  • Why Windows Live Photo Gallery stopped displaying thumbnails, and how to fix it?

    I now get this instead, for most (but not all) photos. This is the icon which represents the WLPG application, I think. Some observations: I can see the thumbnails fine in Explorer, which is where a lot of other people have this problem. My C:\ drive may have temporarily filled up at some point recently, but then was cleaned up. Double-clicking on the photo will display it fine, so I know it's not file corruption or permissions issues. Thanks

  • How can I prevent Windows Update from crashing my computer?

    I have Automatic Updates enabled and every now and then I'll get that little pop-up window that nags me to reboot to complete the update process. Usually, I ignore it and after 2 days my computer crashes. It crashes by freezing all the programs, including Windows Explorer, to the point that I can't even use CTRL-Alt-Delete (and my mouse lags). I'm pretty sure it's Windows Updates that is causing this. So, for now, I've disabled Windows Updates.

    Hi All, I will be happy if someone clear doubt, i can see objects in view by using <%= debug @object % and lot of methods is there apart from view like .to_yml, etc Is there any method available for seeing the converted sql from ActiveRecord method in view, etc. Although I can find it in console but it will confuse when we run multiple queries.. example: User.find :all it will produce "SELECT * FROM users;" in output console But i want it in view are any other specific point like yml , etc ?   • Is it possible to run multiple mongod instances on a single set of database files

    We have large multi-gigabyte data sets on which we run very complex queries, for example { $or: [ { id: 30000001, ... }, { id: 30000005, ... }, ..., { id: 30001005, ... } ] } It seems that CPU is actually a bottleneck at this point, so I'd be advantageous to be able to run multiple mongod instances on the same set of database files. We've considered using replica sets to this end, but would prefer to not require the extra disk space simply for CPU reasons.

  • 403 Forbidden for web root on Apache on Mac OS X v10.7, but can access user directories

    When I access http://localhost/ I get 403 Forbidden, but if I access http://localhost/~username it serves up pages. Things I've tried: Checking error logs Swapping out with original httpd conf files Changing DocumentRoot to my user directory (after all that should work if I can access ~username) I've seen 30 plus Q&A sites that all point to people having trouble with user directories being forbidden. I have the opposite problem, and so I'm tearing my hair out here.

This includes our Sharepoint databases, while looking into moving the databases I found the Microsoft documentation for moving Sharepoint 2007, however have not been able to find anything similar for Sharepoint 2003.     So far I used trap " call function" 2 fucntion { ./test.sh exit } but it never reaches the exit line and a whole bunch of process piles up any one got any idea? I tried & (bg) but i need to be able to keep doing it , the bg only allows me to do it once The point of it is when i type ctrl C it should terminate the original test.sh but it should also call itself before terminating hence create a new process.

    I store my music on an external hard drive, and play them with foobar2k. However, the drive letter changes, which usually means I need to rebuild a fairly large playlist every so often. I'm wondering if there's a way to reserve a drive letter for a specific external device (or type of device) by device ID or volume name, or if I'm better off using a NTFS mount point, and re-mounting the drive to a folder each time. I'm using either a Windows XP or 7 system, and the external drive is NTFS.

  • Can an entire mailbox of deleted items be recovered in Office 365?

    Recently an employee deleted their entire mailbox before leaving the company and there was no litigation hold in place. Is there any way to recover all of the deleted items, preferably via a PowerShell script? We'd need to recover all of the folders, subfolders, and online archives. I realize we can recover emails one by one up to a point but this will take far too long to be feasible. Thanks in advance!

  • Is there a fix for Windows 8 Release Preview freezing intermittently on Macbook Air

    I've successfully installed Windows 8 x64 Release Preview on a 2010 Macbook Air (4GB/256GB). I was also able to install the Apple Boot Camp tools without incident, but the computer will intermittently freeze up completely (need a forced shutdown) for no apparent reason. As such, there is no logging information to help me troubleshoot this any further. I have no other software installed at this point; only the latest updates from Microsoft. Any ideas?

    What is the point of pruning old objects from Active Directory, especially computer accounts? If a computer is wiped or destroyed, then the stale computer account doesn't pose any security risk because it can't be used any more. And I can't imagine that stale objects affect performance very much, because if they aren't being changed then they aren't being replicated. So, what is the real motivation to keep Active Directory clean of stale objects?

  • Excel 2007: plot data points not on an axis/ force linear x-incrementation without altering integrity of non-linear data

    In Excel, how does one go about plotting points that don't have an x component that is an x-axis label? For example, in my graph, the x-components are derived from the cosine function and aren't linear, but Excel is displaying them as if .0016 to .0062 to .0135 is an equal incrementation. How would I change this so that the x-axis has an even incrementation without altering the integrity of the points themselves? In other words, how do I plot a point with an x component independent from the x-axis label?

Now, I sometimes face an issue where both machine PC and machine MAC have different versions of the same code, and I would like them to share a common source.     Suppose I want to burn just the 6000th byte(if thats not possible say the 10th sector) on a CDR without touching anyother region. Sounds possible but is there any tool to accomplish this. Yeah sure, there may be no clear point doing this but is this possible technically?. (Doesnt matter maintaining the CDFS, integrity or whatever standard here. Just the task.)     Is it possible (and how?) to change what the home directory is in a hosting environment? For instance, my current home directory is /home/accountname/, but I would like to develop a second version of the site in /home/accountname/cms/ (to avoid filename conflict, etc.), and then make the domain point there. Do I have to do that through the domain registrar, or can I do that in cPanel?

  • Is there a way to make Windows 8 delay loading the start screen until all startup programs have loaded?

    Currently Windows 8 will get to the start screen a good 10-15 seconds before my startup programs have loaded. Since these include my touchpad driver as well as a gamma correction program, I would prefer that they would load before this point. Is there anyway to do this - either by delaying Windows 8 showing the start screen, or perhaps by somehow having these programs run before reaching the login screen?
