• How to remove cursor from text field on click of button?

  Hi all, I am trying to do a simple task: I have an editable text field, two buttons (titles: make editable/ make un-editable) over a window. Idea is: when user clicks "make editable" button, text field should become editable and when he/she clicks "make un-editable", it should become un-editable. In action of "make un-editable" I am doing this: [myTextField setSelectable:NO]; [myTextField setEditable:NO]; and in action of "make editable" I am doing this: [myTextField setSelectable:YES]; [myTextField setEditable:YES]; Problem is: It works fine when myTextField does not have cursor within it and user clicks - "make un-editable", ie. myTextField becomes un-editable but when it has cursor and user clicks "make un-editable" he/she can still edit myTextField. For its solution I tried to remove cursor from myTextField as soon as user clicks "make un-editable" button, by adding these lines before selectable and editable statements: [someOtherTextField selectText:self]; [[NSRunLoop currentRunLoop] performSelector:@selector(selectText:) someOtherTextField argument:self order:9999 modes:[NSArray arrayWithObject:NSDefaultRunLoopMode]]; [someOtherTextField becomeFirstResponder]; but none is working for me :( Can anyone suggest some solution for it? • UITapGestureRecognizer recognizing tap after scaling UIView

  I have a UIView which I scale to 4x after tapping on it. It works fine. On the next tap I want to restore it back to original size. The problem is that it recognizes the tap only in the smaller rectangle the UIView had before scaling. I would like to recognize the tap anywhere in the scaled UIView. • UIDatePicker date method is picking wrong date: iPhone Dev

  Hi, I am getting very strange behaviour on UIDatePicker. I have a view with date picker declared in .h file as IBOutlet UIDatePicker *datePicker; with property nonatomic and retain. datePicker is properly linked in IB file. In the code I am setting the minimum, maximum, initial date and action to call for UICOntrolEventValueChanged using following code If (!currentDate) { initialDate = [NSDate date]; } else { initialDate = currentdate; } [datePicker setMinimumDate:[NSDate date]]; [datePicker setMaximumDate:[[NSDate date] addTimeInterval:5 * 365.25 * 24 * 60 * 60]]; // to get upto 5 years [datePicker setDate:initialDate animated:YES]; [datePicker addTarget:self action:@selector(getDatePickerValue:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventValueChanged]; In getDatePickerValue, I get the new date using datePicker.date. When the view is closed (using a done button), I get the current value of the date using datePicker.date. Now if the view is called with no 'currentDate', the picker returns 'todays date'. This is what happens the 'first' time my pickerView is called. Each subsequent call to the view, with no 'current date' gives me a different and later date from today. So, first time I get today's date say 9 Jun 2010 second time datePicker.date returns 10 Jun 2010 third time 11 Jun 2010 and so on. Though its not always incremental, but mostly it is. I have put NSLogs, and verified the initial date is set correctly. The problem is only on the device (on OS 3.0), the issue is not replicated on simulator. I can't find what I have done wrong. I hope somebody else has come across similar problem and can help me resolve this.

  Sorry about the title—wasn’t sure how to word it. Basically I have some XML like this: <countries> <country handle="bangladesh"/> <country handle="india"/> <country handle="pakistan"/> </countries> And some XSLT like this (which doesn’t work): <xsl:template match="/countries"> <xsl:param name="popular"/> <xsl:apply-templates select="country[count($popular/country[@handle = current()/@handle]) &gt; 0]" /> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="/countries/country"> … </xsl:template> I want to pass in a list of popular destinations like this: <popular> <country handle="india"/> <country handle="pakistan"/> </popular> …to the /countries template and have it only operate on the ones in the $popular param. At the moment this simply does nothing. Changing the selector to country[true()] operates on them all, so at least I know the basic structure is right. Any ideas? I think I may be getting confused by what is currently “current()”.

  I have to select an <a> element from the given class of objects. when i click on the anchor tag in the showcase_URL class, i want the jquery function to get the value from <a> tag. How can this be done? I cannot make this an id as I am running a while loop to construct all the elements in php. there would be multiple objects of this class. there is no definite selector through which I can get the value of the anchor tag. • Why is my UITableView not being set?

  I checked using the debbuger in the viewDidLoad method and tracerTableView is 0x0 which i assume means it is nil. I don't understand. I should go ahaed say yes I have already checked my nib file and yes all the connections are correct.   I am confused as to when I can use the DOM properties and when I could use the Jquery methods on a Jquery object. Say, I use a selector var $elemSel = $('#myDiv').find('[id *= \'select\']') At this point, $elemSel is a jquery object which I understand to be a wrapper around the array of DOM elements. I could get a reference to the DOM elements by iterating through the $elemSel object/array (Correct?) My questions: 1. Is there a way to convert this $elemSel into a non JQuery regular array of DOM elements? 2. Can I combine DOM properties and JQuery methods at the same time (something like this) $elemSel.children('td').nodeName (nodeName is DOM related, children is JQuery related) EDIT: What's wrong with this? $elemSel.get(0).is(':checked') EDIT 2: Thanks for the responses. I understand now that I can use the get(0) to get a DOM element. Additional questions: How would I convert a DOM element to a JQuery object? If I assign "this" to a variable, is that new var DOM or JQuery? If it's JQuery, how can I convert this to a DOM element? (Since I can't use get(0)) var $elemTd = $(this); When I do a assignment like the one above, I have seen some code samples not include the $ sign for the variable name. Why?   I am using the BLIP/MYNetwork library to establish a basic tcp socket connection between the iPhone and my computer. • What is wrong with the JavaScript event handling in this example? (Using click() and hover() jQuery

  I'm working on a sort of proof-of-concept for a project that approximates Firebug's inspector tool. For more details, please see this related question. Here is the example page. I've only tested it in Firefox: http://troy.onespot.com/static/highlight.html The idea is that, when you're mousing over any element that can contain text, it should "highlight" with a light gray background to indicate the boundaries of that element. When you then click on the element, it should alert() a CSS selector that matches it. This is somewhat working in the example linked above. However, there's one fundamental problem. When mousing over from the top of the page to the bottom, it will pick up the paragraphs, <h1> element, etc. But, it doesn't get the <div>s that encompass those paragraphs. However, for example, if you "sneak up" on the <div> that contains the two paragraphs "The area was settled..." and "Austin was selected..." from the left - tracing down the left edge of the page and entering the <div> just between the two paragraphs (see this screenshot) - then it is picked up. I assume this has something to do with the fact that I haven't attached an event handler to the <body> element (where you're entering the <div> from if you enter from the left), but I have attached handlers to the <p>s (where you're entering from if you come from the top or bottom). There are also other issues with mousing in and out elements - background colors that "stick" and the like - that I think are also related. As indicated in the related question posted above, I suspect there is something about event bubbling that I don't understand that is causing unexpected behavior. Can anyone spot what's wrong with my code? Thanks in advance for any help!

• Background color remaining when switching views

  Hi Guys. I have a UIViewController named equationVC who's user interface is being programmatically created from another NSObject class called equationCon. Upon loading equationVC, a method called chooseInterface is called from the equationCon class. I have a global variable (globalVar) that points to a user defined string. chooseInterface finds a method in the equationCon class that matches the string globalVar points to. In this case, let's say that globalVar points to a string that is called "methodThatMatches." In methodThatMatches, another view controller needs to show the results of what methodThatMatches did. methodThatMatches creates a new equationVC that calls upon methodThatMatches2. As a test, each method changes the color of the background. When the application starts up, I get a purple background, but as soon as I hit backwards I get another purple screen, which should be yellow. I do not think that I am release the view properly.   I have a select widget with a couple of AJAX enhancements. <select id="authors"> <option value="1">Foo Bar</option> <option value="2" selected="selected">Bar Baz</option> </select> Now, if the selected option changes, I want to change the "content" ("Foo Bar" and "Bar Baz" in the example). How can I do that with jQuery? I tried the following, but obviously, it doesn't work. $('#authors').change(function(){ $('#authors option[selected=selected]').html('new content'); }); /edit: to clarify, the selector '#authors option[selected=selected]' works fine, it selects the correct option DOM element. But .html('new content') does nothing. 2nd edit: OK, this is embarassing. I tried my code in Chrome's JavaScript console, where it didn't have any effect. After jAndy clearly demonstrated that it works in jsFiddle, I tried it in the FireBug console, and there it works. Lesson learned :-)

  Hello all, I have looked at other answers and the docs. Maybe I am missing something, or maybe I have another issue. I am trying to save a number on exiting the app, and then when the app is loaded I want to check if this value exists and take action accordingly. • strange run time error message from CIImage initWithContentsOfURL

  When executing the following code I receive a run time error when the code executes the second line of code. The error (which shows up in the debugger) says: [NSButton initWithContentsOfURL:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x100418e10. I don't understand this message, because it looks to me (based on my source code) like the initWithContentsOfURL message is being sent to the myImage instance (of the CIImage class) ... not NSButton. Any idea what is going on? If it matters ... this code is in the Application Controller class module of an Xcode project (a Cocoa application) -- within a method that is called when I click on a button on the application window. • Swipe left/right to push next/previous details view

  I am working on a ios application, using storyboard. I have a simple table view with rows. Each row has a "key" string to identify it. When the user clicks on a row I push the next view "DetailsViewController" and pass the "key" as a parameter in the prepareForSegue method. The data in the second view will change based on the "key" passed. In the "DetailsViewController" I want to add a swipe gesture, when the user swipes right, I want to push the next details view. It will be as if he clicked on the next row in the table view. So to rephrase, the user has 2 ways of switching between items: he can click the item in the table view and the details view will show, he can then go back and select another item. • Using JQuery to traverse DOM structure, finding a specific <table> element located after HTML 'comme

  I currently have a website source code (no control over the source) which contains certain content that needs to be manipulated. This would be simple on the surface, however there is no unique ID attribute on the tag in question that can uniquely identify it, and therefore allow for further traversal. Here is a snippet of the source code, surrounding the tag in question. ... <td width="100%"> <!--This table snaps the content columns(one or two)--> <table border="0" width="100%"> ... Essentially, the HTML comment stuck out as an easy way to gain access to that element. Using the JQuery comment add-on from this question, and some help from snowlord comment below, I have been able to identify the comment and retrieve the following output using the 'dump' extension. $('td').comments().filter(":contains('This table snaps the content columns(one or two)')").dump(); returns; jQuery Object { 0 = DOMElement [ nodeName: DIV nodeValue: null innerHTML: [ 0 = String: This table snaps the content columns(one or two) ] ] } However I am not sure how to traverse to the sibling element in the DOM. This should be simple, but I haven't had much selector experience with JQuery. Any suggestions are appreciated.

  I have multiple coupons on a page and I'm trying to get comments to work on each coupon. So for each coupon i have a comments form. Im using jQuery + Ajax to accomplish this. Here's what my code looks like. • UISlider won't display

  I have been having a lot of difficulty adding custom track images to a UISlider. Whenever I do this, whether to a nib created UISlider or a hand programmed UISlider the slider refuses to display. Also, I even commented the track image code out below and the UISlider still refuses to display.   I have a mobile web application with an unordered list containing multiple listitems with a hyperlink inside of each li: <ul> <li id="home" class="active"> <a href="home.html">HOME</a></div> </li> <li id="home" class="active"> <a href="test.html">TEST</a></div> </li> </ul> ...My question is how can I format the hyperlinks so that they DON'T change size when viewed on an iPhone, and the accellerometer switches from portrait - landscape? Right now, I have the hyperlink font size spec'ed to 14px, but when switching to landscape, it blows way up to like 20px. I want the font-size to stay the same. • How can I create Wikipedia's footnote highlighting solely with jQuery

  I would like to duplicate Wikipedia's footnote highlighting from in-text citation click solely in jQuery and CSS classes. I found a webpage that describes how to do so with CSS3 and then a JavaScript solution for IE. I would like however to do so solely with jQuery as the site I'm doing it on already has a bunch of jQuery elements. I've come up with a list of the process. In-Text Citation Clicked Replace highlight class with standard footnote class on <p> tag of footnotes that are already highlighted. Add highlight to the appropriate footnote Use jQuery to scroll down the page to appropriate footnote. I've come up with some jQuery so far but I'm extremely new to it relying heavy on tutorials and plugins to this point. Here is what I have with some plain English for the parts I haven't figured out yet. $('.inlineCite').click(function() { $('.footnoteHighlight').removeClass('footnoteHighlight').addClass('footnote'); //add highlight to id of highlightScroll //scroll to footnote with matching id }); If I had a method to pass a part of the selector into the function and turn it into a variable I believe I could pull it off. Most likely I'm sure one of you gurus will whip something up that puts anything I think I have done to shame. Any help will be greatly appreciated so thank you in advance. Cheers.

• How do you parse with SAX using Attributes & Values to a URL path using iPhone SDK?

  I'm trying to get my head around parsing with SAX and thought a good place to start was the TopSongs example found at the iPhone Dev Center. I get most of it but when it comes to reaching Attributes and Values within a node I can't find a good example anywhere. The XML has a path to a URL for the coverArt. And the XML node looks like this. <itms:coverArt height="60" width="60">http://a1.phobos.apple.com/us/r1000/026/Music/aa/aa/27/mzi.pbxnbfvw.60x60-50.jpg</itms:coverArt> What I've tried is this for the startElement… ((prefix != NULL && !strncmp((const char *)prefix, kName_Itms, kLength_Itms)) && (!strncmp((const char *)localname, kName_CoverArt, kLength_Item) && !strncmp((const char *)attributes, kAttributeName_CoverArt, kAttributeLength_CoverArt) && !strncmp((const char *)attributes, kValueName_CoverArt, kValueLength_CoverArt) || !strncmp((const char *)localname, kName_Artist, kLength_Artist) || and picking it up again with just the localname at the end like this. if (!strncmp((const char *)localname, kName_CoverArt, kLength_CoverArt)) { importer.currentSong.coverArt = [NSURL URLWithString:importer.currentString]; The trace is -[Song setCoverArt:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance.

• jQuery UI selectable won't work with anything besides '#selectable'

  I am trying to use 2 instances of the jquery selector UI on my site and it won't seem to work with anything besides '#selectable' as the ordered list id. • Loading Views dynamically

  Case 1: I have created View-based sample application and tried execute below code. When I press on "Job List" button it should load another view having "Back Btn" on it. In test function, if I use [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; nothing gets loaded, but if I use [self presentModalViewController:jbc animated:YES]; it loads another view haveing "Back Btn" on it. Case 2: I did create another Navigation Based Applicaton and used [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; it worked as I wanted. Can someone please explain why it was not working in Case 1. • Selecting first instance of class but not nested instances via jQuery

  Given the following hypothetical markup: <ul class="monkey"> <li> <p class="horse"></p> <p class="cow"></p> </li> </ul> <dl class="monkey"> <dt class="horse"></dt> <dd class="cow"> <dl> <dt></dt> <dd></dd> </dl> <dl class="monkey"> <dt class="horse"></dt> <dd class="cow"></dd> </dl> </dd> </dl> I want to be able to grab the 'first level' of horse and cow classes within each monkey class. But I don't want the NESTED horse and cow classes. I started with .children, but that won't work with the UL example as they aren't direct children of .monkey. I can use find: $('.monkey').find('.horse, .cow') but that returns all instances, including the nested ones. I can filter the find: $('.monkey').find('.horse, .cow').not('.cow .horse, .cow .cow') but that prevents me from selecting nested instances on a second function call. So...I guess what I'm looking for is 'find first "level" of this descendant'. I could likely do this with some looping logic, but was wondering if there is a selector and/or some combo of selectors that would achieve that logic.
