  • Please summarize how to implement node base licensing

    Currently a user makes a purchase and then a license is generated and sent to that user, but the license isn't tied to a physical computer so there is nothing to prevent the user sharing the license with someone. I heard people talk about creating a license tied to the mac address of the computer, so the license only works on that computer. Now I know how to get the mac address in code but I dont understand how I can do this step when they first make the purchase on the web, so please what is the basic algorithm for node locked licenses ?

    I've heard that given a programmer with enough time and skill in any particular language and enough lines of code, then any program could be created with any given language. I know its certainly not going to be cost-efficient, for instance, to rewrite Adobe Photoshop in BASIC, but could a good enough and patient enough programmer potentially create any program in any language?

  • Are there any programmable barcode scanners that can call a webservice?

    I am looking at integrating a C# application with a barcode scanner. The last time I did this was with Delphi 1 (win 3.11) using a scanner that plugged in-line into the keyboard cable. Looking around it appears most scanners are USB based these days and assume they emulate keyboard entry. Anybody know of more sophisticated/programmable scanner that can call a webservice or even just do a basic POST/GET this would eliminate the C# application and the computer to support it?

    Hi All, I have a JAR on the build path of a medium sized Java application and I would like to know where it's used. At the most basic level if someone could tell me how to 'Find References' for a Jar that would be great. Whilst I'm looking at dependencies it would be great to find a tool that would map all of my package / external library usages and graph them. I always feel some elements missing in me and those are interest, passion etc. In short, I don't feel motivated while coming to work. This makes me think how my work-life balance will look like once I reach at more responsible positions.     I have found Design patterns certification at the Brainbehch. I have heard from people who passed it, that there are many Language-specific patterns questions, mostly from Java and C++. I think that this certification can: force me to improve my skills on Object oriented design and design patterns; improve and structure my knowledge of the domain; give real estimate of my knowledge, which is useful issue itself The only confusion I have about this certification, is that I have to learn C++/Java language specific design patterns, while I mostly do PHP development and don't want to switch to C++/Java. I'm familiar with Java & C++ syntax, read lots of books about different subjects with code snippets in this programming languages. I think, that if I pass well all concepts except language specific patterns at certification, it won't be very good, because this concepts will gain quite low results. What would you recommend in this particular circumstance?

    When a user moves the Google map, I would like to display items in the viewing range of the user automatically. How can I efficiently and quickly display the items? I have basic understanding of calling getBounds() method every time the user moves the map, but I am not sure how I can efficiently search and get from my database the items within the lat/lng of the bounds of the current viewport. Is there easier and faster way of doing this?

    There are lots of training methods from different vendors to learn .NET technologies (i.e. books, DVDs, online training, etc.). All of them claim the same thing: that they are the best, their content is 100% guaranteed, makes their customers professional in no time, etc. It’s confusing and sometimes frustrating as well. I especially want a training resource (i.e. a course) to provide valuable content in short time. More importantly I feel they should do their job properly so as to avoid the customer feeling they've wasted time or money. What I should do when I evaluating training methods and resources to help further software development skills? What are your training sources? Do you have any recommendations?

  • iphone scrolling ticker example?

    I'm looking at adding a user comment ticker to my iPhone/iPad polling app (Show of Hands). The comments would obviously need to be pulled from a central web source - either a database or perhaps even simple flat files.   • How well does knowledge of J2ME generalize to other mobile platforms?

    I'm considering taking mobile phone software development course at my university. The course uses J2ME with an emulator. I'm interested in software development for mobile phones, but I get the impression that J2ME is somewhat stale and limited in comparison to the newer platforms like the iPhone and Android. I'm most interested in Android, as I dislike the closed nature of the iPhone. So if I take the course, how well would the skills acquired transfer to a platform like Android? And I have a related question. I'm pretty comfortable with Java (and various other programming languages), but I haven't used J2ME. Is there anything that makes it particularly painful to program with? (Not that Java is that pleasant anyway :))

    Hey as a project to improve my programing skills I've begun programing a nice code editor in python to teach myself project management, version control, and gui programming. I was wanting to utilize syntax files made for other programs so I could have a large collection already. I was wondering if there was any kind of universal syntax file format much in the same sense as .odt files. I heard of one once in a forum, it had a website, but I can't remember it now. If not I may just try to use gedit syntax files or geany. thanks
