• Programming Language for RF scanner [closed]

  I am a Software Developer mostly on Windows System. I have been tasked to create an App Program for an RF Barcode Scanner. Which I don't have any experience in this kind of software. I am open to learn new Programming Languages to develop the software for this barcode scanner. From which I see on our meeting. It uses Windows or Windows Mobile as OS. Can someone direct me to a tut site or just tell me what language I should use? Requirements is mostly, Log In, UI Entry of Details + Barcode, Process Button. Connection To SQL Server via Wifi Access Point to call the procedure afterwards. I am not developing a Barcode scanner, I am developing a UI Software like a Mobile App. I tried to google but I dont know what exact keywords I should search for. My question is, what PL is mostly used to develop this kind of softwares.

• What Technology to use to Interact with Codeigniter "Backend" [on hold]

  I am building an application that looks like this: Codeingiter App/MySQL DB <--> API (this is the "contract" between the two entities) <--> Web Frontend I want the web frontend to be able to interact with the MySQL DB by requesting JSON objects in a RESTful way. But I don't want the Web Frontend to expose the workings of the Codeigniter App (i.e. let the Web Frontend clients see the domain of the codeigniter app, including its controllers/functions). The Codeigniter App is for business clients, and needs to be "hidden" from the Web Frontend users. I want to use PHP or Javascript, and am considering node js's Express, Angular, and SLIM PHP. Any thoughts as to what technology would suit this purpose best? Thanks

  I have the C++ code of a exe which contains a UI and some process. My goal is to remove the UI so that I only have the process and to convert the exe into a dll. In order to do that, I am thinking of generating unit test before touching any code and then to do my modification and make sure the tests are not failing. The problem is that I am not sure if this is the best approach and if it is, is there a way to automatically generate unit test. BTW, I am using VS 2012. Do you have any guidance for me?

  I am an android UI developer and having problem with issue with USB and external storage device support on android. What I want to have is on plug-in USB/SD card, the storage items in the devices directly show up on screen. For example the modern Operating systems have this feature that we plug in our device and it just automatically shows the contents of the device on new window. I am implementing my UI on android API level 10 and my device is IMX reference kit which has android 2.3.4 installed. I would be grateful if anyone could give specif suggestion or guideline. I already tried with external_storage.java class. but it only says that the APK is installed successfully. But no action launches on plug-in external device.

• Parse JSON in C#

  I'm trying to parse some JSON data from the Google AJAX Search API. I have this URL and I'd like to break it down so that the results are displayed. I've currently written this code, but I'm pretty lost in regards of what to do next, although there are a number of examples out there with simplified JSON strings. Being new to C# and .NET in general I've struggled to get a genuine text output for my ASP.NET page so I've been recommended to give JSON.NET a try. Could anyone point me in the right direction to just simply writing some code that'll take in JSON from the Google AJAX Search API and print it out to the screen? EDIT: I think I've made some progress in regards to getting some code working using DataContractJsonSerializer. Here is the code I have so far. Any advice on whether this is close to working and/or how I would output my results in a clean format? EDIT 2: I've followed the advice from Dreas Grech and the StackOverflowException has gone. • Setting Session Variable from UpdatePanel

  I am using ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions 1.0 with the version v1.0.20229 of the AJAX Control Toolkit (which to my knowledge is the latest for .NET 2.0/Visual Studio 2005). My web page (aspx) has a DropDownList control on an UpdatePanel. In the handler for the DropDownList's SelectedIndexChanged event I attempt to set a session variable. The first time the event is fired, I get a Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: "The message received from the server could not be parsed". If I continue, subsequent SelectedIndexChanged's are handled successfully. I have stumbled upon a solution whereby if I initialise the session variable in my Page_Load (so the event handler is just setting the value of a session variable that already exists as opposed to creating a new one) the problem goes away. I'm happy to do this, but I'm curious as to exactly what the underlying cause is. Can anyone explain? (My suspicion is that setting the session variable receives a response from the server which is then returned to the 'caller', but it's not the sort of response it knows how to deal with causing the exception?)   I need to display a real time data from MS SQL 2005. I saw some blogs that recommend Ajax to solve my problem. Basically, right now I have my default.aspx page only just for a workaround I could able to display the data from my DB. But once I add data manually to my DB there's no updating made. Any suggestions guys to fix this problem? I need to update datagridview with out refreshing the page. I am new to the whole ACL stuff and I didn't quite get it from the manual :/ therefore I would like to ask some questions. How do I restrict users from any other group than Administrator to access ONLY the /registered/ part of the web 2.) How do I prevent anyone from using the default addresses like www.example.com/users/add on a global scale (I want only www.example.com/admin/users/add or www.example.com/registered/users/add type of addresses)? This kind of addresses is not event set in the routes.php but they still work. Any answers apprecated

  I'm using Debian testing, and I have been switched to GNOME 3 by the Debian update yesterday. I'm not very comfortable with the UI. I wanted to customize everything like I had it with GNOME 2, but I simply couldn't find any way to change preferences like I'm used to. I've digged some, but all answers I could find did not help me achieve my goals. So please, if anyone knows the solution to this I'd be thankful: 1) I want several launchers that launch terminals, with different arguments and different coloring/title. I have searched everything and there seems to be no menu, no right-click, nothing which is standard in any UI I know. How can I create several launchers in this bar on the left side that launch the same application, just with different parameters? With GNOME 2 this was a piece of cake. 2) I want to switch between different terminals using ALT-TAB. Right now, I'm always just getting to the same, already-opened terminal. When I open two terminals by simply creating the second one by issuing xterm &, I still get one Terminal entry with ALT-TAB, and I have to navigate with cursor keys or mouse wheel to select one of the two xterminals. Instead, I want to open a new terminal when I click the quick launch terminal icon from the bar on the left side of the screen and navigate through them like on KDE/GNOME 2/Windows/any reasonable UI. Can this be done? 3) Is there a trick to make bluetooth devices work like on GNOME 2? Right now, my BT keyboard won't pair anymore, which, as you can imagine, makes me pretty angry. and, if anything fails: 4) How can I switch back to GNOME 2 again? :-) Honestly, who did design this? What were they smoking? I feel like I'm not allowed to do anything except start one of any application that has an icon and just with the default parameters. That can't be true, right? I feel massively restrained by this stuff :(

  I'm using WinVerifyTrust API in windows XP and I don't want any kind of user interaction. But when I set the WTD_UI_NONE attribute, although it doesn't show any dialog boxes, but it waits for a long time on the files that in fact wanted user interaction (I mean files which without mentioning the NO UI it will ask the user for that file). • Doing TDD Silverlight 4 RC using Visual Studio 2010 RC

  First I am glad to see better TDD support in VS2010. Support for generating code stubs from my tests is ok - not as good as more mature TDD plug-ins but a good start. I am looking for some best Silverlight 4.0 TDD practices. First Question: Anyone have links, recommendations? I know the new Silverlight Unit Test capabilities are much better (Jeff Wilcox's Mix Presentation). What I am focusing on right now is using TDD to develop pure Silverlight 4.0 Class Library projects - projects without a Silverlight UI project. I've been able to get it to work but not as cleanly as it should be. I can create an Empty VS project. Add A Silverlight 4 Class Library Project. Add a TestProject (not a silverlight Unit Test Project but a plain Test Project). Add a simple test in the Test Project such as: namespace Calculator.Test { [TestClass] public class CalculatorTests { [TestMethod] public void CalulatorAddTest() { Calc c = new Calc(); int expected = 10; int actual = c.Add(6, 4); Assert.AreEqual<int>(expected, actual); } } } Using the new Generate Type and Method from Test feature it will generate the following code in the Silverlight Project: namespace Calculator { public class Calc { public int Add(int p, int p_2) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } } When I run the tests the first time it says the target assembly is Silverlight and not able to run test - Not exact text but the same general idea. When I change the implementation to: namespace Calculator { public class Calc { public int Add(int p, int p_2) { return p + p_2; } } } and re-run the test, it works fine and the test goes green. It also works for all other TDD code I generate after. I also get a warning Mark in the Test Project's reference to the Calculator Silverlight Class Library Assembly. Second Question: Any comments ideas if this just a bug in VS2010 RC or is Silverlight Class Library TDD not really supported. I have not created a Silverlight UI project or changed and build or debug settings so I have no idea what is hosting the silverlight DLL. Finally, some of the Silverlight Class Libraries I need to write will provide functionality that requires elevated Out-Of-Browser rights. Based on the above, it looks like I can use TDD Test Projects against regular Silverlight 4.0 Class Libraries, but I have no idea how I can TDD the elevated OOB functionality without also creating the UI component that gets installed. The UI piece is not really needed for the Library development and gets in the way of what I actually want to TDD. I know I can (and will) mock some of that functionality but at some point I will also need the real thing in my tests. Third Question: Any ideas how to TDD Silverlight 4.0 Class Library project that requires OOB elevated rights? Thanks!

A simple "Hello World" application indicates that Mono is properly installed and working, It is just my app that is causing this exception to be thrown.
