• Remove DRM From a WMV file I own

  Alright, first, let me explain. I purchased some content through Microsoft's Zune/Xbox Video service, and man that was a mistake. After trying several times to get the video to play, I received an error along the lines of "out of licenses." Lucky for me, I was able to recover the file I was looking for off of a backup, but now I'm having problems playing it. It works fine in Windows Media Player, but not in Zune or Xbox Video (on Windows 8). I contacted Zune's customer support, and of course they couldn't help me. So, I legally own the content, I just want to be able to play it where I want to play it. It's ridiculous that I can't. I know there are ways to do this out there, I just can't figure it out (I keep getting directed to this piece of junk thing called Almedia, which kind of seems to work, but was only putting out audio in the demo version).   Hey guys, I'm working on some legacy code for a client, involving Microsoft Content Management System (MCMS). Currently, everything is local, the code, MCMS, SQLServer, and IIS (5.x). I copied the project folder, and then opened the new copied solution in VS2005, and let it do it's conversion thing. But now nothing works. I've nnotice there have been some changes to IIS profile. What are the extent of these changes...?? Also, my VS2003 fails to recognize the Web Project?? Anyone have any idea what's going on? cheers!

  I want to keep only the filenames (not full paths) and add the filename to some bbcode. Here is the HTML to be converted: <a href=/path/to/full/image.jpg rel=prettyPhoto><img rel=prettyPhoto src=/path/to/thumb/image.jpg /></a> Notice I cannot have rel="foo" (no double quotes).. Here is what I have in PERL, to perform the conversion: s/\<a href=(.+?)\ rel=prettyPhoto\>\<img rel=prettyPhoto src=(.+?) \/>\<\/a\>/\[box\]$1\[\/box\]/gi; This converts the HTML to: [box]/path/to/image.jpg[/box] But this is what I want as a result: [box]image.jpg[/box] The HTML must remain the same. So how do I change my PERL so that $1 contains only the filename?

• what's the difference between php time and sql time

  Can anyone tell me why the timestamp generated by the php time() function is so different from SQL datetime? If i do a date('Y-m-d', time()); in php, it gives me the time now, as it should. If I just take the time() portion and do: $now = time(); //then execute this statement 'SELECT * FROM `reservation` WHERE created_at < $now' I get nothing. But hey, so if the value of $now was 1273959833 and I queried 'SELECT * FROM `reservation` WHERE created_at < 127395983300000000' Then I see the records that ive created. I think one is tracked in microseconds vs the other is in seconds, but I cant find any documentation on this! What would be the right conversion between these two?? any help appreciated.

• iPhone Docked Playing Through PC, Buzzing.

  Hi. I have an iPhone that I fit into an Apple dock. There is an audio cable from dock into the line in on my sound card. My headphones are plugged into the line out. I get this really quite buzz that is fairly constant, but changes as the iphone "does stuff". It's not so bad when the music is playing. But when it stops I get the buzz, so I can't really use my headphones as "noise cancellation." It doesn't help to change my volume sliders on the PC. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  Very weird problem occurred, I have moved a site from one server to another - All is working, but any query involving a date is playing up. I get the following: DELETE FROM MYTABLE WHERE categoryId = -2 AND datecreated < '3/23/2010'; The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value Now what's strange is I have changed the LCID to 1033 on the new server as the date is showing as US format and its still throwing an error! I then tried 2057 and again the same error? Made no difference. I'm a little confused, as this is a working site from a server with IIS6 - The locale is 1033 on that server and it works perfectly!! :S I have just tried thrown a Cdate() around the date too and yet again the same error??? Any ideas??

Now I want to do the same using fifo, so I'm writing this mkfifo temp.wav ffmpeg -i input.flac temp.wav & faac -q 120 -o output.m4a temp.wav And it's freezing. • Ubuntu Studio 10.4 boots to terminal mode only

  I did clean install from ISO DVD. It boots only to command line asking for login. After I login I enter STARTX and desktop appears and some of the studd actually works, but there are a lot of problems: there is no way to reboot or shut down except to stopx/logoff and enter shutdown sound system doesn't respond pulse audio volume control gives "connection failed, connection refused" DVD drives not available GDebi Package installer is grayed out and so I can't use it (but synaptic package manager works OK) Software Center won't start when clicked -- it just stops trying DBus cant run because it says /usr/local/var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket file not found (also /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket file not found) There's just a lot of things wrong and I can't help but think something is missing or was mis-coded in the distro so that there are typos in some script somewhere. If anyone can tell me where to begin to untangle this mess I'd appreciate it, but I think it all begins when it can't start the GUI automatically and I need to enter STARTX.

• Sound plays on headphones and speakers with Lenovo ThinkPad L512 + Ubuntu 10

  The only thing really missing from this install is this issue with the sound. I've searched all over the forums and i found one thing where you get the model and codecs and write them to a file, however, I can't seem to find what my "model" is because none of the postings have anything about Lenovo laptops. Here is the command they all asked for: Code: cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec Codec: Realtek ALC269 Codec: Intel G45 DEVIBX With that info, how do I get the model, and how do I get my speakers to stop playing when headphones are plugged in. Also, I don't have any software installed like pulse audio either, so it's not that. Thanks so much to whoever can answer this... The Ubuntu forums are nearly useless... ive never gotten a correct answer back on that site.

• How do I restore the Gnome Panel volume control in Ubuntu 10.04?

  I use alsa, and I don't have a volume control applet on my Gnome Panel. When I right click and select "add to panel", there is nothing that has to do with "sound", "audio" or "volume" in the list, and the "Indicator Applet" or "Indicator Applet Session" things have no volume controls, or properties that would let you enable any sort of volume control. How can I get a volume control in Ubuntu, so I don't have to run aumix in a terminal or something? I've been using Linux since Redhat 5, it's beyond me why these sorts of problems are still around. Someone should just put a damn "Volume Control" element in the list of things to add to the panel, even if it doesn't work, perhaps showing an error message.

  I have a huge number of mp4 video files that needs to have a volume boost. I need a way to execute a ffmpeg audio filter on all files in a specified base directory (and in subdirectories as well). My problem is that I'm working on a Windows computer and I have no knowledge of its shell syntax. I would like to do the equivalent of what this bash script does : TARGET_FILES=$(find /path/to/dir -type f -name *.mp4) for f in $TARGET_FILES do ffmpeg -i $f -af 'volume=4.0' output.$f done I spent quite some time this afternoon looking for a solution but the recursive nature of what I need (that is so simple with find!) isn't too clear.   I need a VNC LIKE application which rather than sharing the screen, can take control of a specific application and then share that functionality across a network to multiple clients. Obviously, VNC requires use of the mouse and therefore only one user can do something at one time, this is NOT what I am after. I am after something that can hijack the graphic user interface, map certain controls, and then display them in another piece of software (perhaps like TOUCHOSC) The software I would like to map and share is called YAMAHA STUDIO MANAGER and is used to control certain Yamaha audio hardware, and in my case a Yamaha LS9 and M7CL mixing console. • Does anyone know of a way to easily convert a PDF to a docx format programmatically

  We have a couple 3rd party systems that give us PDFs. We would like to convert those PDFs for display on the web without using an Adobe product. Ideally we would like to use Silverlight to render the PDFs but are having trouble converting from a PDF to Xaml or using docx format as a middle man. There are lots of libraries that give PDFs but that is not what we need. If there is a library out there that does this, a .net lib would be preferable but we can run the conversion using the command line as well if that is an option.

• PcLinuxOs demands I use only one repository at time. Is it right?

  I come to your presence with this question that is paralyzing my coding efforts. PclinuxOs was my distro of choice for reliability, but it is jealous and does not permit me to add repos from, say, Debian. The wiki is clear advising on using just one repo, and I end up not finding what I used to find on normal Debians. Multimon, the audio decoder, for example (my other question) is not there. When I try to install multimon with hammer and plies, it returns errors of all kinds. Is there a way to safely and temporarily add a repository, make the install and remove the repo, returning pclinuxos to its stable state?

  My OS is Ubuntu 12.04.1 Desktop version (32bit). I want to create a new group called restricted which allows its users to use Audio devices and Video devices only, and I want to add a user called visitors to that group. By using Users and Groups, I was able to create a new user account called visitors, and a new group called restricted. But I can't figure out how to add those settings to the group restricted, and add the visitors user account to that group. I tried Google-ing, but every search result was about accessing root privileges and all, and I couldn't find answers on this specific topic.

• Several devices in Device Manager have Code 3 error

  One of our users' machines (Dell Optiplex 380 running Windows 7 32-bit) is having a weird driver issue. A bunch of devices have Error Code 3: The driver for this device might be corrupted, or your system may be running low on memory or other resources. (Code 3) The system isn't low on memory (only 1GB in use out of whatever the max for 32-bit is.) Here's a screenshot of the affected devices: I tried reinstalling the chipset and audio drivers to no avail. I have no idea what prompted it, and I'm not sure how the basic Windows Generic PnP Monitor driver could even be corrupted. What might be causing this error?

  I'm not interested in a hardware solution, I want to know about software that may "read" modulated signal received trough the power supply - some sort of a low-level driver that would access the power signal in a convenient place and demodulate it. Is there a way to receive signal from the computer's power supply? I'm interested in an API or library that would allow the computer to be seen as a node in a Power Line Communication network and receive data directly through the power cable, without the need for a converter. Is there any active research in this field? Edit: There is software that reads monitors and displays internal component voltages - DC voltage after being converted and filtered by the power supply - now I need is a method of data encoding that would be invariant to conversion and filtering, the original signal embedded in AC being present in some form within the converted DC signal.

• Windows7: Which app has a notification sound with 3 descending notes?

  Brand new Win7 box loaded with the usual dev tools -- VS2008, Firefox, Chatzilla, Thunderbird, emacs, Pidgin, Putty, iTunes, SharpReader. Every couple of minutes, I get an audio notification consisting of three rising notes, maybe a middle-C-G-F on a piano (I don't have a piano handy, and don't have time to use GarageBand to try to figure it out). Nothing in the notification bar is flashing when this happens. The sound isn't in any of the Windows Sound control panel applets. And it's not in C:\Windows\Media, so it's most likely coming from a non-Microsoft app. Is this familiar to anyone?
