it gets.. even if someone manage to "hack".. they only hack the guest machine (+) can limit the cpu & memory the process uses (+) easy to setup.. just create the VM (-) harder to "connect" the sandbox directory from the host to the guest (-) wasting extra memory and cpu for managing the VM Run underprivileged user: (+) doesnt waste extra resources (+) sandbox directory is just a plain directory (?) cant limit cpu and memory? (?) dont know if it's secure enough... Any other way? Server running Fedora Core 8, the "other" codes written in Java & C++

• Is RIA Services right for our Silverlight app at this point?

  Hi, I'm looking at Silverlight architectures and RIA Services looks interesting, but I am a bit concerned about its prelease status and how the feature set will change. We need our client app to be as responsive as possible over a slow network link, so a high priority is a solid sync system for pushing model state changes from the client back to the server. Will RIA Services help us in this regard or will I have to roll my own logic to do this ? Are there any other frameworks that can assist with this? Is the feature set involved in these requirements liable to change much in the next couple of months? If it makes any difference, our frontend is 100% Silverlight, so we dont need to worry about exposing SOAP APIs from the server or anything like that. It appears to me that RIA so far is a bit more mature for Silverlight use. Is this correct?

  I am trying to get the output of android shell command 'getprop' with java since getprop() always returns null no matter what. • Perl - Choose interface to connect through

  I have 2 interfaces on my server, eth0 and eth0:0. Those are 2 different external ips and obviously 2 different reverse domains. When i open a IO::Socket::INET Perl uses the eth0 interface by default. I would like to use the second interface (eth0:0) because this has a different ip and i dont want to use my main ip/domain. I have absolutely no idea how to select which interface to connect through. Here is the relevant code snippet: public static TimeO add (TimeO t1, TimeO t2) { TimeO sum = new TimeO ; ... } When i try to compile it i get this error message: TimeO.java:15: '(' or '[' expected TimeO sum = new TimeO ; ^ 1 error i cant think of any reason why it would want me to open a set of parenthasies or brackets here but its possible that i dont' quite understand the syntax.   Hi, I want to implement pagination using JDBC. The actual thing I want to know is "How can i get first 50 and then next 50 records from database for page 1 and 2 respectively" My Query is Select * from data [data table contains 20,000 rows] For page #1 I get 50 records and for page #2 I want to get next 50 records. How can I implement it efficiently in JDBC? I have searched and found that rs.absolute(row) is the way to skip first page records but it takes some amount of time on large result sets and I don't want to bear this amount of time. Also, I don't want to use rownum and limit + offset in query because these are not good to use in query, I dont know why, still I don't want to use it in query. Can anyone help me how to get limited ResultSet for pagination or is there any way JDBC is giving us?

  Howdy, I need to be able to print from my wpf application. I am just trying to print a transaction receipt. I have found that using PrintDialog pDialog = new PrintDialog(); pDialog.PrintVisual(new Receipt("transaction name","my store"), "documentTitle"); Does the trick very nicely. "Receipt() is a usercontrol that renders out the transaction details. How are you meant to do this? is this the correct way? what do I do if I dont know the printer that is going to be used? should I make the usercontrol only as wide as a thermal receipt printer? Any suggestions would be great!

  I'm not a unix guy. CPanel does a good job of managing cronjobs and that is what I used to run dozens of cronjobs. All of them combined run more than 5000 times every day. Every cron makes a call to an external API. How can I check how much bandwidth are all the cron jobs eating? For my website I use awstats and that shows bandwidth usage et al. Another thing is that I dont want the admins to ban the cron jobs because they are using too much bandwidth (and CPU), more than what is allocated in my web hosting package.

  I have a standard jquery ui accordion and I load content into it using a link_to_remote tag (in the accordion header). All this works fine. The problem is, once the content is loaded, I dont want a ajax call, I just want the accordion to fold, like it should normally do.   Hi, What is the best way for me to check for new files added to a directory, I dont think the filesystemwatcher would be suitable as this is not an always on service but a method that runs when my program starts up. there are over 20,000 files in the folder structure I am monitoring, at present I am checking each file individually to see if the filepath is in my database table, however this is taking around ten minutes and I would like to speed it up is possible, I can store the date the folder was last checked - is it easy to get all files with createddate last checked date. anyone got any Ideas? I dont want users to add new documents on first screeen where it shows folders. I want them to open the folders and add documents there.   HI. I have multiple webpages. So I have a common external js file. And I have added this js file to every page. I have multiple check boxes in every page. And I have written the click event in the external, common js file. But I wonder how the js file should be? Currently I have written like this. $(document).ready(function() { $(".chk").click(function() { alert("hi"); }); }); But whenever I click a checkbox the click event is fired twice. it should be once. The condition is based on id_jugador and id_partido, meaning that if I wanted to insert id_jugador = 2 and id_partido = 1, then it should just UPDATE the existing row with the new team1 and team2 values I am sending. And dont duplicate the row. However, if I have an entry id_jugador=2 and id_partido=3, since this combination does not exist yet, it should add the new row. I read about the REPLACE INTO but it seems to be unable to check combination of UNIQUE KEYS.

  In window, i can get the date created of the video from properties(right click). I have a few idea on this but i dont know how to do it. 1. Get the video information directly from video(like in windows), 2. By extracting the video name to get the date created(The video's name is in date format, which is the time it created). And i also using taglib-sharp to get the video duration and resolution, but i cant find any sample code on how to get the video creation date.
