• OpenVZ multiple networks on CTs

  I have Hardware Node (HN) which has 2 physical interfaces (eth0, eth1). I'm playing with OpenVZ and want to let my containers (CTs) have access to both of those interfaces. I'm using basic configuration - venet. CTs are fine to access eth0 (public interface). But I can't get CTs to get access to eth1 (private network). I tried: # on HN vzctl set 101 --ipadd 192.168.1.101 --save vzctl enter 101 ping 192.168.1.2 # no response here ifconfig # on CT returns lo (127.0.0.1), venet0 (127.0.0.1), venet0:0 (95.168.xxx.xxx), venet0:1 (192.168.1.101) I believe that the main problem is that all packets flows through eth0 on HN (figured out using tcpdump). So the problem might be in routes on HN. Or is my logic here all wrong? I just need access to both interfaces (networks) on HN from CTs. Nothing complicated.

I found this : https://addons.mozilla.org/af/thunderbird/addon/gmail-conversation-view/ but it is just not compatible with my thunder bird version.. what I need to solve is: if one of my friends sends an email to me and another 10 friends. and everyone write a response. I can not read all in one mail (one by one). But I have to open 10 new emails. and is very hard to look over all. so can I have it like in Gmail?   Hello, I don't know if this will make any sense to you; but here goes. When I send an email and I get a response, more often than not, in the 'to:' is my email address. However, my email address also ends up in the 'from' column.The 'reply-from' address is nowhere to be found;so I don't have any address with which I can send my reply, as both of them have just my email address. What am I doing wrong here? Is there some set-up in my TOOLOPTIONS set-up incorrectly? The set-up in OPTIONS is pretty difficult to understand and it doesn't offer any 'to' or 'reply-from' choices. This is critical because I just cannot answer my emails because there is no one I can send a reply to. Please, please try to help me. • How can I automatically change the priority of Javaw.exe when loading Minecraft?

  I launch Minecraft.exe which invokes Javaw.exe. I wish for Javaw.exe to be running in High priority because Minecraft lags if not. I tried invoking Minecraft.exe with a high priority by doing this: Start "Minecraft" /high "C:\Users\Barrie\Documents\Program Files\Minecraft\Minecraft.exe" This would work if it wasn't for Minecraft loading Javaw.exe. I would love a simple solution - perhaps a command I can put into the batch script - which will change the priority of Javaw.exe after it loads. Edit: I'd like to thank everyone for their response to my issue. I fixed this by executing Minecraft.exe with a batch script then calling an AHK script to change the priority of Javaw.exe.

• How can I measure TCP timeout limit on NAT firewall for setting keepalive interval?

  A new (NAT) firewall appliance was recently installed at $WORK. Since then, I'm getting many network timeouts and interruptions, especially for operations which would require the server to think for a bit without a response (svn update, rsync, etc.). Inbound SSH sessions over VPN also timeout frequently. That clearly suggests I need to adjust the TCP (and ssh) keepalive time on the servers in question in order to reduce these errors. But what is the appropriate value I should use? Assuming I have machines on both sides of the firewall between which I can make a connection, is there a way to measure what the time limit on TCP connections might be for this firewall? In theory, I would send a packet with gradually increasing intervals until the connection is lost. Any tools that might help (free or open source would be best, but I'm open to other suggestions)? The appliance is not under my control, so I can't just get the value, though I am attempting to ask what it currently is and if I can get it increased.

• In Outlook 2010, can you add "Categories" to the "New Email" Ribbon?

  I couldn't figure out how to do this in Outlook 2007, and I was hoping I could do it in Outlook 2010... I want the ability to quickly apply a category when composing a new email (typically a "Waiting For..." category) for things that need a response. It is possible to apply a category by clicking the "Options" ribbon, then the little arrow under the More Options section - but why can't I get the nice big "Categories" drop-down that's available in the "Tags" section of the main Outlook window. There are about a kabillion commands in the "Customize Ribbon" dialog box for the New Mail window, but I couldn't find anything about Categories. Should I just give up?

• Windows Services don't automatically start after reboot?

  We've got some Windows services written in .NET. They start fine manually within the services mmc, but despite being set to Automatic, they never start when powering on (or rebooting) the machine. Update In the event log, instead of seeing "xyz started", alongside all the other services starting, I just see "The xyz service entered the stopped state." and a seperate error that says "A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the slsvc service.". If I manually start them, then I get a normal in the event log as expected, and all is fine - until the next Windows Update patch which forces a reboot and all the services are off again. Any ideas? I've tried setting them to Delayed Start with no apparent difference.

• Google Chrome passphrase : where is it?

  Every time I do a fresh install, Google Chrome asks me for my passphrase. Have searched high and low in Google's help forum and have yet to receive or find any form of response. When I do a fresh install, if I try to enter the passphrase (with all possible passwords i can recall) nothing works and I can't recover my extensions, bookmarks etc. On the other hand, if I wait a bit, everything falls to place. I close that window asking for passphrase and all my extensions, bookmarks are back. The failure to enter a proper passphrase code gets me a message to change my passphrase in my account settings. Who knows where that is! No one at Google's forum seems to know anything about this "passphrase".

  Hi, I first asked this on SO, but i didn't get a response and i think it is probably more appropriate here. Let say I have a directory which is being hosted by Jetty or Apache (i'd like an answer for both), i know the URL including the port and i can log into the server. How can i find the directory that is being hosted by a certain port? I'd also like to go the other way, i have a folder on the server, which i know if being hosted, but i don't know the port so i can't find it in a web browser. How can i find a list of directories that are being hosted? This has been bugging me for ages but i've never bothered to ask before! Thanks.

  I would like to change all cookies to be secure and http-only. It works fine for one cookie, but doesn't work when multiple cookies are set in response. Apache mod_header rule should change cookies from: Set-Cookie cookie1=value; Path=/somePath Set-Cookie cookie2=value; Path=/somePath to Set-Cookie cookie1=value; Path=/somePath; Secure; Http-Only Set-Cookie cookie2=value; Path=/somePath; Secure; Http-Only I use mod_headers for it with following rule: Header edit Set-Cookie ^(.*)$ $1;Secure;HttpOnly It works fine when only one cookie is set, but if there is more than one, it just removes all the following and they are not set at all. Any help how to write mod_headers rule for multiple values? or the problem is in something else?

I have issued this commands on box1: ip -6 addr add fd32:2d7f:f3c1::1/48 dev eth0 And I get this: inet6 addr: fd32:2d7f:f3c1::1/48 Scope:Global Then I have issued this command on box2: ip -6 addr add fd32:2d7f:f3c2::1/48 dev eth0 Back on box1 (command/response): ping6 fd32:2d7f:f3c1::1 is alive! ping6 fd32:2d7f:f3c2::1 ping6: sendto: Network is unreachable Why doesn't box1 ping box2 (of course, also box2 can't ping box1)?

• Odd SVN Checkout failures occur frequenctly on VMWare virtual machines

  We've recently been experiencing seemingly random SVN checkout failures on our Hudson build system. Google search has failed me; I'm hoping the super user community can help me out :-) We are occasionally receiving the following SVN error when our Hudson build jobs checkout source via the Hudson Subversion plug-in (which uses svn kit): ERROR: Failed to check out http://server/svnroot/trunk org.tmatesoft.svn.core.SVNException: svn: Processing REPORT request response failed: XML document structures must start and end within the same entity. (/svnroot/!svn/vcc/default) svn: REPORT request failed on '/svnroot/!svn/vcc/default' This issue seems to only occur when checking out from our Virtual Machines (Windows XP, Fedora 9, Fedora 12) using Hudson's SVN Plug-in. Systems that use the traditional SVN client seem to work. SVN Server version: 1.6.6 Hudson version: 1.377 Hudson SVN Plugin Version: 1.17 Has anyone dealt with this issue, or have any suggestions? • how do I 'hard refresh' a shared directory?

  VMWare player 4.0.1 build-528992 I added a file to a shared directory in Windows 7. When I ls -l that directory in Ubuntu 11 it looks like: (2nd line) ls: cannot access item_spec.rb: No such file or directory -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 300 2012-01-11 12:05 user_spec.rb -????????? ? ? ? ? ? item_spec.rb How can I get the folder to "refresh"? I need to use this file in Ubuntu. I think it will be present if I restart the VM, but that seems excessive. This looks like a bug. • Strange PHP output buffering

Both respond numbers 0...9 in every line. In case of first server each number is received every second. In case of second server there is no output for 10 seconds and entire output is displayed at once. What might be wrong int second case? I tried various uutput control Functions but it didn't help.   looking for a right way to accomplish the following: there is an app that have URL(1) hardcoded and no way/time to change it in the source http://dev.server.com/example.com/admin/soap/action/index?pr=1 and it should use (and get response from) URL(2) http://example.com/admin/soap/action/index?pr=1 what should I configure in Nginx (apache as backup used) conf on dev.server.com in order to give that app when it asks URL(1) answer from URL(2)?   Hi, I have a nginx server with 5 backend servers. We serve around 400-500 requests/second. I have started getting a large number of Upstream Timed out errors (110: Connection timed out) Error string in error.log looks like 2011/01/10 21:59:46 [error] 1153#0: *1699246778 upstream timed out (110: Connection timed out) while reading response header from upstream, client: {IP}, server: {domain}, request: "GET {URL} HTTP/1.1", upstream: "http://{backend_server}:80/{url}", host: "{domain}", referrer: "{referrer}" Any suggestions how to debug such errors. I am unable to find a munin plugin to keep a check on number of upstream errors. Sometime the number of errors per day is way too high and somedays its a more decent 3 digit number. A munin graph would probably help us finding out any pattern or correlation with anything else How can we make the number of such error as ZERO

• Esxi with iSCSI SAN slows down with many multiple VMs running

  I have a server with ESXi 5 and iSCSI attached network storage(4x1Tb Raid-Z on freenas). Those two machines are connected to each other with Gigabit ethernet, and a procurve switch in between. After a while, if I have many(4-5 or more) vms running, they start to get un-responsive (long delays before anything happens). We are trying to find the reason behind this. Today we looked at esxtop, and found that DAVG of that iSCSI LUN stays at 70-80. I read that +30 is critical! What could be causing those high response-times?

• When RDP as a Domain User, Smart Card Requested

  My W8 machine is connected to domain zen. If I rdp to the W8 machine, I can log in as a local user without problems. If I try to log in as a domain user, I am prompted for a smart card instead of a password. Any ideas why? Note that Interactive login: require smart card is disabled in group policy: And here is the output from rsop.msc: Some additional information on this one. If my connecting machine is on the same domain/network as the W8 machine, then I am prompted for a password as usual. If the machine is remote, on a different domain, then I am prompted for a smart card. In addition, the machine I am connecting from that gets the smartcard prompt is an XP box. I haven't isolated exactly which of these factors triggers the different response.

• Creating ip alias on bonded interface ie. bond0:1

  System: HP Proliant DL360 G5 running CentOS 5.4 Bonded interface is working fine for a long time. I just went to add an alias the way I always have on a regular interface, and on first check it works (pinging on the local box) but it is not accessable from outside (iptables is turned off). In addition with this setup the normal network response started to decline, hanging for around a minute before I could get a prompt on login. • Windows 7 does not 'wake up' from Sleep mode

  I'm new to Windows 7, so I don't know if this is normal. When the computer is idle for 30 minutes, the screen goes black and no key pressing or mouse movement will bring the computer out of standby. The computer is still running (fans and hard drive noise) but it will not respond and the screen remains black. The only way to get a response is to press and hold the power button until it goes off, then switch it back on. When it turns on it says "Resuming Windows" and then goes black again. Is this normal? Can the time-out delay be increased? Is there a better workaround than switching the PC on and off?

  I am reading several notes on SSL certificates and comparison. What matters to me the most is speed. I can read that encryption is same with all different certificates available but I was wondering if there is any difference in the performance of the website with different certificates involved. I am ofcourse interested in end to end response times and I wonder if the type of encryption or number of certificates required as Chain Certificates makes a difference in speed. I dont really care for cost but looking for a good SSL certificate which ideally gives me absolutely no pain and best performance. Recommendations?

• Wordpress serving PHP but not CSS or JS

  I'm trying to set up an Amazon EC2 instance to run a Django app and a WP instance side by side, differing only by the incoming URL. Initially, accessing the site via mysite.com/wordpress worked, but I also needed to catch the incoming requests from a subdomain address blog.mysite.com. To do that, I created a default file in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled and included two virtualhost directives, one of which was <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName www.blog.mysite.com <Directory /var/www/wordpress> Order deny,allow Allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost> This created some errors with the other virtualhost, so I restored the default 000-default file configuration and restarted. Now, accessing mysite.com/wordpress takes forever, and even then the CSS and JS files are not loading. Iside the Firebug Net tab, I can see the HTML response, but the CSS and JS files are not loading at all. What happened here?

  I am trying to open port 80 and 3690 for HTTP and svnserve respectively. I have Windows Firewall off, and have tried temporarily disabling Mcafee VirusScan Enterprise, to no avail. According to http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/, both ports 80 and 3690 are still blocked. I can't think of what would be blocking them if Windows Firewall and my antivirus are disabled.
