  • Keep a Google Maps v3 Map Hidden, show when needed

    Is there a way of preventing Google Maps (JS, v3) of being displayed from the get-go ? I do some pre-processing and would like to show my 'Loading' spinner until everything is good to go (more eloquently put, hide the map -- e.g. the container div -- until all preprocessing is complete -- at which point, show the map). Hooking to the map's 'idle' event doesn't help that much, since the map is already displayed when this event hits. I know that the container div gets inline-styled by GMaps after loading, my first idea is to clear out the style attr (whilst listening to 'idle'), but it would be interesting to see if there is a way of creating the map and not displaying it until all pre-processing is done. Maybe by using an argument to the new google.maps.Map constructor, or a MapOption ? Any thoughts on this ? Thank you in advance !

    I have the following tight loop that makes up the serial bottle neck of my code. Ideally I would parallelize the function that calls this but that is not possible. //n is about 60 for (int k = 0;k < n;k++) { double fone = z[k*n+i+1]; double fzer = z[k*n+i]; z[k*n+i+1]= s*fzer+c*fone; z[k*n+i] = c*fzer-s*fone; } Are there any optimizations that can be made such as vectorization or some evil inline that can help this code? Instead of open in PDF application it is rendering PDF as text.   • Linux C++: how to profile time wasted due to cache misses?

    I know that I can use gprof to benchmark my code. However, I have this problem -- I have a smart pointer that has an extra level of indirection (think of it as a proxy object). As a result, I have this extra layer that effects pretty much all functions, and screws with caching. Is there a way to measure the time my CPU wastes due to cache misses? Thanks!

    Hi, I have a page that dynamically links to a document that opens in a new page (the document is stored in a database as binary data and I loaded using the following code: Response.ClearContent() Response.ContentType = myReader("MIMEType").ToString() Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename=" & myReader("Filename")) Response.BinaryWrite(myReader("DocBD")) Response.End() This works ok. However some documents have restricted access and before loading the document the user is redirected to a login page. After entering username and passowrd the document is loaded. If it is a pdf file for example, it loads in the same login page, but when it is a word or excel document it opens outside the browser window and the login page remains in the background. Is ther a way to force a word or excel document to open inside the browser window? Many thanks.

    I required to write a small web application that allow customer to select predefined layout template in html and be able to modify it. The application need to allow customer to add block text to pre defined area and images. The block texts need to be able to reorder based on customer need. eg. move up , move down or move to sidebar. THe complete layout will be able to convert to table layout and inline css due to email program doesn't like div & css.     Every time I start a new project and when I need to compare some float or double variables I write the code like this one: if (fabs(prev.min[i] - cur->min[i]) < 0.000001 && fabs(prev.max[i] - cur->max[i]) < 0.000001) { continue; } Then I want to get rid of these magic variables 0.000001(and 0.00000000001 for double) and fabs, so I write an inline function and some defines: #define FLOAT_TOL 0.000001 So I wonder if there is any standard way of doing this? May be some standard header file? It would be also nice to have float and double limits(min and max values)

Can opening files/sockets without closing them cause memory leaks? And third, how are sockets created and what do they look like memory wise? I'm also interrested in the role of the operating system (Windows) in reading the sockets and sending the data.

  • How to relink existing shared library with extra object file

    I have existing Linux shared object file (shared library) which has been stripped. I want to produce a new version of the library with some additional functions included. I had hoped that something like the following would work, but does not: ld -o newlib.so newfuncs.o --whole-archive existinglib.so I do not have the source to the existing library. I could get it but getting a full build environment with the necessary dependencies in place would be a lot of effort for what seems like a simple problem.

  • Where does abort() and terminate() "live"?

    Regarding the terminate handler, As i understand it, when something bad happens in code, for example when we dont catch an exception, terminate() is called, which in turn calls abort() set_terminate(my_function) allows us to get terminate() to call a user specified function my_terminate. my question is: where do these functions "live" they don't seem to be a part of the language, but work as if they are present in every single cpp file, without having to include any header file.

    Look at this ruby example: puts ["Dog","Cat","Gates"].1 This will output Cat as ruby allows me to directly access the "anonymous" array created. If I try this in PHP, however: echo array("Dog","Cat,"Gates")[1] This won't work. What is this called, not only concerning arrays but all functions? Where else is it possible? Feel free to change the question title when you know how this "feature" is called.

    Loading fancybox from Jquery how can I retrieve the contents of a div ID on a page and not the whole page. List<Audit_Type> table = new List<Audit_Type>(); var query = session.CreateSQLQuery("call Audit_Rows(Audit_Table_Type(:table))") .SetParameterList("table", table, NHibernateUtil.Custom(typeof(AuditTypeUDT))) This is what I did intuativly created the ICompositeType and just set in a list of them in but this gives me nothing close to what I wanted. I couldn’t figure out how to bind to a table at all. I have built the inline sql that would do this for me but it would destroy my shared pool (not using binds). So a General question how do I bind to complex/composite types using Nhibernate?
