  • Visual studio project properties tab "web" missing

    Hello! I have recently started having a strange problem with visual studio 2008 sp1: in the properties of my web projects I can't see the Web tab - I get the following error: Unable to create the designer. File is already opened in an incompatible editor. Or in the case of ASP.NET MVC: An error occurred trying to load the page. 909d16b3-c8e8-43d1-a2b8-26ea0d4b6b57 I can see the "web" tab if it's not selected immediately but once i click on it, the header of the tab goes blank and tha main pane just shows the error. I have unistalled both VS2008 and MVC, reistalled - same thing. Tried devenv /resetsettings also... I would really appreciate any help, I'm stuck! Nothing on google either:(

    Guys, would you describe a few things about c++ building blocks, on unix. I want to create an application that links against static libs and dynamic libs (.so). Question 1: How do I create static library using gcc/g++ ?How do I make my app link against it. Question 2: How to specify it in the makefile, linking against static and dynamic libs, assuming that both libraries have header files Summary: I have been using makefiles and libraries for years, written by someone else. Thus every time I modified it, I simply cut-and-pasted things around, without really understanding it. Now I want to get down to the ground and understand the building/linking/Creating Makfile process in-depth. What is a good book describing these concepts in intimate details? Thanks

    I just requested a hotfix from support.microsoft.com and put in my email address, but I haven't received the email yet. The splash page I got after I requested the hotfix said: Hotfix Confirmation We will send these hotfixes to the following e-mail address: (my correct email address) Usually, our hotfix e-mail is delivered to you within five minutes. However, sometimes unforeseen issues in e-mail delivery systems may cause delays. We will send the e-mail from the “[email protected]” e-mail account. If you use an e-mail filter or a SPAM blocker, we recommend that you add “[email protected]” or the “microsoft.com” domain to your safe senders list. (The safe senders list is also known as a whitelist or an approved senders list.) This will help prevent our e-mail from going into your junk e-mail folder or being automatically deleted. I'm sure that the email is not getting caught in a spam catcher. How long does it normally take to get one of these hotfixes? Am I waiting for some human to approve it, or something? Should I just give up and try to get the file I need some other way? (Update: Replaced "[email protected]" with "(my correct email address)" to resolve Martín Marconcini's ambiguity.)

  • Java Issues in Microsoft Internet Explorer & Firefox with Java 6 Standard

    I have a user on Windows XP SP3 running Java 6 Standard Edition Update 20 (build 1.6.0_20-b02). The issue is that when Java applets load the Java splash screen is very shaky (I will have to take a screenshot if you don't know what I am talking about) and than the Java applet screen does not show properly. The Applet we use most is for a security camera and you can't view the camera properly because of the Java issues. I have uninstalled Java and re-installed and still having the same issue. I do not see any errors on the Java Console, and this only happens on his computer I am running the same version of Java and the browsers and do not have the same issue on my machine.

    I have some Tests that I run with ReSharpers "Run All Tests from Solution" feature. One of the classes being tested has a dependency on a file in the same folder as the assembly containing it. This file is copied to the output directory via MSBuild (set "Copy To Output Directory" to "Copy always"). Problem: The tests are not being run from the normal assembly output directory, but instead some temporary location in my user profile. Therefore, I don't really know where to look for the file - the test runner does not copy it there. Can I force it to?

  • Do I really need Microsoft Updates?

    When I install a fresh copy of Windows XP Home (I bought it from the store.. not a copy), my PC rocks like lightening speed. But when I start installing all the updates, patches & less .NET 4.0 client (as the .NET 4.0 Client seems to bring machine to slow crawl). The PC starts to slow down.. like there are more resources to watch or something is happening in the background. So could I not get away with an awesome virus protector and an awesome firewall set-up and avoid all the patches? The machine I have is a quad 4, 4 GB RAM and 2.3 GHz process. Tons of room and the machine can run several applications at one time.. but when the updates happen.. it's s-l-o-w!

    I have written a stored procedure in MSSQL Server 2008 R2 which sends emails when my Application logs errors. It works fine on servers at our office but when I ran it on our remote servers I got must issue a starttls command first So maybe there is a setting somewhere which is different between the two servers, and that's why it's working on one and not the other. How do I set the server so that it issues a "starttls commaned first"?

Styles for one component (described in css) override styles for another components. For example, one component has ... <ul class="items"> ... and another component has it too. But that ul's has different meaning in these two components. On the other hand, i want to "inherit" some styles for one component from another.   • Issues Converting Plain Text Into Microsoft Word Bulleted Lists

    I'm a programmer. I hate status reports. I found a way to live with it. While I am working in my IDE ( Visual Slickedit ) I keep a plain text file open in one of the file/buffer tabs. As I finish things I just jot down a quick note into that file. At the end of the week that becomes my weekly status report. Example entries: The Datatables.net plugin runs very slowly in IE 8 with more than 2,000 records. I changed the way I did the server side code to process the data to make less work for the plugin to get decent performance for the IE 8 users. I made a class to wrap data from the new data collection objects into the legacy data holder objects. This will let the new database code be backward compatible with the legacy code until we can replace it. I found the bug reported by Jane. The software is fine. The database we use for the test site has data that is corrupted in a way it wouldn't be for production site At the end of the month I go back to each weekly *.txt file and paste all of the entries into a MS Word file for a monthly report. I give the monthly report to a liason to the contracting company who has to compile everyone's monthly reports into a single MS Word 2007 document. His problem, soon to be my problem, comes when he highlights my paragraphs like the ones above to put bullets in front of my paragraphs. When he highlights my notes to put bullets in front of them with MS Word 2007, Word rearranges the text a bit and the new line chars/carriage returns stagger the text so the text is no longer in neat chunks. It just puts some kind of newline character in anyway. Searching/Replacing those chars in the text files has the result of destroying the paragraphs. Once my notes are pasted into MS Word, Word automatically translates them into paragraph breaks. Searching/Replacing them there has similar results. Blank lines separating the notes disappears. One big mess. What I would like is to be able to keep adding my status notes to a text file as I am now, but do something different when I paste the notes into MS Word such that my liason can select the text, hit the bulleting command and NOT have the staggered text as shown above.   • Eclipse Project Files to .exe or Runnable Jar

    I am able to create the runnable jar using the export feature. However, it does not behave like it does in eclipse. When my program first starts, launch settings are displayed. I can see this. However, when I want to actually launch the meat of the program, it doesn't show up. It seems to not look at all my class files or something. I have tried Far Jar but that didn't work... I have triend JSmooth but still just ran the one frame If I can make this a runnable jar that works or even a .exe, that would be great!

  • Microsoft InTune in a SBS2008 Environment

    I'm looking into using InTune and Office 365, mainly for the licensing benefits it brings but also because our company is moving to having more users based around the globe and I feel it will make managing the computers easier. Currently we have a SBS2008 (Premium) server running Exchange and File and Print which I need to keep for File and Print (Exchange can move to Office 365). I cant find any information on how the AD is synchronized between InTune and the SBS server (as users will still needs access control to file shares on the SBS server). Does anyone have any experience in doing this or even know if its possible? Richard

  • Intermittent FTP login issues (Microsoft IIS FTP Service)

    I've got a somewhat weird problem which I'm not sure how to troubleshoot. We have a FTP running on a Windows Server 2003 machine using the IIS FTP Service, this is for our clients and is configured with IP-restrictions. However, now ONE of the clients starts complaining that they can't log in to the server from time to time. This is just ONE of 10+ clients that have this issue, which makes me think it's a problem on their side. Just to be on the safe side I had a peek into the FTP logs and found something strange.   • Multiple languages used in one eclipse project

    I was wondering whether it was possible for projects in Eclipse to have multiple languages associated with them, specifically PHP and Java. The purpose of this is that I'd like a common 'properties' file for the two projects. If instead there's a way to hold a relative reference to a file so that both projects can reference the properties file, that will work too.
