    - by user1486047
    I have an Iframe that links to another html page. The iframe is contained within a div. I found some code that would auto adjust the high depending on the contents of the iframe. This code works fine in firefox and older versions of internet explorer but its not adjusting the height in v7 or later..... Javascript: <script type="text/javascript"> function changeContent() { document.getElementById('right').innerHTML = window.frames['contentFRAME'].document.getElementsByTagName('html')[0].innerHTML; } </script> HTML: <div class="fl" id="right"> <iframe class="newsFrame" id = "contentFRAME" name = "contentFRAME" src ="news.html" onLoad = "changeContent()"></iframe> </div> Can anyone help.....

  • Setting background-image with javascript

    - by Mattoe3k
    In chrome, safari, and opera setting the background image to an absolute reference such as: "/images/image.png" changes it to "http://sitepath/images/image.png". It does not do this in firefox. Is there any way to avoid this behavior, or is it written into the browser's javascript engine? Using jquery to set the background-image also does this problem. The problem is that I am posting the HTML to a php script that needs the urls in this specific format. I know that setting the image path relative fixes this, but I can't do that. The only other alternative would be to use a regexp. to convert the urls. Thanks. Test this in firefox, and chrome / webkit browser: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> <div style="height:400px;width:400px;background-image:url(/images/images/logo.gif);"> </div> <br /> <br /> <div id="test" style="height:400px;width:400px;"> </div> <script type="text/javascript" src="/javascripts/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $("#test").css('background-image',"url(/images/images/logo.gif)"); alert(document.getElementById('test').style.backgroundImage); }); </script> </body> </html>

  • catching an event in VBScript

    - by be here now
    Hi, guys. This is a VBS script that opens google, fills a form, and clicks a search button. set ie = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") ie.navigate("www.google.com") ie.visible = true while ie.readystate <> 4 wscript.sleep 100 WEnd set fields = ie.document.getelementsbyname("q") set buttons = ie.document.getelementsbyname("btnG") fields(0).value = "some query" buttons(0).click ie.quit Sub OnClickSub() MsgBox "button clicked!", 0 End Sub Obviously, buttons(0).click fires an onclick event of the button, which I somehow need to catch in my script, and provide it with some processing like launching OnClickSub(). Has anyone got any ideas how this should be done?

    - by Khushi
    I have a default page which loads different controls on pageload according to the querystring. • Testing whether an event has happened after a period of time in jQuery

    - by chrism
    I'm writing a script for a form-faces xforms product that is keyed off an event built into form faces. The event is called 'xforms-ready'. I have define 'startTime' as happening as soon as the document in 'ready'. What I want the script to do is warn the user that it is taking too long before the 'xforms-ready' happens, say if it's been 6 seconds since 'startTime'. I can easily do things when the 'xforms-ready' event happens using the code below: new EventListener(document.documentElement, "xforms-ready", "default", function() { var endTime = (new Date()).getTime(); } ); however the warning will want to happen before 'endTime' is defined. So I guess I want something that works like this: If 6 seconds has passed since startTime and endTime is not yet defined do X or possibly more efficiently: If 6 seconds has passed since startTime and 'xforms-ready' has not yet happened do X Can anyone suggest a way of doing this?

  • Content organizer auto create folder has wrong time in sharepoint 2010

    - by user208628
    Hi, I have a problem, I am using the content organizer feature to redirect document on upload and the auto create folder feature of it, the property used is a date set by the user when the document gets uploaded. My problem is that when the folder gets created it writes the time set by the user minus two hours, I see that it uses GMT time while everything on the server, the site and the computers is set to UTC+2, so how come it still uses GMT time ? Can someone help me out please. Thank you.

  • Why do most Database developers hate Agile

    - by Calm Storm
    To me "Agile" methodology is a common-sense oriented approach and one that should likely be adopted for most software projects. I find that while a lot of Middle Tier Developers and Front End developers find it a very sensible project delivery model, plenty of Database developers (and good ones) seem to be totally against it. They are very keen on knowing the biggest picture and designing a database solution that will cater to that. They do not seem to like "Vertical striping" of a functionality. They would rather see the complete design document/feature document instead of concentrating on small user stories. Sarcasm aside, can someone realistically provide some insight as to why this mentality is prevalent? Especially DB devs? What would be a convincing argument against that?

  • Java Program Compiles and Runs, but doesn't work

    - by Richard Long
    When I run this program I enter information in a text box, push the search button, but nothing happens. The program just sits there until I press Cntrl C to break it. It looks like it should work, but I can't figure out what is hanging the program up. Here is the code: First class: import java.io.*; import java.awt.*; import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.event.*; import java.util.*; public class NameGameFrame extends JFrame { public static String name; static JTextField textfield = new JTextField(20); static JTextArea textarea = new JTextArea(30,30); public static String num; public static String [] fields; public static int [] yearRank; public static boolean match; public static int getInts, marker, year, max; public static void main( String[] args) { JFrame frame = new JFrame(); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); frame.setTitle("Name Game"); frame.setLocation(500,400); frame.setSize(800,800); JPanel panel = new JPanel(new GridBagLayout()); GridBagConstraints c = new GridBagConstraints(); JLabel label = new JLabel("Enter the Name or Partial Name to search:"); c.gridx = 0; c.gridy = 0; c.insets = new Insets(2,2,2,2); panel.add(label,c); c.gridx = 0; c.gridy = 1; panel.add(textarea,c); JButton button = new JButton("Search"); c.gridx = 1; c.gridy = 1; panel.add(button,c); c.gridx = 1; c.gridy = 0; panel.add(textfield,c); frame.getContentPane().add(panel, BorderLayout.NORTH); frame.pack(); frame.setVisible(true); button.addActionListener(new ActionListener() { public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae) { name = textfield.getText(); java.io.File file = new java.io.File("namesdata.txt"); try { Scanner input = new Scanner(file); num = input.nextLine(); NameRecord nr = new NameRecord(name); while (input.hasNext()) { if(match = num.toLowerCase().contains(name.toLowerCase())) { nr.getRank(); nr.getBestYear(marker); } } } catch(FileNotFoundException e) { System.err.format("File does not exist\n"); } textarea.setText(fields[0]); } }); } } This is the second class: import java.io.*; import java.util.*; public class NameRecord { public NameRecord( String name) { } public static int getBestYear(int marker) { switch (marker) { case 1: year = 1900; break; case 2: year = 1910; break; case 3: year = 1920; break; case 4: year = 1930; break; case 5: year = 1940; break; case 6: year = 1950; break; case 7: year = 1960; break; case 8: year = 1970; break; case 9: year = 1980; break; case 10: year = 1990; break; case 11: year = 2000; break; } return year; } public static int getRank() { fields = num.split(" "); max = 0; for (int i = 1; i<12; i++) { getInts = Integer.parseInt(fields[i]); if(getInts>max) { max = getInts; marker = i; } } return max; } }

  • "input cannot be resolved" when added a try..catch

    - by Mark
    I originally tried to get my throw statement to work without a try catch and the userInput = input.nextInt(); line worked fine. But when I tried adding the try..catch it didn't like my input saying it cannot be resolved. I don't think my try..catch is correct yet but I am planning on tackling that after I can get this input to be recognized but I would appreciate any feedback on things you see with that as well. Thanks import java.util.Scanner; public class Program6 { public static void main(String[] args) { final int NUMBER_HIGH_LIMIT = 100; final int NUMBER_LOW_LIMIT = 10; int userInput; try { System.out.print("Enter a number between 10 and 100: "); userInput = input.nextInt();//Says input cannot be resolved Verify v = new Verify(NUMBER_HIGH_LIMIT, NUMBER_LOW_LIMIT); } catch(NumberHighException exception) { userInput = 0; } catch(NumberLowException exception) { userInput = 0; } } }

  • jQuery: selecting by class after class change by .addClass() or .attr()

    - by Sosh
    I have some jQuery code something like this: $(document).ready(function() { $("img.off").click(function() { alert('on'); $(this).attr('class', 'on'); }); $("img.on").click(function() { alert('off'); $(this).attr('class', 'off'); }); }); The selector works fine for images that have the class name defined in the original HTML document, however after manipulating the class name with jQuery, the img item will not respond to selectors using it's new class. In other words, running the above code, if you click an 'off' img, it will trigger the first function, and change the class to 'on'. However, clicking this image again does not trigger the second function (as I would have expected), but rather triggers the first again. It's as if the selector is reading the old DOM rather than the updated version. What am I doing wrong here? Firefox 3.6.3 - jQuery 1.4.2

  • Why is FF on OS X loosing jQuery-UI in click event handler?

    - by Jean-François Beauchamp
    In a web page using jQUery 1.7.1 and jQUery-UI 1.8.18, if I output $.ui in an alert box when the document is ready, I get [object Object]. However when using Firefox, if I output $.ui in a click event handler, I get 'undefined' as result. With other browsers (latest versions of IE, Chrome and Safari), the result is still [object Object] when clicking on the link. Here is my HTML Page: <!doctype html> <html> <head> <title></title> <script src="Scripts/jquery-1.7.1.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="Scripts/jquery-ui-1.8.18.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { alert($.ui); // ALERT A $(document).on("click", ".dialogLink", function () { alert($.ui); // ALERT B return false; }); }); </script> </head> <body> <a href="#" class="dialogLink">Click me!</a> </body> </html> In this post, I reduced to its simplest form another problem I was having described here: $(this).dialog is not a function. I created a new post for the sake of clarity, since the real question is different from the original one now that pin-pointed where the problem resided. UPDATE: IF I replace my alerts with simply alert($); I get this result for alert A: function (selector, context) { return new jQuery.fn.init(selector, context, rootjQuery); } and this one for alert B: function (a, b) { return new d.fn.init(a, b, g); } This does not make sense to me, although I may not be understanding well enough what $ is... UPDATE 2: I can only reproduce this problem using Firefox on OS X. On Firefox running on Windows 7, everything is fine.

  • How do I clear a WebView's content before loading a page?

    - by Mark
    I have an embedded WebView in my Cocoa application in which I load an external web page. Each time the user clicks on a button, the view opens and shows the page. The problem is that the second time the user opens the WebView, the previous page is still visible. Instead I'd like to show a blank/empty page (together with a progress indicator). How can I clear a WebView before loading a new page? The closest solution I could find was to call this: [webView stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString:@"document.open();document.close()"]; Is there a better way to do this? Thanks!

  • Noptepad++ Gripes Around File Reloading And Window Numbers

    - by ChloeRadshaw
    I ve started using Notepad++ moving over from TextPad I have two main gripes: 1) Can you actually see all the files open in your Notepad++ in a document explorer view like you could with TextPad? 2) Can you configure Notepad++ to only update files open if that file is the active document? Often I have ten log files open and I want to see when they get modified when I click on them 3) Can you control window numbers? Sometimes I look at two files and I always used to switch between them by doing Window - 1 and then Window - 2. With notepad++ a window number seems to assigned and never changes

  • SVG Using Adobe in IE doesn't work when loading page, but saving the page and then loading it works.

    - by Nick
    So I'm trying to get a SVG document to load in IE. I can see it fine, but all calls to .getSVGDocument() fail, the svg onload="onload()" function never gets called and the right-click Adobe SVG Viewer context menu doesn't show up when right-clicking on the svg. It seems as though I'm managing to crash the adobe SVG viewer or something before it is able to call the onload function but after it has drawn the SVG document. As a test I saved the html page to my hard drive and loaded it up and walla - it works! Right-click, onload, and .getSVGDocument() all work. Very curious. For some reason getting the page from the server makes the adobe plugin crap out but loading up static HTML is fine. Any thoughts?

  • Can I grant explicit Javascript methods to a different-host iframe?

    - by Matchu
    I'm thinking about a system in which I allow users to create Javascript-empowered widgets for other users to embed in their dashboard on my website. I'd like to limit these widgets fairly strictly, so each would exist as an iframe kept on its own unique hostname: the widget with ID #47 would be accessible at w47.widgets.example.com, for example. It would be helpful, for permission-granting dialogs and the like, to allow the widget to call very specific methods explicitly granted by the parent window, without authorizing the iframe to do whatever it likes with the parent frame on the user's behalf. Is it possible for a parent document to explicitly allow certain method calls to a child document on a different host?

  • Change the value of a dropdown if it is equal to something

    - by Jake Neal
    Sorry if this question has already been asked and answered, but I couldn't find anything specifically for my needs. I have a form that has placeholders and javascript to make sure the form isn't submitted with the placeholders still there. There is a dropdown box that has the value of 'Best time to call'. What I want to do is if this value is passed as the default, I want it to change to something like "n/a" or a blank value. I have achieved this with the comments box using the following javascript, but it doesn't seem to work the same for the dropdown: var comments=document.getElementById('comments').value; if (comments=="Comments") { document.getElementById('comments').value=""; } This isn't a required field so I can't have an alert come up, so I just need to value to be changed if submitted as 'Best time to call'. Hope I have explained everything correctly

  • Is this a correct iText design?

    - by Lucas
    I´m making some pdf reports to be used on a web app. I wonder if the way I´m taking to make the designs is appropriated. This would be a screenshot of the way I´m doing the things. As you can see, I´m using tables to position everything in the document. I think this is a pretty much similar design to HTML. But I want to know is there is a better way to get the same result I got. This is the document without cell borders: I could post the code if necessary. By the way, why should I spend long hours programming these kind of stuff with iText tool when I could do things faster and maybe better looking with iReport? I like iText, it´s just a question. Sorry for my english and thanks!

  • how do you get the response back into the instance of the object?

    - by randomdev
    If you've written a class in JavaScript that calls a remote service's API, and that remote API offers a callback, how do you get the response back into the instance of the object that made the request? I'll try to give you a very basic example FOO for making cross domain calls to BAR service which offers a callback. Please ignore the usual security concerns, (I own both servers). function FOO() { this.response = null; this.execute = function(url) { var script = document.createElement('script'); script.src = url; document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(script); } this.catch = function(response) { this.response = response; } } var sample = new FOO(); sample.execute('http://barservices.com/sample/?callback={ plshelphere: this.catch}'); I have a way to make this work, but I'm curious if there is an "accepted approach" here. Anyone have thoughts for me?

  • wrong font in a RichTextBox importing from .rtf

    - by giacomellow
    Hi all, I'm developing a microsoft surface application using expression blend+vs 2008. I have a RichTextBox that loads formatted text from an .rtf file. The text is formatted with uppecases, color, and specific font (helvetica-neue). When i load the text, it is displayed in the control with matching format (color and uppecase) but NOT matching font. it seems to use the standard Blend font (Thaoma). the text is loaded with this function: public static RichTextBox SetRTFText(string text, RichTextBox richTextBox) { MemoryStream stream = new MemoryStream(ASCIIEncoding.Default.GetBytes(text)); TextRange documentTextRange = new TextRange(richTextBox.Document.ContentStart, richTextBox.Document.ContentEnd); documentTextRange.Load(stream, DataFormats.Rtf ); return richTextBox; } thank you all!

  • Javascript Replace Child/Loop issue

    - by Charles John Thompson III
    I have this really bizarre issue where I have a forloop that is supposed to replace all divs with the class of "original" to text inputs with a class of "new". When I run the loop, it only replaces every-other div with an input, but if I run the loop to just replace the class of the div and not change the tag to input, it does every single div, and doesn't only do every-other. Here is my loop code, and a link to the live version: live version here function divChange() { var divs = document.getElementsByTagName("div"); for (var i=0; i<divs.length; i++) { if (divs[i].className == 'original') { var textInput = document.createElement('input'); textInput.className = 'new'; textInput.type = 'text'; textInput.value = divs[i].innerHTML; var parent = divs[i].parentNode; parent.replaceChild(textInput, divs[i]); } } }

  • Annoying Bug in banner cycle

    - by Davemof
    I have created a rotating banner script for a new site I'm developing View banner here(it rotates every 10 seconds) Unfortunately to the transition seems to be a biut buggy, and the image will fade out, show the same image again and then fade in the new one. I think I have made a simple error somewhere, but can't figure out where it is. the code used to cycle the banners is: In document ready: if ($('.home').length > 0){ $('<img width="100%" />').attr('src', '/assets/img/backgrounds/home/hero'+homecount+'.jpg').load(function(){ $('.hero').append( $(this) ); $('.hero img').fadeIn('medium').delay(10000).fadeOut('slow', loopImages); setHeroHeight(); }); } Outside document ready: function loopImages(){ homecount = homecount+1; if (homecount > 5){ homecount = 1; } $('.hero img') .attr('src', '/assets/img/backgrounds/home/hero'+homecount+'.jpg') .load(function(){ $('.hero img').fadeIn('fast')}).delay(10000).fadeOut('slow', loopImages); } Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Dave
