  • Alternative to "assign to a function call" in a python

    I'm trying to solve this newbie puzzle: I've created this function: def bucket_loop(htable, key): bucket = hashtable_get_bucket(htable, key) for entry in bucket: if entry[0] == key: return entry[1] else: return None And I have to call it in two other functions (bellow) in the following way: to change the value of the element entry[1] or to append to this list (entry) a new element. But I can't do that calling the function bucket_loop the way I did because "you can't assign to function call" (assigning to a function call is illegal in Python). What is the alternative (most similar to the code I wrote) to do this (bucket_loop(htable, key) = value and hashtable_get_bucket(htable, key).append([key, value]))? def hashtable_update(htable, key, value): if bucket_loop(htable, key) != None: bucket_loop(htable, key) = value else: hashtable_get_bucket(htable, key).append([key, value]) def hashtable_lookup(htable, key): return bucket_loop(htable, key) Thanks, in advance, for any help!   • Missing Firefox app icon

    I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 (upgraded from LTS 10.04) and Firefox (version 11) doesn't show it's icon in the Window List panel, in the Firefox window top left corner (system menu) nor when using ALT+TAB to switch applications. I'm using unity 2D since I'm running ubuntu as a guest in a VMWare virtual machine (Host is windows 7) Instead of the Firefox icon I get what appears to be a generic icon that looks like an app window in the window list and a black rectangle with a curl in the bottom right corner in the ALT+TAB window. How do I fix this so that the proper Firefox icon gets displayed? EDIT: Depending on the icon set chosen in the Appearence settings window sometimes I get the icon, sometimes I don't. When using Ubuntu classic none of the icon sets provide the icon for Firefox.

  • I have a new file type that I would like to handle in gnome how to get file properties?

    I have a new file type that I would like to handle in gnome. Establishing a new mime type, a new thumbnailer and a new application to display the file type is done. But I need a new tab on the file properties page. This tab is analogous to the tabs for exif information for jpg files or for encoding information for video codecs, that says how long the video is. The files concerned are embroidery files and the file properties needed to be displayed are things like phisical dimentions of the design, how much thread will be used and how many colours. My belief is that with current gnome 3 this is not possible, am I right? Or should I take a wider view that in Ubuntu, anything is possible, just may be a bit difficult?

  • multiple calls to realloc() seems to cause a heap corruption..

    What's the problem with this code? It crashes every time. One time it's a failed assertion "_ASSERTE(_CrtIsValidHeapPointer(pUserData));", other times it is just a "heap corrpuption" error. Changing the buffer size affects this issue in some strange ways - sometimes it crashes on the "realloc", and other times on the "free".   • Bug on submitted app binary but not in the simulator - CALayer position contains NaN

    I submitted my app to the App Store where is ready to download. I've since then received some interesting crash reports when people select an image from the ImagePicker in one of my views. This bug (see below) makes the app crash. I was wondering 2 things. Can anyone spot the problem in the code below? How do you deal with bugs that are only in the App Binary but do not show up when trying to recreate them on the dev environment? - I can make the app crash with the Binary that is on the app store but when I do the same on the simulator or on my test phone the app works perfectly.. On the left side I want to put a widget that shows the files on the current project and on the left side a similar one but with the classes, methods, etc... Which widget should I use the Tree view or the tree widget? Also, I want to have a tab widget in the center with a text edit and this items the tree widgets and the tab widget to move and resize according to the window size. How can I accomplish this?

  • Empty R environment becomes large file when saved

    I'm getting behaviour I don't understand when saving environments. The code below demonstrates the problem. I would have expected the two files (far-too-big.RData, and right-size.RData) to be the same size, and also very small because the environments they contain are empty. In fact, far-too-big.R ends up the same size as bigfile.RData. I get the same results using 2.14.1 and 2.15.2, both on WinXP 5.1 SP3. Can anyone explain why this is happening?     Hi, I try to localize error messages from the Domain classes. This is possible with the default error messages, e.g.: default.blank.message=Property [{0}] cannot be blank and localized attribute names, e.g.: customer.address.label=Customer address Where "Customer" is my domain class and address is its attribute. My problem is that I can't localize some attributes because I need specific error messages. E.g: has.to.be.a.number=Property [{0}] has to be a number contingent.size.label=Contingent size. But the message I get is "Property [size] has to be a number" instead of "Property [Contingent size] has to be a number". The messages I cant localize are following: - Property [{0}] has to be a number - Property [{0}] has to be a valid date // I can't use g:datePicker in this context
