  • Has anyone used Ant4Eclipse with Project Lombok?

    Has anyone successfully used Ant4Eclipse (http://www.ant4eclipse.org/) in combination with Project Lombok (http://projectlombok.org/)? Lombok provides annotations for removing boilerplate code; however, it doesn't appear to play nicely with Ant4Eclipse (headless compilation of Eclipse projects). For instance, the following Lombok sample compiles fine in Eclipse and javac: import lombok.Getter; public class LombokTest { private @Getter String foo; public LombokTest() { String s = this.getFoo(); } } But compiling with Ant4Eclipse's <buildJdtProject> yields the following: [javac] Compiling 1 source file [javac] ---------- [javac] 1.     I'm considering building a Church Management System (ChMS), essentially a CRM, but specifically tailored for churches. I've looked at several existing CRM and open source ChMS solutions but have not been satisfied with any of them. Before I start writing something from the ground up - I was wondering if anyone was aware of an open source asp.net application that might be a good fit for this project? Particularly, the application needs to perform CRUD and optimally allow for dynamic user-based creation/editing of fields associated with contacts etc.

  • Web-Frameworks for Education Management Systems?

    So, I'm working on an idea and I'll go into a brief overview of that but my question is, What are some good web frameworks for this situation? I have some experience in the following languages: C# Python I have considerably more experience in C# than Python, however I am expecting to learn new things. My idea is this, a completely web-based community-oriented Education Management System that focuses on making students and teachers day-to-day lives easier. For students it will provide a centralized place for them to do homework, study for tests, and reinforce concepts learned previously in class. For teachers it will give them a centralized place to handle assignments, attendance, homework, tests, and all other major parts of classroom management. All of that, but in a community-oriented fashion. Everything a teacher does is shared and open to constructive criticism, allowing other teachers to use their assignments/tests and for students or other teachers to comment, rate and criticize their assignments. This encourages an environment of openness that will allow teacher's to focus on teaching and student's to focus on learning. And that community wouldn't be limited to one school or school-district, this system would be completely school-independent. Please note that I have no problem with hearing constructive criticism on this idea, however I would prefer if this post was more focused on my question. I have somewhat explored about the following options: Django ASP.NET Ruby on Rails Silverlight (1) I have Django installed and I played with it for a little bit, I really like how easy setting up databases are and how it handles the database completely for you. I don't really know how to use it very well and I don't quite understand the Model-View-Controller paradigm(?) for it yet but I haven't thought about it much. I also like the fact that it uses Python. (2) I don't really like Visual Studio for developing in ASP.NET, I hate the way the web-designer works and it just feels clunky and old. I like the server-side development part though. I don't like how expensive ASP.NET and overall Visual Studio is, even if I do get it for free for now using DreamSpark (3) I haven't been able to explore much with this, I could not get Rails (or maybe Ruby) properly installed. I first installed it within RadRails and that didn't work so I uninstalled RadRails and then installed the latest version of Ruby off the official Windows Installer and then installed Ruby on Rails through gem and even after all that it still didn't work, so I installed Netbeans and attempted to use it there but it still did not work (4) I like Silverlight in some extents, I've played with this one the most, it's very similar to WPF (which I've used the most) in a lot of ways but I don't like how database connectivity works, at least in comparison to Django. I also dislike how expensive everything with Microsoft is, even if I get it for free for now with DreamSpark. I would like to hear some suggestions from experienced web-developers as to what I should use and why, or at least what some good options are for my scenario Your help would be very appreciated

    What are the best options for real-time collaborative editing for .NET development? (C#,VB.NET, ASP.NET - not Mono unless it is the best way to get collaboration) 1) Anything possible with visual studio? 2) Collaborative editors? I know Eclipse has real-time collaboration, but I don't know how far you can combine it with .NET support. 3) Web-based tools? 4) Desktop sharing tools like VNC, NX etc. The main points is that 2 developers in different locations should be able to see edits in real time. Both should be able to edit, or it should be easy to switch control. Regarding .NET, syntax highlighting etc is better than nothing.

    I want to benchmark a new server using historical HTTP-request data. I have a textfile that contains one day's worth of real historical requests to a production server. What is the best tool for sending that list of requests on the server I'm testing? The tool I use should be able to configure the following: Number of threads making the requests Number of requests/second sent A list of request URLs to use when making the requests. Apache Bench seems like a close fit. However, Bench does not seem to be able to take in a list of request URLs as a parameter. What would you recommend?

    I built a Visual Studio 2008 setup Project wich depends on .NET 3.5. I added Prerequisites like: .NET 3.5, Microsoft office interoperability, VS tools for office System 3.0 Run time, .etc. After that Selected "Download Prerequisite from Same location as my application" in Specify install location for Prerequisite. I Built the setup and found mysetup.msi in Release directory. In a new machine I started fresh installation of my application. A dialog shows like this "This Setup Requires .NET framework 3.5 , Please install .NET setup then run this setup, .NET Framework can be obtained from web Do you want to do that now?" it gives "Yes" and "No" option - if I press yes it goes to Microsoft website. How can avoid it? I wanted setup take .NET Framework to be installed from same location where I put all setup files including mysetup.msi? In case of quiet installation cmd /c "msiexec /package mysetup.msi /quiet /log install.log" ..in log I can see only half way through installation then error Property(S): HideFatalErrorForm = TRUE MSI (s) (D0:24) [00:07:08:015]: Product: my product-- Installation failed. === Logging stopped: 3/23/2010 0:07:08 === How can complete I the installation without user intervention and without error using VS2008 setup project?   • jQuery ajax not preloading images

    I have a list of galleries, when you click on the title of a gallery it pulls in the contents (HTML with images). When the content is pulled in it preloads the html but not the images, any ideas?   • How to install Eclipse + PHP Development Tools (PDT) + Debugger on Mac in The Year 2010

    I had a lot of trouble installing Eclipse and PDT on my system. It took two days, largely because all the tutorials I could find were out of date (written in 2008, it's 2010 now) and various steps they included were no longer necessary, broken, or irrelevant. I wanted to write my process here so it could be improved upon (via wiki) as time goes on. Install Eclipse without PHP plugin ("Eclipse Classic"). This will give you a complete Eclipse, which I find preferable, as the UI is more fleshed out (e.g. you get a default list of Perspectives, which helps you understand what Perspectives are.) Install PDT SDK with the Help Install New Software menu item. You'd think you'd be done here, but if you try to run something, it'll fail complaining of not having a debugger. Install the Zend Debugger. It'll fail if you try to use the Install New Software option, as many tutorials suggest ("No repository found containing osgi.bundle.org.zend.php.debug.debugger.5.3.7.v20091116".) Instead, download it from http://www.zend.com/en/community/pdt, and manually copy the features/ and plugins/ directory into your Eclipse install (these instructions are not written anywhere). Restart Eclipse Monkey with preferences for a while -- if you followed a previous tutorial and tried to manually add your php executable to Eclipse prefs (/usr/bin/php), remove it (PHP PHP Executables). Set one of the Zend Debugger executables to the default. If you've already tried to execute a .php file, remove the existing "Run" profile you (maybe weren't aware that you) created (Run Debug Configurations...). Eclipse works! You should be able to run a .php file as a script just fine.

  • django - variable declared in base project does not appear in app

    I have a variable called STATIC_URL, declared in settings.py in my base project: STATIC_URL = '/site_media/static/' This is used, for example, in my site_base.html, which links to CSS files as follows: <link rel="stylesheet" href="{{ STATIC_URL }}css/site_tabs.css" /> I have a bunch of templates related to different apps which extend site_base.html, and when I look at them in my browser the CSS is linked correctly as <link rel="stylesheet" href="/site_media/static/css/site_tabs.css" /> (These came with a default pinax distribution.) I created a new app called 'courses' which lives in the ...../apps/courses folder. I have a view for one of the pages in courses called courseinstance.html which extends site_base.html just like the other ones. However, when this one renders in my browser it comes out as <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/site_tabs.css" /> as if STATIC_URL were equal to "" for this app. Do I have to make some sort of declaration to get my app to take on the same variable values as the project? I don't have a settings.py file for the app. by the way, the app is listed in my list of INSTALLED_APPS and it gets served up fine, just without the link to the CSS file (so the page looks funny).
