  • Google document does not print correctly on Mac 10.7.5 using Chrome

    When attempting to print a Google document, the header does not get printed at all and the text starts almost in the center of the page - cutting off almost half of the text in the printable area horizontally. The vertical alignment appears fine, with the exception of hte missing header. I have searched the product forums at Google, but they are virtually unusable. Endless threads without a solution! For reference, the document prints fine from Windows XP using Chrome. I can also print from other applications on the Mac without issue - so I am thinking it's a Google doc issue at this point.

  • Upgrade to java 1.7 in eclipse on mac

    I'm sort of a beginner with eclipse but I want to update the libraries or build path or whatever to java 1.7 from java 1.6 and I can't figure it out. I'm a computer science student at the university of washington and various TA's and students have tried to figure out this problem but it's stumped them all. I've installed java 1.7 from Oracle a few times already and the java section of system preferences says I have 1.7 but java -version in terminal says: java version "1.6.0_41" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_41-b02-445-11M4107) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.14-b01-445, mixed mode) What's going on here? My mac is totally up to date on everything else

  • VPN on PC vs Mac

    I am trying to connect to a VPN from my home computer, as opposed to my work computer which already has the network info set up. I have received instructions on connecting from a mac, but since I don't have that I'm trying to do the equivalent on my PC. I know the: server group name secret and my own login account and password Using the Windows 7 VPN, there's space for: Internet address destination name user name password domain (optional) I'm trying to determine what's what. I assume the internet address is the server. I've tried using the "secret" as the Password, b/c i'd think the first part is connecting to the VPN as opposed to logging in. It still wants a user name though. I tried mine, I tried the "group name". I would appreciate your help with this. Thanks!

  • messed System Files on Mac PPC

    My buddy deleted her System folder from her PPC Mac wanting to get that space for something else. She copied it first in another drive (she had partitioned disk).She haven't emptied the Trash Bin yet. The screen just froze right after she moved the folder to Trash. We tried to use the install disk but even if we try Power-C on booting,it would try to continue,display the apple logo page then quickly follow it with black screen filled with dumps of hex codes and "We are hanging here..." We have a Windows-based PC that we tried to connect using ethernet cable but we can't find her computer from there. What should we do now???

    Alas I find my self doing another book review... its not clear to me that I should continue to do that but on this particular book it heads in the right direction. As noted in an earlier post I find the idea of a cook book to be of particular interest and useful in my work with Silverlight. This book has gotten closer then any other to date in building the ideal Silverlight book. Albeit the book does make an attempt to teach Silverlight to some degree but it tends to be more of a reference book,...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors?   • Changing Chrome Working Directories on Mac clients

    We're using Mac OSX 10.6.8 with NFS for home directories. Chrome seems to not like this, for a user who is logged in more than one machine. AFP was ok, but for other reasons we need NFS. It only allows you to start one instance. Ie, userA logged in to Mac1, Mac2. Can only have chrome open on Mac1 OR mac2, not both. I have read at this thread, changing working directory, and sym link can fix... but I can't find the details. Can someone help?

  • Painfully slow login to AD bound Mac OS X Leopard machine when off home network

    Dear all Just looking for a little help with this problem that seems to trip a lot of people up and is causing me no end of grief. I have a number of fully patched OS X Leopard machines that are bound to my AD (Server 2003). When on the home network, logging in seems swift and works as expected. When users take the machines off site, login can take 5 minutes or more. The user adds correct credentials but the desktop does not appear for a very long time. Outside the office, I have tried logging in using a local Admin account, switching off Airport and then logging in using an AD account. In this situation login is immediate again. It all seems as if Leopard is finding a suitable wireless network, spending far too long looking for the Domain before eventually giving up and using the cached credentials instead. I have read that disabling Bonjour on the machine will stop this problem (i have not yet tested) http://www.macwindows.com/leopardAD.html#111607z ...but I am reluctant to use this "Solution" as I would like to be able to use Bonjour on the local network as well as having AD-bound machines. However, is disabling Bonjour really the only answer? Is there not some time-out setting somewhere that could be amended to stop Leopard spending forever looking for home?   • Mac always boots with incorrect display gamma (for years now including Lion)

    I think somewhere, something got installed but I have no idea what or how to fix it :( Basically, my old MacBook Pro running 10.5 Leopard had a problem where on boot it would show everything on the screen in a very sort of crunched color space. Everything below 15% white would just be pure black, everything above 85% white would be pure white and all colors look to be a touch more saturated. It's garish. To fix it, I found that I could boot into almost any fullscreen 3D game. When the game launches, the colors would still be off, but when I then quite the game and return the desktop everything is normal again. I've noticed Blizzard games work most reliably for this (World of Warcraft or Starcraft2). This problem has followed me through the years. When I upgraded to an iMac I migrated everything over to it, and the issue now happens on the iMac too. I then got a new MacBook Pro for work and migrated my iMac over to that, and it has the problem too. I had thought that it was an OS bug, but upgrading to 10.6 Snow Leopard didn't fix it and neither did 10.7 Lion. Furthermore I can't find any reference on any forum or help site where anyone else has this problem. If anyone has any idea what processes or settings or apps I should look at to figure out why this is happening I should would appreciate it! It looks sort of irresponsible when I open my laptop in the office to work and then boot up Starcraft 2 full screen...

This happens to be a polled driver, so obviously it hits the system hard when either under lots of traffic or an error condition occurs and the driver constantly polls. I originally thought that there was no straightforward way to make such code interrupt driven in the kernel (as it's a cludge) but I realised that that's exactly what ETHDBG drivers do. Is there any reason why I shouldn't have a go at implementing a similar mechanism for our kernel resident I2C driver? If not, are there any obvious pitfalls - I've not seen any other BSP's do this in the past... A: You can make a 'proper' driver that calls down into the OAL to do the actual I2C transactions. Alternatively you can build an interrupt-based version in the OAL where you handle everything in the ISR. There is nothing wrong with that so long as the rest of your drivers and app threads can handle longer times with interrupts off while you are servicing I2C interrupts.     I have a inherited Listview which standard has to be in Tile Mode. When using this control, the DrawItem gives e.bounds which are clearly bounds of largeIcon view ?? When debugging to check the view it is actually set to, it says it's in Tile view ?? Yet e.DrawText draws LargeIcon view ?? ......... Edit: ................. This seems only to happen when the control is placed upon another usercontrol? ......... Edit 2: ................. It gets stranger ... When i add buttons next to the list to change the view at runtime, "Tile" is the same as "LargeIcon", and "List" view is the same as "SmallIcons" ??? I've also completely removed the ownerdraw ... .......... Edit 3: ................. MSDN Documentation: Tile view Each item appears as a full-sized icon with the item label and subitem information to the right of it. The subitem information that appears is specified by the application. This view is available only on Windows XP and the Windows Server 2003 family. On earlier operating systems, this value is ignored and the ListView control displays in the LargeIcon view. Well I am on XP ya damn liars ?!?     I need to create a development environments with Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 on VMWare. Are there free (unrestricted) development type versions of those respective operating systems distributed by Microsoft? Or is there some kind of cheap software network/membership i can sign up for? Other companies like Oracle make this very easy to download dev copies of Solaris and OEL, but Microsoft seems a little too protective of their operating systems and don't make it easy.
