  • Flex ChangeWatcher bind to a negative condition

    I have a bindable getter in a component which informs me when a [hidden] timer is running. I also have a context menu which, if this timer is running, should disable one of the menu items. Is it possible to create a ChangeWatcher which watches for the negative condition of a bindable property/getter and changes the enabled property of the menu item? Here are the basic methods I'm trying to bind together: Class A: [Bindable] public function get isPlaying():Boolean { return (_timer != null) ? _timer.running : false; } Class B: private var _playingWatcher:ChangeWatcher; public function createContextMenu():void { //...blah blah, creating context menu var newItem:ContextMenuItem = new ContextMenuItem(); _playingWatcher = BindingUtils.bindProperty(newItem, "enabled", _classA, "isPlaying"); } In the code above, I have the inverse case: when isPlaying() is true, the menu item is enabled; I want it to only be enabled when the condition is false. I could create a second getter (there are other bindings which rely on the current getter) to return the inverse condition, but that sounds ugly to me: [Bindable] public function get isNotPlaying():Boolean { return !isPlaying; } Is this possible, or is there another approach I'm completely missing?

If I define a DynamicResource, I realise that an expression is created (where?) that is not translated into a resource until runtime, however, What I do not understans is whether this dynamicresouce, once built, is now "Static" For instance, if I create a context menu via a dynamicresource, are the menuitems which are created at runtime on access then static, even if they are bound?

  • In Javascript, is it true that function aliasing works as long as the function being aliased doesn't

    In Javascript, if we are aliasing a function, such as in: f = g; f = obj.display; obj.f = foo; all the 3 lines above, they will work as long as the function / method on the right hand side doesn't touch this? Since we are passing in all the arguments, the only way it can mess up is when the function / method on the right uses this? Actually, line 1 is probably ok if g is also a property of window? If g is referencing obj.display, then the same problem is there. In line 2, when obj.display touches this, it is to mean the obj, but when f() is invoked, the this is window, so they are different. In line 3, it is the same: when f() is invoked inside of obj's code, then the this is obj, while foo might be using this to refer to window if it were a property of window. (global function). So line 2 can be written as f = function() { obj.display.apply(obj, arguments) } and line 3: obj.f = function() { foo.apply(window, arguments) } Is this the correct method, and are there there other methods besides this?

So I have an UI that is composed of controls that all have their own context menu, but we also have a datagrid that get's nested inside our generic contaier. So when you right click the datagrid elements I want to show both the context items I've created for the datagrid and the items from the generic container.

  • getting a gridview and dropdownlist to remember their states after navigate away and back button scr

    hi i have a page filling a gridview which is all working fine. the grid is basically the result of a search .. the filters for which are a number of dropdowns and a couple of textboxes the data from the grid and dropdowns are saved in the session and the whole page lives inside an updatepanel when i navigate away from the page (as it happens by clicking a link inside the grid) and then back button to it, all the droppers are back to their unselected values and the grid is nowhere to be seen.. i understand that this is because of the scriptmanager doesnt do 'standard' postbacks so the browser doesnt realise what has happened. however i have set the EnableHistory to true in the scriptmanager is there an easy way to get this to remember without dropping the updatepanel/scriptmanager? also to complicate things further the scriptmanger /updatepanel is actually in a master page. so not really sure how i can get the navigate bits to work in the scriptmanager.. clearly i am a bit confuised and any help that someone could provide would be happily received thanks nat

    I'm having trouble using the Ribbon control from the Office 2007 RibbonControlsLibrary.dll. It works for most people but not for me. The fault I get is: Cannot create instance of 'Ribbon' defined in assembly 'RibbonControlsLibrary, Version=3.5.31016.1, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35'. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation The problem is probably not with the code since it works for other people. Its the Ribbon class thats causing the problem. If I remove any references to the Ribbon class but keep the references to RibbonWindow I don't get any exceptions. Any help appreciated

    (Using Visual Studio 2008, and Silverlight 3) -I've really looked around for this one, and now I'm just confused by all the solutions that simply won't work for me. I'm trying to call a WCF service from a Silverlight client, which is no problem, but I can't get the service to handle sessions (I want to remember a few things about the callee between calls) I've gathered that basicHttpBinding is no good for sessions, and I haven't managed to make wsHttpBinding work... what's the matter? I would have thought this was a pretty basic thing people would want in their WCF services, or am I just completely muddle-headed not to see how it can be done?

    I am working on a solution that used DDD for architecture. I have a property in my ViewModel which points to a ValueObject, the view model also implements INotifyPropertyChanged interface. The value of the ValueObject will change as a user enters data on the front end. The problem I am running into is the value object is suppose to be immutable. How can I work around this issue?   • How to find control points for a BezierSegment given Start, End, and 2 Intersection Pts in C# - AKA

    Hi, I've been struggling looking for an understandable way to do this. I have four points, a StartPt, EndPoint, and Intersection points to represent the peak and valley in the bezier. The BezierSegment in C# requires start, controlPoint 1, controlPoint 2, endpoint - however I don't have any control points I only have these two points that lie along the bezier curves (i'm calling them intersection points above)... how can I calculate the two control points? Thanks in advance, this has been driving me crazy. There's some kind of explanation here: http://www.tinaja.com/glib/nubz4pts1.pdf but it's written in postscript and that language makes no sense to me at all - it's over my head.

So I have to override the button proporties in the onApplyTemplate(). The question is now where do I retrieve a new integer and how do I do it? What I do not like about my current apporach: -Having a private method in repositry class because a repositry is to fetch data only not "entity logic" like the counter - Having to access from the ViewModel a public property - located in the repository -, actually its not the ViewModel concern to get a entity id and assign it. Actually the ViewModel should ask for a schoolclass POCO and get a SchoolclassModel to bind to the UI. But then I have again to re-read the Schoolclass properties into the SchoolclassModel properties what I want to avoid.

  • Refreshing a JPA result list which is bound with a jTable

    First off, I hage to write this on my mobile. But I'll try to format it properly. In Netbeans I created a jTable and bound it's values to a JPA result set. This works great. The qery contains a param which i set in the pre-create box of the "query result" component. So just before netbeans creates the query result i write this: myQuery.setParameter("year", "1997"); This works fine. Now, I have an event handler which is supposed to change the param and display the new values in the table. So I do this: myQuery.setParameter("year", "2005"); myResultList.clear(); myResultList.addAll(myQuery.getResultList()); jTable1.updateUI(); This works, but it feels wrong to me. Note: the result set is bound to the table. So I was hoping there was something like this: myQuery.setParameter("year", "2005"); myResultList.refresh(); Is there something like this?

  • IndexOutofRangeException while using WriteLine in nested Parallel.For loops

    I am trying to write kinect depth data to a text file using nested Parallel.For loops with the following code. However, it gives IndexOutofRangeException. The code works perfect if using simple for loops but it hangs the UI since the depth format is set to 640x480 causing the loops to write 307200 lines in the text file at 30fps. Therefore, I switched to Parallel. For scheme. If I omit the writeLine command from the nested loops, the code works fine, which indicates that the IndexOutofRangeException is arising at the writeline command. I do not know how to troubleshoot this. Please advise. Any better workarounds to avoid UI freezing?     I am trying to create an application bar in code for WinPhone7. The XAML that does it goes like this: <PhoneApplicationPage.ApplicationBar> <shellns:ApplicationBar Visible="True" IsMenuEnabled="True"> <shellns:ApplicationBar.Buttons> <shellns:ApplicationBarIconButton IconUri="/images/appbar.feature.search.rest.png" /> </shellns:ApplicationBar.Buttons> </shellns:ApplicationBar> </PhoneApplicationPage.ApplicationBar> So I thought I'd just rewrite it in C#: var appbar = new ApplicationBar(); var buttons = new List<ApplicationBarIconButton>(); buttons.Add(new ApplicationBarIconButton(new Uri("image.png", UrlKind.Relative)); appbar.Buttons = buttons; //error CS0200: Property or indexer 'Microsoft.Phone.Shell.ApplicationBar.Buttons' cannot be assigned to -- it is read only The only problem is that Buttons property does not have a set accessor and is defined like so: public sealed class ApplicationBar { //...Rest of the ApplicationBar class from metadata public IList Buttons { get; } } How come this can be done in XAML and not C#? Is there a special way that the objects are constructed using this syntax? More importantly, how can I recreate this in code?
