  • Authenticating mssql users through different logins

    I'm developing a new node.js based frontend for an old intranet site using mssql server and Classic ASP. Both the new and the old site will coexist during the transition phase and both must access the same mssql server using the same database principals. The old ASP/IIS site uses integrated windows login. The new node-based frontend has to use sql server based logins/principals (edit: while the IIS/ASP site must keep using Windows server principals) and all existing database users/principals must keep working wherever they login from. From reading around, it appears that a database principal can not be assigned to multiple server principals, therefore it seems unlikely there's a simple solution to this. I'd like to know if anybody has had to deal with a similar situation before and how they've gone about it.

    Hi, I have a bunch of items – for simplicity reasons – a flat table with unique names seeded via bulk insert: create table #items ( ItemName NVARCHAR(255) ) The database has this structure: create table Statements ( Id INT IDENTITY NOT NULL, Version INT not null, FurtherDetails varchar(max) null, ProposalDateTime DATETIME null, UpdateDateTime DATETIME null, ProposerFk INT null, UpdaterFk INT null, primary key (Id) ) create table Item ( StatementFk INT not null, ItemName NVARCHAR(255) null, primary key (StatementFk) ) Here Item is a child of Statement (inheritance). I would like to insert items in #items using a set based approach (avoiding triggers and loops). Can this be achieved with OUTPUT in my scenario. A ‘loop based’ approach is just too slow where I use something like this: insert into Statements (Version, FurtherDetails, ProposalDateTime, UpdateDateTime, ProposerFk, UpdaterFk) VALUES (1, null, getdate(), getdate(), @user_id, @user_id) etc. This is a start for the OUTPUT based approach – but I am not sure whether this would work in my case as ItemName is only inserted into Item: insert into Statements ( Version, FurtherDetails, ProposalDateTime, UpdateDateTime, ProposerFk, UpdaterFk ) output inserted.Id ... ???   • Adding relative week number column to MySQl results

    I have a table with 3 columns: user, value, and date. The main query returns the values for a specific user based on a date range: SELECT date, value FROM values WHERE user = '$user' AND date BETWEEN $start AND $end What I would like is for the results to also have a column indicating the week number relative to the date range. So if the date range is 1/1/2010 - 1/20/2010, then any results from the first Sun - Sat of that range are week 1, the next Sun - Sat are week 2, etc. If the date range starts on a Saturday, then only results from that one day would be week 1. If the date range starts on Thursday but the first result is on the following Monday, it would be week 2, and there are no week 1 results. Is this something fairly simple to add to the query? The only ideas I can come up with would be based on the week number for the year or the week number based on the results themselves (where in that second example above, the first result always gets week 1).

    I am looking for a way to use l2s to return ranked result based on keywords. I would like to take a keyword and be able to search the table for that keyword using .contains(). The trick that I haven't been able to figure out is how to get a count of how many times that keyqord appears, and then .OrderByDescending() based on that count.     I'm looking for a code snippet manager per the following: Usable on Windows stand-alone product desktop-based (not online) Free or paid Has PHP syntax highlighting I've found the following, but they don't seem to quite ring the bell (although they are good products): -- Snip-It Pro (not free) -- Has syntax highlighting, but seems "not there yet." -- The Guide (free: SourceForge) Tree-based info manager, no syntax highlighting. -- ActionOutline (free, upgrade not free) Tree-based info manager, no syntax highlighting.
