  I'm trying to write a makefile using CC on Solaris 10. [Only the first bit of that really matters, I think]. I have the following rule for foo.o: foo.o: foo.cc common_dependencies.h CC -c foo.cc -I../../common Unfortunately, common_dependencies.h includes all sorts of idiosyncratic trash, in directories not named '.' or '../../common' . Is this just going to have to be a brute force makefile where I ferret out all of the dependency paths? All of the dependencies are somewhere under '../..', but sometimes 1-level down and sometimes 2-levels down.

• Finding changes in MongoDB database

  I'm designing a MongoDB database that works with a script that periodically polls a resource and gets back a response which is stored in the database. Right now my database has one collection with four fields , id, name, timestamp and data. I need to be able to find out which names had changes in the data field between script runs, and which did not. In pseudocode, if(data[name][timestamp]==data[name][timestamp+1]) //data has not changed store data in collection 1 else //data has changed between script runs for this name store data in collection 2 Is there a query that can do this without iterating and running javascript over each item in the collection? There are millions of documents, so this would be pretty slow. Should I create a new collection named timestamp for every time the script runs? Would that make it faster/more organized? Is there a better schema that could be used? The script runs once a day so I won't run into a namespace limitation any time soon.

  Hi All I am working with the new version of boost 1.42 and I want to use regex with named sub groups. The traditional way is std::string result( mtch["VAL"].first, mtch["VAL"].second ); but i don't want to use this way. I want to use the name of the subgroups as usual in Perl and in regex in general. I tried this, but it didn't work. std::string result( mtch["VAL"].first, mtch["VAL"].second ); Do you know how to get the value using the name of the subgroup? Thanks AFG

• NHibernate - get List<long> representing primary keys?

  I have a situation where I definitely don't want to get the whole domain object. Basically, the entity has a primary key of long (.NET)/bigint(sql server 2005). I simply need to pass the primary key to an external system which will access the database directly - and since the list of ids could be large, I don't want to rehydrate the entire domain object just to get the Id. In linq2sql, I could accomplish this with a projection, but I am restricted to NHibernate 1.2.1.4000, which doesn't support Linq. Is there a way to accomplish this using NHibernate 1.2.1.4000? (I am open to using a named-query if that will work)

• LDAP in medium trust

  I've have a solution with one website and several projects. The projects all have the AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers attribute and are strongly-named. The site works in full trust. However, after set the trust to medium, I get the System.Security.SecurityException: Request failed. error as soon as I browse to the site. In my projects, I have calls to LogOnUser, as well as many calls to variousSystem.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement methods. Can this site run with medium trust or do I have to have full trust for all the LDAP calls? As I mentioned, I've set the AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers attribute on all projects. Not sure what else to do. Also, I have no idea what/where the error is being generated. The event logs on the server have nothing in regards to this SecurityException. Is there any way to find out what the error location is so maybe I can attempt to rewrite some code? [running .NET 4.0 on Win2k8R2]

  For example, i have a column named EmployeeName. Every time a user changes/fix his name, i need to keep a count. If he changes his name twice, then count is 2. Also, i need to store the time of every change employee makes on EmployeeName e.g. if the name essentially is James and time created is 9:00 AM and then employee changes to John on 11:00 AM, i need to preserve this new time and new value as well as the previous one which is James at 9:00 AM. I hope its clear! Thank you guys...Best Answer will be chosen... If this requires a trigger, giving a sketchy pseudo-code will be very much appreciated.

• Different Providers, different websites, still think I'm logged in on the same website.

  I have two web applications in the same solution. They both use different membership/profile and role providers. They are named differently. When I run the solution, and visit one website, and login everything is fine. I then go to the other solution and it thinks I am already logged in and the profile provider tries to load profile properties that do not exist. How can I keep them separate, so when I try to log in on one site, it doesn't think I'm still logged in on the other.

  Hi, im using symfony with doctrine, and Im trying to generate the schema yml file from a db. I get an this error SQLSTATE[42000]: Syntax error or access violation: 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'group' at line 1. Failing Query: "DESCRIBE group"I have a table named group in my database, and I suspect that this is screwing it up. Its not access problems as ive checked my db previleges. Any suggestions on what I can do? I have tried the quote-identifier attribute but with no luck : ( Im also struggling to find some good doctrine documentation. i cant seem to find where a list of attributes are, say for a creating a column in the schema.yml file.   Hello Developers, I have developed a ASP.Net Server custom control in C# for 3.5. named "myCheckBoxList" inherited from CheckBoxList web control. Working is very simple. It just works as a two option buttons. I have taken a CheckBoxList which will show two fixed checkboxes always. When I check one checkbox then another will uncheck as vise versa. This control works perfectly only when I have placed only one instance of that control on web page. If I place more than one instance of control then it doesnt works.   Hello, Im using Firefox 3.5.9. When i visit a url , it sets a cookie on my computer.I can see this cookie in Firefox by going to Tools-Options-Privacy,then clicking on 'Remove Individual Cookies'. There is a folder called xyz,which contains a cookie named JSessionId and which has some Content value . If i use curl in my php code to navigate to that website,is there a way i can read the Content value of that cookie programmatically ? . Some sample code would be really appreciated. Thank You

• Need help from CSS purist!

  I'm beginning to use CSS more and more but I'm not sure if I'm using it as intended in all cases. I have classes named things like 'box' that will wrap the content inside it with a border, which seems like good CSS to me. On the other hand I have classes like 'margin-right-5' and 'float-left' that sets the css to margin-right: 5px and float:left respectively. I'm wondering if this is good practice. Then in my markup I'd do something like: <div class="box float-left margin-right-5"> <!-- CONTENT HERE --> </div> Sometimes I may want to float right or not have a margin at all and still use the 'box' class, so I use several classes in order to make the css more flexible. Am I destroying the principles of CSS?

  I'm trying to "faux-fork" a process (an email being sent via SMTP) in my web application, and the application is built on Kohana. $command = 'test/email'; exec('php index.php '.$command.' > /dev/null/ &', $errors, $response); I'm getting an error -- Notice: Undefined index: SERVER_NAME When I look into Kohana's index.php file, I see that it is looking for a variable named SERVER_NAME, but I guess it is coming up NULL because Kohana couldn't detect this value and set it prior to run. Any ideas how to get Kohana to run via command line?

((lambda () (define name val) ... body bodies ...))))) As far as I understand the semantics of letrec, which I use very often as a named let. It works in this way, however as I've had my fair share of debates with philosophers who think they can just disprove special relativity or established phonological theories, I know that when you think you have a simple solution to a complex problem, it's probably WRONG. There has got to be some point where this macro does not satify the semantics of letrec else they'd probably have used it. In this definition, the definitions are local to the body of the letrec, they can refer to each other for mutual recursion, I'm not quite sure what (if any) is wrong.

  Dear all, I have to say sorry for my poor English first... I have a string named s_Result which will be parsed from Internet, the format may be "Distance: 2.8km (about 9 mins)", and there are 4 variables which are f_Distance, m_DistanceUnit, f_timeEst, m_timeEstUnit. My question is, how to parse s_Result and assign 2.8, km, 9, mins into f_Distance, m_distanceUnit, f_timeEst, and m_timeEstUnit respectively using regular expression?? I tried using "\d+(.\d+)?" in RegEx Tester and the result showed 2 matches found, but if use "\\d+(\\.\\d+)?" in Android code, it showed nothing matched!!! Is there any suggestion?? • Code is exectuting but the view is not loading when called form a function?

  I have a viewBased application with the viewController class mainView. In it I am loading various views(different nibs) depending upon certain actions that I do. I have added a popoverController with a barbutton in the mainView. Its intialized with a tableviewController class named popClass. When I select certain row in the popover, I want the view in my mainView to load someother view(as I do when i do certain actions). For that I have written a function in mainView Controller class and is calling it from the popOver class. Function and the lines of code are executing but nothing is happening. Even the log lines are printed but no action takes place. What is the problem? OR is there anyother way to make the view change in mainView by using the popover?

• Localizing other pages in Settings.bundle

  I have other pages within my app preferences which are stored as separate files within the settings.bundle. It has come time to localize my app and I can only seem to get the Root values to localize. I was wondering whether there was a trick? The following image shows that my second screen is stored within a file called "MyPrefs.plist" and I have created a corresponding named file "MyPrefs.strings" in the en.lproj directory. Mirroring the same naming and location as the Root.plist and Root.strings. The values with the Root.plist are converted as expected but not in the extra screen. Is there any trick to localizing secondary screens with the settings.bundle?

• Is this __import__ functionality correct?

  I have a package named jiva_tasks, which I'm trying to import via celery (using the CELERY_IMPORTS attribute of celeryconfig. The import statement that celery is using is this: __import__(module, [], [], ['']) Oddly enough, when this syntax is used, the module gets imported twice, once as jiva_tasks and another time as jiva_tasks. (with a period at the end). Now, chances are good that celery should be passing in globals rather than an empty list, but this seems broken to me. It seems odd that even if given the wrong arguments, __import__ would import something that isn't a valid python module name. I know that the way to fix this is to pass in globals, but I want to understand why I'm getting this result. Is this a bug, or is there something I don't understand about how __import__ is working? Update: It also seems to be working fine if I use importlib.

  I have two models: companies and expenses. Companies have many expenses and expenses belong to companies. My expense model has an 'amount' column. I was wondering if there is a way to perform a find based on a date range and the amount column of the expenses. Something like top 3 companies by total expense amounts over a 7 day period. I've tried for the better part of the day to get this to work, I've attempted joins, chaining named scopes, raw sql, etc. and I'm not having any luck. Thanks for the help.
