    I'm going to rephrase this question. As it turns out the original answer wasn't definitive and problems were found. ======================================================================= In my app, I access my sqlite database at the following hard-coded location in my code: /data/data/com.mydomain.appname/databases/database.db If I turn ON copy protection in the Market Place, will my app still have access to this location? Or will I have to change it to something like: */data-private/*data/com.mydomain.appname/databases/database.db (or something like this) Since I have a Dev phone only, I have no way of testing to see if my app still functions normally after turning on copy protection.   • Documenting user scenarios and measuring/testing

    Please forgive me as I don't quite remember the exact terms for what I am talking about... hence my question. Recently I worked on a large Agile team where I encountered a method of defining user scenarios (much like user stories). These scenarios were a few very basic short sentences with keywords and a structure that could be understood by humans (especially project managers) and could also be coded against using some Java Framework (for verifying tests). The exact structure of this mini language used keywords like "when" and "and" or "if" which was how the framework parsed and verified the result. The purpose of this framework was to interface between management and the acceptance testing framework. So essentially management could write the tests themselves using English. The scenario went something like this: "When a user visits URL and User clicks on X Something happens (that can be measured)" Can anyone help me remember exactly what I am talking about? Many thanks

    I need to find the highest value from the database that satisfies a certain formatting convention. Specifically, I would like to fund the highest value that looks like EU999999 ('9' being any digit) select max(col) will return something like 'EUZ...' for instance that I want to exclude. The following query does the trick, but I can't produce this via Linq-to-SQL. There seems to be no translation for the isnumeric() function in SQL Server. select max(col) from table where col like 'EU%' and 1=isnumeric(replace(col, 'EU', '')) Writing a database function, stored procedure, or anything else of that nature is far down the list of my preferred solutions, because this table is central to my app and I cannot easily replace the table object with something else. What's the next-best solution?

  • JQuery Autocomplete - format listing and only return a part to the text box

    I'm using the JQuery Autocomplete and it's working just fine. I'm using it to allow someone to search for users out of a database by searching on last name or id number. Right now the drop down list that is created is the resultes of a SQL query and looks something like: $row_rst['lName'] . ', ' . $row_rst['fName'] . " - " . $row_rst['user'] . "|" . $row_rst['id'] which outputs something like: Jones, Henry - hjones Gibbons, Peter - pgibbons When I pick Henry the text box gets Jones, Henry - hjones and the hidden field gets his id. I'd like to format the drop down in columns if possible and only return Jones, Henry to the text box if possible. Are either of those options possible? I'm thinking it has to do with either formatItem(row) or formatResult(row) but I'm not sure and I can't seem to find how to go about this.

    I'm writing some unit tests in UnitTest++ and want to write a bunch of tests which share some common resources. I thought that this should work via their TEST_FIXTURE setup, but it seems to be constructing a new fixture for every test. Sample code: #include <UnitTest++.h> struct SomeFixture { SomeFixture() { // this line is hit twice } }; TEST_FIXTURE(SomeFixture, FirstTest) { } TEST_FIXTURE(SomeFixture, SecondTest) { } I feel like I must be doing something wrong; I had thought that the whole point of having the fixture was so that the setup/teardown code only happens once. Am I wrong on this? Is there something else I have to do to make it work that way?

  • Client-side templating frameworks to streamline using jQuery with REST/JSON

    I'm starting to migrate some html generation tasks from a server-side framework to the client. I'm using jQuery on the client. My goal is to get JSON data via a REST api and use this data to populate HTML into the page. Right now, when a user on my site clicks a link to My Projects, the server generates HTML like this: <dl> <dt>Clean Toilet</dt> <dd>Get off your butt and clean this filth!</dd> <dt>Clean Car</dt> <dd>I think there's something growing in there...</dd> <dt>Replace Puked on Baby Sheets</dt> </dl> I'm changing this so that clicking My Projects will now do a GET request that returns something like this: [ { "name":"Clean Car", "description":"I think there's something growing in there..." }, { "name":"Clean Toilets", "description":"Get off your butt and clean this filth!" }, { "name":"Replace Puked on Baby Sheets" } ] I can certainly write custom jQuery code to take that JSON and generate the HTML from it. This is not my question, and I don't need advice on how to do that. What I'd like to do is completely separate the presentation and layout from the logic (jquery code). I don't want to be creating DL, DT, and DD elements via jQuery code. I'd rather use some sort of HTML templates that I can fill the data in to. These templates could simply be HTML snippets that are hidden in the page that the application was loaded from. Or they could be dynamically loaded from the server (to support user specific layouts, i18n, etc.). They could be displayed a single time, as well as allow looping and repeating. Perhaps it should support sub-templates, if/then/else, and so forth. I have LOTS of lists and content on my site that are presented in many different ways. I'm looking to create a simple and consistent way to generate and display content without creating custom jQuery code for every different feature on my site. To me, this means I need to find or build a small framework on top of jQuery (probably as a plugin) that meets these requirements. The only sort of framework that I've found that is anything like this is jTemplates. I don't know how good it is, as I haven't used it yet. At first glance, I'm not thrilled by it's template syntax. Anyone know of other frameworks or plugins that I should look into? Any blog posts or other resources out there that discuss doing this sort of thing? I just want to make sure that I've surveyed everything out there before building it myself. Thanks!

    Hi, I'm just playing around with a dataset of my region generated by JOSM. I moved it into a mySQL DB with the 0.6 API scheme using Osmosis and now I'm desperately trying the following: I want to get all streets of a city. AFAIK there is no tag/relation in the OSM data to determine this so I tried it using a proximity search to get all nodes in a radius around a node representing the city center. Most of the time I looked at the approaches here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/574691/mysql-great-circle-distance-haversine-formula What I got is the following SQL code that should get me the closest 100 nodes around the node with id 36187002 and within a radius of 10km. set @nodeid = 36187002; set @dist = 10; select longitude, latitude into @mylon, @mylat from nodes where id=@nodeid limit 1; SELECT id, ( 6371 * acos( cos( radians(@mylon) ) * cos( radians( latitude ) ) * cos( radians( longitude ) - radians(@mylat) ) + sin( radians(@mylon) ) * sin( radians( latitude ) ) ) ) AS distance FROM nodes HAVING distance < @dist ORDER BY distance LIMIT 0 , 100; Well.. it doesn't work. :( I guess the main problem is that OSM lats/lons are multiplied by 10.000.000 and I don't know how I can correct this function to make it work.   • asp.net 2.0 session timeout

    I apologize in advance for this likely being asked before. I have an asp.net 2.0 web application and am trying to set the session timeout. My first attempt was to add this to the web.config. < sessionState mode="InProc" timeout="300" Users would tell me though that after about 20 minutes of being idle and then trying to do something again on the site they'd be redirected back to the login page. So now I'm trying timeout="60" in my < forms tag in the web.config. I also tried Session.Timeout=60 in my global.asax. Should these work? Do I need something else? Thank you for your time and help.

    I'm looking for a free face recognition library for a university project. I'm not looking for face detection. I'm looking for actual recognition. That means finding images that contain specified faces or libraries that calculate distances between specific faces. I'm using OpenCV for detecting the faces and a rough Eigenfaces Algorithm for the recognition now. But I thought there should be something out there with a better performance then a self written Eigenfaces Algorithm. I don't talk about speed as performance I'm looking for a library with better results as an simple Eigenfaces approach I took a look at faint but it seems the library is not very reusable for my own applications. I'm happy with a library in Python, Java, C++, C or something like that. The best thing would be if it can be run on a Windowsmachine

    Hi everyone, I'm working with Zen Cart for a client and I'm having a bit of trouble finding a practical, concise resource that gives reference to the most common template variables and overrides. This project is fairly superficial so that is all I need - but bonus points if you find something that goes a little bit deeper. Please note that I am looking for something that is 'at a glance', like a reference card. I have already looked at several books on Zen Cart, but most of them are designed for the end user or a sysadmin at most and leave much to be desired.

  • Debugging asp.net with firefox and visual studio.net - very slow compared to IE

    Debugging asp.net websites/web projects in visual studio.net 2005 with Firefox is loads slower than using IE. I've read something somewhere that there is a way of fixing this but i can't for the life of me find it again. Does anyone know what i'm on about and can point me in the right direction please? I prefer Firefox for debugging (firebug etc) hitting F5 when debugging with IE the browser launches really quickly and clicking around my web application is almost instant and when a breakpont is hit i get to my code straight away with no delays. hitting F5 when debugging with FireFox the browser launches really slowly (ok i have plugins that slow FF loading) but clicking around my web application is really really slow and when a breakpoint is hit it takes ages to break into code. i swear i've read something somewhere that there is a setting in Firefox (about:config maybe?) that when changed to some magic setting sorts all this out.

    There seems to be a problem with support for the Interactivity namespace of Blend 3 in the VS2010 xaml editor. I have the following installed: VS2010 Blend 3 + Blend 3 SDK I am trying to compile a demo project that is targeted at .Net 4 Client Profile and has a reference to System.Windows.Interactivity (in the Blend 3 folder). In the object browser everything appears to be fine. I can also access Interaction.Behaviours from code-behind, but if I put the namespace xmlns:i="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/2010/interactivity" in the xaml file and try to use it, the intellisense is blank. If I copy something in there anyway, the compiler says: The tag 'Interaction.Behaviors' does not exist in XML namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/2010/interactivity'. Do I need to install Blend 4 RC or something?

  • Is there any use for Bash scripting anymore?

    I just finished my second year as a university CS student, so my "real-world" knowledge is lacking. I learned Java my first year, continued with Java and picked up C and simple Bash scripting my second. This summer I'm trying to learn Perl (God help me). I've dabbled with Python a bit in the past. My question is, now that we have very readable, very writable scripting languages like Python, Ruby, Perl, etc, why does anyone write Bash scripts? Is there something I'm missing? I know my linux box has perl and python. Are they not ubiquitous enough? Is there really something that's easier to do in Bash than in some other hll?

    I've been doing things like this in the clean method: if self.cleaned_data['type'].organized_by != self.cleaned_data['organized_by']: raise forms.ValidationError('The type and organization do not match.') if self.cleaned_data['start'] > self.cleaned_data['end']: raise forms.ValidationError('The start date cannot be later than the end date.') But then that means that the form can only raise one of these errors at a time. Is there a way for the form to raise both of these errors?   • Chinese encoding issue while listing files

    I am running a Java application on a Solaris10 with Chinese. Now there are some files in a directory with chinese filenames. When I do files = new File(dir).list() where "dir" is the parent directory containing that chinese file, I get the result filename files[0] as ?????(some junk characters). Now the deal is that my programs file.encoding property is already set to GBK and I also do Charset.isSupported("GBK") and it returns true too. So where could be the problem. I am running out of ideas. NOTE: I am not trying to print the filename anywhere or copy the file or something. I am simply openeing a stream to it, something like below: files = new File(dir).list(); new FileInputStream(files[0]); Now this gives me a FileNotFoundExcpetion, so I debug just to find that value inside files[0] is "??????".

    Rails is doing my head in. I'm trying now to put something together to pull screen scraped data from site X through to client Y via a ruby script on server Z I don't want views, I just want the request to look like domain.com/action/method Inside routes.rb I have: match ':controller(/:action(/:id(.:format)))' But it still won't work. I just get ActionView::MissingTemplate in the log. Achtung! If I deliberately put a faulty method in that subsequently calls render - the log file indicates the method executed badly, so I don't think it's something wrong with the "action" controller.

  • Is there a suggested solution structure for ASP.NET MVC Production Apps

    In general, I don't like to keep code (BaseClasses or DataAccess Code) in the App_Code directory of an ASP.NET Site. I'll usually pull this stuff out into a MySite.BusinessLogic & MySite.DataAccess DLL's respectively. I'm wondering should I be doing the same for ASP.NET MVC. Would it be better to Organise the solution something along the lines of MySite.Common - DLL - (Basic Functionality built on .NET System Dlls) MySite.DAL - DLL - (DataAccessLayer & DBML Files) MySite.Models - DLL - (MVC Models e.g. Repository Classes) MySite.Controllers - DLL (MVC Controllers which use Models) MySite - ASP.NET MVC Site. Or am I missing something... presumably, I'll lose some of the nice (Add View, Go To Controller, context menu items that have been added)

    Hi: I'm having a problem using the UITabBarController and can't seem to get anywhere... maybe someone has run into something similar. I have the typical Tab Bar + Navigation app and everything is working great, except when I access options in the More tab.   • Break nested loop in Django views.py with a function

    I have a nested loop that I would like to break out of. After searching this site it seems the best practice is to put the nested loop into a function and use return to break out of it. Is it acceptable to have functions inside the views.py file that are not a view? What is the best practice for the location of this function?
