  Hello everyone, I'd like to setup postfix as an MTA for 2 domains, about 10 users each. I'm a bit confused with the documentation. Postfix has so many options for mail delivery. I'd like to have a simple file where I would store all the email addresses (and possibly their corresponding mailboxes). I wouldn't like neither system's passswd file nor mysql to be used for storing email users. What parts of documentation I should be focused on?

  In MySQL you have to authorized a user based on the name of the origin network. From my network to a remote one all connections appear as sent from mail.mycompany.com. But connections to another remote network it appears with a different origin. How to discover which name/ip it is using? I tried tcpdump and netstat in the destination but it is difficult to find my connection among billions of others. In my case the destination is a Windows Server 2003

  I would like to rewrite requests to http://www.mysite.com/foo to http://foo.mysite.com without the user's address bar changing. Using IIRF I can do the rewrite, but only if I use the [R] modifier flag which makes the rewrite a redirect. Is there a way for me to transparently rewrite requests to a subdomain? Here's the rewrite rule I've been testing with: RewriteRule ^/foo/(.*)?$ http://foo.mysite.com/index.html?$1 [R,L]

• How to Prevent Spotlight from Indexing Non-Apps in /Applications Directory?

  The only thing I need indexed in the /Applications folder are the .app files. Is there any way to setup a filter to have mds or Spotlight ignore everything in /Applications except .apps? Otherwise, would it be possible to setup a rule for Alfred to omit any non-.app records from /Applications? I still want documents indexed and returned, just not from that specific directory. OS X 10.6.8 if you're wondering.

For example, Empathy minimizes to the system tray (mail icon) when the close button is pressed in the application window. How do I make Evolution do this as well? Essentially I would like to have Evolution hidden in the system tray instead of having to re-launch it every ten minutes to check for new messages (or leave it open and clutter the taskbar).

  Currently in apache2.conf I have AllowOverride all set for /var/www which simply allows htaccess for all the sites on the server (which is Ubuntu, 9.04). However, I'd rather only allow overrides in each site root directory and nothing else. In other words, /var/www/site1, /var/www/site2, etc. can have a htaccess, but all other directories including /var/www and /var/www/site1/content cannot. Is there a way to do this without having to write a rule for every site on the server?

  Now that Windows Server 2012 comes with de-duplication features for NTFS volumes I am having a hard time finding technical details about it. I can deduce from the TechNet documentation that the de-duplication action itself is an asynchronous process - not unlike how the SIS Groveler used to work - but there is virtually no detail about the implementation (algorithms used, resources needed, even the info on performance considerations is nothing but a bunch rule-of-thumb-style recommendations). Insights and pointers are greatly appreciated, a comparison to Solaris' ZFS de-duplication efficiency for a set of scenarios would be wonderful.

  I have an .htaccess file with a rewrite rule to get a redirect of every HTTP request to HTTPS. But now I have a problem that my robots.txt is not recognized by some online checker. If I remove the redirect from the .htaccess file the robots.txt is recognized correctly. Maybe I should exclude that the robots.txt is redirects to an HTTPS connection?   I have custom domain with gmail, and successfully configured gmail account to receive mail in blackberry. However, after deleting the account, I am not able to configure again, and it keep on repeating same problem: invalid email account. I have changed the password, and also did unlocking of captcha many times, but it just doesn't connect with blackberry account. Can I get some advice?

  I'm having an issue where my Exchange Edge Transport server receives mail (found in logs) and then it vanishes, never ending up in the users mailbox, I have a edge subscription setup between it and the main Exchange server, how can I go about tracing the message to figure out what is broken? I also have found records of the message in the logs on the main Exchange server. Thanks a ton for any help Edit: If I change port 25 on my main router to point to the main exchange server as opposed to the Edge Transport, email comes through fine form external domains and delivered in the correct mailbox

• Windows XP x64 virtual machine (VMWare ESX) using only 2 CPUs (out of 4)

  I just converted a physical Windows XP x64 machine with 4 CPUs to a VMWare virtual machine with 4CPUs (on a ESX server) using the VMWare Standalone Converter. Everything worked just great, except that the OS now seems to use only 2 CPUs (when 4 are installed, see the following image). This must be a Windows XP issue rather than a VMWare issue, but I can not really rule out any reason at this stage. What can I do?

  I received a recommendation from my hosting provider noting that a general rule in production server management is to ensure that the memory on your database server is larger than the size of your total database. Our database is 1800mb (and growing) and we're being told to purchase a 2GB server. This didn't sit right with me, but I'm not an expert in production server management.   For monitoring purposes I would like to add the IP address to the Postfix smtpd_banner: smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $smtp_bind_address which works and outputs: 220 mail.mydomain.com ESMTP 123.456.789.0 Now I am wondering if there are any (negative) repercussions to expect. I couldn't find anything about it in the RFC docs. The Postfix docs add another parameter ($mail_name) in their example, so I think I am fine.   The clients can all connect through OpenVPN. OpenVPN serves the following pool: server 10.8.0.0 255.255.255.0 I've configured the server's iptable with the following rule: iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s 10.8.0.0/24 -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE and echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward This used to work back on the old vps I used. Now I've migrated to a vps which has ipv6 connectivity. Is it possible that Ipv6 has something to do with the fact that the clients can't reach the internet?

(Note: I know how to configure Thunderbird to automatically insert a signature when creating a new mail in a certain account. But if you delete the signature (accidentaly or not), how can you reinsert it? Or how can you insert it for an account which isn't configured to automatically insert a signature?)
