  Now is a perfect time for Partners to approach existing OBI 10g customers, to encourage and help them to upgrade to all the great new features in the current OBI v 11g; including the ability to go Mobile, to be in-memory on Exalytics, and to get tighter integration with Hyperion applications, Strategic Scorecards and Essbase. Oracle Lifetime Support Policy for Oracle BI Suite, version 10gR3, will end ‘normal’ support in July 2013.   Hi again, I thought I would improve on the previous post by actually putting a decent about of content into the Filetable - this time I used the opensource DMOZ Health document repository which contains 5,880 files inside 220 folders. The files are all html and are pretty small in size. The entire document collection is about 120Mb unzipped and 30Mb zipped. • How can I store all my level data in a single file instead of spread out over many files?

  I am currently generating my level data, and saving to disk to ensure that any modifications done to the level are saved. I am storing "chunks" of 2048x2048 pixels into a file. Whenever the player moves over a section that doesn't have a file associated with the position, a new file is created. This works great, and is very fast. My issue, is that as you are playing the file count gets larger and larger. I'm wondering what are techniques that can be used to alleviate the file count, without taking a performance hit. I am interested in how you would store/seek/update this data in a single file instead of multiple files efficiently.

  E-Business Suite 11.5.10 Sustaining Support Exception & 12.1 Extended Support Now to Dec. 2018 [ID 1495337.1] As part of Oracle’s continued commitment to our customers, we will be providing an exception for the first 13 months of Sustaining Support on Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11.5.10 (11i10), valid from December 1, 2013 – December 31, 2014. This exception support will be comprised of three components: (1) new fixes for Severity 1 production issues, (2) United States Form 1099 2013 year-end updates, and (3) payroll regulatory updates for the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia for fiscal years ending in 2014.  In addition, the Extended Support period for E-Business Suite Release 12.1 has been extended through December, 2018. Customers with an active Oracle Premier Support for Software contract will automatically be entitled to Extended Support deliverables for E-Business Suite 12.1. Please refer to the Lifetime Support section of oracle.com for further information regarding Oracle's Lifetime Support Policy for Applications. • What is the most complicated data structure you have used in a practical situation?

  The germ for this question came up from a discussion I was having with couple of fellow developers from the industry. Turns out that in a lot of places project managers are wary about complex data structures, and generally insist on whatever exists out-of-the-box from standard library/packages. The general idea seems to be like use a combination of whats already available unless performance is seriously impeded. This helps keeping the code base simple, which to the non-diplomatic would mean "we have high attrition, and newer ones we hire may not be that good". So no bloom filter or skip-lists or splay trees for you CS junkies. So here's the question (again): Whats the most complicated data structure you did or used in office? Helps get a sense of how good/sophisticated real world software are.

  What options are there for saving game data in a secure manner? I'm interested in solutions specifically tailored for C++. I'm looking for something that is fast and easy to use. I'm only concerned about storing simple information such as Which levels are and are not unlocked The user's score for each level I'm curious again to know what's out there to use, any good libraries to use that give me nice, secure game data files that the average player can't mess with. I just found this here which looks very nice, but it would be great to get some opinions on potential other libraries/options out there.

  I have a general question about creating a drawing application, the language could be C++ or ObjectiveC with OpenGL. I would like to hear what are the best methods and practices for storing strokes data. Think of the many iPad apps that allow you to draw with your finger (or a stylus) or any other similar function on a desktop app. To summarize, the data structure must: be highly responsive to the movement store precise values (close in space / time) usable for rendering the strokes with complex textures (textures based on the dynamic of the stroke etc) exportable to a text file for saving/loading

  I have server objects that have corresponding client objects. The data to be kept in sync is inside the server object's key/value dictionary. To keep the client objects in sync with the sever objects, I want the server to send the key/value dictionary every frame for each object. What data-structure/algorithm will allow me to send a list of key/value dictionaries using the least amount of bits? Bonus constraint 1: For each type of object, the values of some keys change more often than others. Bonus constraint 2: Memory usage on the server side is relatively expensive.

  I'm working on extracting the sentiment from YouTube comments, blogs, news content, Facebook wall posts, and Twitter feeds. I'm looking for an automated way to do this: the two third-party solutions I've found have been AlchemyAPI and RapidMiner. Are these the best way to approach this project, or should I be using something else? Is there a more efficient way to approach sentiment analysis? What techniques have worked for you in a project like this?

• Algorithm for optimal combination of two variables

  I'm looking for an algorithm that would be able to determine the optimal combination of two variables, but I'm not sure where to start looking. For example, if I have 10,000 rows in a database and each row contains price, and square feet is there any algorithm out there that will be able to determine what combination of price and sq ft is optimal. I know this is vague, but I assume is along the lines of Fuzzy logic and fuzzy sets, but I'm not sure and I'd like to start digging in the right field to see if I can come up with something that solves my problem.

• Mahout - Clustering - "naming" the cluster elements

  I'm doing some research and I'm playing with Apache Mahout 0.6 My purpose is to build a system which will name different categories of documents based on user input. The documents are not known in advance and I don't know also which categories do I have while collecting these documents. But I do know, that all the documents in the model should belong to one of the predefined categories. For example: Lets say I've collected a N documents, that belong to 3 different groups : Politics Madonna (pop-star) Science fiction I don't know what document belongs to what category, but I know that each one of my N documents belongs to one of those categories (e.g. there are no documents about, say basketball among these N docs) So, I came up with the following idea: Apply mahout clustering (for example k-mean with k=3 on these documents) This should divide the N documents to 3 groups. This should be kind of my model to learn with. I still don't know which document really belongs to which group, but at least the documents are clustered now by group Ask the user to find any document in the web that should be about 'Madonna' (I can't show to the user none of my N documents, its a restriction). Then I want to measure 'similarity' of this document and each one of 3 groups. I expect to see that the measurement for similarity between user_doc and documents in Madonna group in the model will be higher than the similarity between the user_doc and documents about politics. I've managed to produce the cluster of documents using 'Mahout in Action' book. But I don't understand how should I use Mahout to measure similarity between the 'ready' cluster group of document and one given document. I thought about rerunning the cluster with k=3 for N+1 documents with the same centroids (in terms of k-mean clustering) and see whether where the new document falls, but maybe there is any other way to do that? Is it possible to do with Mahout or my idea is conceptually wrong? (example in terms of Mahout API would be really good) Thanks a lot and sorry for a long question (couldn't describe it better) Any help is highly appreciated P.S. This is not a home-work project :)
