  • iPad/iPhone duplicate view and resize?

    I'm working on an app that is similar to a Presentation application (Keynote/Powerpoint) for the iPad, that will use the VGA adapter to present on screen. However, if the presenter is using the external display for the presentation, I'm wondering if it's possible to have a miniature version of what's on the external display show up on the main iPad display (along with the presentation controls, which will take up most of the screen). In other words, I'm looking for a way with the iPhone SDK to "bake" the contents of a View (which will contain various Images and Labels in various locations) to an image (or some other static storage), resize it, and re-display it in another view. It would need to be smaller (since I don't want the 1024x768 external display to completely overlay the iPad's main display, only a corner of it), and either live-updating (literally an instance of the other View, just scaled), or be able to be refreshed, such that when updating the external display, the "picture in picture" version of itself would be updated too.

    We are using Quartz with Spring and our configuration is throwing deadlocks when quartz has more than 1 thread configured. I'm starting to believe that it's because we don't have our quartz configured correctly with Spring, but I can't find enough documentation on how to configure the two to play nicely. We are running on both Windows and Linux environments - pointing at MSSQL and Oracle DBs. With both OS, using either DB, we can throw the following deadlock errors... We're consistently throwing these deadlock errors.   • No Business Data Connectivity Service associated with current web context error

    I am running on a new dev setup for SharePoint 2010 and trying to setup some External Content types. I think that I have setup BCS correctly (since I see it running in the central administration). When I go into SharePoint designer 2010 and try to setup a new External Content Type, I get the following error: "There is no Business Connectivity Service associated with the current web context." Am I missing something with the configuration or why am I not able to setup a new External Content Type to point to my existing SQL database

    Hi, I have a C# Winforms application which is calling a simple powershell script using the following method: Process process = new Process(); process.StartInfo.FileName = @"powershell.exe"; process.StartInfo.Arguments = String.Format("-noexit \"C:\Develop\{1}\"", scriptName); process.Start(); The powershell script simply reads a registry key and outputs the subkeys. $items = get-childitem -literalPath hklm:\software foreach($item in $items) { Write-Host $item } The problem I have is that when I run the script from the C# application I get one set of results, but when I run the script standalone (from the powershell command line) I get a different set of results entirely.     I've tried to declare a custom validator for @NotNull constraint and Glassfish4 throw this exception when find /META-INF/validation.xml. Project works fine if I omit this file.   • Java Web Service - Faulty Services - ClassNotFound Exception

    My Project has 2 java files (A.java and B.java in same package). A.java uses methods in B.java. And, an external jar has been added in the project build path. In order to create a web service (bottom up) from the class, I created a new Dynamic Web Project in Eclipse with axis2 as the runtime platform, and imported A.java and B.java source files. Next, since all my methods that need to be exposed are contained in A.java, I right click on it and created web service using the standard settings. When I deploy the web service on my apache, I get "Fault Service" and a few ClassNotFound Exceptions for some of the classes in my external jar file (I have already imported it as an external jar). Does the external jar needs to be imported in another way?

  • MySQL performance

    Hi, I have this LAMP application with about 900k rows in MySQL and I am having some performance issues. Background - Apart from the LAMP stack , there's also a Java process (multi-threaded) that runs in its own JVM. So together with LAMP & java, they form the complete solution. The java process is responsible for inserts/updates and few selects as well. These inserts/updates are usually in bulk/batch, anywhere between 5-150 rows. The PHP front-end code only does SELECT's. Issue - the PHP/SELECT queries become very slow when the java process is running. When the java process is stopped, SELECT's perform alright. I mean the performance difference is huge. When the java process is running, any action performed on the php front-end results in 80% and more CPU usage for mysqld process. Any help would be appreciated. MySQL is running with default parameters & settings. Software stack - Apache - 2.2.x MySQL -5.1.37-1ubuntu5 PHP - 5.2.10 Java - 1.6.0_15 OS - Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic)

  • mpicc hangs when called from makefile; runs fine as single command

    i'm trying to compile WRF (doubt that's relevant) and am having a problem where mpicc will hang when run w/ the compile script. icc and mpif90 have no issues. the compile script is executed w/ #!/bin/csh -f just to be verbose, here's an example. i run the script and get here make[3]: Entering directory `/home/jason/wrf/wrf3.5/external/RSL_LITE' mpicc -DMPI2_SUPPORT -DMPI2_THREAD_SUPPORT -DFSEEKO64_OK -w -O3 -DDM_PARALLEL -DMAX_HISTORY=25 -DNMM_CORE=0 -c rsl_bcast.c and hang. so then i run that line by itself jason@server:~/wrf/wrf3.5$ cd /home/jason/wrf/wrf3.5/external/RSL_LITE jason@server:wrf3.5/external/RSL_LITE$ mpicc -DMPI2_SUPPORT -DMPI2_THREAD_SUPPORT -DFSEEKO64_OK -w -O3 -DDM_PARALLEL -DMAX_HISTORY=25 -DNMM_CORE=0 -c rsl_bcast.c jason@server:wrf3.5/external/RSL_LITE$ compiles instantly. starting the compile script again does the exact same thing but on the next file. i have no idea what to do, and this is basically impossible to google for.

    Hi-- I've written a PHP script that runs via SSH and nohup, meant to process records from a database and do stuff with them (eg. process some images, update some rows). It works fine with small loads, up to maybe 10k records. I have some larger datasets that process around 40k records (not a lot, I realize, but it adds up to a lot of work when each record requires the download and processing of up to 50 images). The larger datasets can take days to process. Sometimes I'll see in my debug logs memory errors, which are clear enough-- but sometimes the script just appears to "die" or go zombie on me. My tail of the debug log just stops, with no error messages, the tail of the nohup log ends with no error, and the process is still showing in a ps list, looking like this-- 26075 pts/0 S 745:01 /usr/bin/php ./import.php but no work is getting done. Can anyone give me some ideas on why a process would just quit? The obvious things (like a php script timeout and memory issues) are not a factor, as far as I can tell. Thanks for any tips PS-- this is hosted on a godaddy VDS (not my choice). I am sort of suspecting that godaddy has some kind of limits that might kick in on me despite what overrides I put in the code (such as set_time_limit(0);).

  • Embedding a CMS in an MVC Web App

    I'm working on a website for searching for businesses, then displaying a listing page. We've been toying with the idea of letting the clients manage their listing page using an external CMS. I'm not sure how often this is done, or if it's even best practice. Ideally, we want to be able to setup a listing on our website, then give the clients access to an external CRM when they can manage their listing page. We then want to embed this custom page within our website, possibly using an iframe (which will come along with it's own set of complications). We'd like this integration to be as seamless as possible. I'd personally prefer it if we could directly inject the HTML into our own page and bypass an iframe all together, but I don't know of any CMS hosting services that provide the interface for such a thing. We've experimented a little with Squarespace, and we can get a fairly clean version of someone's page which would be well suited for an iframe. I'm wondering if anyone else has looked and integrating an external hosting CMS into a website (in this case, we're using ASP.NET MVC). We'd also want to automate the creation of accounts on this external CMS, so when a user signed up we could just point them to the website with some login details. I have no idea if anyone offers a service like this, but any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. We could host a service ourself too, but the aim is to have an external system that clients can use to manage their pages. Cheers, James

    Hello Everyone. I am new to delphi. I was trying to add C Object files in my Delphi project and link them directly since Delphi Supports C Object Linking. I got it working when i link a single Object file. But when i try to link multiple object files, i am getting error 'Unsatisfied forward or external declaration'. I have tried this in Delphi 2007 as well as XE.So what am i doing wrong here?     I am working on a Yahoo! App which requires certain external Javascript Frameworks to be loaded and used. Also in the Yahoo! App Best Practices Guide, it is also mentioned that the sources should be externalized, however, externalization isn't working for me. I am using the standard procedure to load the external JS file like the following: <script src="http://www.google.com/js/nxsl.1.js"></script> But the above statement is giving me an error that external sources are not allowed. Is there any way to use external JS files as I don't want to include all of my JS Login inline, it doesn't make sense to me and majorly my code won't be re-usable. Any thoughts ?

    How do I escape ampersands in a batch file (or from the Windows command line) in order to use the start command to open web pages with ampersands in the URL? Double quotes will not work with start; this starts a new command line window instead. Update 1: Wael Dalloul's solution works. In addition, if there are URL encoded characters (e.g. space is encoded as %20) in the URL and it is in a batch file then '%' must be encoded as '%%'. This is not the case in the example.   • Is this a good way to expose generic base class methods through an interface?

    I am trying to provide an interface to an abstract generic base class. I want to have a method exposed on the interface that consumes the generic type, but whose implementation is ultimately handled by the classes that inherit from my abstract generic base. However I don't want the subclasses to have to downcast to work with the generic type (as they already know what the type should be).     I have a c# program through which i am opening cmd window as a a process. in this command window i am running a batch file. i am redirecting the output of that batch file commands to a Text File. When i run my application everything seems to be ok. But few times, Application is giving some error like "Can't access the file. it's being used by another application" at the same time cmd window is not getting closed. If we close the cmd process through the Task Manager, then it's writing the content to the file and getting closed. Even though i closed the cmd process, still file handle is not getting released. so that i am not able to run the application next time onwards.Always it's saying Can't access the file. Only after restarting the system, it's working.     Process A is calculating values for objects a1, a2, a3 etc. and is sending results to the middleware queue (RabbitMQ). Consumers read the queue and process these results further. Periodically process A has to send a snapshot of these values, so consumers could do some other calculations. Values for these objects might change independently. The queue might look like this a1, a1, a2, a1, a2, a2, a3... Consumers process each item in the queue. The snapshot has to contain all objects and consumers will process this message for all objects in one go. So the requirement is to have a queue like this: a1, a1, a3, a2, a2, [snapshot, a1, a2, a3], a3, a1 ... The problem is that these items are of different types: one type for objects like a1, a2 and other for a snapshot. This means that they should be processed in a diferent queues, but in that case there is a race condition: consumers might process objects before processing a snapshot. Is there any pattern to solve this (quite common) problem? We are using RabbitMQ for message queueing.
