• Question about inserting/updating rows with SQL Server (ASP.NET MVC)

  I have a very big table with a lot of rows, every row has stats for every user for certain days. And obviously I don't have any stats for future. So to update the stats I use UPDATE Stats SET Visits=@val WHERE ... a lot of conditions ... AND Date=@Today But what if the row doesn't exist? I'd have to use INSERT INTO Stats (...) VALUES (Visits=@val, ..., Date=@Today) How can I check if the row exists or not? Is there any way different from doing the COUNT(*)? If I fill the table with empty cells, it'd take hundreds of thousands of rows taking megabytes and storing no data.

• REST destroy link generate problem

  I am using rails beta 3 and I have a erb page named index.html.erb for discussions controller. In that page, I have a link as following: <%= link_to 'Delete', {:action='destroy', :id=@discussion}, :confirm="Are you sure", :method='post' % Which is supposed to generate a link to delete a discussion, however, the generated html is Delete which always routes to the show action. I think the href should be /discussions/destroy/1. But for some reason it is not. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

• Zend_Auth_Adapter_DbTable identity not unique

  For authentication on a website i use Zend_Auth_Adapter_DbTable. Everything work's fine, but Zend Framework only allow unique Identitys in the table. As an identity i use the mail-address from my users. The problem is, that there are more items in the table with this mail-adress. User can delete there account and so i don't delete the whole row, i only change the status to -2 or something else. active user has the status 1. i try to use it like so: $authAdapter = new Zend_Auth_Adapter_DbTable($db, 'user', 'email', 'password', "? AND `status`='1'"); $authAdapter->setIdentity($email); $authAdapter->setCredential($password); But it doesn't work. If i delete the inactive user with the same mail-address, everything work's. Why is that?

In this case, I need to delete the intersection of A and B from A. A = [['ab', 'cd', 'ef', '0', '567'], ['ghy5'], ['pop', 'eye']] B = [['ab'], ['hi'], ['op'], ['ej']] My objective is to compare A and B and delete A intersection B from A, i.e., delete A[0][0] in this case.   I have a script in which I add all new files before to commit my working copy to my repository with this line: svn status | grep ^\? | awk '{print $2}' | xargs svn add I now want to add a line that delete from repository all deleted files in my working copy. In other terms, I cannot specify them one by one, and I need to detect them with svn status and then automatically remove them. However the line doesn't work. svn status | grep ^\! | awk '{print $2}' | xargs svn --force delete As you can see I've replaced "?" with "!" and "add" with "--force delete" Could you tell me why it doesn't work ? ps.   What is the 'best practice' when returning dynamic data for a table (server side sorting, filtering etc from a db) ? Do you return just the data in json, and repeatedly clone a row element, replacing the values in each row (thus decreasing the size of the ajax call, but increasing the client side processing), or return the full html, and replace with .html or .append? Or is there another method I'm missing? This is a frequent situation in my app, and in some cases a bottleneck, and I am unsure if what I am doing is the best solution. Currently, I return the row html and use a single .append call, after emptying all the rows except the header.

• Interesting XSL Dilemma

  I've got this issue. A template called "checkbox" that's called from while inside a table HTML element and also outside of it. To solve an issue, I've added tags to "checkbox" input control. Here's what I'd like to do to but I'm not sure if it's possible or not. When I hit my "row" (part of the custom table markup) template, I would set some variable or pass some parameter, that for each template applied afterwards, would know it was in a "row" and do something special based on this information. I know I can't add parameters to apply-templates. I may be able to add a row "mode" but I can't make changes to each template and have one copy with the mod parameter and one without. Thanks for any suggestions. I know the ideal solution would to be to make changes to the XML but I'm not sure if I can do that as this point. That's a "content" issue. :P Thanks!

• Visual Studio scratch disk behavior

  I don't know if this feature exists, but I'd like a way to control Visual Studio 2010's scratch disk behavior (other than completely turning off intellisense). Right now it creates a massive .sdf file in the project folder (50MB+), and then it goes and creates an IPCH folder with 60MB+ of precompiled headers. All that's well and good while VS is running, but after it exits, I really would like the disk back. Is there a way to configure vs 2010 to Use the same location (%AppData%\VSScratch) for scratch disk files (so its easier to blow it away?) Automatically delete .sdf /ipch on exit? I know they don't delete them because its faster to startup.. but if you delete them yourself, startup time isn't that much increased..

  Have anyone ever create/manipulate a table application from the ground up/scratch? I want to create a table using flash AS 3. I like to have the features like to the MS Studio Web Developer option. The options are create a table, merge cells, split cell, resize columns, delete cell, delete row, delete column etc... I think this is going to be very complicated thing to do. I think the only way to do it is to build it from the ground up because I don’t think Flash has the library/component for it. I was able to create rows and columns by creating the # of rectangles listed it from the left to the right and move the next coordinate for the next row. Now the most challenging this is to manipulate it. This is the must have feature on my website and we don’t want use Javascript to create table on the server side to create the table.

  I would like to map a relation between two Rails models, where one side can be optionnal. Let's me be more precise... I have two models: Profile that stores user profile information (name, age,...) and User model that stores user access to the application (email, password,...). To give you more information, User model is handled by Devise gem for signup/signin. Here is the scenario of my app: 1/ When a user register, a new row is created in User table and there is an equivalent in Profile table. This leads to the following script: class User < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :profile end 2/ A user can create it's profile without registering (kind of public profile with public information), so a row in Profile doesn't have necessarily a User row equivalent (here is the optional relation, the 0..1 relation in UML).   Hi, I built a class that allows me to do: $db->query($query); and it works perfectly, although if I want to do: $db->query($query); while($row = $db->fetch_assoc()){ $db->query($anotherquery); echo $db->result(); } it "breaks" the class. I don't want to constantly have to redeclare my class (eg: $seconddb = new database()), is there a way to get around this? I want to be able to reuse $db within $db, without overwriting the "outside" db. currently I'm create an array of data (from db-fetch_assoc() then doing a foreach and then doing the db call inside that: $db->query('SELECT * FROM table'); while($row = $db->fetch_assoc()){ $arr[] = $row; } foreach($arr as $a){ $db->query(); // query and processing here } Is this the best method or am I missing the obvious? Should I consider passing a connection link ID with the database connection?
