    Yesterday I asked a question on how to re-write sql to do selects and inserts in batches. I needed to do this to try and consume less virtual memory, since I need to move millions of rows here. The object is to move rows from Table B into Table A. Here are the ways I can think of doing this: SQL #1) INSERT INTO A (x, y, z) SELECT x, y, z FROM B b WHERE ... SQL #2) FOREACH SELECT x,y,z FROM B b WHERE ... INSERT INTO A(x,y,z); END FOREACH; SQL #3) FOREACH SELECT FIRST 2000 x,y,z FROM B b WHERE ... INSERT INTO A(x,y,z); END FOREACH; SQL #4) FOREACH SELECT FIRST 2000 x,y,z FROM B b WHERE ... AND NOT EXISTS IN (SELECT * FROM A) INSERT INTO A(x,y,z); END FOREACH; Are any of the above incorrect?   • Rails botches the SQL on a complex save

    Hi, I am doing something seemingly pretty easy, but Rails is messing up the SQL. I could just execute my own SQL, but the framework should be able to handle this. Here is the save I am trying to perform: w = WhipSenVote.find(:first, :conditions => ["whip_bill_id = ? AND whip_sen_id = ?", bill_id, k]) w.votes_no = w.votes_no - 1 w.save My generated SQL looks like this: SELECT * FROM "whip_sen_votes" WHERE (whip_bill_id = E'1' AND whip_sen_id = 7) LIMIT 1 And then: UPDATE "whip_sen_votes" SET "votes_yes" = 14, "updated_at" = '2009-11-13 19:55:54.807000' WHERE "id" = 15 The first select statement is correct, but as you can see, the Update SQL statement is pretty wrong, though the votes_yes value is correct. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Using SQL ManagementStudio 2008 I created SQL 3.5 Compact DB (TestCompact.sdf) and I have created subscription to existing Publication. Using SQL Management Studio it is working. I have transfered TestCompact.sdf to Windows Mobile 5 emulator device and with QueryAnalyzer for Mobile I could query existing tables in TestCompact.sdf. I don't know how to start replication synchronization on that mobile device. Do I need to write some C# code or it is possible do it more simple?

    I have the following code to connect to a sql server compact edition 2008: private SqlConnection sqlConn; public void createConnection() { String connectionString = @"Data Source=C:\Projects\somefile.sdf;Persist Security Info=False"; sqlConn = new SqlConnection(connectionString); sqlConn.Open(); } However, I keep getting the following error when sqlConn.Open() is executed: "A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)" Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? I can create a connection to the db in the database explorer but it doesn't seem to work in code.

  • Dump Hibernate activity to sql script file

    Hi, I'm trying to log hibernate activity (only dml operations) to an sql script file. My goal is to have a way to reconstruct the database from a given starting point to the current state by executing the generated script. I can get the sql queries from log4j logs but they have more information than the raw sql queries and i would need to parse them and extract only the helpful statements. So i'm looking for a programatic way, maybe by listening the persist/merge/delete operations and accessing the hibernate-generated sql statements. I don't like to reinvent the wheel so, if anybody know a way for doing this i would appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance

I've tried ArrayLists, Dictionaries and a few other methods but can't find a way of doing it. They subscribe to various user and I inserted these data to table subscribe. Column subscriber indicates who is subscriber and column subscribeto indicates who they've subscribe to. From the above table can conclude that; user id=1 subscribed to 6 users user id=2 subscribed to 3 users I want to find manual of subscription (like Facebook is manual friends) user 1 subscribe to user 5,6,7,8,9,10 user 2 subscribe to user 5,6,7 So, Manual subscription of user 1 and 2 are: 5,6,7 And I'm trying to create SQL statement.. I give you user table for my SQL statement and I think we can use only subscribe table but I can't figure out. Table user userid (columns) 1 2 3 ... ... SQL "select * from user where (select count( 1 ) from subscribe where subscriber = '1' and subscribeto = user.userid) and (select count( 1 ) from subscribe where subscriber = '2' and subscribeto = user.userid);" This SQL can work correctly, but it very slow for thousands of columns. Please provide better SQL for me, Thanks.

    I'm looking for a way to write an SQL statement in C# targeting different providers. A typical example of SQL statements differentiating is the LIMIT in PostgreSQL vs. TOP in MSSQL. Is the only way to solve SQL-syntax like the two above to write if-statements depending on which provider the user selects or using try catch statements as flow control (LIMIT didn't work, I'll try TOP instead)? I've seen the LINQ Take method, but I'm wondering if one can do this without LINQ? In other words, does C# have some generic SQL Provider class that I have failed to find that can be used?

How do I see what values are coming in? I did echo and it shows ?xType as ?xType. No values. What does ? stand for in SQL?

    Friends I have install a .net window application exe at client machine and its database in sql server 2000. For Exe I install .net framework and other support software and for DB i install sql server 2000 and Create Database over there and connect it. Working Properly But now client change Xp to window7. I search for installation of SQL Server 2000 , but its not working over there. So what i did, i send the MDF file of database with exe application and make connection string and its also working. Now i change something in DB , and trying to update .mdf file but its not reflecting the new one mdf its getting the old one. i am Stuck...... am i did any wrong ? because its difficult for me to fix. OR i want to know what is the efficient way of use of SQL Server 2000 database on window7 or any else solution is there? Please help me...
